Nice coaster. Smooth ride with loops and cool S-turns and corkscrews. Not the fastest, but still fun. The problem with this ride is that no matter how long the wait in line is. The workers constantly send this coaster with half the seats empty. I don't understand why they don't have a single rider line and fill in all the empty seats.

Over the years Hershey Park has added many roller coasters, but this coaster in my opinion is the best in the park! I love the sensation you get when your feet dangle on this thing. It is very smooth for being over 20 years old and it is very well maintained just as the other coasters here. The front seat is the best seat on this thing. It is a very popular coaster as typically this will be one of the longest wait times. I highly recommend this!

Fairly nice coaster with a dangling feet design. The ride is short, but pretty active. The line for this coaster is usually not too bad since everyone swarms the newer coasters. If you have a big chest make sure you go for one of the inner seats. They have a bit more room, and there are at least two rows that have oversized seats. The best ride is either in front or back row. Front if you would like a view, and back if you prefer a speedier sensation with whip. You usually havee to wait about 3-4 extra trains if you want the front, but the back is usually available with little or no delay.

This coaster for it’s type is SO SMOOTH. I highly recommend front row. You barely notice going upside down. A VERY good one for people working up to bigger coasters.

Great Bear is one of my all time favorite inverted coasters. I haven't ridden Candymonium, but it's currently my favorite coaster at Hersheypark. It's a forceful and well paced coaster with a cool setting. I think every inverted coaster is better with a helix, and usually that comes at the very end. For Great Bear it happens high in the sky right before the first drop, and it's quite forceful. The 3 inversions right after the first drop are excellent. Two forceful loops back to back, with one turning you the other way. The zero-g roll is probably my favorite on any invert, as the twist is forceful, whippy, and rapid with no gradual entry or exit into it. After this the layout gets unconventional again, taking a hill that banks hard left crossing the water on the way down. This is an awesome element which has airtime in the front row on the rise, and strong g forces on the turn on the way down. After this is a straightaway over the water, where you can really feel the ride's speed as you zoom past SooperDooperLooper and you go through keyhole supports for a unique footchopper effect. For the finale, a hard bank left underneath the monorail, which aggressively then twists to the right into a final corkscrew, followed by a gentle meander over Sooper again into the brake run. Aside from the great pacing, unique layout, speed, footchoppers, and forceful elements, Great Bear has an awesome setting, either over water, midways, or past other rides. This is the icing on the cake for an amazing coaster.

This B&M Invert is so unique and I absolutely love it. I love hearing it’s loud roar which actually sounds like a Bear at moments. It’s super whippy especially through that Zero G Roll I wish it was a bit longer

Don't sleep on Great Bear. This is one of the better B&M inverts that there are. This ride may be small with the inversion being the only stand out parts, but the whole ride still has a bite.

Great Bear has one of the coolest locations in all of Hersheypark; right over Spring Creek and the Hollow! The roar of Great Bear is easy to hear in these areas and is very intimidating. The ride itself has a unique helix into the drop, which gives it an extra bit of speed into it. This ride has four intense inversions including a Vertical Loop, Immelmann, Zero-g Roll, and Corkscrew. The corkscrew is my favorite part of the ride because you don’t see it coming and it is very whippy. Though it is a bit short, it is still one of Hersheypark’s best coasters and is worth riding! Feel free to check out my other reviews of Hersheypark’s coasters and have a great day!

WOW...WOW, WOW, WOW. That drop is CRAZY, and the corkscrew towards the end really catches you off gaurd. This thing is relentless, and doesn't give you any time to breathe. FYI, it tells you to keep your head back for a reason. I made the mistake of leaning forward and getting slammed back and sideways into my seat and restraint. Had a bump for 4 days. Great ride as long as you don't do what I did, lmao. (Also, I recommend riding this in the front.)

Prior to this today I was terrified of roller coasters but this one had to be my favorite. The shoulder harnesses were comfy and snug and the ride was smooth. Recommend for anybody

Love this ride! So fun! The only hanging roller coaster in the park but it's a total blast and not scary at all.

One of the best rides in the park. Actually it is one of the best rides across many parks.

I love this coaster, worth the wait, go fir the front of you can. The cool air from the water rides next to it makes the line much more bear-able.

A fun smooth seated coaster where your feet dangle. It makes a cool growling sound as it goes through smooth corkscrews and loops! Great ridae

Great inverted ride, some headbanging was experienced but nothing out of the ordinary for this type of ride.

This is one of my favorite rides at Hershey Park. Love the experience of your feet dangling and this roller coaster rides so smoothly! All the corkscrews and the loops are just a fun experience. The wait was long, but the ride was worth it.

Great Bear is an excellent roller coaster experience! It's a steel coaster where the cars hang from the track. The ride is super smooth while you're taken through a loop and then a couple spirals that turn you upside down. The ride lasts about 2 minutes, but goes by fast since you are spun around so many different way that it's hard to tell where you are until you get to the end!

This is a great, whipy, and solid B&M invert. The pre drop helix makes looking around the town of Hershey very nice.

This is my favorite roller coaster of all time!!! I rode the front the first time I rode it best time of my life but when I sat in the first row before the back my harness was up and when we went down to the loop my harnesses click I was having a great time but when it clicked I was completely silent. I didn’t want to tell the conductor because I didn’t want to make the other people wait. Make sure to ride the front!! But overall still my favorite roller coaster.

Cute coaster thats pretty chill except for the single loop. 3 stars becuase they NEED to do something about all the bird droppings. I didnt capture half of it in my photo. We got stuck here during a storm and were doing our best to not sit in it.

look I'm no coaster enthusiast but great bear is one of if not my favorite coaster I've ever been on the first drop is a bit weird but other than that it is quite fun

Super fun and great ride. My only problem is I had a pretty bad problem with headbanging. No one I have talked to has ever had this problem so it's probably just a personal thing. Other than that, this ride is great.

Very different layout for a B&M invert (or really, any coaster for that matter), but it’s so much fun! One of my personal favorite coasters and second favorite coaster at the park!

  • 5/5 Sean Q. 2 years ago on Google
This coaster is my number 2 in the park for sure. Rode this in the front at night and definitely highly recommend if you are into big thrills! It is terrifying for sure and very smooth for an inverted coaster!

One of my favorite roller coasters and it is definitely very smooth for being an older coaster. I love the loops and the bear roaring sound it makes when you go on. I would definitely recommend 😁

This ride was very scary at first but after you went on it you just wanted to go on it 10 more times. I would recommend!
