When in the Cape or Cape Province, and you have the time to go to the Franschoek and make a point to visit this gem. For any car enthusiast, this place is remarkable and a must visit. The chances that you will see the same car within 6 months is very slim due to the amount of changes they make and rotating the cars on a regular basis.

Stunning place to visit for all car enthusiasts. Huge collection of vintage cars, veteran ,sports cars, bikes, bicycles, toy cars displays with a piece of info about each vehicle. More than 80 vehicles displayed in four halls, few of them are still in working condition. All automobiles are very well maintained looks great . Only online ticket purchase available. tickets fare for adults 80Rands, kids 40rands . The museum is close to Franschhoek and an hour drive from CPT. Must visit!!

The Franschhoek Motor Museum is a must visit for all petrol heads, car enthusiasts and lovers of all things nice. The beauty of these well kept and maintained pieces of vehicle history is something awesome to behold. The staff are very friendly and professional as you would come to know of museums that are well managed. It's located in such a beautiful area of the Franschhoek region. The drive in to the museum is so stunning and parking is well placed near the entrance. There is a restaurant and curio store inside with beautiful. It's always nice to visit and enjoy these classic and modern cars over the years.

A Perfect Start to Our Honeymoon at The Franschhoek Motor Museum! Our honeymoon began on a high note with a visit to The Franschhoek Motor Museum, and it set the tone for an unforgettable journey. The museum's impeccable upkeep is immediately noticeable, creating a visually stunning atmosphere. The presentation of the cars is nothing short of artful, showcasing each vehicle with meticulous attention to detail. The staff's friendliness added a welcoming touch, making our experience even more enjoyable. What truly impressed us was the huge variety of cars on display. The collection is diverse and well-curated, providing a captivating journey through automotive history. The fact that they switch out cars every few months keeps the experience fresh and ensures there's always something new to discover. Kudos to The Franschhoek Motor Museum for making our visit memorable. Highly recommended for any car enthusiast or anyone looking to kick off a special journey with a touch of automotive elegance!

Just returned from another wonderful trip to South Africa and this fantastic private museum. Fallen in love with the most beautiful car in the world, a very rare Aston Martin convertible. Thank you to the owner for allowing us to view these beautiful machines.

We were talking for many years that we wanted to visit the Franshhoek motor meuseum, and so we finally did it, as we passed by (spur of the moment type of thing) due to covid, we had to book tickets online (found that out while we waited by the gate...) After I purchased tickets I wanted to know if we may go through so long to have a coffee and something to eat as we didn't have lunch yet. I was told that we have to go to the wine farm.. ok fair enough.. went there, once we got to the gate, security told me they are full, but at least called to find out. We were checked in. Once we entered the wine tasting center, the lady greeted us friendly, and after we said that we would like to have a coffee and some lunch, she made a comment saying that the meuseum can help us with something sweet, also that the restaurant is full and we can wait in the wine tasting area upstairs.. already both my dad and I started feeling unwelcome. I explained to the lady that we booked tickets for the car meuseum however security had referred us to the wine farm to eat something as we could not go inside. We went upstairs, sat on the couches, two seconds later another waitress came telling us that the couches are reserved. I said we are just having a quick coffee and then we will be on our way. We sat by a small glass table, the waiters (three individuals)didn't even bother to remove wine tasting glasses, we got coldish cappuccinos and no menu to at least offer something to eat. We left with a bitter taste of this supposed to be respectable wine farm where you would expect to receive some service better than what you will receive at a back street takeaway shop. We were very disappointed. We waited in the parking lot for about 45 minutes for our ticket slot. The cars were great and interesting, beautiful and immaculate. Good to view. Our disappointment came again after our walk, at the cafe. At least the coffee and muffin was at a giveaway price of R30. But the people seemed unfriendly, no personality, no music. It was so drab - horrible. I will not visit again. Please make sure to have lunch somewhere else before you visit!!

A wide variety of beautiful old cars on display. Staff were friendly and could provide information about vehicles on display. Four stars because you have to make a reservation to visit and the coffee shop on the premises is very basic.

Amazing museum filled with so much automobile history. Did not expect to find the collection of cars that they have here. Make sure to book beforehand just to avoid some delays at the gate.

The array of sparkling vintage cars is impressive - combined with the informative information, history of each vintage vehicle and video showreels. This was a time warp experience to delight the eye's, excite the the senses and invigorate the imagination. If you're a car enthusiast or just want to enjoy the rich experience of yesteryear vehicles and vintage bikes- this is the absolute place to visit.

I really enjoyed this place. The museum has an amazing car collection. The lineup of restored cars take you on a journey through history, and if you pay a bit extra you can be taken on a ride in one of them. Last but not least, you can catch the complementary bus ride to their wine farm next door and enjoy a glass or 4.

Wonderful experience. A large collection of mostly cars, but also motorcycles and bicycles. Each car is unique, ask for a guide to share the stories. Although I'm not interested in cars in general, it was a very interesting experience. Don't miss the chance to visit the museum if you are in the vicinity.

Very nice cars on display. Was hoping to see more of the Ferrari's, but unfortunately was not on display. Worth the R80. Both enthusiasts and people that are not well knowledged on classics will love it!

Oh boy . If you are a petrol head and happen to be anywhere around, stop by the museum. Collection is just breathtaking. Bear in mind, cars shown are only a fraction of what the museum has, and all most vehicles are in pristine and working condition (they have 7 full time mechanics working on site) . Ask the very friendly guides and will tell you more about it. Mustang all eras, early bentleys, very first Ford Ts, BMW hangar .

  • 5/5 Christel K. 4 years ago on Google

There are four buildings on the property, and the cars are amazing to see. Fully restored and ready, no expense was spared. This is a beautiful breathtaking exhibit and a "must see" stop when visiting Cape Town and the surrounding areas.

  • 5/5 Pearl G. 3 years ago on Google
A must for all petrolheads! Pristine-condition cars - imagine any wartime movie, Downton Abbey, the vehicles in any historical programme, and then see them here in real life! And the setting is stunning.

  • 4/5 Clemens N. 4 years ago on Google
Nice collection and worth a visit, even if you're not a car enthusiast. All cars are in excellent shape and I've been told most are still working fine. Sadly its missing some aspects to be a five star experience. Would be nice to at least see some open hoods/engines or be able to sit in a more common and "inexpensive" historic car or replica.

If you love cars you need to see this place at least once, some very rare vehicles on display, example: F40, F50 and F60. Entrance fee is a tad expensive at R80 per person, in my opinion.

  • 1/5 Natasha P. 3 years ago on Google
My family and I decided last minute to come see this museum as we saw the sign along the road. We were stopped at the gate and told by the security we need to phone to make an appointment so we did that, only then told by a lady on the phone that we need to buy tickets online. There is clearly very bad communication between staff and would not recommend coming here as a last minute decision. Bad for walk in business. I am very disappointed with service.

Had the opportunity to go and view the Franschhoek Motor Museum. I really did not expect to see such an amazing collection of motor vehicles, staring as far back as 1903. Conditions of vehicles is emacculate, well looked after and all in working condition. On your next visit to Franschhoek make sure to visit this museum. It is one of a kind. Truly amazing and will love to see what else is on show as this is only half of the collection.

  • 5/5 Arvin S. 3 years ago on Google
The Motor Museum was a great experience, with booking slots at hour intervals, there is sufficient time to walk through the individual museum halls with small groups in each. All the staff were friendly and helpful throughout the time we were there. Each hall had pristine condition motor vehicles, bikes, bicycles, engines, models and memorabilia. A real show for enthusiasts to see some rare classics! There are staff with sanitizers at each entrance, as well as staff that scan you and ensure you are wearing a mask at the main entrances. The weather was lovely today so our group got some quality photos and drone shots in the pathway between the halls. We did not stay for coffee, though the lounge looked extremely welcoming and spacious for a few small groups. There are wine houses with cafes and markets nearby, so it's a good option to add to the day's programme. Great experience overall.

Beautiful cars, each one with some detail of its history. A few bikes for the bike lovers. Overall very interesting and we had a lovely time as a family. There is a coffee shop as well as a wine and souvenir shop. The only slightly annoying thing was even though you can visit anytime now (Apr 2022) you have to buy your ticket online and then only ride in. We had to park outside the gate ,do the online booking and payment and then we could drive in. But otherwise, it was awesome and staff was friendly.

This was a lovely experience seeing cars from all times in 4 huge rooms. You need to buy your entrance admission in advance, which we quickly did on our phones. I have so many photos, more than I've posted here! If you love older cars, this is a must to see.

  • 5/5 Riaz B. 2 years ago on Google
Probably one of the better collections in the world . Old cape Dutch buildings converted to a museum, in the beautiful cape winelands area and surrounded by the mountains. You don't ha e to only be a car lover to appreciate this . 4 buildings filled with cars and best of all is that the cars a rotated with those in the workshop. So every time you visit you bound to see a few new vehicles.

  • 5/5 Jason T. 1 year ago on Google
A really nice experience seeing cars you'll never see again. From the very old to the modern. However, not really for small kids as you can't touch any of the cars. And that's all they would want to do.

A must visit for those who appreciate not just cars, not just history but life. A well curated display of phenomenal classic, vintage and modern cars that alternates through the season and displayed in four warehouse set on the impressive Anthonij Rupert Wine Farm. A museuem that warrants multiple visits as only 80 of the 300 odd cars can be on display at any given time. A lovely journey through history, motoring and life.

If you're a motor enthusiast, you must visit and experience the rich history of the motor car. Vintage cars and bikes. Motor racing cars, touring motorcycles - Franschhoek Motor Museum has it all. There is also detailed history of every exhibit (motor vehicle). You can buy some memorabilia too (caps, key chains, t-shirts). Be sure to book your ticket / slot online before showing up. Or you can show up and buy the ticket online while waiting at the entry gate. Staff is awesome and friendly.
