Amazing place to visit with my daughter. It took about 45minutes to the top of rocks but we enjoyed natural air and our sweat on the way to the top. Thanks to lots of comments here, we prepared climbing shoes and it’s super helpful to climb. We’re also surprised that lots of elderly climbed with their partners. Good place to come !

Great hike. If you take the north trail up it is steep but gets you to the top in about 1 mile. But it is a steep climb. About 3 miles down the switch back trail.

This is an outstanding hike off the Blue Ridge Parkway. Note if you're using Google maps put in Humpback Gap Overlook or the directions will end approximately 1/2 mile from the trailhead parking lot. You have 2 choices to get to the top using either a direct or loop route. I highly recommend the loop trail for the overlook(s) and other nature views on longer hike. The loop trail is approximately 4.2 miles. If you're in a hurry you can take the direct route up and back that's just under a mile each way. Although the direct route is fairly steep so take that into account. If you want the easier loop route start at the parking lot and it's approximately 3.2 miles to the overlook rocks. However you choose to get there once at the top it's a bit of a rock scramble with a lot.of options, but worth the scramble as it's a great 360 degree view at the top. This time we took the shorter route so the trail pictures I've posted are from that route.

It was hot and humid so we made it to the top of the 1 mile incline hike very sweaty, but the views were worth it. The coolness up top felt refreshing! We happened to hike just before a storm so we were standing in the clouds and it was delightful. We loved it. It was just challenging enough but not too much that the entire family (kids included) didn’t enjoy it. We took a couple of pauses on the way up but loved it.

This hike is moderately challenging. It was 0.8 mile upward but very steep. However view at the top was awesome. We visited on a weekday afternoon. It was not that much crowded.

Challenging yet rewarding hike to a beautiful rock overlook. From the Humpback Rock trail parking lot at Mile 6 on the Blue Ridge Pkwy, you can hike the "short way" to the overlook, which is a steep, rocky trail, or the "long way", which has gentler grades. Or you can do it as a loop using both trails. Regardless, the view from the rock overlook is great. Also, if there are no parking spots at the trail parking lot, you can park at the Humpback Rock Visitor Center (0.2 mile away).

It’s a hard uphill hike, not gonna lie. But being on those rocks is amazing and freeing. Cool people at the top. Definitely recommend.

Intense but manageable Hike with Breathtaking Views This short 1.6 mile up and down hike packs a punch! If it has rained, watch out for slippery rocks and mud. But trust me, the view at the top of the Blue Ridge Parkway makes it all worth it. Leave the flip-flops at home and reconsider bringing young children (6 and under) unless you're prepared to carry them. There are benches along the trail for resting. Bring a snack or meal to enjoy at the summit and savor the moment. Lace up your hiking boots, get ready for an adventure, and prepare to be amazed by nature's beauty!

I enjoyed watching sunset from this location and view. I recommend to go here for sunset. Be careful to have headlights for the way back to the parking since it may get dark.

πŸ‘πŸ‘ One of my favorite spots for my clients with all of the stunning views, minus the hike. Highly recommend this overlook for the best sunset views, picnics, and more. It can get pretty packed in there most days when there’s beautiful weather, but there’s a trail off to the side that leads down the fro...

πŸ‘πŸ‘ Great hike with beautiful views. We had planned to do the out and back but decided to do the full loop once we made it to the top. Worked out well because the way up was steep and a challenge but the way down was long but much easier with all the switch backs.

πŸ‘πŸ‘ Beautiful place to hike and swim. Its about 2.2 miles each way. Be prepared to get your shoes wet with 5 river crossings. Some parts of the trail aren't marked to well and some parts are quike rocky but its an easy hike either way. Arrive early to get a good parking spot and avoid the crowds.

πŸ‘πŸ‘ We initially planned to visit Raven Roost Overlook for watching the sunset. But, on the way almost a half mile before, we realized this was the spot and parked there. Many go to the other overlook so there are not too many people here so it was pleasant and we really enjoyed the sunset.
