Old residence with a nice garden. A bit cold in winter but very nice to be there in spring.

Well preserved and lots of interesting bits to see. Most descriptions have associated English translations, but some of the exhibits inside the building don’t have any translations.

From here, it is interesting to listen to the explanation that the lord was observing the training and to stand there and imagine. Also, since there are many plums, I think that it would be beautiful if you go around February or March. The most famous Confucian school during the Edo period, this is where the conservative scholars and samurais promoted the doctrine of "sonnō jyōi" which means to respect the emperor and kick out the "barbarians"...The political and philosophical doctrines of the school were heavily influenced by a Chinese confucianism scholar named Zhu Zhiyu or Zhu Shunshui who fled from China after the Manchu conquest of China. The school is well preserved, the old ladies who worked there were helpful. But I wouldn't recommend this place unless you are interested in the history of Bakumatsu.

(Translated by Google) After the establishment of the Edo Shogunate in Japan, the reign of the great government was carried out, and what was the philosophy of the Tokugawa family who supported Japanese society for a long time until the administration was returned to the court, and why they were isolated policy You know that you have come here. At the end of the Tokugawa period, the turmoil of confrontation seen in Ansei's prison and the outskirts of Sakurada Monument is tremendous, but as the last feudal clan in the late Tokugawa period came down one after another, the royal philosophy of royal religion continued throughout. That was fine. Kudokan is a pioneer of a clan school, which was established to foster the human resources who will be responsible for Japanese society at the time, and is full of the essence of knowledge at the time, including the history of Dainippon Japan. Please come if you are interested.

(Translated by Google) Founded by Masaaki Tokugawa, the “Republic”, the school of Mito ’s school, the birthplace and development of the Choi ’s philosophy that had a great influence on the end of the Edo period.     Something that doesn't look good in the character reviews of Saiaki is conspicuous, but not only Mito Kaoru, but also the foundation for saving and developing Japan from national affairs is a foresight that opened a school that raised lifelong education in financial difficulties I think Akira is wonderful.     I visited after reading Shintaro Shiba's “The Last Shogun Tokugawa Yoshiki”. It was a good trip.

(Translated by Google) 202005 16 ~ 17 I went to the 2nd Ibaraki ⇔ Chiba bullet homecoming laundry tour! We left "Hotel Route Inn Hitachinaka" at 8:30 and dropped in at "Kodokan" which reopened from May 12th! Arrived at Kodokan parking lot at 9:00! I paid the entrance fee at the Kodokan office and received a brochure! In front of the pamphlet, there was a stamp of "100 Mito Castle" in Japan, so I decided to stamp it! I was able to see this historic building for rent! Even though it is the largest clan school in Japan, it was a very luxurious structure! The garden is very spacious and you can enjoy seasonal flowers! When I went, the cherry blossoms were over and the fresh green was beautiful! (Translated by Google) We visited for the first time, but it is a very quiet good place. It is about a 10-minute walk north from Mito Station. It seemed to be the largest at that time in the Mito clan school (current university?). The entrance fee is 400 adults, but during the season of the plum festival, the price will be half if you have a ticket to Kairakuen. Please stop by after exploring Kairakuen. On this day (February 29, 2020), plums were just in time.
