Great atmosphere and staff! Overall, amazing value for the price. Highly recommend the lamb chops and salmon ravioli appetizer.

Good food, great atmosphere, service was almost non-existant, pretty frustrating when a party of 4 that arrives 20 minutes after a party of 2 is leaving before you...

I stumbled upon Carlos & Carlos Restaurant while exploring the downtown area, and we were immediately drawn in by the restaurant's elegant atmosphere and the professional, elegantly dressed staff. We're both big fans of Italian cuisine, so we knew we had to stop in and give it a try. We started with some wine and the bread they brought out, which was delicious. Then we ordered the LANGOSTINO, homemade ravioli filled with chunks of lobster meat, ricotta cheese, fresh basil, sundried tomatoes, with lobster cream sauce. It was absolutely amazing and definitely a dish we would order again. We also tried the GNOCCHI DI CASA, homemade gnocchi served with chunks of filet mignon, broccoli, shaved garlic, sundried tomatoes, and mushrooms in an olive oil sauce. While it wasn't our favorite dish, it was still well-prepared and tasty. The table next to us ordered the POLLO VESUVIO, which looked and smelled amazing. If we have the chance to go back, we will definitely try it. Overall, the food, service, and atmosphere at Carlos & Carlos Restaurant were all exceptional. We highly recommend it to anyone looking for an upscale Italian dining experience. Five stars all around!

Carlos and Carlos had always been a favorite. The food is delicious and has always been perfectly prepared and served. Unfortunately, during Arlington Alfresco most restaurants don’t add staff - and, let’s face it, they cannot change the size of their kitchen. So service suffers. Something we knew about. But, our last visit there was unusually bad and on top of that, the server blamed the kitchen! Our salad took just over 90 minutes to arrive and when the server noticed dinner arriving at the same time - he sent dinner back. When dinner did arrive, my medium steak was well done - probably sitting under warming lights? I did get a chance to speak with the manager (owner?). She seemed rushed and acted as if I was maybe exaggerating (or lying?). 2 dinners, 3 glasses of wine and a salad we split - with about a 21% tip was $200. Prices are up and service is down. I am sure we will be back. I hope somehow the service will return as the food is still very good.

Very delicious food. We had to wait for some time, but it was worth the wait. They serve fresh bread. Unfortunately, they don’t have any herbal tea, we were dying to have tea after the meal.

I’m not sure how this restaurant has a total rating of 4.4 but after this past Saturday night, I feel like it should be -1 out of 5 at most. Food was bad, only good items that were decent were the complimentary bread and the black pasta. Food took 1.5 hrs which is unacceptable for a $$ restaurant. Maybe if it was higher end and a Michelin star, I can understand a little. I’ve been to many Michelin and omakase restaurants, and the service and food are always superb. The lamb chops were horrendously butchered. We asked for medium rare and it came out well-done. First time, I experienced anything above medium rare for lamb chops. It was way too chewy. Veal porterhouse was slightly better, it was cooked medium rare. However, it could have been juicier, a little dry in some spots. The pasta with scampi was way too salty. Service was nonexistent. Water refilled once. After they dropped off the food, they never came back to ask how our food was. We didn’t really know who was our waitress or waiter was because it was that terrible. After they finally cleared our plates, they had the audacity to ask if we wanted dessert. I would highly recommend skipping this restaurant if you’re in the area or just grab pizza nearby. This place is garbage. Oh btw they were out of dinner plates, so they gave us 3 tiny plates.

I hadn't been here in a few years and i remember it being very good. Well, i was just here this past Saturday night and it was severely disappointing ... I actually called in the early afternoon to make a reservation for 8pm but was told to "Just come in." We arrived at 8 and as we walked into the restaurant a young pregnant girl approached us and couldn't have been more rude. When she approached us, all she said was, "I'm outside". First off we had no idea who this person was. We eventually figured out she must be the hostess, but she was not friendly AT ALL! Terrible way to greet a customer. Luckily another employee noticed this and took us immediately to a table. We ordered a Wedge Salad which was HORRIBLE! The lettuce looked old and wilted and warm of all things. We ordered a Salmon Ravioli Appetizer which was also not very good. The Filet I ordered was decent and my wife had some Pasta which was just okay. Lastly and most importantly, the place is very dated and DIRTY! If you look up, there is SO MUCH dust and dirt on the vents , the walls , the ceiling. It's terrible! Also there is back of the house stuff visible everywhere. If you go to the bathroom, all the boxes of Liquor and condiments are just out in the open . The station where I'm assuming they make the fresh pasta is also very cluttered and dirty ... Overall, a terrible experience. Other then the nice lady that seated us and our Server, it was really sad and bad. I will never return.

This must only be a place for the town drunks. I called 4 days before and made a reservation for Saturday at 7. When we walked in, the place was packed with old drunks screaming and acting sloppy. We waited by the hostess stand for literally 10 minutes as waiters walked right passed us. Finally, some guy came and asked “how many”? I said we have a reservation for 7. He said he sees the reservation but doesn’t have any tables available for us. When we asked “what’s the point of a reservation”, the guy literally just shrugged us off. We walked down the street to Mago. Unless your one of the regular boomer drunks that go there every day to get wasted, they obviously will not care about you. Really gross environment and attitude. DO NOT GO HERE!!!! There are plenty of solid spots in downtown Arlington Heights that will actually treat you like a guest.

such good food. The environment (in the summer) outside was so enjoyable. We went on a Friday night, and there was musicians outside, and laughing and joy all around. The food was so fresh, and fit the mood.

One of the good and authentic Italian restaurants in Arlington Heights. I've already been here a few times, and each time everything was really a good experience, and I really enjoyed every single time I visited this restaurant. The atmosphere and vibe are nice and cozy. The servers were friendly and attentive, and they were very helpful whenever we needed them and would gladly oblige when we asked for something. In my opinion, and also based on experience, it is important to have a reservation because the first time we went here, we waited for like half an hour because the restaurant was full and we also wanted to dine in, but we did not make a reservation first, and in the end, we were still able to eat inside. Meanwhile, the food here is authentic and delicious. Every single dish I tasted from here is all wonderful, with really good flavor. We always enjoy the experience, especially when it comes to the food. From appetizers to dessert, the food is satisfying and the prices are reasonable for its flavor and portion. If you want great customer service and delicious and satisfying food for any occasion, or even just a simple dinner, I highly recommend this amazing restaurant.

Went here with the wife after looking up restaurants in downtown Arlington Heights and this place was awesome. We went at 7:30 on a Friday night and it was pretty packed. We started off trying our best not to eat the tapenade that came with the bread and failing. Then we had the mussels and clams appetizer which was the bomb. We could have just drank that sauce by itself. Then my wife got the black pasta, and I got the pasta with short rib. Both pastas were super delicious but the black pasta took the cake. The sauce was so decadent it was loaded with seafood. We finished off with the creme brûlée which comes topped with berries. Overall a great experience and we will be coming back.

What a disappointment! Have been there many times in past, but last night was awful. No menu provided for >20mins at the table. Salad included brown old lettuce and a dry lemon. Salon on the special was more that overcooked. Waitress could not have ignored us any more than she did. Overall very bad combination.

The food, 100% amazing and delicious. However our waiter was VERY rude. My wife and I wanted to enjoy a nice dinner, however we felt very rushed and pressured to order our food by our server (Hermon). We ordered a salad to share but at the time we're not ready to order our dinners and still looking the menu over. He seemed perturbed by this and rolled his eyes in a not so nice manner when my wife said we needed more time. Then we didn't see him for the rest of the time until I asked the hostess his name and he then seemed more attentive. Food overall, wonderful, service, not so much.

This place is awesome! Starting with the fresh bread, tapenade (the best), and seasoned butter that they bring out to the table their food is delicious. I especially like the black pasta which has the most delicious lobster cream sauce. Carlos is always friendly and usually stops by your table to see how you are doing. They also have great drinks and desserts. I highly recommend this restaurant.

Great food as always. A reservation is strongly recommended as it's always busy.

Excellent Italian food. Service is quick and efficient. This place is distinguished by its authenticity. No bar food here, just a full range of Italian dishes designed to satisfy every palate. One odd thing..only time I have had a wedge salad with a vinaigrette dressing (not bad, but ask for blue cheese). The deserts are something else...leave room because they are made on site and delicious. I was so full I just ordered Tiramisu to go It looked so tasty.

We had a table of 5. We arrived at about 5:30 and the place was empty. It was a little early but they seemed surprised to see us at all and weren't particularly friendly or welcoming ever. They couldn't find our reservation but seated us anyway, way back by the kitchen (which has no door so I could see everything going on back there for an hour and a half). Our table was in the middle of the walkway on two sides and every time anyone would walk behind me my chair would dip just a little which got annoying. Occasionally, one of the staff would walk out, stand right behind my chair (less than a foot away), and communicate with other staff members. Once he was almost yelling which was not great. The service was also pretty slow and, once again, not super friendly but it was ok. The food was fine but every person at our table said it was too salty, myself included and I never noticed saltiness so it must have been high. 2 people had a fish dish (a special I think) and seemed to like it, one had the black pasta (he liked it) and I had a linguini seafood stew (Linguini Pescatore maybe) which was very good but had so much salt. The price for 5 people: 5 entrees, 3 salads, and and one or two drinks per person was $360 which I feel was high for the combination of the seating, the service, and the salty food. I have to say I can't heartily recommend Carlos & Carlos.
