Stunning walks. Beautiful scenery all year round. Sad that fire destroyed portions of the vegetation, but this resulted in new life & amazing bright green - which, in contrast with the charcoal, makes for exceptional photography opportunities. Enjoy DYI picnics on sunny days. Remember your own water. Highly recommend buying an annual pass, that includes motor vehicle entrance. If you plan to be a frequent visitor, an annual pass would be well worth it.

We had a birthday lunch party on the top floor of the Route 44 restaurant area.We used the balcony area at back and had good views over the mountains and the park areas.

Beautiful trail for hike/walk. This was my first hike/walk to this nature reserve and was not quite sure if its gonna worth to try so far from where i stay. Thanks to the group through which i made ip my mind to give it a try and i would say, i loved this nature reserve which is quite different compare to other around cape town. Of course every nature reserve is beautiful and unique but this one is worth to try for a hike. I would love to join again in next few weeks time to try the top peak this time.

Nice and well-kept nature reserve, with various parking spaces, picnic areas and different trails. Consider to bring enough drinks and sun protection. The cafe closes at lunchtime. imo - the trails are not really well marked. And you can also park before the entrance (outside) to skip the additional fee for car/parking.

An amazing place to walk or hike. Not too busy like lions head or T Mountain. Various routes up the mountain. R25 per person. We were not fit enough to make it to the top this time but will definitely be back to try again. We went most of the way up the very steep side and back down again and it took 4 hours there and back. Ensure you take water and shoes with a fair amount of grip. They also have lovely grass lawns to picnic at the bottom. They have a restaurant as well but it is currently closed.

Loved the wildness of nature in this Reserve. The little paths inside gives you no choice of taking a risk to see where you'll find yourself next. The marked trails are beautiful and so many people use this for a late afternoon (before closing time @ 17h30) to walk, run or meet someone just for a stroll. We will go back for more, thank you.

Lovely Nature Reserve with amazing hiking trails, some paths get muddy after the rain, so be careful, especially on downhill tracks which can get quite slippery. Entry fee is R30 pp

One of the few nature reserves with good amenities! A strange drive to find the main entrance, but a beautiful reserve with plenty parking and picnic spots. Hiked the Leopard loop, which has very few flat spots to rest your legs, so be prepared to walk uphill all the way 😅 The top gives a breathtaking view of the Helderberg region, with a wonderful stream that provides shade and refreshing water at the beginning of your descent.

A great place to bring the family and friends for picnics and hikes ranging from easy to hard! You will be rewarded with 360° views if you can reach The Dome Summit!!

Great place to go hiking that is still very close to Cape Town itself. Small entry fee per person and then per car, but you can park outside as you can walk in as well. They are busy building and working on the amenities, so its quite dirty and rough. Lots of trails from easy to hard and short to long. At the moment the resturant is closed, but will probably change around December. If you like to hike, make sure to tick this one off your list.

Beautiful scenery. Great place to get in some fresh air and take a walk. There are a variety of paths to choose from (depending on your fitness level). You can also just visit for a family picnic under beautiful big trees on lush grass. Entrance fee is not unreasonable and membership is also an option.

Great trails, well marked. Not shaded so bring a hat and wear sunscreen. Definitely wear good shoes. Beginner friendly depending on trail chosen. Nice just to wonder around in nature if you don't want to summit. Beautiful picnic area too.

Easy access, friendly parks officials, and well kept trails are a cherry on top of a wonderful Western Cape nature area that is teaming with wild flowers, proteas and breathtaking views on a clear day. Trail offer a variety of challenges for casual to enthusiastic hiking aficionados.

Scenic nature with spectacular views, many trials to choose from and helpful staff. entrance fee is affordable. Always check the weather before going to dress accordingly as certain trails tend to get muddy.

Been going to this wonderful reserve for years. You can buy an annual membership card for individuals and families...well worth it if you live in the area or visit regularly. This weekend I visited for the first time since the fire in June. The reserve was ravaged but signs of new growth are everywhere. Gloriously green ferns and other hardy plants blanket the ground. The abundant watsonias are going to be stunning when they flower. Kudos to staff and volunteers for all their work in getting the trails sorted so we can hike. They are not done with the work yet, but I spent a few peaceful hours meandering through the reserve. Sometimes it was eerily quiet, sometimes I heard birdsong. And here and there a pop of pretty colour as flowers emerge from the scorched ground. The new Eco Centre is amazing. I need to make time to visit it properly.

Beautiful walk, everybody greeting each other. Families and friends, young and old, gathering and enjoying nature, +/-30min drive from Cape Town Northern Suburbs. Easy hiking.

A well kept little nature reserve. Very close to Cape Town, a great escape to Nature. Lots of picnic areas down at the bottom, and hiking trails further up. Amazing panoramic views of Muizenberg to Stellenbosch, if you are willing to hike to the top. It is quite a steep hike, so I suggest starting early in the morning. Water is not readily available, only 1 or 2 streams, that may not flow well during summer. Depending on the rainfall. So make sure to take some with.

My very first visit and did a short hike. Can't wait to get back and do one of the other hiking trails. There is plenty of fynbos and wildlife. Beautiful view and amazingly clean rest rooms😊

Always refreshing going hiking here. The trails are clearly marked with different colored arrows for each route on the sides to help navigate the trail.

Fantastic place for long & short hikrs with beautiful views of Somerset West. Veld is recovering from recent fire & they had to cut down old oak trees because of Shothole borer. But still lots to see and great facilities, clean toilets and great new Education Centre with roof garden

There are super easy trails such as the Yellow Sunbird trail. To very challenging Pink trail that takes you to the peak. Some of the inclines have "red ice" which is a very slippery clay. So I suggest you try walk up and down those areas, stepping on grass clumps or gravel to have something for your soles to grip. I would suggest the somewhat challenging blue Protea trail, off of the Sunbird trail, which takes around 3 hours. It has an assent of around 300 meters. It's certainly not for beginners or the unfit, but can be done if you are willing to take your time and wish to achieve a personal goal. And the view is gorgeous.

👍👍 The Hike up to West Peak is moderate. There is a section just before you go over the top that is not clearly marked and one could go up and over two ways. One way calls for scrambling up a thin crevice which I don't recommend at all as it is crumbling and very dangerous. I think people have used it...
