During our honeymoon in South Africa, our experience at Sanbona (we stayed at the Dwyka Lodge) was definitely the highlight. This was our first safari experience, and it definitely did not disappoint. Our guide, Thomas, was incredibly knowledgable and friendly. We saw some truly incredible things, from a family of elephants being mere feet away from our vehicle, to a cheetah right after a kill. Our lodgings were also magnificent (the hot tub and outdoor shower were a great plus!), and everyone on the staff was so kind and lovely. We can't wait to go back!

Accommodations was good. Food was alright. We had a swimming pool but was not heated & cold. The guide casper was great. The only issue was a few animals & had to drive for long time to see the animals. Sometimes we did not see any of of the animals also u saw them at a distance away. Its a ok safari . I think its a little pricey reserve.

Unbelievably good. Visited Sanbona with some friends for my 30th birthday celebration and they went out of their way to make the experience special. Everything about this place is 11/10. A must if you are in the area.

Highlight of our trip to Western Cape. We stayed at the Dwyka Lodges, and literally everything was great. (1) We saw, from very up close, Elephants, Rhinos, giraffes, cheetahs and white lions. The ranger (Ethan) put a lot of effort to make sure we had a good trip. (2) the rooms were spectacular. (3) the service was perfect (4) and even the food excelled our expectations. 100% recommended to anyone that wants a safari-like experience but close to Cape Town.

Where do I start?? Amazing place - 5 star service. Food is amazing. The diversity of the wildlife is great. Our game ranger - Marco was simply fantastic - he made it a duty to ensure we had a true safari experience, always engaging and well versed in the species. Will definitely return.

It was our first Safari and first time at Sanbona. It was really impressive, the landscape, the animals. Honestly we had a total other expectation on a Safari while seeing only on TV but this experience was a lot better, a lot more real. The only thing was that our 3y old boy couldn't go with on the game drive but that was our fold. So we decided to departure one day earlier and the team was so flexible in handle this. A bit shout out to Johan out Host and PJ our Guide. We will come back, definitly

Highlight of our trip to Cape Town. This reserve is a magnificent place with great people working there. Our ranger, Jonathan, was so great! Thanks to him we saw elephants, rhinos, cheetahs, buffalos, kudus, giraffes, and many more beautiful animals. Our room( we stayed at tented lodge) was incredible and the service was outstanding

Divine experience incredible and magical. Highly recommend. Exquisite all inclusive. From the service to the food and lodging and very highly skilled and trained game rangers. I could have stayed here for days. Also shout out to my game ranger Jordan who took my mother and I on a spectacular journey. A timeless adventure that will never be forgotten.

Wow! Wow! Wow! This place is one of the most beautiful places ever. If you are planning to do a safari while staying in Cape Town, this is worth the 3.5 - 4 hour drive. Plan to stay here at least two nights. Not only is the service impeccable but rooms are clean with amazing views (and amazing bathrooms!!) The food was fantastic, they take time to plan out your meal schedule with your drives which is lovely. This reserve is a non-profit so all the money they make at the lodges goes towards conservation and ethical practices towards the wildlife. It's worth supporting Sanbona and spending your time and money here! Every detail of our stay was impeccable and planned by the amazing staff. Our safari guide was Ben. Let me tell you about Ben, he is kind, funny and passionate about the animals. He created an unique experience for our game drives, we couldn't have asked for a better guide. He really just wants all his guests to have an unforgettable experience. He makes the 6am drives worth while when you're still just waking up. Highly recommend this place to anyone, you won't be disappointed. It's very secluded, peaceful, relaxing and every room has an incredible view. Thank you sanbona for this once and a lifetime experience!

What an amazing experience! We had 4 safari tours during two days. Everyone was very friendly and flexible. The ranger was a real professional, passionate and very motivated to make our safari to the best things we experienced in our life. We had the chance to see lions, rhinos, cheetahs, hippos, giraffes, zebras and other interesting animals, birds, reptiles. The team of the resort pays a lot of attention to detail and has a lot of patience for the guests wishes. Thank you so much for having us. And big thank you to P-J, best ranger of the world :) We will definitely come back.

If you are looking to book safari I could not recommend Sanbona enough. Besides the incredible animals you have the most amazing lodges, the service which is second to none and the gorgeous food. Special mention to our guide Marco who was incredible, so knowledgeable and a credit to Sanbona!

We have just come back from a brilliant trip to South Africa. We decided to spend 2 nights at Sanbona Wildlife Reserve and it was a fantastic experience. From the moment we arrived to the end of the trip we felt totally spoilt. The food and wine was delicious. Our guide for our Game drives, Claudia worked her magic and we managed to spot loads. The staff really could not do enough for us and we had an amazing stay...thank you Sanbona

We visited Sanbona as part of our honeymoon. Every single aspect of the experience exceeded our expectations! We stayed in Gondwana and the rooms were absolutely gorgeous, so cosy comfortable and spacious. The underfloor heating was an extra treat! The views were also spectacular and the beds so comfortable! Our guide, PJ was absolutely amazing. He is so knowledgeable and passionate about what he does. We learned so much from him and honestly he opened our eyes to the work that Sanbona are doing for the wildlife. We were actually so emotional saying goodbye to him and will miss his stories! We seen so many incredible animals and to have an opportunity to see them in the wild was breath-taking. We said this would be a once in a lifetime trip, but we will definitely be back again and we hope to meet PJ and all the team again. The food was absolutely delicious, a lovely selection that changed very day. The staff in the restaurant were so friendly and accommodating and just genuinely lovely people. Angus looked after us so well every day. We thoroughly enjoyed every single meal from breakfast, lunch, dinner and snacks in between! Excellent hospitality! There was a lovely lady who checked us in and hosted throughout our stay but unfortunately i cant remember her name now. She was incredibly kind and professional. She checked on guests throughout the day ensuring we all had everything we needed. Such a gem!πŸ‘ŒπŸ€© I could go on and on about how amazing Sanbona is. We just fell in love with the place. Thank you to everyone for the memories and see you again in the future! Lots of Love, Tanya and Damo from Ireland xx

DO SANBONA if you want a great safari experience in the Western Cape. I was sceptical as some others don't have great reputations but this is a properly interesting rewilding experiment and with great luxury service thrown in. It was wonderful.

This was truly a once in a lifetime experience. Well here and didn’t want to leave. We got so lucky to have Ben as our private safari driver. He took us out on four different safari drives and focused on seeing the animals that we wanted to see the most. I honestly cannot say enough amazing things about my stay. They really do go out of their way to make sure that everything is perfect. Our room was beautiful and fully stocked. I was able to get the most amazing massage during my stay. And the food was amazing.

Amazing experience! All the staff were friendly: lodge staff, private transfer drivers and safari guides. The other resort guests were even friendly. The room at Dwyka was amazing and the food was phenomenal. The staff went out of their way to make our honeymoon even better by leaving us a honeymoon package while we were away on our first safari. They did everything possible to make you feel welcome. The safari drives were amazing as well. The guides were very knowledgeable and would communicate with each other so we could all see the animals once they were tracked. We saw some pretty big animals in our two drives like the giraffes, elephants, rhino and cheetah to name a few. The landscapes were breathtaking as well. We would most definitely return!

I could not recommend Sanbona enough, we had the most incredible time and every single member of staff made sure of this. The experience was just second to none, I would highly recommend!! We learnt so much and thoroughly enjoyed every second of our stay! We went for 2 nights during our honeymoon in South Africa, it was incredible but we do wish we stayed for longer.

A special place with a special place in our hearts after our engagement there πŸ’› One of the best our experiences of our lives! We had a truly wonderful stay in the Tilney Manor hosted by the Angus, Monica and their amazing team. They were so friendly, hospitable and went above and beyond to help us with all our requests (including helping me organise the proposal!). Our rooms were a gorgeous and spotlessly clean. Plus the food and drink was exceptional with a host of different options at each meal. Jan our safari guide was incredibly passionate and knowledgable about the wildlife and went the extra mile (miles!) on the reserve to find lots of different animals for our group. The night sighting of a majestic mountain leopard and the walk by from a herd of serene elephants were particularly wildlife highlights for us. Plus Jan took further time out of his day to take us star gazing one evening, which was a spectacular experience in itself. Honestly can’t recommend this place highly enough. We hope to be back one day to celebrate our anniversary! George & Emma

The whole experience blew my expectations away. Having been in travel for so long , you have expectations of a garden route safari, and the guides , wildlife, and overall experience was truly outstanding. I have told my entire team that there is no point flying guests to Kruger, rather go to Sanbona! Massive thanks to the entire team.

Everything about Sanbona was incredible and worth every penny. Ethan was an amazing guide and we saw a cheetah eating its prey, white lions, so many giraffes, buffalos, elephants, and so many other animals. The food was also delicious and had an amazing variety. Wait staff was also lovely, kind, and considerate. The tents were AMAZING, you truly felt transported to another place. 10/10 would recommend this experience to anyone.

An unforgettable experience. Everything was amazing. The staff at Tilney Manor seemed as happy as us to be here, everyone was so friendly, this made the atmosphere very unique. The reserve is the perfect place to see wild animals in a natural and respectful environment. Shout out to our fantastic game drive ranger Adrian, so knowledgeable and eager to share his passion!

non profit game reserve in the Kleine Karoo area of the West Cape. Great example of fynbos habitat with the wildlife which has been present historically in the region. Most of the larger mammals have been reintroduced and their populations are now stable in the reserve. The reserve is vast with hopes of expanding into adjacent government land creating a more natural setting for the fauna to roam in. camps are intimate and high end, the highlight is game drives with dedicated, passionate and knowledgeable guides.

A 5-star experience for game watching on a fantastic location in the middle of nature. Our ranger Claudia brought us to places very close to the animals and passionately informed us about wildlife. The staff in the lodge (we stayed in Gondwana) were very friendly and helpful and every other evening a delicious BBQ buffet around the camp fire. The rooms are very spacious, with an amazing view, very clean. Thank You to the whole team for giving us this unforgettable experience!!

Spectacular experience at Sambona Wildlife Reserve! We visited the reserve's Dwyka Tented Lodge during the pandemic and felt very safe with all staff adhering to the protective measures. Booking and checking in was seamless. The safari walks and drives were spectacular. Our guides, Chris and Jordan, were very professional, friendly and full of knowledge about the local fauna and flora. The lodge is a gem located under beautiful rock structures. Food was average, yet abundant. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone looking for a memorable experience in driving distance from Cape Town.
