Lovely place and a good location for an overnight stay. Right by the lock so plenty of interesting canal life to watch. Gluten free options were available but staff weren't fully trained so didn't understand gluten issues. I ordered a gluten free steak and chips and when it arrived I was suspicious that my meal had onion rings. Luckily I double checked and they took my meal away. Neither chips nor onion rings were gluten free. They did immediately cook them again for me. At breakfast they didn't have gluten free sausage but they did have toast. I enjoyed my stay and would stay there again.

Lovely pub to stop of at on a sunny day. Dog friendly. Lots of outside garden space and if you go up some stairs you can sit by the Canal and watch boats and the world go by. Serves lovely food too.

They Barged Inn-to our life and now we love them! Our family are spread all across the south of the UK and Italy and The Barge Inn was the opportune place to meet after hearing good reviews of new ownership. How true they were! The main staff here were nothing but a joy, and the food (we had the Sunday roast) was tasty, filling and priced very humbly. I would say we will return but this is actually our second visit! If you haven't tried this welcoming, friendly pub or their wonderful food, give them a try. Thanks guys and thanks to Somerset Jim beside the bar who made my day!

I’m a disabled wheelchair user, I came to The Barge Inn to pick up my daughter who was having works drinks in the Inn. I parked, displayed my disabled badge, could not go inside as could not access my wheelchair, it took 11 minutes for my daughter to finish her drink and get to the car. I then received a parking ticket! Which for obvious reasons I appealed to Smart Parking explaining in full the situation. They couldn’t care less and denied my appeal. I have now had no choice but pay the fine! Yes there is signage which I couldn’t get out to read! What a spectacularly friendly place to go! NOT! I will never visit again, and I’ve advised the company my daughter works for to never use it again for work drinks. I get they need to protect the car park but you don’t have to do it so aggressively and without any compassion! Appalling! Smart Parking are overly aggressive in their communication and massively uncaring and lack compassion. So they fit well with the Inn who employs them!

I thought I'd give this place a go and was very pleasantly surprised. Absolutely beautiful place, right on the canal side. Very reasonable prices. Food was amazing and excellent quality. Staff very friendly and nice.

Been here several times before. Would not come back again. It is a nice location by the canal and lock. No WiFi even for paying guests. Sticky tables in the bar/restaurant (I sat at two different tables). Uncomfortable bed. Tiny room. Card payment only (Cash not acceptable). Don't bother to eat at The Barge. 8.30pm on a summer Friday, The Barge was deserted. Thai Barn restaurant nearby was excellent. Other pubs and bars nearby were very busy and welcoming. What does that say about The Barge Inn? Will be surprised if they stay in business after the summer.

My family and myself came for Sunday lunch. The food was really nice, we are fussy Sunday lunchers and don't often return to a place. We will be returning here. Lovely setting, clean and tidy, super lovely staff and customers. It's also dog friendly, so we had a little fuss from one of the puppy patrons while their. Overall 5 stars keep up the good work.

Comfortable stay. Very pleasant staff. Tasty breakfast which set us up for our long walk. Unfortunately there was no Internet, but actually it meant we got more sleep because we weren't messing with our phones!

This isn't some cordon bleu eaterie but the food is delicious; the staff are efficient and friendly; the décor is natural and unspoilt, and they have a nice garden overlooking the canal which has a lovely peaceful atmosphere and no hideous piped music like some places.

Love rustic atmosphere. Really helpful server. Fabulous food! For me, especially the risotto - 5 stars. Great idea to offer smaller portions, especially at lunchtime.

Got a parking fine, even though I used their little machine to put my reg in. Now have to appeal a £60 parking ticket. Lots of hustle just for a drink! Otherwise lovely pub with a great selection of beers. Just sort your parking out please!

We stayed here for one night as we had hired a barge for the day. I love older quirky buildings with character which the Barge Inn is being a listed building. I love the fact that it is dog friendly, we had a lovely evening meal and found the bed so comfortable. We chose to have a light breakfast which was lovely. We found the staff very efficient and friendly. Would definitely stay here again.

Amazed by the excellent quality of the food! The Chicken breast with blue cheese & mushroom sauce and the Venison & pork sausage meals were restaurant quality. The open fire and warm hospitality made for an unexpected pleasure. Thank you to all the staff at The Barge Inn.

Pub backs on to the canal, used it this week as street parking seemed to all be permit controlled. Good size car park which you have to log your car reg at the bar. Great to sit right by a log fire to warm up. Staff were nice and the food was excellent and good value.

Best Sunday roast we've had in a long time. Great selection of nicely cooked veg. Good service from staff

There is no car park so we needed to park on the road. We called on Sunday afternoon but not looking for a Sunday Roast or big meal. Fortunately they did ciabata rolls and a lovely bowl of chips Perfect. Friendly service and loved the decor.

The staff are great, but there are not enough of them. Severely understaffed at the bar. Food was good and the location is pretty.

No recording of our booking! Checked my phone definitely their number. Over worked one member of staff on bar and tables. Even asked if they do Sunday Roasts of a Sunday evening as I know pubs say when it’s gone it’s gone. Definitely they said yes no problem! As there was no booking we would be back of queue over those booked. At least an hours wait and Sunday Roasts we’re almost gone! We took our business elsewhere. Massive disappointment.

Nice pub in a pleasant location, good food (really good pizzas). We had a nice evening and would have stayed for a couple more pints but it was too cold - we were sat inside but every door to the outside was wide open so we felt like we were actually sat in the beer garden!

We were a party of 8...they were quite busy, so had a little wait, but it was worth it. Absolutely delicious, well cooked, roasts and very generous portions. We would recommend the food. The pub needs a little TLC but overall, still a 5/5.

Visited for Sunday lunch. Parking on site. Register and you can leave car, go for a walk and eat without worrying. Just ensure to Register in the pub! We had the set Sunday roast beef and chicken. Excellent food and timely service. Perhaps the best Sunday lunch I've eaten in a while. Decent value too.

Stopped off there after a long motorcycle ride to be made very welcome. First of all, great coffee, secondly cooked breakfast was fantastic. Good value as well. Like this place as it has the canal running along the rear of the garden.

Gorgeous belly pork, beautiful surroundings. Had fish and chips the following visit - a shame they use frozen chips, Pierre Kauffman's or not.

friendly staff, good food although breakfast was mainly cooked no option for cereal only porridge. Room was lovely, a little cold but a heater fan was provided which worked adequately.

PARKING FINE WARNING - stopped on a dark rainy night for some supper and drink only to be sent a parking fine!!! no staff mentioned you had to enter your details, as it was raining and dark no signs were visable. Would suggest you try a better managed pub.

It’s a nice pub but be careful about using the car park. We arrived in the dark, didn’t spot the signs and received a £60 fine for parking there. It’s taken / weeks to get the fund rescinded and we only went in for a quiet pint.

I pop in every so often. I have eaten once here and I was not disappointed. The food was well presented. Staff polite and friendly. Access via the road. Carpark for patrons, it is not the biggest carpark. Lots of people walk to this spot, a short distance down the road from the canal. Lots of space in the garden and there is also the garden area beside canal. Great to watch the canal life drift by. Disabled access to main garden. Beautiful at night during summer with lights on, very popular. Plenty of seating available. Quieter during the winter.

Nearly drove past the Barge. Nice big car park but can imagine it's packed in the summer as there is a space at the back of the pub which is on the canal. The menu was varied and not to expensive. I had belly pork and black pudding mash with kayle. It was excellent. My friend had the chicken dish which she really enjoyed. The service was great. Drinks were all reasonably priced. Highly recommended.

Stayed here for 3 nights, ate and drank in the pub (tired decor and mediocre food) then received a parking fine from them a few weeks later despite putting in my reg in the tablet at the bar. Contacted the pub who said it was cancelled, but now have received an even bigger fine for £170 from a Debt Recovery company! Talk about a stressful experience and they can’t be bothered to help me. Disappointing all round.

Had made a booking at a previous restaurant only to be told, as we arrived, that the roast was finished and a wait of 40mins! Felt very lucky after phoning around to find that The Barge Inn had space for us and plenty of roast. The best part for me was they offer 3 sizes of roast, I went for the "1 slice" and others for the "2 slices" which was more than enough. I wonder at the size of "the feast"!! As we were a large party with children, they placed us in a separate room that allowed us to relax whilst the kids did their thing without disturbing other patrons. Service was prompt, friendly and all round excellent. We will definitely be recommending them.

A very comfortable stay: staff friendly and accommodating; food very good with generous portions and a clean good-sized room with a fan provided during the heatwave. Not sure what to expect before arrival as contact difficult: phone straight to voicemail which was full and another number disconnected, however all concerns disappeared on arrival. Would stay again and recommend to others - just remember to log car registration in the bar on arrival.

Really nice canal side pub with very good food. We moored nearby overnight and had a lovely evening in the sunshine at the side of the canal with our dog. The beer was good, but the food was excellent - I can really recommend the chicken and chilli rice. The staff were a bit short handed on the night we visited, but the 2 ladies who were there worked so hard to make sure everyone was served and the wait for a beer was never too long. Definitely will go back if we're in the area again.

Very friendly welcome and service. Good well presented beer. Food was excellent, vegetarian food was exceptional it was so nice to be offered a choice other than a burger.

Lovely place to sit by the river have a few drinks with good friends, and watch the world go by. Staff very accommodating, and well informed loved having the beers and ciders described to me with great enthusiasm. And the cider didn't disappoint. Thank you it a a great afternoon.
