This is the most amazing beach to spend the day. Feels like another world. Cute penguins all around. Lovely white sand. Clear, blue water in bay. Great rocks to explore. It is a big tourist attraction and can get very busy.

Beautiful Beautiful beautiful and clean. It's like you in a movie when you at the beach. The penguins are just too cute and close up. A 360 view of nature at its best beauty. Kid friendly. Free parking. Can't wait to go back.

Wonderful day out. Saw LOADS of penguins, some were even sitting on eggs (so make sure you keep an eye open when walking along the trails). Was very busy with tourists, but was still able to see a lot and get some great photos. There is a swimming area too but the waters are SUPER COLD, so bring something warm to swim in if you’re planning to.

I absolutely adore Boulders Beach... Not just for the adorable penguins that are scattered all around the area, but also for all the natural beauty you're surrounded with when you visit. The beach is clean, beautiful, and the perfect place for a picnic. It is also quite shielded from wind so overall just a nice place to catch some sun.

There’s a entry fee to the boardwalk and you can see the penguins from up close. Usually, you can spot their eggs and even though it was summers and slightly hot, the penguins were out there. And a lot of them were on the beach side as well as in the woods. There’s a beach that has public accessibility after a slight kilometre boardwalk. There were 2 penguins there along with people. It was exciting to see the penguin walk and then swim along.

This place is definitely worth a visit. There are small piers built here for visitors so that they cannot enter directly among the penguins. They can thus seem to be in peace and undisturbed in their environment. There is an entrance fee and parking is not far away. You can see that they take good care of the place.

This was the best outing to start off 2022. Beautiful beach ⛱ and weather. The atmosphere of the other beach goers was pleasant and considerate. This was the receipe for a relaxing time spent together by all present. Our group had so much fun together as it was back to work on Monday. Definitely a great place to enjoy time with family and friends. The 🐧 penguins just added to the outing with Mother nature. Make an effort to enjoy your day at Boulders Beach.

Great parking location. We then chose to walked along the wooden footpath not knowing what to expect. We could see nests along the way and great views. On reaching the signpost to enter for penguins we paid and was told we could use the same tickets at the main entrance to see the colonies. I do admit I thought we would see penguins. We managed to see one on the shore and we stayed an hour to enjoy the beach. We walked back along the wooden footpath and got to the entrance for the main colonies. It was spectacular. They are beautiful, well kept and happy feet! Its absolutely worth the visit!

Nice to see the penguins up close. There is a public(free to use) walkway a bit higher up and away from the shoreline that has a view of the beach where the most penguins can be seen. The free walkway has the odd penguin and nest along the way. To access the walkway to the beach you’ll have to buy a ticket. The paid and free access walkways takes about 30 minutes each to complete.

Awesome place for kids to get close to wild penguins, unfortunately touching and feeding is not allowed. Entry fee prices can be found on the internet and only card payments are allowed. Enjoy scenic walks with information along the boardwalk. Bring along your swimwear and enjoy a refreshing cold swim on the beautiful little beach, kayak or snorkel between the rocks. Souvenir and snacks can be bought at the shop.

OMG! Visually, this place was so dreamy with all the penguins. Please do bear the smell though :-D They are so funny to watch, please do visit in the evening time, the colors are good and you will have a good view of the dolls. The train ride to here is something not be missed for the solo travellers.

Totally worth a trip to see the penguins, but do yourself a favor and visit on a weekday. The weekends are busy and the beach is small. If you prefer to save some cash just take the boardwalk and you'll be able to see plenty of penguins along the walk.

Very nice place with penguins everywhere! I have the experience to watch them closely for the first time! Had bought so many souvenirs from their shop and shops nearby. I recommend visiting the place at least once. Watch out! There could be a runaway under your car!

Stunning natural environment for the penguins to enjoy their sunbathing and swimming. This is a dream and I love going to visit the penguins. Most of the areas are gated off where you shouldn’t walk to leave the penguins to have a safe breeding zone. Pro tip: I’ve paid to go inside the area and wouldn’t necessarily recommend paying. You can go visit them for free if you go towards the left from the parking lot. Go towards the beach and you’ll see plenty of penguins sunbathing, swimming and hanging by their dens. Pro pro tip: bring a blanket and picnic because it’s a beach. You’ll get to hang out with them and have a good time with friends or a romantic date.

Boulders Beach was one of the highlights of our trip to Cape Town, and our entire visit to South Africa. It’s easy to reach by car from Cape Town, but there are plenty of organised tours if you don’t have a car – so make sure it’s in your itinerary. Upon arrival at the entrance area, you buy your ticket and enter the protected beach area. There are two sides to the walkway as you enter, you can either go straight forward or to the right. Both routes end in a viewing platform at either side of the beautiful beach, alongside the colony of African penguins that live there. The penguins are very playful and curious, and don’t seem at all bothered by your presence. You can get quite close whilst on the viewing platforms, but for obvious reasons you can’t go too near to them. We had the pleasure of seeing lots of young baby penguins, and they just melt your heart with cuteness. Overall we were there for about an hour, just watching and witnessing these charismatic animals in their natural environment. It’s a must do for anyone visiting Cape Town – you simply can’t miss it!

If you love Penguins it's worth it. The lines were so long and honestly, we spent more time in line than I did in the Penguin area. We went and it was very crowded. We walked down to see the Penguins, took a few photos and left. It was hard to just stay and relax as everyone was pushing for a spot on the railing. The gift shop was crowded, hard to shop but they did have e several cute items.

Boulders Beach is a true natural wonder that leaves an indelible mark on anyone fortunate enough to visit. Nestled on the Cape Peninsula in South Africa, this pristine beach is world-renowned for one remarkable feature: its adorable, endearing penguin colony. The sight of African penguins waddling on the powdery sands and swimming gracefully in the clear, azure waters is a true delight, making Boulders Beach a must-visit destination for wildlife enthusiasts and families alike. The beach itself, with its sheltered coves and unique granite boulders that lend it its name, is a serene and beautiful setting for a day of relaxation. The wooden boardwalks that wind through the dunes provide excellent vantage points for penguin-watching and capture the essence of the environment without disturbing it. The pristine, turquoise waters beckon for a refreshing swim, and the surrounding area offers opportunities for picnicking and exploration. Boulders Beach is a captivating blend of nature and adventure, making it a gem along South Africa's stunning coastline.

The most beautiful views! It almost seems unreal. My friends and I went to Boulders Beach two different times over the course of a week and both times were amazing and beautiful. The water isn't as cold as you would normally expect from the Cape Town ocean, but this is due to the beach being on the Indian Ocean side of the peninsula. There weren't any strong currents or big waves, so it was a very calm, peaceful and easy swim. If you feel adventurous enough to swim around and climb over and around some boulders you'll see penguins close enough to touch! - but don't hahaha. One thing that is important to note though is the fact that, if you are South African, you need your ID or drivers license to prove that you are, in fact, South African or you would have to pay tourist rates. While acknowledging the need for a difference in rates, a more moderate gap between tourist and local rates would enhance the overall experience for all visitors. The facilities are well-kept and the beach is clean. There are also little wooden benches along the side of the beach under the trees for you to leave your belongings on. All things considered, I would encourage anyone and everyone to go see the penguins and enjoy this lovely beach during their Cape Town endeavours.

A Charming Encounter with Nature Yesterday's visit to Boulder Beach offered a quaint and unique experience, showcasing nature's marvels in a compact, yet enriching visit. Nestled near Simon's Town, Boulder Beach is famed for its protected colony of African penguins, visible through strategically placed wooden walkways. Although not sprawling with endless activities, the site provides a tranquil getaway to observe these charming creatures in their natural habitat. The beach's location offers a serene backdrop, perfect for those looking to escape the city's bustle. Its setup, emphasizing conservation and wildlife protection, ensures every visitor leaves with a greater appreciation for nature's intricacies. The entry fee of 190RMB, while steep for a visit lasting no more than 30-45 minutes, contributes to the ongoing conservation efforts, ensuring the penguins thrive in a protected environment. During our off-peak visit, the absence of large crowds allowed for a more personal experience, enabling us to admire the penguins' antics without the usual hustle and bustle. The well-maintained walkways and viewing platforms provided ample opportunities for photography and quiet reflection.

The absolute highlight of my entire cape peninsula journey. You get to chill with penguins on a beach! Yes, you read that correctly. Where else in the world can you do that? You'll find a massive penguin colony at Boulders Beach. There are sooooo many penguins. I sat down on the beach next to the penguins while listening to the crashing waves and admiring just how awkward a penguin is on land. They are so cute! I've never experienced anything like this. Definitely go to Boulders Beach. The beach itself is so beautiful with all of these towering boulders which become hiding spots for the penguins. The water is inviting and it's a great place to just relax with the penguins.

Penguins galore! 🐧 A fun place for kids to experience along with spending some time at the ocean. The water is fantastic. You may decide to enter the park by paying, which allows you to experience the private beach area. You may decide to take a stroll along the boardwalk and see the penguins relaxing. It smells, but it's their habitat.

A beautiful penguins haven. It was good to see them in their natural habitat. 😍 There was a strong wind and sand blowing at the time of our visit, so they weren't moving much, but rather were huddled together facing away from the wind most time. Maybe visiting much later during summer when the winds aren't so strong you might just get lucky and see them moving and playing around.

Very busy, not worth going to the beach all the people had chased away all the penguins. The walkway/lookout point was a lot better, got to see some really cute penguins. As you enter the parking lot there is a path leading to the left, that was a really nice walk with very few people and a lot of dassies.

The Boulders Penguin Colony helps to conserve the African Penguin ( or Jackass Penguin) which is now an endangered species. You can pay to into the colony - free entrance of you have a Wildcard. You can also see the penguins as you walk along the path - this is a well maintained planked walkway. You can see some penguins nesting close to the fence. There is another path through a gate which leads to beautiful spots where you can picnic on the rocks and swim in the bay. Beautiful clean white sandy beaches.

Definitely the place you want to go to see penguins in their beachside habitat. The park is quite small and takes about an hour to see everything there is to see here. Also… don’t touch the penguins or let your kids touch them. I saw a kid get pecked when a parent let their kid reach past the fence to try to touch on the the birds… be respectful and stay safe.

Boulders Penguin colony is such a wonderful place. The Penguins can be see in their natural ecosystem at very close range. There is also a nice shop for those who feel like buying souvenirs. We had a memorable day visiting Boulders Beach. The beach is beautiful and of course its star is the penguins colony. What adorable little creatures!!! S.A. Big 5 and now Penguins? Wow. Just amazing trip we've been having all in one country Here if you have the WILD CARD it's free entrance. So remember to bring it with your IDs. Def very cool to see penguins come here to chill. These are African penguins and are different from other penguins in the world. We even witnessed a Seagull snatch a penguins egg to eat. In the animal kingdom, nothing is safe and a mistake will cost lives... Such incredible sceney. Boulder beach isn't huge, but we spent a good 3 hours here. Remember to stop by the visitor center to reload some energy with their ice cream freezer.

A short visit to this lovely location to see the penguins. It was definitely well worth our journey as there were many birds and even a few Dassies (a mammal that is only found in this region). We arrived very early and it was quiet with no ques. You are able to walk on a wooden walkway, all the way down to the beach and see the penguins in their nests, sunbathing and swimming. It was clean with good toilet facilities and a nice gift shop.

The most popular recreational spot is Boulders Beach, but the penguins are best viewed from Foxy Beach, where newly constructed boardwalks take visitors to within a few meters of the birds. It is also a popular swimming beach, although people are restricted to beaches adjacent to the penguin colony.

The boulders beach is a beautiful beach with towering boulders that serve as a hide out for the penguins. It is so lovely here . You get to see lots and lots of the penguins all over the beach, with some hiding in the grasses , sitting on the rocks and others swimming. There are sign boards showing their life cycle, their survival, feeding , mating and others that greatly informs you about penguins. The beach is very clean and the walkways was fenced away from the penguins. There are shops selling artifacts , cosmetics and others before getting to the beach. There is an entrance fee here.

This is such an outstanding place. With penguins up close and beautiful sea views, it's too good. This park is for the preservation of the penguin colony on a small piece of the beach. Entrance for adult SA residents is R42. With that you get to go onto the viewing deck to see the penguins and then enter the beach where the penguins live. It was so beautiful, the penguins even swim by you even though they are not to be interacted with it was still amazing.

Nice to see if you’ve never been before, but once is enough. There are two areas, the beach and the ‘colony’. One ticket purchased at either works for both. The beach is properly tiny and usually crowded with way too many people on weekends. Don’t expect to see more than one or two penguins there. The colony has loads of penguins that one can view from a raised walkway. Don’t go there thinking you’re going to ‘swim with penguins’. The penguins usually just stand there doing nothing. Very cheap if you’re South African. Much more expensive if you’re from out of country but still cheap with the exchange rates.

Really great setup for visitors to see the penguins without disturbing them. Loved the really cute African penguins. The penguins were super sweet, the staff at the entrance and in the shop etc were the opposite. Disengaged and disinterested. It’s a pity really as that’s what tourists are left with when they visit! A disengaged and really unfriendly group of staff. Would still recommend to go and visit. Just don’t hold your breath if you are wanting a welcoming smile at the entrance.

Sweet spot to observe the penguins. From this entrance you can only observe them from a platform. If you want to go on the beach, swim and be closer to the penguins you need to go to the “beach entrance” which is 300m away. We were misguided and went to the platform. There’s an entrance fee for both entrance (need to pay 2x).

Nice and relaxing walk from the parking area. There's a little market with traditional African souvenir sellers. The walk is free and you can see many penguins along the walk. It's child and wheelchair friendly. Great photo opportunities. You can choose to enter the paid area where you can actually swim with the penguins or the free walk. Locals and foreigners pay different prices,😔 . A great place to visit. There are a few restaurants on either side of the walk, also a little tuck shop that sells chips and soft drinks. Enjoy!!!!

Swim with penguins! Boulders beach is the best little beach ever! Extremely intimate as the penguins come first! When it's summer it's protected by the wind and is the perfect day out. Learn to share your surroundings with the penguins and always give them right of way! Don't feed them! There is an entrance fee, but it's worth it! Get there super early as you can because it feels up quickly! Bliss!

Awesome place and great experience. Nice little walks and view points and the ocean looked great the day we went. A bit cold but that was expected. Definitely recommended to go early as the crowds were in force. A beautiful place to swim and just check out nature at its best. Beautiful.

Who doesn’t love penguins? I have never seen one before until I stopped here. So glad I did. They were all over the beach and boulders here mostly sunning themselves! Great elevated boardwalks with views of the oceans! If you are driving by you have to stop or make a half day trip of it from Cape Town. Driving through the local towns is interesting!

Very busy and viewing platforms get full quick. So lovely to see the cute little penguins but no interactions permitted. Had to keep moving and short time to view as many other people pouring in. Remember to take your ID with otherwise you land up paying international visitors rate.

It's a lovely scenic beach with lots of penguins on show. I just felt like there wasn't much else to do. Other reviews I read made it out like you could interact with the penguins, but that wasn't the case. There's actually warnings not to touch them and also fines if you do so. It's a nice visit, but a long drive from the centre of the city with not very much else to do, unless you are heading towards Cape of Good Hope, Simon's Town or Kirstenbosch Botanical Gardens.

A must see attractions if you want to see penguins while in Capetown . It’s a decent drive around 90 and if you take a longer option on google maps , you can enjoy a more scenic route. You have to pay to enter the beach and will be on a platform so not super close to penguins but still very close . Depending on the time of day you will a certain number but almost anytime there are bunch of them there . There are alternate ways to see them without paying any money too or to get close to them you can enter either ends of the beach . I will recommend this activity in addition to the drive and maybe south of good hope .

Be aware that construction is taking place there at the moment. But, what a phenomenal spot! Because it was during the week, it was full but not packed. Find a lovely spot under the trees to have lunch and then moved down closer to the water. Water is calm, an occasional small ripple as the tide came i, but it was clear, clean water on white sand. You can literally see the schools of tiny fish under the surface, close to the shore . Super safe for the kiddo . You don't have to stress that the tide will pull them in like some of the beaches on our shores. Going back up was a bit challenging for me due to my health, it's a bit steep with many steps. I had to stop every few paces to catch my breath but made it eventually 😅 So worth it!!

African penguins in their natural habitat. Gets very busy though. The walkways have been built around their environment so you can observe at a close up but it needs a bit of an expansion. There is also an area where you can swim but doubt the penguins will get too close!

Boulders Beach is one of Cape Town's most beautiful attractions. You can see some of the coastline by car. The journey takes approximately 40 minutes. The place is very popular, so it's important to go early to avoid a huge queue. The site has the famous penguins, some curiosities about the species, facts and important information. I would like to point out that the organization of the space could make visitors aware not to litter or feed the animals (as I unfortunately saw an old lady throwing paper), which could harm the animals. You can see the penguins up close and there is a small path where you can even see some birds.

The place to visit penguin 🐧 . Our good that these cute animals are separated from the other animal visiting. The way these penguins 🐧 are behaving is eye-catching. Sometimes even wondering who is observing who. Nice experience

This beach seems so calm and serene. I really wished we spent more time as a tour or I came here separately since I crammed everything during my time here in this country. Definitely worth a visit for swimming which I regret not doing. The penguins are obviously the main attraction so you will be entertained by them when they are active. I suggest take a half day and go here for swimming.

One of the best places in South Africa to watch the endangered African penguins. You will love the beautiful drive by the coastline from Muizenberg to Boulders. As you enter the ticket counter, the boardwalk leads you through the beautiful white sand dunes to the colony of penguins. If you have kids and love beaches this place has a small beach by the rocks which gives a feel of a pool and really fun and safe. It's a good place to spend some time; you can go watch the penguins and on your way back spend some fun time at the beach.

A public beach where you are forced to pay? Even just to look at the penguins. Madness. Added to that, I didn't have my ID with me, so then I must pay double price because apparently they can't tell the difference between a local and a foreign accent. There is also no social distancing. People are cramped on this "private" beach, not a mask in sight.

  • 4/5 Imraan A. 3 years ago on Google
A fairly small and cosy cove, you get to swim among the penguins in water that isn't too cold. Many rocks to climb, making this beach worthy of its name sake. Just watch out for knocking into rocks while you're in the water, and also the tide that will quickly make the beach disappear in the afternoon.

Boulders Beach is a sheltered beach made up of inlets between granite boulders, from which the name originated. It is located on the Cape Peninsula, in Simon's Town, a suburb of Cape Town in the Western Cape province of South Africa. It is also commonly known as Boulders Bay.It is a popular tourist spot because of a colony of African penguins which settled there in 1982. Boulders Beach forms part of the Table Mountain National Park.

Penguin Nest ( Boulder's Beach ) This is a nice place to see Penguin in their kingdom. Well maintained by authorities for animal welfare. Photographers can spot nesting, feeding, fishing as well as hatching. There is also a public beach nearby where you can enjoy a bath. This place has a parking, accessible to wheel chair & washrooms. There is no restaurant on the site but nearby there are a lot of them in Simon's Town. Time required to visit is 1-2 hrs. There is a lot of walking about 1-2 km.

A great place to see Penguins up close. They seem not to mind the closeness of humans and often stroll up the the road or parking area. They have a restricted area where they gather en-masse. The beach and surrounding area is quite peaceful, so definitely worth a visit and the entry fee is not that expensive.

  • 5/5 Evan R. 3 years ago on Google
This is one of the largest African Penguin colonies remaining. It is easy to see the penguins and they often wander along the beach. There is a cordoned off section where you won’t be allowed to enter, but the penguins do move close by. There are penguin burrows nearby and you can spot them nesting if you look carefully. There is a large parking area available. Best times to spot the penguins are early mornings and evenings. Please don’t feed the penguins and don’t touch them. These are critically endangered animals.

This is an absolutely beautiful place! We weren’t happy about the price difference for locals vs tourists but it was still totally worth it. Its 170 rand per person for tourists. I believe it’s 40 rand for locals. It’s about 45 min from the city. My husband was able to swim with the penguins and had such a cool experience. We were there around 9am and around 11am it was getting busier. There is a limit and after that they won’t let you in. Oh such a beautiful place. It was very cute seeing the penguins. A lovely walk in the nature. I really enjoyed myself. Definitely a place to see

It honestly felt as though we were in another country. Beautiful turquoise waters. You have a chance to see the penguins and can also swim with them aswell.

Fabulous safe little beach to take the kids. Swimming between the boulders or sunning yourself on top of them. Then there are the penguins, besides from being such cute funny little things, their populations are endangered and need all the help they can get from us. Don't forget it's a pay beach in Table Mountain National Park.

This place is so cute and dreamy with hundreds and penguins running around. It is a fun place for kids and small family outing. The great thing about this place is that you can always stop for nearby lunch after right around the corner.

Great place to take your friends if they are visiting Cape Town. Your entrance fee gets you into the viewing area of the penguins and then walk down Willis walkway to the actual beach. Once on the beach is nice and secluded and a great little area to swim in. They are doing great work to keep this African Penguin colony growing.

Lovely secluded beach! Entry fee Adults R42 Kids R12...but free if you just want to walk on boardwalk to scope penguins.

Choose a good day when we went to Boulders beach it started drizzling and it was cold so our visit was rushed..after a long drive..parking can b difficult to get since its for both the beach and the penguin visitors...the penguins r so cute and well behaved 🐧🐧loved it..its worth a visit

Wonderful place. I like watching these cute creatures. They look so innocent and the day after the meeting with penguins makes my day even better. They are also in a lot of places around but here is the majority of the whole colony. Absolutely worthy to spend some time here😍

This is one of my favourite beaches. Free entrance if you have a Wildcard. Warm water, protected from the currents and wind. Child friendly and always feels like an adventure when there. Please keep a distance from the penguins.

You've just got to love these penguins! Boulders is a great experience. Well-maintained and neat, as with all national parks there is a very reasonable entrance fee (R53) for locals. The gift/souvenir shop at the exit is lovely, jam-packed with penguin themed mementos.

Lovely little beach... 💜 tiny so limited space... Best to go early on weekends / peak season. Be sure to check the tide times and get there well before high tide, so half the sand area gets covered by the ocean... the walk over to the penguins is so beautiful, and the water makes you feel like you're on a tropical island 🏝

Boulders Beach was so beautiful and worth the visit. The kids really loved seeing the penguins close up. It was such a lovely family outing. If you want to visit the beach you muat be there early because they only allow a certain number of people on the beach and finding parking can be a problem.

Thought this would be a long drive from the city to Boulders Beach expecting some weird oversized rocks with penguins all over the place but nope I was so wrong. The parking was decent and as we walked towards the penguin sanctuary , it was such a beautiful sight to see an amazing beach with penguins everywhere, laying and swimming around huge boulders. As we walked a long the path, penguins were visible close by and we all were enjoying their company. Got to the paypoint , in we went and enjoyed the short walk to the beach point flooded with the penguins just doing their thing. Really amazing.

Great place to check out the penguins. The walkways make it very easy for almost anyone to gain access to look at the penguins. There is a route with stairs and one without. You can get really up and close to the penguins lounging around close to their homes. Then you can go out on the other route and make it out to the beach where the penguins head out to go fishing. Great if you have a Wild Card as entry is free. Parking is a bit of a challenge on busy days and this is the only reason I cannot score them higher.

I haven't been in years but it was definitely worth the drive. We truly are blessed to have the opportunity to share the beach and sea with penguins... where else in the world can you do such things and in such a beautiful environment as well. BONUS you get to contribute to Sanparks as well 🥰

Managed to avoid peak time, walked the boardwalk down to the beach to see the colony. Penguins in their natural habitat, the place is well maintained. Will definitly go again.

A great place to go and see the penguins! I’ve been coming here since I was a child and it’s always a good time. You get to walk along the boardwalk and take in the view of the coast and ocean along with the penguins (and the occasional dassie). There are information boards along the way and lookout spots perfectly placed. This is a great family outing and an awesome experience for locals and tourists. Prices are also very reasonable for locals. Will definitely be back again, would highly recommend.

A little pricey at R420 for international tourists, but well worth the visit and they're doing a lot to raise awareness and encourage breeding. Parking is just about 100m from the entrance and you can get up close to the penguins, whilst not disturbing them too much. There's 2 walkways - one that takes you to the penguins on the beach, another to explore the burrows and cute chicks. There's toilets and a great shop, plus locals selling trinkets by the car park ... and a cafe / ice cream place!

  • 5/5 Carmen van D. 1 year ago on Google
Nothing like penguins to make a girl happy! Beautiful day. It was a bit too busy and the international tourists don't give other people time to observe the penguins on the viewing decks. The beach section was lovely but a bit of a scramble to get over the boulders and if it is high tide definitely going to get wet. Great to see South African prices, but more pleasant to visit when it isn't festive season

Excellent venue to enjoy the view of the magnificent Sudafricane penguins, they are quite rare and under extinction risk. We all need to protect their habitat and preserve the beach from pollution and loud . The view of these lovable animals is pretty easy and we'll organized, the staff is absolutely kind and helpful. Good ice cream shop on the way .

Beautiful Beach. Went at a very busy and popular time (December). Crowded with lots of people wanting to see the beautiful penguins. You are able to taka a stroll on the walkway and possibly spot penguins or you can pay (fees differ for locals and International visitors) and enter at the Table Mountains National Park entrance, to have an up-close view. You can go for a swim and relax under your beach umbrella. There are some stalls to purchase memorabilia. There are also restaurants and B&Bs in close proximity.

Beautiful place to visit, impressive how close you can get to the penguins and how blue the water can get. The beach is separated into two different access points, I suggest going first to the southernmost point (with closer encounters with penguins) and making your way up north (with better views of penguin groups).

Despite some occasional showers, it was still pretty busy. Nonetheless, it was amazing to see these cute animals. Also felt good to contribute for the protection of these endangered African penguins.

I am lucky and only paid like R44 to get in, but my friends were international and paid almost R200 for LITERALLY just 30 minutes. I don't think it's worth it paying that much just to see penguins chilling around. BUT ! They are absolutely adorable and if you're never going to get the chance again then perhaps it's worth it

It's the best place to hang out with adorable penguins, and I've never seen so many of them in my entire life, not to mention the charming dussies. The panoramic view was an absolute feast for the eyes, leaving me in awe of Mother Nature's breathtaking beauty. And let's talk about the ocean in Cape Town – it's simply enchanting! I couldn't get enough of its majestic waves and soothing sounds. This place has stolen my heart, and I'm head over heels in love with it! If you ever get a chance, you absolutely must experience the joy of penguins and the mesmerizing ocean in Cape Town. It's a magical adventure you'll cherish forever! 🐧🌊

This was such a lovely experience! At first we thought we would maybe see 2 or 3 penguins but we were very wrong. We saw so many penguins sitting in the beach and waddling about. Some penguins were taking a swim together which was lovely to see. There was also plenty of signs around to give information about the penguins which was very informative. A great shop at the end too for some good souvenirs.

I loved the visit to Boulder Beach. Penguins are a rare sight in Africa expect here. It's worth taking a dive out there of your in Capetown to get to see these guys, as their numbers are seriously low due to numerous factors, supporting the reserve and their efforts is important.

Penguins are the stars. The view is beautiful. Not much to do other than the beach and deck to take pics. A must do experience if you love to just see the penguins.

Stopped to see the penguins and they did not disappoint. Luckily, our guide got tickets ahead of time so we didn’t have to wait in line. Depending on the time of day, expect a wait. It’s worth it as the penguins are very close and very cute.

My best beach in Cape Town hands down. The penguin colony was so adorable and when you go near them they are hardly phased.... the big rocks ( boulders) makes the beauty of this beach plus the white sands and warm water. It doesn't get too full and I was there during peak season so that was a relief.

Absolutely wonderful nature reserve where you can get up close and personal with endangered African Penguin. Good board walk and information signage. Crowd can make viewing area a bit congested. Make sure you have plenty of time to spend to soak up the atmosphere and observe all interesting behavior of Penguin. The view of the bolder beach is spectacular in itself too.
