We're so sad that the quality of the food has dropped so far down since the last time we came a few years back. Their shrimp taco, as seen in the picture below, comes with ONE slice of avocado, despite their price increasing to 23 dollars. The tortilla is large but the filling is incredibly limited, making you wonder how they couldn't add one or two more slices of avocado for that price...since the wrap was huge with such little fillings, the entire dish tasted overly bland. This used to be our favorite, but now it became one of the worst shrimp taco we ever had :/ The fries came 10 minutes after our main entree arrived, and they also did not have any ketchup to go with the fries; it comes with a overly watery chipotle Mayo that barely stuck onto the fries because of how watery it was. The hostess told us the fries was around 5 dollars on its own, but they charged us 8 at the end, which was unexpectedly shocking. The duck and chips were also nothing special, with the duck being overly lean with no fat to make it a bit more rich. The hostess was very friendly but seems like she doesn't know the prices of their items, which is unfortunate. Service was often chaotic and inconsistent, albeit it being a Saturday during brunch so I understand if they're overwhelmed. We really had high hopes for Colonia, but this experience was so disappointing and demoralizing :/ unfortunately I can't rationalize coming back for the poor quality and high price tag of their dishes.. Thank you for reading and best of luck! (:

This is my 4th time going here. I can easily say now it’s one my favorite restaurants in Brooklyn. Today I went here for lunch, I’ll do a review for dinner later. There were 3 of us, Tortilla Chips were just for sides, and here are the mains: 1. Shrimp Tacos (⭐️5/5) The tacos were soft, but the filling — they’re just the perfect combo. Shrimp, avocado, and some sauces that blend really well with them. My guest said “omg this is so good!!” And it makes me happy! 2. Steak (⭐️4/5) I asked for a medium and they got it right. They’ll serve with rice. 3. Gringo Churros (⭐️5/5) Ok so this is a must-try whenever you go to Colonia Verde. It’s like a donut churros. So crispy on the outside and moist yet airy on the inside. They have sugar on it and it’s paired with a dark chocolate sauce. My favorite. All servers were nice and friendly. No need to doubt about the restaurant’s vibe – it’s just so good.

Overall the food was good but we were uncomfortable most of the time there. The seated us on the high table in the front and basically squeezed us between two large parties. We kept getting hit with more people trying to squeeze in and then they asked us to move over to make room. Took a while to get the waitresses attention but they were nice. Overall didn’t have a great impression - you can also find better (and cheaper) food nearby.

Came here for brunch and can’t wait to go back! The chilaquiles are some of the best I’ve had in the city and loved the corn esquite side. Make sure not to skip on the churro doughnuts either!

From the moment you step inside, you're transported to a world of rustic charm and warm hospitality. It literally feels like you're in José Ignacio (Uruguay beach town). The ambiance of this place is absolutely stunning. Picture this: warm lighting, wooden tables and chairs, and an array of greenery that creates a natural and inviting atmosphere. The exposed brick walls and vintage decor give the place a timeless, classic feel that is both elegant and cozy at the same time. And with Latin music playing softly in the background, you'll feel like you've been transported to a charming South American hideaway. But the real showstopper is the outdoor seating area. Like I said, it literally feels like you're escaping to a South American backyard in Punta del Este, Uruguay. The garden is truly enchanting, and it's the perfect setting for a romantic evening with your special someone or a cozy dinner with friends. As night falls, the patio is illuminated with string lights that create a dreamy and intimate atmosphere that will leave you feeling all warm and fuzzy inside. And let's not forget about the food! The menu at Colonia Verde is inspired by South American cuisine, and each dish is crafted with love and care. The ceviche is bursting with flavor, the steak is cooked to perfection, and the empanadas are simply heavenly. It's clear that the chefs pay attention to every little detail, and the result is a dining experience that will leave you feeling completely satisfied.

Yummy yummy foods. Delicious wine. Our waiter told us he had one glass left of this delectable indigenous grape from Vermont and let us split the one glass amongst the three of us. Cool environment that really got filled up over the course of our meal. Can’t wait to check out their asados

Disappointed. The shrimp appetizer "Shrimp Al ajillo" was the WORST. The shrimps were not fresh they should never serve that to anyone; Taco was average; trout was our favorite, it was fresh and well cooked. We went on a Sunday night and that was probably the first mistake, never again I go to a restaurant on Sundays.

The venue is really cosy and I would definitely recommend having diner in the patio at the back! There are plenty of very good options, including the aubergine which we had as a starter and it was just amazing. The rest was very good but not as refined as I would have expected, including the sausage and melted cheese platter. Great service, great atmosphere, I would definitely go again!

We went for Sunday brunch and it was amazing! We got the duck chilaquiles, the quinoa and chicken dish and the sausage/veggie plate. Yummy iced coffee, too, and great service. The patio was also so pretty.

This place is so good. The hostess was really friendly and polite. My friend and I had a table outside in the back. Its such a cute space! The cocktails are reasonably priced presentation is spot on and very well made. we had shrimp tacos, the pork chop and the yucca puree. The churro donuts are so cute and delicious. I will definitely be back.

I did not expect this place to SO GOOD! A very charming ambiance (the patio is beautiful and must be awesome to be in it during warmer months). The sausage and vegetable parrillada is definitely the way to go. Just excellent. The picanha steak was so decadent and delicious. Yucca puree? Yes, please, delicious. The dessert was disappointing after the savory dishes, but overall a very good experience.

INCREDIBLE food and cocktails! Everything I ordered I want the recipe to try and recreate it at home. Michelin-star level food (even though they don’t have one yet!) and a great restaurant to go to for a special occasion or if you want to treat yourself. There was lots of seating and they have a backyard too. I definitely would recommend getting a reservation because tables fill up quickly. This is hands down one of my favorite restaurants in Brooklyn

Great customer service. You can eat indoors, backyard or curbside. Latin American cuisine. Vegan options available Lots of nuts in dishes. Tasty condiments. Was too full with vegan selections: sweet potatoes fries, and roasted cauliflower, to enjoy desserts. Many tasty desserts were seen being served.

Perfect experience. Delicious food. We ordered a handful of sides and salad and each dish was so good. And even if you’re not into meat, each veggie dish is full of flavor. The staff is so lovely. The ambiance is beautiful. It feels like being at someone’s home for dinner watching the team prepare the meals, lots of laughter while being super efficiently run.

Had a really nice time here. We were seated quickly out back. We weren’t sure if it was going to be packed because of the time. But to our surprise it wasn’t. Food and drinks were amazing! Can’t wait to return

We got table early afternoon without booking and were very excited. Food service and atmosphere makes it a special place. With 2 drinks and 2 mains we payed less than $100. I recommend booking in advance as getting table for walk-in may be challenging.

I remember coming to this place about 8 years ago and loving it. The food ambience, all of it was perfect. Needless to say when I visited again, I expected more of the same. However, that is not at all what I was met with. The food paled in comparison, and quite honestly was objectively bad. I got the Bone Marrow & Chimichurri and duck tacos for appetizers. The bone marrow was nice and well balanced, however lacking sustenance a dish should have. The duck tacos were dry and lacking flavor. However, at this point I wasn’t very disappointed, as the drinks I got were quite good. However the absolute most disappointing aspect of this meal, was my main, the Pichana, which I had read about. I ordered medium rare. It quite literally came out medium well/well. When I informed my server, my friend noticed that the kitchen looked upset at me - which is baffling to me as it was not even near medium rare. They remade it, and I told the waiter it could come out closer to rare, however, when I received it, it was black and blue, slightly seared on the outside, completely raw on the inside; it was insanely chewy, and it lacked any flavor at all. The next disappointment was dessert. It wasn’t that it was bad, it was the fact that it literally took 35 minutes to come out. In fact, the whole meal was terribly paced. Our apps took about 25 minutes to come out, our mains over 30 minutes, and our second round of drinks about 20 minutes. Our server probably checked in about 4 times in this 2 and a half hour period and never apologized for the delays. Between the outstanding amount of time we were at the restaurant, the overall lack luster flavors of the food, and the failure of cooking a steak (twice in a row), which, for a restaurant at this price point, is quite shocking, the experience was quite a bad one.

We were a party of 8 and had a great time. Food was all out of this world, drinks were great, and service was good! It’s also a beautiful restaurant with a really cute outdoor seating area. All the tacos were incredible and the churros with ice cream were INSANE. Would definitely return and highly recommend!

Unpopular opinion - it seems like a lot of the dishes were extremely simple and could’ve been done better at home. The service was definitely lacking in the attentiveness to table department. When seated found ourselves waiting for a lot of things and just waiting in general. If I could recommend anything it would be from the For the Hands section, and the Pink 2.0 drink - sweet but just the perfect smokiness! Un Verano Sin Ti - a bit too smoky but still good. The duck confit tacos were my favorite aspect of the meal. Picanha was decent, the side I got was just so incredibly basic it felt incomplete (cucumber + feta salad thingy?) I would skip the pork chop, kinda overrated.

We took seat in the backyard. It was a warm Feb and the backyard reminds me of my Italy trip. Such a joy. Food was great, the sausage and veggie combo is my pick and turned out to be really good. Shrimp taco is not my thing. My wife wants some chocolate dessert unfortunately they only have coconut cake.

I went for brunch and loved the aesthetics and decor. The food was good with great flavors and lots of variety but the service was slow

Great food and atmosphere. The selection can seem overwhelming based on familiarity but the Chefs here are on point. Excellent family meal for 8 with all courses.

I've come here several times now over the last few years and stopped by again yesterday and realized I never left a review for this place. Overall, the interior of the space is spacious and quiet when it's not busy. They have outdoor seating for the warmer months as well as a backyard patio. Highly recommend their shrimp tacos and the golden tilefish for lunch. The fish and risotto have a lovely texture whilst being light and creamy. You must also try the pork belly appetizer. The shrimp Al ajillo is delicious and flavorful but they come unpeeled so you have to work for the shrimp which is tedious and both my boyfriend and I disliked having to skin the shrimp. The palomita drink is spirit free and could benefit from some carbonation in my opinion because it otherwise leaned more towards a medicinal flavor. The staff are all very kind and attentive. Overall, I do enjoy my visits here and they are consistent with both service and food quality. Highly recommend checking them out!!! Stop by and enjoy their varied Latin American menu.

Had a great time at this restaurant- perfect lighting where we sat in their indoor greenhouse towards the back, the staff was really nice and attentive, and food was excellent. We ordered the cast iron blackened porkchop (nicely seasoned and perfectly cooked), shrimp tacos, and esquite salad (fresh!) which was perfect to share between two with just enough room for dessert. We ordered the little piece of brazil which was a piece of yuca+coconut cake on a skillet - it was served hot and topped with whipped cream and lime zest. All in all great combination of flavors and textures in one meal. Will be back!

Gorgeous restaurant for brunch with an outdoor patio in the back. Tables are spread apart comfortably so you don’t feel crowded. Staff was attentive, and they have bottomless coffee on the brunch menu☕️ highly recommend the steak & eggs, and tacos
