The natural course of the Mark was restored around the turn of the century. As a result, characteristic plants such as dwarf rush and vesicant buttercup have appeared. Fish stocks also improved. The Bullhead has been observed again since 2014 and is spreading in the side streams. Sand martins nest annually in steep walls and kingfishers regularly appear after mild winters. For the first time in more than a century, a pair of storks breeds every year and young ones fly out. Canada Goose, Teal, Great Egret, Stonechat, Curlew and Egyptian Goose are common. In 2019, a pair of partridges with 25 young were seen near Heerstaaijen. The beaver also appeared in the Markdal in 2019 and badgers were seen.

(Translated by Google) Markdal is a special area. Surrounded by nature reserves, Markdal is still a place of change and contrast. The silence of the countryside and the bustle of the city and the A58 are close to each other, the border with Belgium is close. (Original) Markdal to specjalny obszar. Otoczony rezerwatami przyrody, Markdal jest nadal miejscem zmian i kontrastów. Cisza wsi i gwar miasta oraz A58 są blisko siebie, granica z Belgią jest blisko.

Beautiful area south of Breda which is perfect for walking, cycling, running or just relaxing. It is very peaceful. I wouldn't recommend visiting it when it is raining heavily because a big part of the paths are not concrete.

(Translated by Google) Superb location for walking. Parking your car near Bouvigne paradise. And then through the Markdal and then through the Mastbos to the well-known decking path. (Original) Schitterende locatie om te wandelen. Auto parkeren nabij Bouvigneparadijs. En dan lekker door het Markdal om vervolgens door het Mastbos naar het bekende vlonderpad te gaan.

Beautiful landscape! Green grass, clear water, scenic villas and many trees around, the beautiful Bouvigne castle and wonderful Mastbos are just few hundred meters away. There are cows, sheep’s, swans, geese and all kinds of birds..... There are paths for biking, walking. Like paradise

Lovely walk just outside the center of Breda. On one side the beautiful Mastbos, and on the other side of the road the beautiful Markdal. Spotted a lot of birds in this beautiful place. And you can make the walk as long as you want.

(Translated by Google) Insanely beautiful nature reserve, well-developed walking and cycling paths. There are regularly stray cows and cattle, which you can walk and cycle between without a fence. Really beautiful! (Original) Waanzinnig mooi natuurgebied, goed aangelegde wandel- en fietspaden. Regelmatig staan er loslopende koeien en runderen, waar je zonder omheining tussen loopt en fietst. Echt prachtig!

👍 Nice park, well maintained and easy to access. There's also a water point available to get free drinking water. There's a small playground and little cafe on one side and a pond.
