A lovely little member of the Pig's stable of places. Quirky, stylish interior inside a deli style restaurant. There are only a few tables inside. It feels like a nice pub in the countryside but is actually an historic building built into the castle walls of Southampton (opposite the Grand Harbour Hotel). If the weather is good there are more tables outside. The menu is smaller than the other 'pigs', but the food and service are spot on. Bottled beers, wines and cocktails. Carpark is free for customers but gated.

From start to finish, they went above and beyond to ensure that our evening was unforgettable especially the soft spoken girl with auburn hair. As soon as we were seated, we immediately noticed the warm and inviting ambiance of the restaurant. Soft lighting and tasteful decor set the stage for a delightful meal. The service was skilfully orchestrated - effortlessly striking a balance between attentiveness and giving us the space to enjoy our conversation. What truly set this place apart was their exceptional ability to make us feel special and attended to throughout the evening. It was evident that every patron was being treated with the same level of care and attention. I wholeheartedly recommend this establishment to anyone in search of a memorable meal served with genuine warmth and professionalism.

We came for lunch on a Tuesday afternoon and were able to make a reservation. First of all, the inside of this restaurant is super cute and cozy! The people working were very friendly and courteous. The food was good. The menu is somewhat limited and the food maybe somewhat overpriced, but there is something for everyone. Kid friendly, too!

Enjoyed a very delicious meal here tonight for my birthday - I went with my husband and friends. Excellent service from friendly and attentive staff who had the balance between professional and welcoming spot on. The food was great and my husband had forwarned that I have an awkward intolerance to onions and they had kindly marked up the menu to let me know exactly what I would be able to safely choose - I really appreciated this as it made it so much easier for me to choose. The decor and ambience were really lovely.

What a brilliant hotel! The Pig is located near the cruise terminal in Southampton. It's within walking distance of City Cruise terminal and around 1.3 walking miles of Mayflower. Rooms are old worldly, boutique style intimate hotel. What made this hotel stand out for me was service. The staff and magnificent. Dinner was rustic and delicious with a deli bar type menu. You need to try the sausage roll and mixed salad plate. Breakfast was spot on too served in a skillet. Overall a great experience and highly recommend it.

Very disappointing coffee - We stopped into the Pig in The Wall for takeaway coffees before our ferry. Our first order was made incorrectly so we ordered again. Second time round they tasted quite unpleasant, very bitter and watery. Premium prices at £9 for two take away coffees, but very disappointing product. Left a sour taste, literally! Friendly staff and lovely hotel however!

Beautiful hotel, one of the comfiest beds I’ve ever slept in (and I’m not very good at sleeping in new beds). Staff are lovely and accommodating and the food is delicious. The only strange thing is paying for the car park if you’re a guest, should just be a part of the cost of the stay.

Stayed here under the 'Supper and Snooze' offer which is basically a deli supper with bed and breakfast for two at £220. The 'room' we were given was basically a converted attic space, which I believe they described as 'snug'! Snug was an understatement...you could only access one side of the bed by ducking to avoid the slanting ceiling eaves and only dress by sitting on the bed. The room was suitable for a single bed at the very best and the almost vertical stairs to the room were, in my opinion, quite dangerous! Our deli supper and breakfast was poor and not up to normal 'PIG' standards. I'm afraid this is one PIG we won't be returning to...sorry!

Below average lunch for two vegetarians. We ordered the broccoli and cauliflower soup and a side dish of new potatoes with spring onions and mustard. The soup arrived scalding hot - had to leave it for 10 minutes to cool down. Watery consistency and lacking in flavour. Croutons but no bread served for £8! The side dish wasn't much better - potatoes just about cooked and again not much flavour. Not what we expected for the price charged and the reputation of The Pig chain.

We only stopped in for lunch- did not stay at the hotel. A friend had recommended them for their ‘farm to table’ food- and I have a sensitive stomach, so wanted to give it a try. We sat at a seat by the window so we could people watch. We shared the goat cheese/crouton appetizer (yum!) and I ordered the tomato soup and the side slaw. The soup has bread chunks and it was wonderfully warm on this cloudy day. It was a big bowl and I could not eat it all. The slaw was pickled cabbage and carrots and I enjoyed it. Hubby ordered the ‘streaky bacon’ which was a very tender ham steak, and it came with roasted veggies and apples. Very tasty. I had a small glass of wine and hubs had a beer- total was 46 pounds. Service was friendly and efficient. We enjoyed the ‘grandma’s house’ ambience!!

What an amazing cosy hotel. From the moment we walked in everyone was very welcoming and friendly. The beds are very comfortable, the room we stayed in was lovely and very well equipped. Breakfast was beautiful. Every part of our stay was just exquisite. If you get the chance to stay here you have to try their sausage roll, they are delicious. With the hotel being located just a short walk into Southampton town center it makes the perfect stop for shopping and then to unwind. I will look forward to returning here.

I wouldn’t bother again. Service was inattentive. The dining room is nice but the view is of an intersection. The food is excellent but we were never offered coffee or pudding and we had to go to the bar to ask someone to take a drinks order and get the bill. Three waiting staff polishing cutlery, chatting and ignoring the floor. Bit disappointing because it could have been special.

We don’t usually leave reviews but me and my wife had the best experience we ever had dining with the pigs. Deli style food and the classic country rustic style decor is a lot more laid back than other pigs. Looks like they have around 10 indoor tables so very snug and personal. Your server really looks after you and all seem to be from different cultural backgrounds besides English so are very interesting to talk to about travel and cultures which is wonderful. Make sure to ask your server about the classic cocktails they’ll even make custom or decaf if you ask.

Fantastic location for tourists if you are cruising, every ship terminal is directly across the road, you can see the ships from the windows. Perfect location as you are also a few feet from the biggest shopping centre in Southampton which is full loads of different restaurants and amenities. If you wanted have lunch or dinner it is mainly salads, sausage rolls and cakes, all homemade as they claim to be a light food deli. The portions are small and priced high however all locally sourced ingredients within 25 miles including all alcoholic drinks. The dining area only has a few small tables some being very low down so can feel crowded at times. However they have much more space outside and have outdoor seating. You feel very well looked after by the staff who are from every corner of the world however know the history of the Southampton very well. The building is full of Southampton history as it is built straight into the Victorian walls that used to guard the city. If you are after fantastic customer service where the staff will cater to your every tiny request; (including things such as ringing you a taxi and bending the rules for you personally) and you want to get all Southampton has to offer by being right beside the cruise terminals and city centre and lots of restaurants this is the place for you. Also ask for a map they will give you a tour of the town and history lesson.

This is not a restaurant it is a bed and breakfast and apparently may be turned away if you haven’t booked as guests get first priority in tiny dining area. The only meat they sell is pork, hence the name The Pig. They do not sell any other meat types. They do sausages, bacon, pork scratchers, sausage rolls but that is all and salad and deserts. Decor is mismatched thrift finds, and they only play 60s music giving it that vintage feel, like visiting grandmas house. Very kind employees that work there, it’s an all female staff place. Thanks for looking after us, wife loved it.

The comfy rooms are very cost but exquisitely appointed with a shower and amenities to die for. The bed is also extremely comfortable resulting in a very good night's sleep. Dinner was unusual but also excellent. Don't go expecting meet and two veg this is more in a grazing style. The selection was good and catered well for both vegetarians and meat eaters alike. The wine list was also good and offered exceptional value. Would go back for sure.

Beautiful, atmospheric restaurant with friendly and engaging staff. From the moment we walked in we were greeted warmly and served promptly but not so much that you would feel rushed. The food was delicious, well seasoned, well cooked, nicely presented, everything you would want from a plate of food. We would and likely will be visiting again, very happy with our experience here. 10/10!

Great little Hotel, fab service and food Perfect city hotel, great location. Staff were lovely and friendly. Lunch and breakfast were very tasty. Room very comfortable and loved the teacakes. Only slight complaint in room 8 the unit with the fridge etc needs to be moved as too close to bed and not great if need to get up in night!

I can't believe how friendly and welcoming the staff were. The outside seating gets the sun all afternoon and is a wonderful place to be. I stopped off for a couple of drinks and had the pork belly, I couldn't be happier with my experience.

The best sausage roll I have ever had but for £8.00 it should be. My wife had the cheese board we were both pleased with the food. The service was a bit hit and miss, plenty of staff but more willing to talk amongst themselves tgen serve.

The Pig-in-the-wall is an extremely charming bed and breakfast spot, nestled into the Southampton city wall. In addition antique and historic construction, comfy beds, and the best shower I've had in all of Europe, The Pig offers fresh farm-to-table snacks and meals, a good wine list, and well-crafted cocktails. The staff are very friendly and helpful. We'll definitely be back to The Pig.

Excellent in every way. I was catching up with a very old friend who I'd not seen for a few years - we booked two rooms and had dinner the night we arrived. The service, from the moment we dropped our bags was warm and friendly and the atmosphere created by front of house (which also serves the bistro/deli area) instantly relaxed us. The rooms were lovely, the beds super comfortable, the shower really powerful and the toiletries - well, let's just say I'm a convert to their soaps - they're amazing! We had dinner in the bistro later and the food/wine (and cocktails) were exceptional (not unexpected, the Pig Hotel is famous for their excellent farm to table ethos) - I had belly pork and my friend a mushroom dish that I was almost tempted to order as an extra (my desire for a pud stopped me). The cheese platter I managed to inhale and I would have stayed for more wine but their food portions are so generous I staggered upstairs to my super comfy bed to dream of Tudor gardens (we'd visited the famous Tudor House situated just behind the hotel - defo worth a visit). I was sad to leave the next day (we had a sterling cooked breakfast - it set us up for the rest of the day) - it was that good and can totally see why The Pig Hotels merit their 5* reputations. Thank you for a thoroughly enjoyable stay.

Everything about our stay was Perfection. Our room was amazing. Clean and spacious. We ate dinner and breakfast downstairs and it was excellent. The croissants where to die for. Check in and out where so smooth. We where waiting for our Uber that never showed up to head to the cruise port. The gentleman at the desk gave us a ride without hesitation. Hospitality I would give %1000!!! I would highly recommend this place for more reasons then one. Hope to visit more Pigs.

My son and his wife held their wedding reception here this weekend. It can't, unfortunately, cater for large wedding receptions, however the venue is stunning with heaps of character. The staff are extremely helpful and friendly. The food was wonderful and expertly prepared as was the accommodation. Thanks to all concerned
