The harbor is an ideal location with the outside deck upstairs for this warm and friendly mariner-style pub and restaurant. Staff efficient and attentive. Great value weekday specials with generous portions. Good Irish coffee too!

Super friendly service and really scrumptious chicken wings! Sitting outside on the deck on a summer's day is a must for a great view of the harbour.

Worst restaurant experience in Gansbaai. Can't even cook a Sunnyside up egg (see pic), waited an hour for a breakfast order......if management wants to make a change, I suggest you start with your service staff, no follow-up on patrons waiting. Took drink and food order only once we called to cancel the order were they apparently busy dishing up. People arrived after us received their food, finished and left while we were still waiting.

A good local spot. The ambience was nice and goes well with the feel of the town. The food was nice and the host knowledgeable and friendly. Just be aware while going during load shedding as the approach road is not lit and finding the place may not be easy for outsiders. Not the restaurants fault but just a fair warning.

Nice little place, service was good, friendly staff and really efficient. I ordered the calamari and it was delicious. As you can see I started eating before the pic, (super hungry) has a deck upstairs to enjoy the view, and inside with big windows for a enjoyable breeze during the hot summer days. Will go back again

I love coming to the boathouse! The food is always up to standard, the staff are always very friendly and the vibe is great. The location on the Harbour is amazing and i can spend hours looking out at the harbour activities. An awesome place to grab a quick bite or spend time with friends. Cant wait for my next visit!

This place deserves more than 5 starts! Absolute treat you don't want to miss! Brilliant service, absolutely friendly and welcoming staff and environment. Great food and drinks A must visit on your list of things to do.

This is the second time we've been disappointed with The Boathouse. The food was oily, they got the orders wrong, we had to wait for them to go buy milk for our coffee and waited an hour for 4 pieces of toast. We've been coming to Gansbaai for 8 years and were regular clients of The Boathouse but this will be the last time. Absolutely disgusted.

The two ladies who assisted us the last two days were absolutely amazing in their service. Great view of Gansbaai Harbour especially when you have a seat on the top deck.

If you're looking for an authentic experience, this might NOT be the place. The view from the deck is great, but the food was average (not worth the price) and the beer is incredibly overpriced. The service was bad. I had to keep running downstairs to order drinks. This would've been understood if you were paying a cheap rate to have a night out, but for the price we paid, this was a bad deal...

Waited 2 hours for our food, which came in drips and drags. When I spoke to the waiter, here response was "she's not the manager, i have to go and find her. I refused to pay for the food that I had sent back. Useless staff, kitchen didn't know what they were doing. The worst place anyone can go for breakfast. I hated the place, and the incompetent staff didn't know what they were doing.

Food was good, not great. Service was the most disappointing. Saw our waiter 3 times in total. She never made sure we were happy with our food, never came by to take another drink or desert order. Didn't even see her in our way out.

Overall a nice place. They stock good Chardonnay. I was disappointed with the line fish which was yellowtail. It was dry and that spilled it. However the hake my husband had was good, although not beer battered… just lightly dusted with flour and deep fried. Still, it’s a nice place to sit and visit.

We were told that because the kitchen was busy, we have about an hours wait until the food arrives, the table that entered after us received their food before we did... an hoir later. The waiters walk past the tables empty handed without noticing everones drinks are empty... Is that not a good chance for upselling? The place is dirty, and the smoking section breathes out into the non smoking area. Regardless... still amazingly delicious food. The grilled hake was perfect... One star, because of the service and cleanliness. But then, most people say: 'It's Gansbaai, what do you expect?'

Bartender’s service was quick and friendly. Staff followed up to make sure we were happy and they gave us an awesome table by the side to view the harbor. The location is rustic and cozy with plentiful parking outside. You have to drive down to the entrance of the harbor and you will see it on the right hand side.

The Boat House in Gansbaai is a small Pub and Grub on the Harbour side close to the Vis Fabriek. It's nothing spectacular but the food tasty. The facility requires a face-lift but the locals enjoy the social get togethers. Try it if you in the area.

We ordered Kabeljou. So disappointed. We received only the fin part of the fish. As a guesthouse owner in Pearly Beach and all the recommendations I did to them during the year, what a disaster! The waiter appologise but this could have landed on a tourist plate with worst consequences.

This place gives an old school vibe to it. The food while you wait a little is well worth it and decent size portions. The menu was limited and some options were not available which is a pity.

We have been supporting The Boathouse forever..loving their atmosphere and quality of food.....recommending it to who ever visits Gansbaai....but omw how bad was the food etc today....refried calamari...hake like biltong....snails with stones and green muscles...no manager or owner to explain....never ever again.....worst wxperience ever....🤮🤢

Oh my gosh the food was incredible and the value for money was beyond what we expected. We are in awe of this hidden gem in Gansbaai, with beautiful views. Granted it's a bar, so there was not an area we could sit without reeking of tobacco, that was very unpleasant. I wish they would introduce a smoke-free area. With that in place, they'd get a 11/10 from me!

Sunday late lunch. Calamari was great, fish was a bit under seasoned. There was only 1 lady who served the whole restaurant and she greet guests, serve guests, clean tables and is handling payments. So unfortunately there will be a bit of service that is lacking, witch is definitely the owners fault. No point of sale/ cash register to print your bill and that is also where you must wait for the poor lady to do that as well. The restaurant is very affordable and the portions is more than enough.

Cool little spot to go to for a drink with a friend. Not a large variety on the menu but good to satisfy a fair amount of tastes. Food was lovely.
