We had the most amazing stay at Birkenhead! The hotel gave us a room upgrade upon arrival and were very accommodating about us having an early check in. All staff were so lovely! The room was stunning and we had a lovely view of the ocean. The food at Birkenhead was also sublime! Some of the best food we’ve had in South Africa. We had a 10/10 stay and look forward to coming here again in the future :)

stayed here for a 3rd time in Feb 2022! We will probably come back. One of my favorite hotels. Great food, great service :) They are upgraded us because we are 'loyal' customers, which was greatly appreciated.

this place does not compare to any place you have stayed before. we were just there for part of our honeymoon and it was the most incredible experience. shane, craig and the entire team are absolutely unmatched. we’re already looking to plan our next trip!

Genuinely one of the nicest hotels we have been to. Everything is absolutely first rate from the staff to the whole ambiance of the public spaces. A truly amazing spot with just perfect views of the ocean.

I had a wonderful stay at the Birkenhead House hotel, a luxury resort overlooking the stunning Walker Bay. The hotel is located on a cliff-top between two beautiful beaches, and offers amazing views of the ocean and the mountains. The staff were very friendly, attentive, and accomodating. The food was delicious and varied, and the wine selection was impressive. The room was spacious and elegant, with a comfortable bed, a flat-screen TV, a DVD player, and a mini-bar. The bathroom was also large and well-equipped, with a bath and a shower. The hotel has two swimming pools, a spa, and a gym, and offers activities such as whale watching, ocean safaris, surfing, and wine tasting. The hotel is also close to town, where you can find shops, restaurants, and galleries. I would highly recommend the Birkenhead House hotel to anyone looking for a relaxing and luxurious getaway in South Africa.

Extremely disappointing spa visit. Compared to other spas in the price class. My husband and I visited Birkenhead house for massages, unfortunately accommodation was fully booked at the time of booking. The spa experience in it’s entirety was very disappointing. - You are barely ushered into the front door and then you find the “spa” (which is just a few outside rooms). No real spa atmosphere. It kind of felt they just want you to be quick - a hit it and quit it. - Nothing offered to drink whilst waiting as with other spas - loadshedding started (we completely understand) but the generator was right outside our couples room. Now half way through that was our “soothing” spa sound. And the other staff were talking out loud outside the room at the back - if you are not an in-house guest you aren’t allowed to make use of the pool. This was extremely disappointing. Even at spas like the Leeu collection you can at the very least make use of the facility. - no showers to rinse of the oil from the massage. We were expected to put on the clothes we came with, over the oil (which made some stains) and on top of that it was very very hot, get in the car and leave. My therapist, Lulu, was extremely kind and made me feel at ease as I was having a pregnancy massage. Unfortunately my husband got quite a bit of beating with his massage. He was bruised all over his shoulders the next day as his therapist used her elbows to massage him. We often go for massages and the therapists usually use their forearms. But he looked terrible after this massage. So much so that he doesn’t want to go for a massage again! For something that was supposed to be a treat before our baby comes, was just a disappointment. For the first time I felt I have wasted money on a massage!

The most stunning location! Breakfast on the edge of the deck overlooking the ocean. Room deco is beautiful, attention to detail impeccable. Many thanks to Shaun and the staff. I can't fault anything. Will definitely be back.

Awesome. We are on a 2 week trip, visiting 5 different places in Africa, anthus is place number 3, and it is awesome.

Great place to be! We saw whales from the terrace and loved the room and kindness. Minus 1 star for the spa… our manicure and pedicure was not really to the standard

Probably the best address in Hermanus. The setting is spectacular and one can watch the wales right from the restaurant/pool terrace. The rooms are spacious and luxurious and the food is delicious. For lunch they do a tapas selection. The staff is friendly and professional and will go out of their way to accommodate you.

Unbelievable service... From the moment you stop the car at the entrance you Are overwhelmed by the level of excellence.. Whether it's the friendly helpful staff... Breathtaking views... And a feeling of luxury!! The icing is the VEGAN menu... The chef went above and beyond.. Nothing beats this... We will be back. Thank you @birkenheadhouse.. You are amazing and well deservant of your 5 star rating.

What a beautiful place! Birkenhead House is perfect for the modern yet laid-back type of people. Absolutely exquisite!

Pricey, but the service is incredible. I highly recommend it if you want to visit Hermanus. Last stayed: June 2021 Wonderful service as always. Breathtaking views. In room snacks not as bountiful as I remember. Netflix on your television is a great addition.

Wow. What an amazing lunch. The location and view is one of a kind. Ashley, our waiter, was one of the best waiters I've experienced as well - most definitely contributed to the 5 starts. Food was delicate and delicious. Thank you for hosting us. Compliments all round.

Lovely place, the views are breathtaking, the restaurant opens out onto a deck that overlooks the ocean. Simply spectacular. We had a set menu of prawns and fish & chips , which was enjoyable. The staff are also quite friendly. I would definitely recommend.
