Superb! Only misses out on 5* because of one little gripe (which for us was sorted out). Let's start with the food. We checked in for dinner and we had paid for the residents menu with the room. I am often wary of that kind of setup as you don't really know the value you will get. The food here is as good as we have had anywhere, honestly these guys are smashing the kitchen. The waiters did bring one incorrect starter but rectified it very quickly. We upgraded one of the starters to the smoked salmon from the Al a Carte menu. Wow absolutely stunning and enough for some light eaters as a main course. Not only was the salmon some of the best I have ever tasted, it was incredibly well decorated with fresh baby greens and a dill foam. It was fitting out of any smart kitchen in London or a Masterchef final! We also had the ham hock terrine which was really good. The star of the mains was the slow roasted belly of pork. Served with the most divine jus and fresh vegetables it was faultless. We don't often eat three courses but we opted for the creme brulee (stunning) and sticky toffee pudding. Honestly it was worth coming here just to eat. The hotel and staff should be incredibly proud of the value and quality they are delivering here! Food 5* and the service was excellent as well from the guys serving. The restaurant is a really nice space and dining room. So on arrival we had been given a key to a Superior King room as booked. However when we checked into the room, it didn't match the photos we had seen on the website very closely. The quality was there but it was too small for a family of three. So having investigated this with Suzi, she kindly swapped our room to room 22. Now that is like the photos' on the website and that's because it was this room and one other that were used for the photo shoot. A superb proper Superior King room with a small lounge and sofa. Really well carpeted and cosy warm. Beautiful Oak beams supporting the ceiling. The bathroom is great really and there are no complaints should you be lucky enough to get one of these special rooms. The headboard had been reclaimed and crafted from an historic staircase from a building in Bournemouth and they have made great use of it. This room gets 5* So the only reason the hotel doesn't get a full 5* is because not all rooms fully represent the images on the website so some might not feel fully satisfied on that front. It's hard though, you wouldn't market your second best room so I get it. The bed was extremely comfortable and it was perfectly silent overnight. It ticks so many boxes. All in all I think we would have struggled to find this value in 99% of all hotels in this country. I know having read the website about the two hotels, the chain are committed to offering the best value they can during the cost of living crisis. They are standing true to their words and I cannot recommend it enough. We actually live in the area so are likely to come back simply to use the restaurant. Fabulous well done The Moonraker!

Firstly, a very old and beautiful building and the Management team have clearly learned from previous reviews. The garden are is very beautiful too. Plenty of parking too. I could be not far from my car. I had forgotten to mark my booking ground floor room so I had been allocated a first floor room, but when my wife advised them about my mobility issues, we were moved to a ground floor room. Continental breakfast was ok and free for our rate. The staff we met were very helpful and our room was serviced during the day too. Well located for getting around the area. Although not totally suitable for wheelchair users, it made a pleasant base and is from an age when buildings were not designed with disabled people in mind. A few steps to negotiate but manageable.

A really nice hotel, set in lovely grounds. Are room was big, with a large bed and dual aspect windows, so bright and airy, with a nice sofa, to relax on. There was a large en-suite with bath and separate shower. The evening meal was very good but the drinks a bit pricey, which seems to be the trend in hotels. They gave me access to a 13A socket, so I could charge my EV. We'd go again.

Here for my god daughters wedding, lovely venue, food was great, service was good. Veggie option looked good too, my dining companion said it tasted good and was pleased with the Veggie gravy. Apparently, this is often overlooked. Bar is quite small and could lead to queues, but staff were doing their best.

Fab hidden gem, strayed in the main house & it was great. Super king bed, lovely soft bedsheets. Receptionist couldn't do enough for us when we were trying too book a taxi. Very helpful & pleasant.

We used the Moonraker as our fabulous wedding location and it was so so perfect. The team here are amazing, I would like to say a personal thank you to Suzie and James who made the day go so perfectly, along with the events manager Carisma. We love the feel of the Moonraker and would highly recommend to anyone considering this as a wedding location. Thank you again & to all those behind the scene we didn’t see - kitchen staff the food was fab! The housekeeping team allowing for such an easy check in service and having a selection of rooms ready early all your hard work was noticed.

The hotel has a rustic charm. Our room was full of character with a mezzanine level. The bed was really comfortable and large. Some of the decor was a bit tired, such as the sofa and frayed curtains , but it didn't detract from a wonderful stay. We enjoyed the friendly atmosphere and delicious food. The creme brulee and sticky toffee pudding were fabulous. The location was brilliant for a trip to Bath and Cheddar Gorge. There weren't any complimentary toiletry products, but you could purchase White company toiletries for a fee of £15 per bottle. We would return to this quaint hotel and would like to thank the staff for making our visit so relaxing and special.

Didn't know what to expect for the price but only stopping in relation to work, but what a gem. I opened the bedroom door and went wow. Lovely comfy seating around the fire or wood burner in the lounge. Superb Evening meal and upgraded to English Breakfast that was clearly premium produce. Staff were brilliant. Enjoyed the experience so much that I have booked for me and the wife to stay in January before I had even left today.

Great overnight visit. Rooms were great.Gentleman on Reception was great. He was the barman, waiter and the cleaner in the main area. What a very courteous hard working man, he deserves a pay rise, he made every person welcome and made conversation with every customer in the restaurant and bar area. Thank you, you are an asset to Moonraker.

Lovely treat for myself and a friend for an afternoon tea. Very pretty main building with the Brasserie being what looks like a converted single storey barn, done very nicely. Staff all very friendly and polite and restaurant neat, clean and tidy. Scones still warm from the oven and light as a feather, two fruit and two plain, plenty of clotted cream and jam. Various different little individual cakes, the tiny lemon and raspberry tart was just delicious! Finger sandwiches okay but a bit "floppy" - one each of egg, ham and a cucumber one which was a bit strange tasting, needless to say we still ate them! All in all a very enjoyable afternoon.

On first sight this is a lovely cosy little place, very close to a main road but once in the grounds pretty quiet. Reception staff were friendly, we noted throughout our stay tgat reception seemed to do so many tasks! We got into our room and we're pleased to see a splendid big bed with such an old headboard, we loved our room. It had all the usual things, kettle, tea/coffee etc, iron, suitcase stand, spare blanket (I needed that). Bathroom was clean and big but a little dated. 8 noted one towel hanging above the toilet!! Turns my stomach to think of drying my face on it. Turns out it was the only towel they gave us so not only was i drying my face in the toilet spray but after a bath mine and my husbands bums! So we went to reception and asked for more, I'm not using the toilet towel to dry anything! We also had to get biscuits we realised our room hadn't really been prepared properly, no big deal but didn't make us feel very special (well we aren't really in the great scheme of things) We decided to walk the grounds, limited but very pretty before going to the bar. The info book would have you think it's a small pub, it's not it's a verh small bar but well stocked so no complaint. We asked about the sitting room the book mentioned only yo vd met with a “what sitting room? “ so we imagined we must have miss read the information. After a couple of lovely gins, although I didn't get the one I asked for, still good so I was happy, we went yk sit for dinner. Not sure who the chef is as the book names two, I imagine bits of the book have been updated, but whoever they are they cook well. We were on the meal inclusive which gave plenty of options. If you are a big eater, I am, you may not fill completely up, but we had eaten in a local pub at lunch so if was enough for us, well I had cheese (paid more, a fair bit more for very little (but very nice) cheese) so I felt full by the end. My partner had what was supposed to be sticky toffee but it was dense and crispy so the only bit of the meal he didn't enjoy. All in all good wine and mistly great good, we were happy. We decided to explore the hotel after dinner and found the sitting room, or rooms, and they are nice. Shame we would have settled down with our gins in the with pleasure. Found an old safe too, amazing. Breakfast was okay, again inclusive, but nothing social. One of those toasters that gk round constantly and either undercook if over cook the toast whilst being the worst thing to ever be invented for toast and the environment. Standard cut loaf in brown or white, horrid little plastic things of over sweet jam, tiny oats of butter wrapped in foil things, nice coffee though but the juice was horrid as everything had sunk to the bottom of the jug! We ate but without pleasure and decided not to pay the premium for cooked food. Lots of our stay we enjoyed, the staff on the whole were nice but very busy for a wedding the say we left. Much needed improving to make this out of the way hotel a destination, it's a little out of fashion with over use of plastic, towel positions, and don't get me going on the in room coffee! Good heavens dk the buyers ever try the stuff I wonder? I know irs to force us to buy coffee but truly it's not putting the hotel in a good light, it's truly awful. Would I go back? If I had a corporate event locally I would but I wouldn't return for leisure. I'm pleased I stayed if only for the bed and dinner.
