Grootbos was wonderful. The rooms were really nice, and the service was amazing. Our room had an amazing view out over the bay. Had a lovely tour of the grounds and the guide was very knowledgeable about the plants and birds of the area. Really neat to see their farming area and how they use that with the lodge. Wish we had stayed here longer. The kids liked the playroom too after it got dark (they wanted to be outside hiking and birdwatching during the day). It has foosball, ping-pong, billiards and more for them.

I don’t think I’ve ever had a better travel experience than Grootbos. The grounds and surrounding fynbos are fascinating and beautiful. The entire experience is centered around appreciating the beauty and uniqueness of the area - which includes the daily activities and meals planned for guests as part of the rate paid. So many fantastic folks we interacted with, but our guide Gareth stood out. He is so knowledgeable and did whatever he could to make our experience a 10/10. This reserve and hotel comes with the highest regards and recommendation. I can’t wait to (hopefully) visit again in the future.

Had an amazing time, the service was incredible, the guides knowledgeable, and the views astounding! The staff was also very accommodating, we enjoyed our horseback ride, cave visit, and the floral safari was super fun. The food was delicious and we were impressed by the variety of flavors that were offered. Our visit was punctuated with our "honeymoon" dinner service for our last night at the reserve. We were so lucky to have the opportunity to visit and can't wait to go back!

Just spent time at this beautiful hotel, which I enjoyed. However, my positive memories are now severely compromised due to the irresponsible behavior of Estelle Marx who manages the hotel's gift shop. She created a huge package shipping problem for me which I am still trying to resolve. Be aware!! When dhe tells you that your merchandise will be shipped with care and accuracy, don't believe her. Shameful!!

The view of this venue is unbelievable and the food is amazing too! The atmosphere was also really good until some manager, I believe his name starts with an H, was very condescending to some staff and patrons. I lost my want to be there. Which is funny because he was very bubbly towards some people and condescending towards others.

This 5 Star Reserve offers everything you can think off. Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner Made with local ingredients. Our Guide Tiaan was execptional knowledgable and transported His passion for Nature. The tour to the caves and the flower Tour are a must when you stay there. Thanks to the staff for the unique frog Card for my son.

One of the most hospitable and restful holidays we've ever had. These guys make every visit special and I am thinking of kidnapping their chefs. Definitely worth a visit for the beautiful nature reserve, fantastic food, wonderful staff and luxurious rooms. Also buy their book on botany so they can prosper.

The rooms in the 5* Bellavista Lodge were superb. Luxurious and spacious with fabulous views. And a complete kitchen. However the rest of the lodge was mediocre. One small cramped dining room with limited food on offer. (Schneider's Kitchen, which is right next door, is spacious, but only opens Wed to Saturday)

Grootbos was a punctuation on our honeymoon trip as a place we were going to, purely for the whale watching tour. As our luck would have it, rough seas prevented our tour but the staff did all they could to try and slot one in. But then, everything and everyone else stole our hearts. Firstly, Gareth who set the tone for our trip taking us down to the caves, showing us the flower trails and regaling us with great banter and knowledge. Secondly, Chef Benjamin’s kitchen along with the impeccable and endearing service of Bobo and Japan meant that we were always filled to the brim and smiling ear to ear. And finally, Anande in the spa whose magical hands have kneaded out some of my toughest knots. And when all of this was done, we returned to our rooms which were peaceful, modern and relaxed.

What an incredible place, if you are looking for a beautiful getaway in the tranquil setting that offers all Mother Nature has to offer, this is where it is at, simply beautiful set to world class standards with lots to do and close enough to the usual city demands Love this place ❤️

Our experience at Grootbos Forest Lodge was absolutely fantastic. The staff is the friendliest of all lodges we’ve stayed at, the food - every dish - mouthwatering and carefully prepared, layers of flavor, it plays with your mind. Our room had the most amazing views over fynbos, the ocean and mountains - we just wanted to sit on the deck and enjoy the tranquility. But we had a spa treatment (best ever), a game drive (first ever floral drive), and regular walks through a beautiful milkwood forest to the restaurant for amazing food experiences that interrupted our lazy days 😀. If you want to rest, rejuvenate, reconnect, Grootbos is the best place to do it!

Our stay was pleasant. The suite was lovely and really 5 star. Our guude was very knowledgable. The food was well presented and plated, but the taste was a letdown. Service was average- turndown at 20:30 when you are already in the room and after breakfast at 09:00 they start changing your room for the next guests (with you in the room) while you have a 11 o' clock check out time. We asked for a porter for our luggage which never showed, so we carried our luggage to the car. This was unacceptable and speaks volumes of management. No sundowners was offered as per package or the bottle of Creation Merlot. A cheap Lomonde Rose was offered and as we asked about this, blame was placed on the staff, but still not remedied. I have stayed in similar places where I was treated as a valued guest and not as a sponsor to their endevour. Not worth the almost R10k per night.

Nice. But pricy for what it is. Nice to have adventures to fill the day. Felt similar to Lekkerwater, and Cederburg wilderness lodge, in terms of all-inclusive & family activities, but much bigger. Good food, beautiful scenery. Nice walking trails around the property for exercise. We had a great guide and enjoyed planning our tree and learning about the biodiversity and the local township. We were taken to ATV with another tour guide that was unfriendly and we were so grateful we weren’t paired with her for our stay or it would have been sad. Kids club at the time was lacking, but overall nice. If you are a local and can go on special or out of season, I’d recommend it. But there isn’t much to do that you couldn’t book yourself, if you are from the area. We did the beach/cave afternoon adventure, horseback riding (very short experience, but beautiful Horses and nice staff), ATV (cool climb to summit, lots of different terrain, ducking under trees!), too much eating, “hiking”, whale sightseeing tour. We didn’t have nice weather, so no pool time experiences.

Less than two hours drive from Cape Town and an hours drive from where the warm Indian Ocean and the cold Atlantic meet – close to the southernmost tip of a continent filled to the brim with natural beauty, the warmest people and the most exceptional experiences. Lies Grootbos Nature Reserve, a beautiful experience that lives in harmony with nature. This incredible lodge blends into the mountain, forest and sea. At Grootbos, the team go beyond simply conserving this pristine wilderness they call home. This team is constantly researching, innovating and pioneering new ways of doing things – in order to transform the lives of community members as well as preserve 3500 hectares of botanical and wildlife treasures. The Grootbos Florilegium is a contemporary botanical art project depicting both the botanical and pollination detail of the Cape Floral Kingdom. The artworks create a rich narrative documenting the flora and pollination stories of the reserve and it’s surrounding regions. The Grootbos Foundation is a non-profit organisation, established in 2003 with a commitment to conserve the critically endangered fynbos. Since then, its activities have extended beyond the natural environment alone to include the people living within it. A wide variety of initiatives have been developed for the training, upliftment and empowerment of local communities, with the potential to make a powerful and lasting impact. Spending a day in this magical place really puts conservation, community upliftment and the constant education through plants, fynbos and sport! And not lastly, the accommodation is nothing more than perfection.

👍👍 Probably the best waiter we have ever had the honor of serving us. Local English chap that knows his food and area very well.
