    Good evening, I am an international student that was feeling sick for around a week and a bit and with no knowledge of the dutch health system I was treated rudely at the emergency section. Today doctors were not in service so I went to emergency service to seek for a doctors appointment or to know how to get an appointment another time. The person at the front desk stated that "I didn't look sick", when I mentioned that I just wanted to know how can I see a doctor soon because I have examinations the following week. As a student from Spain the system is different and I have no gp, I stated that i appointment myself to Huisartspraktijk Maartens for the following week for which she corrected my pronunciation of dutch several times. I asked numerous times that I just wanted to know if there is a way I could see a doctor as soon as possible at the hospital in another moment but she repeated that the service she offered was emergency and did not answer my question. I understood that emergency service is for medical conditions that cannot be delayed for treatment. She was just not helpful and rude and generally health practicares should not decide if a patient can opt to be treated

The nurse's dismissive attitude left me disheartened, as I sought the empathetic care I needed during this distressing time. The lack of compassion from the nurse persisted. Instead of offering guidance or reassurance, I was simply informed about my house doctor's availability at 8 am, without consideration for the urgency of my situation. My attempts to explain my inability to make phone calls were met with apathy, and the suggestion to leave the hospital was bewildering. This incident sheds light on a recurring pattern of unequal treatment within the emergency department of Catharina Ziekenhuis. The contrast in care between myself and white patients serves as a stark reminder of the ongoing racial bias that continues to affect institutions. My experiences accompanying white friends to the same hospital further highlight the disparities. Their immediate care accentuates the racial inequalities deeply ingrained within the hospital's system. As an LGBTQ+ refugee who fled persecution due to my sexuality, I'm all too familiar with the hate refugees often encounter. These biases are perpetuated by uneducated professionals who fail to see the humanity beyond our circumstances. It's disheartening to face a healthcare system that mirrors the very oppression I fled from. In conclusion, my visit to Catharina Ziekenhuis emphasizes the urgent need to address and rectify the deeply rooted discrimination present in healthcare. While I hold respect for the dedication of medical staff, this experience underscores the necessity for compassionate, unbiased patient care. P.S. It's important to note that the hospital seemingly restricts review content. I want to inform you that I'll be sharing the complete version of this review with my lawyer, doctor, therapist, global media outlets, and LGBTQ+ organizations related to refugee support and the United Nations.     Got an Emergency accident, didn't call the Ambulance on the place where I got accident, could go to Hospital by my self. Went over there to Emergency, and they said that I need to go to my GP first... Are you guys do this only for foreign people.? Because today was the same, but for different person... Went to Veldhoven side "Maxima Medisch Centrum Hospital and recieved immediate help. Really in Catharina Ziekhouse is that much uneducated people, low IQ people, that in Emergency moment they say to visit ur GP first.? Or who is that dumb who made this policy.? What people are recruited in Reception, cannot read, don't hear, don't see, don't understand...??? Very bad experience with Catharina Ziekhause. For foreign people is better "Maxima MC Veldhoven" Immediate reaction, very nice quality help and attitude in overall. Statisfied.

    We must pay so much money monthly for health insurance and when we get sick there is absolutely no place to go or get help! How am I supposed to stay home 38 days waiting for my appointment with chemical burns?!

    I was bitten by a tick. After visiting the hospital, they gave me a piece of paper with a phone number. I wish I had called to make an appointment with a personal doctor. No help for foreigners! Yes, a nice and comfortable hospital, but that's it.

    I have never been so much professionally insulted in my entire life. I have terrible headaches, really debilitating, I went to Catharina Ziekenhuis hospital twice this week, first they sent me home with a few pills that didn't helped, second time they literally said that they would not treat me because my incapacitating pain is not life threatening and not considered an emergency. I would never trust a doctor that don't take paint seriously. I can buy weed without any controls in a coffee shop, but I can't get medication for my pain... Makes total sense, right?

    Clean hospital and beautiful too. From outside has waiting shed for the clients. They also have big parking area. When you enter the hospital you can see the reception right away, there are also men and women standing in front of the door to ask if you need an assistance or a help. They have 8 ( if Im not mistaken ) big and wide elevators. They also have signs or ( bordjes ) to show you the right way. This hospital has also canteen, bakery flower shop hair salon etc. If you have health insurance you dont have to pay. In Nederland it is must to have your own insurance otherwise you have to pay a lot.

    Very clean and modern. Terribly organized. My partner went in for surgery and they had no idea she was coming. My partner had the same treatment by telephone two days prior. Everything seems in place but there is a serious lack of administrative and pastoral care.

    Without any acrimony towards the first-line-staff, provided its not their fault and overall they truly seem to be doing their best. Please note that I am talking from self experience and this may not apply to everyone. -Management at the center is quite desirable, and its clearly visible on a bunch of the staff being either a bit stressed or straight up burnt or exhausted. Its a very saturated hospital with an interesting approach of over-scheduling consultations. (Two consultations about the same topic without any mid-diagnosis procedures that could remotely change the discussion's outcome is either truly poor administration, or leeching. I'll leave the benefit of the doubt). -Rather than being quite a transparent institution, requesting for a transfer from within, is pretty much impossible. In the last several days, I've been bounced 12 times amidst the same 3-4 departments in an attempt to request having my latest dossier delivered back to my GP. (Did not work out in the end, thus I had to send my outdated record and start the over the diagnosis procedure at the new center). -For being one of the main hospitals in a city circling 50% expat ratio, the English proficiency is lacking to some degree. Which further translates into an interesting language barrier in several of the consultations I've experienced. Not complaining on the matter that not all staff speaks second language, but on the fact the institution attempts to come across as English's speaker friendly rather than communicating that some mishaps may occur, in order to allow the patient to make their own choice. Overall, speaking about the own experience, I've been having quite an stressful, confusing and quite negative experience with this hospital. (but as indicated, it may not be the case for everyone, and overall they will end up getting the job done. It may just take a while and be quite confusing for some individuals)

    Terrible hospital! I have a L5 S1 hernia in my spine which has put me in so much pain i cant walk, sleep or eat properly unless i take 80mg morphine per day. The Neurologist first miss diagnosed me, i basically had to diagnose myself and push him towards sending me to a neurosurgeon. I was supposed to get a 10 minute phone call on the 20th February and i waited all day next to my phone however they did not call. When i phoned the neurology department the next day the woman on the reception was extremely rude and said to me they did not call because the surgeon was busy. When i asked can i speak to the surgeon now then? She replied no you must wait another 4 weeks. So i am writing this review to whoever is reading whilst i am in so much pain i find it hard to write this message, taking 80mg morphine per day. My Sciatic nerve is so compressed and damaged the pain literally takes my breath away. I fear i will now have permanent nerve damage in my spine because of lack of help. I cant get a second opinion until i have spoke to the surgeon at Catherina Ziekenhuis. I feel so angry, sad and un helped. I am only 32 years of age and i am a personal trainer however my youth and my job has been swollowed away by this disability. I have had problems with my spine for 10 years however the last 3 months was where i needed help the most but unfortunately i did not get it yet. My experiences of this hospital are discusting. We pay so much money for health insurance here in NL and this is what we get in return. Corona plays no role here as im sure they can find 10 minutes in 7 weeks to call me.

    It is a really nice and professional hospital. The parking spots can be from time to time a bit limited, but so far I always found a spot. The building is well structured and everything is easy to find. The emergency is always busy, but that is mainly based on the fact that everyone even with only minor problem is passing by. That is terrible for the people who really need help.

    Hospital with high standard and service. Nothing but positive comments for personep who is working here. I highly recommend it. Only down side is lack of parking space in peak days. Really hard top find place. Location of hospital is really good. In green area of Eindhoven with good connections and roads towards centre and highway.

    At first I thought it was a good hospital but it feels like they don’t take me seriously like I had a appointment and it was moved so a couple days ago I called for information I waited on the phone for 15 minutes maybe even longer and they hanged up (that I waited so long was not the problem but that they hang up) so I called back and they told me to call them back the next day (the woman on the phone was really rude I was quite shocked) so I did what they told me to do and they still didn’t say anything. I found this so rude I hope that they will change there attitude because I’m dying of pain. Although some people that work there were sweet and kind, I hope they will start to take patients and there pain seriously. At a hospital the care of a patient should be there number one priority so please do listen to your patients ills.

    I always thought of hospitals as a place of hope, a place where the sickly can have a second chance. This is certainly not true in this place, where the nurse scolded me 3 times (yes, 3 times, before even asking what I had) for not going to my house doctor. I bet they learn a different kind of medical science in the Netherlands, because apparently I had a "closed infection" which might not get worse! Oh, and the nurse suggested that if I had a fever I should just get my bike and ride to the hospital, in the pleasant dutch weather! That was actually better than to hear from a doctor that, although I had an infection (a closed one, very important) it was not bad enough to give me medication. And then she scolded me more for wasting their time! 50 euros, learned several medical "facts", got scolded about 5 times and didnt get any medicine... I wish they were killing me with kindness, instead they were just ripping me off while being really rude!

    This is the worst hospital experience i ever had in my life. The surgeon did their best jobs to do what they need to do to save people life. But The one that ran around the hospital thinking that they are so great give the hospital the bad name, reputation and cold hearted treatment that they can give to human. I have transferred to this hospital for 4 bypass surgery. Everything was great up to the point that surgeon helped me without a doubt, the experience after that is like living hell in the place that you should think it should be a safe place for sick people. It is a big hospitals and I try to understand that general doctors and nurses deal with very sick people or bypass surgery everyday but they should have a second thought that all these patients don’t have bypass surgery experience like a pro. They expect patients to know drills that they do everyday. I woke up from surgery in CCU for couple hours and being transferred to normal room expect to stand up, clean myself, and understand all the drills. When i need helped, the promise was there but the nurses disappeared. I fell so unwelcome. After being treat so badly many times after the forth days of operation. One lady young doctor walked into my room and said i should discharge and go home. No need to go back to home hospital that they sent me in for surgery at the first place. I sometimes wonder how these people would ever try to see from the other persons perspectives. Or even remembering why they want to be a doctor or a nurse at the first place. Why they leave their kind hearted behind because they think they work in one of the best heart hospitals in NL. I would give 5 stars for the surgeon but for the rest I wish I could give None.

    The maternity department is staffed by incompetent, disrespectful, unprofessional hacks that let me sit in a waiting room, as my daughter went for epidural. They decided to do a C-section without saying a word to me as I sat there. No regard for the life of my daughter or grand daughter. Then of course when I called a woman who ide tidied herself as a nursing supervisor, refused to give me her name. Real professionals!

    We were expecting our daughter to be born here but due to a software update on the 27th of februari they only allowed very urgent cases. So she was delivered in Veldhoven instead. The next day they sent an ambulance to pick her up and they gave us a spacious, comfortable room in the incubator department since she was born early. It's a shame the covid rules denied my father to visit her, even though he then just recently had a heart problem. We would like to thank the nurse team for eventually bending the rules and allowing him to visit his granddaughter. Especially since her grandmother passed away in the same hospital last year before she could see her.

    This place didn't attend me even though I had a Dutch Insurance and a European Insurance. This place has the worst costumer service I have seen in a hospital ever. By the way, it is a public hospital and still they treat the patiences like they are only money bags. I have a fever and a sore throat and still they didn't attend me.

    I have a chest pain since 4 month ago and also i have coughing some tims with blood i visited cathrena ziken huse more than 5 time it was very bad no one know what i have i dont know what i see but please take care more of people we are a human evry day i come to make a klacht in klacht room but no one work there its very strange we are in Europe and i have a very hard pine more than 4 month and no one know the answer was maybe its very bad i dont know what i have to see no one filling for me pain im going to amircan hospital in lebanon there they can help me because here no one answe no one help no one filling

    This hospital is amazingly amazing!. I was so satisfied with their service. Nice and clean room, helpful and caring staffs all makes me comfortable through my heavy labor day. The nurses (Anne Marie and Floor) of course other nurses and doctors also are professional and really caring. They help me through the days while my husband can’t beside be at night due to health issue. The food also so delicious compare with other ‘hospital food’. I didn’t expect to much for food at hospital, but the food (dinner)that they prepared is super! My baby boy was born at this hospital on 6th nov 2019. I stayed at kraamsuite 14.

    I can't say any bad word about work of doctors, my condition was tragic, when i came to the hospital, but they lifted me up. Good medical care, additional consultations with different specialists if needed, high quality medical equipment, helpful personnel, comfortable beds, really tasty food. Some methods of treatment are untypical, what can be frightening for unprepared person, but in general, it works, as i found on my own. One star less, because some nurses /not every, but there is small amount/ are trying to be smarter than Internet, and taking own decisions instead of taking consultation with doctors, or even patients experienced with their own sicknesses, so it comes to risky situations, like unwanted rise up of sugar level for diabete, because 'I know better', or treating patients like kids or idiots.
