Premier Inn is my go to chain for good hotels at reasonable prices usually within good locations of touristy hot spots. We booked this hotel in Frome for a day at longleat and a day in Bath. Good location between both locations. I have only given a 2 star based on the hotel itself, staff wise I have given a 5 star. The hotel itself is looking pretty tired and out dated, rooms are less basic than most premier inns somehow, I thought they would be consistent across your chain. Staff...brilliant service from the young gentleman who was working on Saturday evening. He seemed to be the only staff member on site and sorted us out with a room change dude to an accident in our room (148) which led to the electricity tripping. We then moved to 135, just around the corner which was fine. Restaurant staff were a mixed bag, the young waitress on Saturday night was very helpful and friendly, yet Sunday mornings staff all looked a bit grumpy and as if they couldn't be bothered to be there. Big shout out to the gentleman, who I believe works in the kitchen who helped us out with a flat battery on the car Sunday morning. He saved us a lengthy wait from the breakdown company with his jump leads. The restaurant is in dire need of a good clean, and spruced up with some new furniture. The seats were all covered in dirt, walls and window sill areas nearby were all stinking which put me off my food a bit. I have attached a picture of one of the seats at our table, yet looking around where we were sat most of the chairs looked in the same poor condition. Would I stay at this hotel again? Probably not for the £110 we paid, considering how basic and lack of cleanliness in the communal areas.

Fabulous value for money and the staff were fantastic and really went above and beyond. We stayed at the Premier Inn, Frome this weekend as we were attending a wedding nearby and were responsible for the wedding cake. Due to the excessive heat we were worried that the cake wouldn’t survive. The helpful staff went out of their way to help us refrigerate it and were so incredibly helpful. The rooms are clean and comfortable and noticeably quiet. A massive thank you to your wonderful team!

There is no air conditioning at this hotel! I stayed here during the summer, and my goodness it was hot! Didn't sleep at all. If you want a good night's sleep during a heatwave, then don't stay here!

Overall a lovely stay, comfy beds clean room most importantly great service. During our stay we needed a few extra amenities and wanted something sorting out for us the lady on the desk was so extremely helpful I think she was called Kim a real credit to the team and certainly made our stay more enjoyable will definitely be returning when next in the area.

Can't fault this hotel, our 2 night stay was great. Room was ready early, clean, had everything we needed. Asked for extra pillows. The staff, all seem young but are extremely lovely and friendly, very willing to help. Only thing I would say is the beefeater was terrible, staff not so friendly, so avoid having breakfast/ dinner as a deal with the hotel. We refunded ours as it was terrible. Try elsewhere for food. But accommodation was great.

We stayed here for one night as a stopover after our Cornwall holiday. The hotel looks pretty run down from the outside and the rooms were ok. The staff were very friendly and helpful. We were given 2 cards for the room, one is a room key and the other card was for the electricity so you could leave it on when you left the room. Of course I mixed up the cards and left the room with the electricity key, the girl at the front desk was only too happy to help and swap them over on the computer. We had buffet breakfast in the morning which was enjoyable. We stayed in room 43, the hallway floors on the way down were very creaky so I'm pleased we were further along as I feel that would have disturbed us. When we had the windows open we could hear the traffic outside but over night we didn't have any disruptions and was an enjoyable sleep. We had a fan in our room as there's no AC and it was a comfortable temperature. My only concern was the dust in the room. When we had the above-bed purple light on you could see dust on the wall and when my young daughter was playing hide and seek with her sister and hid under the bed she came out covered in dust which made me feel quite ill!

Literally the worst night I have ever spent in a hotel They warned us up front they didn't have aircon, OK. But they said a fan would be provided and the windows opened. This is a lie. The windows open 1-2 inches maximum, so the fan is useless and when I left at 5:15am (missing the breakfast I had paid for), the room was still an unbearable 29c inside even though it had rained and was a pleasant 18c outside. A miserable, miserable experience. I was coming down with something and have been suffering from a serious lung infection since. Not their fault but it sure as he'll didn't help!

The location of this hotel was great for us with Longleat being only 15 minutes away. The hotel itself looks a bit run down from the outside. Its situated on quite a busy road, but we didn’t have any problems with traffic noise. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The evening meal and breakfast we had at the Beafeater was good, no complaints there at all. I do however have a negative, which is quite a big one, in that there is no air conditioning in the rooms and therefore it was extremely hot and stuffy, which although the hotel had provided us with a large fan, this didn’t help much and we all had a very uncomfortable night with not much sleep which doesn’t help if you have a big day out planned the next day!

Typical Premiere Inn, which was as expected. But it is located next to a very busy roundabout. Traffic noise is horrendous!!! All we could hear all night were the local Boy Racers with their loud exhausts. Not only that you have general traffic either braking or accelerating for the roundabout! There was no let up. This went on all night. If you want a good nights sleep, don’t stay here!!!

Hotel looked tired rooms had no Air con when paying Premier prices I expect more, stayed for 2 nights and I guess it's now company policy not to service the rooms on the second day even after asking the day before just not good enough. Dinner was disappointing for me but the other 2 meals was OK, I couldnt call my Fillet steak that was tough and more like fillet tail if that's what Beefeater call a fillet steak it's time to look at them selves. Think I'll be for other hotels in the future.

Very poor hygiene on the plates and bowls for breakfast. The majority of the dishware had old crusty food and grease on them. Also staked under the food preparation area that constantly collected dropping food with wheat etc.. Not very wheelchair or disabled friendly as the food is stacked up very high in unreachable places. When dining at an all you can eat breakfast its very nerve racking to constantly ask someone to pass you something and makes you highly anxious about what you eat... NOT A VERY PLEASANT EXPERIENCE AT ALL!!! WON'T BE RETURNING UNTIL THIS IS SORTED!

The hotel overall was great as well as the service and food. But the room I stayed in was a bit stuffy and hot which put a dampener on the stay. And my partner said they found the bed quite hard so both had a couple bad nights sleep.

Sadly, you need to keep the window open as no air conditioning and fan covered in fluff and dust, so I didn't want to use it. The industrial estate is a race circuit at night for boy racers with backfiring exhausted so hardly any sleep. The whole place needs a revamp as peeling seats and tired looking. The staff are wonderful, friendly, and warm.

Business trip. Stayed here for over two-weeks. The bad. Some external road noise. Thin walls and creaky floorboards, so internal noise. The good: great staff. Spacious room. Comfortable bed. Hot and powerful shower. Comfortable temperature in November. Decent breakfasts.

After a long day this Premier Inn was in the perfect location for us to recharge for one night. Friendly staff, easy checking. Clean room. With towels & hairdryer. From reception the double doors into beefeater meant we didn't have to go outside leaving our coats & non essentials in our room.

Nice and clean, staff really helpful, location in a industrial park but we knew that before we booked. Only issue was some very exited children running up and down the corridors at 11pm while shouting and screaming. Note to there parents it was late. Beefeater really nice for food

The rooms are fine but the adjoining restrnt is shocking. From the weeds outside to and the overflowing ashtrays to the staff who really don't care and poor food quality I can't believe a chain such as this let's their standards drop so low.

We used this Premier Inn as our base for visiting relatives in nearby Frome. So all we really needed was a comfortable room, parking and a price that didn't break the bank. On this front the hotel delivered just fine. We checked into room 41 using the kiosk, since we arrived late, and picked up a couple of keycards. The room itself was clean and tidy as was our bathroom. Enough towels were provided and perhaps not enough teabags but that's to be expected as you're not paying for luxury. The location of the hotel is nothing to write home about but if you have a car (which is pretty essential) then it's convenient and you have a Budgens/petrol station just across the road if you get peckish.

Our particular room was not up to the standard we usually receive when visiting Premier Inns. Black mould around the window frames, a toilet seat that was too small for the base, a floor that creaks at every step and not fully serviced. The staff are friendly & helpful. The majority of Premier Inns in which we have stayed, have been excellent & I'm sure this is an isolated hiccup!

Terrible night sleep. Air con system exists but not functioning and not getting fixed! If you don't like warm nights don't visit here in summer! Overcast day around 17degrees but room stuffy and warm. Stand up fan provided which makes it slightly more bearable but really only moves warm air around... Staff manager simply says hotel has no air con. Note on bed says the same' this hotel has no air con' rather than temporarily not working so clearly not on agenda to be fixed. Windows only open the usual 2 inches... Very long night listening to a fan especially while pregnant and really not enjoying warmer temperatures... No offer of anything to compensate

We stayed here for one night on a quick stopover. Whilst the bed was comfy, the room was very hot despite the weather being fairly normal for a June day. There is no air conditioning in the rooms, and the windows don't open more than maybe two inches. The hotel had put two large fans in the room to help with air circulation, but they weren't achieving a great deal. The hotel itself is fine, I didn't hear any noise from other rooms, but it is looking a bit tired and dated both internally and externally.

The rooms were pristenly clean, very large, big bathroom which is always great and had all the amenities you would expect, plus a fan which is always a bonus. The service was amazing, there was always some there to answer any queries and to help with anything needed. The location was ideal, they have a beefeater attached to the building, the car park was big enough for both venues and many places to grab food and essentials just across the road.

A great location, easy access to Bath, Longleat and surrounding areas. Hotel has very creeky floors in the corridors and we were on ground floor and room above us was quite noisy. The room doesn't have air-conditioning and we found it too hot, but they do advertise it so can't really complain. Had breakfast booked in the Beefeater which was okay. Would stay again as location was central and easy to get about.

The room was horrendously hot overnight at 25 degrees, and we were unable to sleep. When my husband went down to breakfast, he was asked if we had booked, which at no point were we told this was a necessity, we stay with premier inn regularly because we have family all over and have never booked breakfast. He stated that we should have had a separate email stating that this was a busy location and booking is essential. Even at check in we weren’t made aware of this but the premier inn staff confirmed that we should have had an email. The gentleman said that if we came down immediately he would set us up in the bar area, I had dripping wet hair and my kids weren’t dressed, so it was a stressful mad dash if we wanted to have the breakfast we had already paid for, which ruined my twins birthday breakfast. Having spoke to staff, they looked at each other knowingly and then said we had to call head office. Having spoke to head office they said that legally they were covered as it states in terms and conditions that booking breakfast is recommended, and that the premier inn doesn’t have air conditioning. AIR CONDITIONING! On a rainy day at the start of May, the room shouldn’t be almost 26 degrees during the night, which I had photo evidence of, also so much for ‘if you don’t sleep well you’ll get your money back’ Ruined my kids birthday and left us feeling exhausted before returning to our full on jobs, when it should have been a relaxing weekend celebrating our twins. We will never stay premier inn again

In the Beefeater and was asked upon arrival if we had a discount voucher. When my partner asked if we'll get smaller portions if we have, the waitstaff said yeah.... My ribeye wasn't exactly juicy as I'd normally expect from there....

Handy for our Southward journey and good parking... Rooms spacious and comfortable with ensuite. The only minor inconvenience was that the door key card didn't initially work and had to go back to be changed... Warning to those who want slight lie in, some folks let their children run riot up and down the corridor screaming and squealing (in my experience just after 7am, but thankfully I was already up, showered, dressed and heading to breakfast as I had booked it for 7am... Otherwise I reckon I wouldn't have been too happy... The room we had on the ground floor was perfect for us and had very good facilities, TV, wardrobes, dresser, bedside tables and lamps... Food availability at the adjoined Beefeater was useful... And appreciated.

Hotel itself overal was clean, unfortunately one of our towels was dirty. Other than that our room was lovely and comfortable and perfect for our overnight stop. Food from the attached restaurant was okay, we only ate breakfast was a serve it yourself job. Would return if passing again.

Clean tidy room, great for just a place to stay for the night. 2 adults and 2 children shared room was plenty big enough. Only negative was that it was 26.6c in the room. Was extremely warm, Tower fan in the room made zero difference.

Situated on a business park, hotel rundown, room smelled, whole place was red hot, fan had been placed in room to try and cool it down, rather pointless as windows only opened half an inch. Booked meal in restaurant, on being shown to our table we were greeted with long list of what wasn't available on the menu, what was available was limited, and when it arrived the portions were small and food was poor quality. The bar service was shocking, one person serving a queue of eight people, other staff went behind bar but just looked at the queuing guests out of the corners of their eyes and quite plainly ignored them! Avoid this place.

My husband and I stayed overnight on Saturday 24th September 2022. Because they had been made aware we were there to go to a friends daughters wedding on arrival to our room there was some prosecco and glasses a very nice touch. The room was excellent, clean and tidy. Our sleep was excellent and we had a lovely breakfast . Would definitely recommend this hotel . The staff were very helpful and if we wanted extra teas and coffees, etc there was an area to help yourself.

  • 4/5 Simone K. 1 year ago on Google
Perfect location for longleat. Only 13 minutes drive away. An older hotel with no air con. A fan was supplied though still very warm in the room. Our family room was sparse and although its for 4 occupants they only provide 2 cups and 2 glasses. And nowhere near enough hangers. The windows opened albeit restricted but the location is a very busy road and roundabout with a steady stream of lorries so it was noisy. Had the windows been closed I expect the noise would have been reduced. But the heat dictated the need for them to be open. If you needed more tea, coffee etc it was available as a help yourself in reception which I thought was a good idea

Overnight stay, seeing a band in Bath (Friday night) & then to Southampton on Saturday. Check-in took ages! Room large & spotless, bed & pillows comfy as per the norm for a Premier. Only problem - shower head would not let water through it so had to take a bath instead! Good job we had both the bath & shower option!

We are local hence why no stars for rooms. The poor waitress! We did feel for her. No Sunday roast dinner due to staff illness. But we made do and enjoyed what we had. The waitress although stressed kept her composure and was very professional.
