Made
a
booking
for
May
2021.
Because
of
Covid
we
were
not
allowed
to
travel
from
Belgium
to
the
Netherlands
and
therefore
we
wanted
to
cancel
the
booking.
A
cancellation
with
refund
was
not
accepted
by
the
owner
so
we
agreed
to
postpone
the
booking
with
1
year
to
June
2022.
By
then
we
had
already
paid
the
full
amount.
6
months
before
the
new
booking
date
we
had
to
change
our
plans
and
decided
to
cancel
completely.
Their
cancellation
policy
clearly
states
that
if
you
do
this
42
days
before
arrival,
30%
will
be
charged
and
70%
will
be
refunded.
I
understand
that
they
need
to
cover
admin
costs
(30%
is
actually
quite
a
lot,
but
nevertheless)
and
rebook
the
accommodation.
But
we
canceled
6
months
in
advance,
so
I
would
presume
this
would
give
them
ample
time
to
do
this.
The
owner
stated
that
the
initial
booking
date
of
May
2021
should
be
used
as
a
reference.
How
is
this
possible
if
the
government
does
not
allow
you
to
travel?
He
indicated
this
to
be
logical,
although
their
policy
does
not
mention
this
kind
of
situation.
As
a
'gesture'
he
refunded
us
40%,
admitting
actually
that
he
is
in
the
wrong.
What
he
should
have
done
is
refund
us
70%.
Now
he
cashes
twice,
because
he
will
have
probably
received
another
booking
for
it.
In
my
book,
that
is
called
a
scam.
