Beautifully maintained historic building, gardens and interior. Clearly a well loved building and and owner who cares for its history and preservation. Friendly and helpful staff and owner who are always there for a smile and a chat. Highly recommended!

A wonderful Hotel well preserved in this lovely herotage village. Charming owner, friendly staff and spotlessly clean, we enjoyed the short stay! Will be back for sure!

We spent two night in the double bedroom suite at this Hotel in the quaint and peaceful village of Stanford, but a mere 20 minute drive from the larger & busier town of Hermanus ( where we braved the cold Atlantic for a dip in the tidal pool after a coastal walk) . The Hotel is spotlessly clean and well-maintained and the staff helpful and attentive yet unobtrusive. Manager Willem helped us book a glorious sunset river cruise on the Lady Stanford river barge. We did not eat at the Hotel, but this allowed us to sample meals at the various restaurant establishments in the village and otherwise we self-catered using the kitchen & fridge in the communal entertainment area (cheese and preserves from local farms & Goosebumps bread from the OK at the entrance to the village are a great combo). The double bedroom consists of two bedrooms, one with a double bed & the second with two single beds and a bathroom with a bath only, but lovely local essential oil liquid soap. The linen was high quality & spotless and the beds comfortable. As two women , we felt extremely safe at the Hotel & on our walks around the village. Parking at the hotel was under shady trees and behind security gates. We would highly recommend the Stanford Hotel for a wonderful break- close enough to Cape Town for a few days away ( But you will want to stay longer :) and to the amenities of Hermanus, yet far enough to feel that you have truly 'escaped' city life.

My husband and I spent three wonderful nights at the charming Stanford Hotel, which is extremely well placed to explore the quaint but lively village of Stanford and is also within walking distance of the Klein Rivier. We were lucky enough to be visiting on the weekend and were able to enjoy the lovely Saturday morning market which is held on the hotel's front stoep. There are a variety of restaurants close to the hotel to enjoy a breakfast, lunch or supper, or even the guilty pleasure of delicious ice cream from Don Gelato across the road. We stayed in a spacious suite with a very comfortable double bed with clean crisp linen, an extremely large bathroom (shower and bath) and a spacious sitting room. French doors opened from the sitting room onto a private garden with table and chairs to relax in with a cup of tea. In addition, there is a spacious and comfortable guest lounge across the hotel courtyard. The beautiful old buildings and the gardens are well maintained and peaceful. The hotel management team were extremely friendly and helpful at all times. It was a truly peaceful and relaxing country escape.

Such a fantastic place to stay over and enjoy the sights and sounds of Stanford. There is a stunning market outside the hotel on Saturday mornings.

It's a beautiful place. We wanted to eat dinner, but they don't have a restaurant.

Why on earth has google added its own star grading ? The hotel hasn’t been graded, and clearly exceeds the 2 stars that Google has invented. Take a look at the photos yourself and see!

I spent a week at The Stanford Hotel during August together with family. We booked the two cottages (Bambi & Sixpence). The hotel owner went out of her way to accommodate all special requests, directed us to two amazing wine estates when we wanted to explore, shared info about where to go and eat etc., and was available pretty much 24/7 to attend to our requests. We found the two cottages to be exceptionally clean, equipped with everything you could possibly need AND I HAVE to comment on the beds ... the quality of the bed and the linen were second to none ... I have not slept that well in years! Thanks to the team at Stanford Hotel for giving us a special week away as a family with memories we will always cherish.

Penny was a very accommodating host and we even got upgraded to the little bungalow as a wedding party was staying - the wedding was nearby and she thought we should have more privacy which was a lovely gesture. She was so friendly and helpful. Would definitely recommend and return if we came to this part of the world again.

We stayed here as part of our honeymoon trip, and had a fantastic time. Penny is a great host, and Stanford is a wonderful little town. If you need to 'get away' then this is the perfect location Lots of good options for outdoor activities, or to just sit quietly and relax. We had an international guest tagging along with us and found Stanford to be a great option to see more of SA 'off the beaten track'.

I recently stayed at the Stanford Hotel and thoroughly enjoyed my stay. Accommodation was very good. Largest bathroom I've ever had in a hotel, and I've stayed in many ! Owner and staff went out of their way to make mine a pleasant stay. Therefore I find it hard to take any negative comments, posted here by others, seriously. I can only think that they were having a bad (hair) day !! Thanks Stanford ...... from Bruce Winterbach

Had a birthday celebration with a friend and Penny, who owns the hotel, went out of her way to make it memorable.

The Stanford hotel is wonderfully located and is just on Stanford’s main road. The historic building and hotel garden is beautiful. The staff were helpful and friendly. I would highly recommend staying at this hotel.

Did not stay. Only trying to get breakfast but was curtly informed for guests only. Not at all welcoming.
