A lovely open and spacious venue. Great for a year-end function or birthday celebration. Room for kids to run around. Inside is a fireplace, which will be lovely on wintery days. Our wine pairing was delicious and enjoyed with a lovely view! There was live music too. The staff were friendly and the bathrooms where neat and clean.

I have been coming to eat at Middlevlei Wine Farm (Stellenbosch) for at least 4 + years. I have witnessed first hand how they diligently built up their restaurant and their wines....to where they are today-a successful business. Unfortunately I must add, my past visits were very disappointing....and although I didn't immediately take to rating them, I rather wanted to see if what I experienced was not perhaps " off days" , but this was not the case. What was very noticeable was the portion sizes of the chicken Keebabs ( they were always well sized) to the point of the dish lid not being able to close. The Keebabs we received yesterday ( and a few times before)....were nothing short of miserable, they looked boiled ( no colour, and taste) and most times tough, the chops were ridiculously thin ( but nicely braaied), yet the size took centre stage above the taste-very disappointing from previous times. The coffee seemed watered down, and really had no taste! What really sealed the disappointed was their pricing....for just two of us, (including one bottle of their average Red wine) it cost us over R630 excl the tip. I just don't think they are aiming at the locals for support anymore ( rather bus liads)....*what would it cost an average family of 6 cost to eat here?*.( local support). I cant help thinking that if they don't adjust, or bring out a slightly more competitive menu, they might lose local favour/support, when it would most definitely be needed in the winter months. My 3 stars are awarded for: *The venue, because it truly is a lovely peaceful venue. *The wine was stunning, and that on its own deserved 5 stars, and was well priced.... *The taste of the spiced chops was also very good. If you are looking for something different, I still think it's a unique experience for those liking a "farm-styled" environment within the city limits. But, I didn't take away the feeling of a "good meal" experience, rather that I had a good wine experience.

We did the wine blending and opted for a boerebraai as well. The wine blending experience was awesome and you have your own personal blend bottled to take home as a reminder of the day. The boere braai is everything I grew up with eating at a family braai and reminded me of home.

An authentic South African Braai experience in a beautiful farm setting. Great value for money. Lovely Chardonnay and Free run Pinotage.

The most down-to-earth, unpretentious wine farm you’ll find in Stellenbosch. Middelvlei is the closest you’ll get to the farm lifestyle on a wine farm. At the Middelvlei Boerebraai restaurant their resident braai expert prepares your chops, boerewors and chicken sosaties to perfection. The homely aromas of potbrood, braaibroodjies, homemade pâté and Ouma Annie's pumpkin fritters just make it even more special. The kiddies also get their own little braai box which contains French fries, boerewors, juice and jelly tots. The children can view and feed the farm animals which will keep them busy for hours, I can guarantee you! I would definitely recommend this authentic South African restaurant to anyone looking for a simple, delicious meal.

From the moment we arrived at this pastoral retreat, the charm of the countryside enveloped us. The expansive green lawn, neatly manicured and dotted with picnic tables, invited us to bask in the serene ambiance, punctuated by the contented grazing of cattle in the distance. The heart of this homely estate, however, was its open hearth. The warm glow of the fire in the rustic indoor setting was a welcoming sight, promising both warmth and a delightful culinary experience. It did not disappoint. We had the pleasure of indulging in a traditional braai menu that was both hearty and exquisitely prepared, evoking a sense of home-cooked perfection. A special mention must be made of the Pinotage wine - Middelvlei, a true embodiment of South African viticulture. Its robust flavor and smooth finish perfectly complemented our meal, elevating the dining experience to an outstanding level. This place is not just a feast for the palate but also a balm for the soul, offering a tranquil escape with picturesque views that could soothe any city-weary spirit. It's a rare find on Google Maps, one that deserves all the stars I can give.

If you are looking for authentic South African Boerekos, this is the place to go. There are 3 set menus to choose from including a vegetarian option. Our chosen menu started with piping hot potbrood served with butter, smoked snoek pate and fresh jam. This was followed by braaied boerewors, lamb chops and chicken sosaties accompanied by a variety of salads and a braaibroodjie. The food was delicious and the service excellent. Our server, Thandiwe, was well informed, efficient and welcoming. She explained each dish and was always on hand to supply our needs. The beautiful farm setting complete with farmyard animals added to this South African tradition of outdoor cooking and eating. We left sated and happy with an additional potbrood for the road. Essential to make a reservation.

Service was extremely slow and inattentive. White wines were served warm. The bill was slapped down on the table at 3pm, without asking if we wanted anything else or whether we'd like to take a bottle home. We would have happily ordered more to drink, had we known the whereabouts of our host. Instead we were content enough with eachothers company to chat over empty glasses until the card machine arrived at 4pm. Very disappointing that we were made to feel so unwelcome, my expectations were high after seeing such wonderful reviews here.

We were invited to a 60th birthday. I never knew about this place. So glad we found it, so peaceful. This place is beautiful and the food is delicious. The view is beautiful greenery. I recommend this place. There is a restroom, parking is not a problem. You can seat people outside too. Was a great experience.

Wonderful wine farm with a working farm full of animals , making it great for families with little kids. The place is full of dogs, donkeys, goats , cows, pigs , tortoise’s , ducks and chickens . The wine is wonderful and the lunch and tasting deal of home cooked food gives u a real taste of local food. A great break from the posh wineries around town . Loved it!

I loved the atmosphere, food and wine. It is so spacious and excellent for work functions or simply group outings. One of the ladies even sang for us😙. The food was just immaculate and tasty with the wine pairings.

Found this beautiful wine estate braai restaurant by accidnet. Did not feel quite welcome on entry, manager got us a table set up ... sticky table, no menu, no service. We fetched our own menus, to realise bookings are required for what looks like a delicious braai menu with meat for the meat lovers, vegetarian and low carb options. Not too pricey either. We waited about 10 minutes taking in the scenery, and decided to rather leave. They must be rather looking after the reserved tables and not the walk in clients. POV ... maybe tell walk in clients you cannot assist as this would be more helpful than rather no service? We will book next time as we will be back for the braai.

The place is beautiful and the food and enamel bowls and cups reminds me back in Eastern Cape.

We did the braaibroodjie pairing, and I just was not impressed. Fair, it was a braaibroodjie, but the bread used was disappointing and the flavour just wasn't there. I also think they could have gone longer on the fire... won't recommend it.

The wine blending was a good experience however a bit more information is needed to get the blending right Scenery is beautiful but more is needed to make the experience better

Chilled and rustic looking with some great views of the rolling hills and background peaks, with a cool little animal enclosure with wallabys I think! Great wine (we went for the Pinotage and Rose) and great braai style food and good service. We went at the end of the month, when they happen to have a four piece live jazz band. The music was spectacular, we were making requests and dancing, it was great! (Wheelchair accessible as well)

Perfect amount of service given, not too nosy, but there if you need them. Great experience, great enviroment. Petting zoo to take youngsters to, great chattibg corners for adults. Was not dissapointed by the meal, promt service and delivery of food. Decent presentation, fitting with the farm theme: no nonsense 'boere' food, with vegitarian and banting/low gi option. Seeing the tin coffee cup really drove it home, a visit is reccommended; be it for wine tasting or a meal.

Pizza at the market was lovely. All the stalls and goodies where yummy. Wouldn't call it a Christmas market as no Christmas decorations and so.
