Indian lady manning the counter for the ER has no better thing to do than yell and threaten to call security for more than one visitor for 30 seconds. Meanwhile, my father was in a car accident having so much chest pain that the only relief happened when he laid down and she wouldn't even let him put his feet up on another chair to combat some of this immense pain. I'd rather pick out my eyeballs with a blunt razor blade than ever be within 40 feet of her and her rudeness.

I have had to deal with this emergency room in an official capacity more times than I can count and am always disappointed in the staff; not just the contracted physicians, but the apathetic attitude of the nursing staff herein. I have been to multitudes of other MedStar facilities (Franklin Square, Washington Hospital Center, Georgetown University Hospital, Southern Maryland, Saint Mary's) and received more positive outcomes in said official capacity than I ever received here. It's as if the apathy of dealing with patients has become so overwhelming to the staff in the ED that they cannot fathom turning a needful moment into a positive one. I once asked to speak to the DON or appropriate nursing head when I was handed attitude once and was told that 'you don't have the right, just do your job'. Shameful. I do not recommend this place unless you are unconscious and dying.

My family and I moved to Olney 4 years ago. During this period, my wife has visited the ER twice and myself once. We have never before experienced such incompetence. With each visit, starting with the nurse at the check-in desk in the lobby, we have never seen such poor care. Not only did they not care, they were openly hostile and even challenged whether we were even legitimately injured. In my wife’s case, she required major reconstructive surgery and the lobby nurse insisted that my wife was being a drama queen. I have visited more than 90 countries and I have never experienced such a dysfunctional and pathetic hospital. It’s amazing that this place manages to stay open as we approach 2021.

I am reading the comments and agree with the professionalism and flow of work in this ER I have never seen anywhere else. So many HIPPA violation and the way they have their work flow set up is creating more kaos and delays. They do not triage and prioritize patients health condition. We waited there for five hours with my father who has heart condition and stage four kidney diseases, sitting in their uncomfortable chair waiting for a bed. His legs were swelling up and even after voicing the concern to the front desk lady, she said she would relay the message to the nurse but we did not receive any response. I wonder how there is no leadership present here and not even looking into this mess. This is the worse service ever. Peoples life are left to someone who has no medical knowledge or experience. The physician sits at home over the iPad just said blood work and ultrasound. Nothing about Patient care or the patient should not be waiting in the waiting room. I did not feel the compassion nor the care. Never seen physician so careless.

The flow is a mess- wait forever, see triage, wait forever, get a test, wait forever, see someone. Results for an EKG is available right away, not sure why i had to wait two hours for someone to look at it and tell me what's next. Ridiculous I left the above while still in waiting room- i thought we would end up seeing a doctor soon when i left that review. My son actually saw a doctor 4 hours after the EKG. Then did labs, we waited another hour and a half before be saw a doctor again. ER visit was from 8 pm to 220am I will make sure to provide all of this information to the hospital- patient experience was not good at all.

Ridiculous wait time. EMTs leaving patients right in the waiting area on gurneys. Nobody is helping anyone. Everyone is just staring at each other. No names being called.

Feel a little comforted by these reviews that our experience was just one of many, I guess. My girlfriend has been having severe stomach pains for over a week now, disrupting sleep and work. Urgent Care wouldn't do tests and some medical friends recommended an ER visit to be safe, so we went to Olney medstar, the my convenient by far. Gina at the front desk was the most rude, skeptical, and accusatory medical professional I've ever come across. Was so mean it embarassed my partner and she felt pressured to leave. We'll never be coming back. Fix the attitude and keep your staff accountable.

Came here last night around 1:30am. Had a very high fever and other symptoms. Got discharged around 4:50am after running tests and treating me with some medication. Feeling a lot better today. From the receptionist, to the nurses/doctors, all the way to the 2 scary looking security guards everyone was amazing and had a great sense of humor. Im 90 percent sure I got better just from all the laughing from the great sense of humor the staff had. If I could give this place above 5 I really would. Always see complaints that people come in after and get served before people who are already there. Its common sense they are going to take chest pains as more of a priority than a sprained ankle. They deserve more credit then what they get. Trust me I got the full night shift experience and really don’t know how they have that much patience. Thank you to everyone there

I am disheartened to see all the negative reviews, our experience was quite different this past weekend. We had to call 911 and came via ambulance. The nurses and ER doctor were fantastic. They took care of my mother quickly. Did the proper tests and gave her the meds she needed. I couldn’t be happier with the service we received and I’m so grateful my mom is doing better. I do hope others have better experiences because being sick and having sick loved ones is awful and compassion is important which we received in this ER. Thank you so much!

Only reason they are getting even one star, is because that is the lowest you can rate. We have been here for 7.5 hours and have yet to be seen by a doctor. Came in with very high blood pressure that was still very high when they checked 5.5 hours later. The test results have been ready for the past 5 hours. All that is needed at this point is if we need medication and to be discharged. Everyone knows there is a wait involved in going to the ER, but this is completely unacceptable. Third world country medical care.

I was referred to the ER after a visit to the MedStar Urgent Care in Olney. Yes, there was a little wait, but I wasn’t at risk and it was not a terribly long wait. The staff, technicians, nurses and doctors were very kind, gentle and patient with me. They helped my anxiety ridden self cope with everything and it was a very positive experience for me after having bad experiences with other medical professionals.

Waiting so far 7 hrs. Nothing. So unorganized. Calling out names that have already been taken back. It’s ridiculous. Feel like I’m in a third world. All the money they make and they treat you like cattle. So disappointing. I always loved medstar but now I’m rethinking. They don’t even offer crackers.

Thank you for saving my brother’s life! The ER is managed like a machine, you are immediately attended to, triaged and given a bed. My brother was seen by a doctor less than 30 minutes after we got to the hospital and he was getting fluids within the same time period. Thank you for care, professionalism, attentiveness and empathy.

I want to share this with you due to my illness and how was received and treated. Keep the king story shot I came to this ER for having pain, fever and chill. I arrived here around 9:30 am. I used approximate time since I was not goo shape to keep track but anyways within 15 minutes after registration I was given a bed in ER and immediately series of tests. I was given proper medication to improve my condition and about 30 to 40 minutes later I was told that I had a serious urinary track infection and they need to keep me in. This is not the story but I want to talk s the doctors, nieces, technicians and all supporting staff to keep me above ground. I thank you from bottom of my heart. Good bless and happy new year to all

Brought my 87 year old mother in law with a probable stroke. was placed in the waiting room for hours while her potential stroke progressed! Staff was beyond rude and uncaring, they were flat out mean. I am a physician with 35 years experience, I have never seen such uncaring staff in my life. MGH needs to clean house in their ED because at present, they are not serving the community, and clearly could not care less.

Every-time I go here I leave satisfied with my visit! Today was another day they were helpful, efficient, and speedy with getting us home and taken care of for a reasonable price, and with some recommendations for a family doctor! Thank you all!

My father is a cancer patient here, had a rough weekend with much nausea & vomiting, dehydration. Had to go to ER. Staff was super friendly and empathetic. ER doc had very warm personality and we felt his compassion right away. Nurses and techs likewise were friendly and attentive. We had to wait 20-30 min. to be seen, but then got a bay in ER right away. Also had to wait a while for labs to be done and IV meds started. Once he was admitted, the hospital room was new, clean, and very comfortable. A good choice coming here for ER care.

Excellent emergency room, with excellent doctors and health care workers. They all care quite a lot about their patients, and they give patients updates as soon as they are able to do so.

The worst hospital! Don’t bother going here unless you want to have the ambulance drop you here just to wait 6 hours in the waiting room to even be triaged properly to rule out life-threatening conditions.

If I could put 0 stars I would. My boyfriend broke his finger so we called an ambulance to come here. It’s 4:45 and I’ve been waiting with my boyfriend here since 2:30. He is still in the waiting room. He was even put on fast track and when asked what it did they told him it doesn’t do anything. Once it hits 5:30 he’ll be waiting for 3 hours while other people all get to be seen

Terrible really bad bedside manners I went there on 02/13/2022 and the reception was okay but then I was the only person waiting at the ER then another person comes in happy as she can be, Mind you I had such pain and told the registrat. but this person had 2 - nurses working on her, I was the side when the reception the person in the reception told them I was there waiting, the triage nurse said that's ok, then she leaves comes back takes my signs and asked me to stay there in the waiting area, then I walked myself escorted by the reception officer because the nurse station was full with everyone making jokes and laughing, then I get Jennifer B (a nurse) looks down and states do you even speak any English??? I was like I do, she asked again are you sure?? becuase they said you did not speak any English. I just told 2 of the nurses in the check in area my concerns and reason of my visits but then you're asking if I spoke any English ??? and that is okay but the dirty look she had at the same time she asked the question was terrible. I hope not to visit that place. And Jennifer B, we are Latinos, Hispanics and we DO speak 2 languages not everyone you met a Hispanic or Latino DO NOT SPEAK English, Bedside mannners, Introduce yourself, ask how people are doing then if the person requests a translator you request one, Don't judge!! It makes you look RACIST.

Told that patient not treated in accordance with best practices. Risk management employee for the hospital said she would investigate - and it would take her 7 days. Refused to expedite although patient may die before regular time investigation is completed. Yep, we filled out the form the hospital replies with when you leave a poor review. So, we filled out the form...what is the reply for that?

😠 It is really too bad I haven't read some of the reviews, because I would have never gone. DO NOT GO to this hospital! My husband has been admitted for a series of TIA (mini-strokes) on the 3rd floor. It has been really hard to flag a nurse or staff for help. Don't bother with pressing the nurse call...
