4 due to my own experience. I knew it was a like the smaller zoos I'm familiar with, like Cape May County Zoo. I prepared the kids who were going with me to expect "an educational zoo" with the wildlife of North America represented. All of the animals were in great shape! All of there exhibits, even though they were of the older, "caged animals" type, interested and educated the 15yr old and 4yr old with us. If you have never been here before and are expecting any zoo like a large city, you'll be very disappointed. But I had a solid 4 out of 5, and I'll do it again. Once a year is perfect.

THE BEST ZOO I HAVE EVER BEEN TO SO FAR!!! They rescue all of the animals in the exhibits which is awesome. All of the animals are native to the north east regions so America and Canada. It was great really intimate experience because your literally up close to all the animals. Closest I’ve ever been to a lot of the types of animals I saw. I didn’t pay extra for the zoo because I got tickets for Hershey park for 49$ so that was cool. I would definitely recommend everyone to go. Once you know the animals are rescues it completely changes your perspective on place. It was heartfelt. Please do yourself the favor and visit this place at least once!!!!

Hershey Park Happy! Let's just put this out there right away... it's expensive! They moved the Carousel to the front Gates, but left the Canopy to provide some shelter. The food is incredibly overpriced and the quality is low. An overcooked Cheeseburger, handful of Fries and Drink without Ice are $22. On the other hand, aside from the Restrooms being almost non-usable, the Park was clean and the Staff was generally in a good mood. Zoo America has a few empty Exhibits, but the animals are active. The Black Bear had two 2" gashes on the left side of its neck, possibly from the Brown Bear. Will probably go again, but not any time soon.

The zoo itself is awesome, it's located directly outside of Hershey park. If you buy a ticket to the theme park the zoo is included. You can also buy a ticket to just the zoo. Overall the zoo isn't huge but the animals are all super easy to see and it never seems too busy when we go. Good amount of animals to see prob takes about 2 hours to get through the whole park after seeing the animals.

My kids loved seeing all the animals, the coolest part was when we were looking at the wolves and an ambulance went by the wolves all started howling. It was so cool to see ans hear them. Obviously this is not a normal occurrence, but just seeing the animals would have been enough.

Great tiny zoo! Very quaint and provides a nice selection of different animals. The owls were our favorites. My daughter enjoyed it but hoped there was more food options. Told her more would be open in Spring!

What a great day spent at Zoo America! There are a ton of different animals and exhibits to see, including multiple indoor exhibits. We took the 'Suggested Route' and it was fantastic. Each day, there is a different 'Meet and Greet' with select animals. The bear and eagle exhibits were so cool! Definitely check out the otters, too. The whole zoo has a lot of shade and coverage to avoid the sun. The indoor exhibits both are much bigger than they appear with a large number of animals/creatures in both! Overall, the zoo is great! It's definitely worth coming to! It's a good size, especially for walking around with little ones. Felt like you get up close to most animals. Only down side is the gift shop is on the smaller side and pricey but does have some cool souvenirs.

I loved our Zoo America experience. We went on a Monday at 10 am so it wasn’t crowded at all. The exhibits are really cool - separated by ecosystem. A lot of the animals were active when we were there which added to the experience.

If you buy a ticket for Hershey Park admission it's free to enter Zoo america. It was kind of crowded and very unorganized as far as people being able to walk through and see everything. But my son was okay bouncing around looking at each window just like every other person was doing. It would have been easier if they had a certain way of walking through and seeing instead of just one big room. The outside exhibits are very nice.

Zoo America is a small zoo adjacent to Hershey Park. We purchased separate admission online prior to our visit and check-in was quick and easy.Due to the pandemic unfortunately the buildings housing the reptiles were closed ( we did discover a unmarked side trail not marked that let you peek into the reptile building ) They only showcase animals from North America so you won't find major animals here you would see at a normal zoo. They do have bears and bobcats though. They also have a good selection of various bird species. One thing we loved was the hand sanitizer was plentiful and extremely present every few feet unlike chocolate world. I gave it 4 stars only due to the poor signage and lack of mask enforcement. They don't offer maps (you can download your own or use the Hershey Park app) . We did our first lap quickly and thought we were done. We were about to leave and accidentally stumbled on a unmarked path by the back exit that led to several more animals we would have missed. Determined to retrace our steps we found another path we missed after the bear enclosure that had a few more animals. Also lots of people just were not wearing mask at all or just holding them in their hands. There is no staff walking around to enforce the rules at all so people were doing whatever they wanted. Also the bear enclosure was extremely crowded at times with people not following the floor markers. Other than that we had a great time.

Loved it. The animals are beautiful, just felt sad for some of them. I got to see some birds but most of them were not being shown to public, for their safety (bird flu going around) but it's a very beautiful area and definitely worth a stop. The wolf, ocelot, and mountain lion were my faves.

We visited the zoo as part of our HersheyPark ticket. They have over 200 animals from North America and they were awesome! It's a small zoo, takes less than an hour to walk through, but we enjoyed it!

Beautiful zoo and well worth a visit. The wildlife seen in this zoo have all been rescued in some way. What a nice family day we had here.

It's a small zoo, but there are some very cool animals here. With all the other attractions around it's a cool stop to have on your agenda, but don't have it as your main attraction. Another great thing was we were able to use our zoo pass from the North Carolina zoo for a big discount.

01/21/2023 this zoo is open almost yr round. Its a smaller zoo with lots of interesting animals.. kids loved it and we were there for about 2 hrs. I cant remember how much it cost to get in but it was fun for the kids. No wait no lines felt like we were the only people in the zoo.

This was such a fun experience. I have been to Hershey's more than 5 times and I never knew they had ZooAmerica as well. There were many species of rare animals. I learned a lot, the staff was helpful. Overall great experience, it's best if you have kids in family, they will have a great time here!

Despite the fact that it wasn't very big this is an absolutely wonderful zoo. There is a suggested path that allows you to see everything if you follow it which makes things simple. The animal displays are great because you can really get up close to them. My favorite part was the nocturnal animals that were kept in low light so you could see them be active.

Up until now I have always been under the impression that the bigger the zoo the better. After visiting this 11 acre zoo I have completely changed my view on this. This zoo has an amazing collection of animals and fantastic exibits. The staff is very friendly and informative and there is so much to do. Even if you just came to Hershey to go to the zoo it would be worth it!

Nice little zoo near Hersheypark. It's not a big zoo by any means so its something perfect to supplement going in the park as well. It is however a very nice zoo with well kept enclosures for the animals and they all seem to be well taken care of. I did the private tour which was neat. It was nice being able to walk around without the crowds. You pay more for the private tour but its worth every penny.

Zoo America is a great area to have a zoo. Zoo America has a great list of animals, such as owls, wolves, prairie dogs, paragon falcons, elk, bear, mountain lions, and more! These animals are all North American and do not disappoint. These people take care of the animals very well and also the animals have a lot of space to play among. These animals also aren't lonely and have multiple animals of the same kind. Zoo America is trying to help protect and recover these animals back to it's previous state and to have a great viewing experience for viewers.

Had a wonderful day! It's super open right now as there's this "pandemic" but if you're not afraid to live there's almost no other visitors right now. I REALLY REALLY recommend it!

The zoo is very small, especially the enclosures, which makes me sad. There are reptile and nocturnal exhibits. I accessed the zoo from inside Hershey park. (You can access from outside the park as well.) It is wheelchair accessible though you may need help going up and down hills.

The ALL VULTURE zoo. Apparently, the zoo has been having issues with them for ages. They put up an info sign somewhere to make their presence look intentional, but they are wild and tend to stalk the animals. Kind of creepy. Check out the pic with them surrounding the bear (it’s in the tube). I assume they’re there for its food....maybe... The zoo also has a pretty messed up parking situation. The prairie dogs were cool, though.

Oh my what can I say. This was a trip for my birthday this 2021 year and WOW, so much fun. There is so much to do, so PLAN for 2 days if you want to do it all. We had a great time. I was actually surprised Hershey Park was very busy during the currrent pandemic stuff. Everyone was so happy & just living their best life. It was a great day!

The overall experience be would be better if the website mentioned that parking is limited and may be full if you arrive in the morning. Overflow parking is nearby, but if I had known that ahead of time I would have gone there first. Either that or have spaces set aside for people who have Zoo membership. The website should also be updated with information like birds being kept inside due to the bird flu. I have no problem with that, but all the other zoos in the area actually mention that on their website. If you're not aware of this it just seems like they don't have many animals. I was there on a Friday in April and most of the outdoor animals were more active in the afternoon. The only animals visible in the morning were the deer, elk, otters and wolves. In the afternoon the Moubtain Lion, Bobcat was America Marten were out while the otters were napping.

One of the best ones I've ever visited. If you take your time looking at all the exibits, the duration of the route lasts about an hour long. Worth every minute.

1st family trip in September 2022. This is a nice 11-acre North American wildlife refuge zoo. My family of 3 spent 2 hours in the zoo. It was leading up to closing time. We could have easily spent 2 1/2-3 hours to thoroughly see and appreciate all. So glad we got to visit Zoo America.

A lovely small zoo with a "suggested path" which takes you around zoo, so you don't miss an exhibit. Staff were super kind and the zoo was clean & well laid out. I'd plan an hour to see everything. Tip... AZA membership can make this a free trip to the zoo (some memberships are only 50% off)

Came here with an hour and a half before they closed. We breezed though the whole thing by the time the park closed. 11 acres about and the animals were all there. For the most park, many were asleep. Not a big crowd of people during the weekdays. Parking wasn't an issue. There were big black vultures flying around. And apparently they're not part of the zoo. They're working with animal groups in how to have them not migrate to their zoo area. Think of giant black seaguls waiting to steal your unattended food. All north American animals are in the exhibit and wonderful to see.

Quaint little zoo with many animals. Just enough species from the different regions of North America to view without getting overwhelmed. I recommend going earlier in the day before it gets too hot and the animals want to nap to see the most action. I got my entrance to the zoo as apart of the Herseypark ticket bundle.

Not a theme park person, so this is why I visit Hershey. It's a cozy zoo, so don't worry about coming close to closing. The main pathway only takes about half an hour which I appreciate. Accessible because of ramps everywhere and I like supporting businesses that help local populations. They have bird and bee houses. Nice place :) 🐺

ZooAmerica in Hershey, Pennsylvania. When visiting Hershey park the admission was included. It’s a fun way to slow down from the hustle of the amusement park. With lots of animals to see including night animals. Always fun to see. Not sure the price as I came from the amusement park. But still a fun little get away and rest as you see the amazing animals here.

Our visit to ZooAmerica in Hershey, PA, was truly memorable, filled with exciting activities and fascinating wildlife encounters. The diverse range of exhibits and engaging displays ensured that there was never a dull moment during our trip. One of the highlights was spending time observing the playful otters. Their energetic antics and underwater acrobatics provided entertainment for visitors of all ages. The bear exhibit was equally impressive, allowing us to witness these majestic creatures up close and learn more about their natural behaviors. The wolf exhibit was a definite standout, offering a unique and captivating experience. The wolves' presence was both powerful and intriguing, providing insight into the beauty and importance of these incredible animals in the wild. The knowledgeable staff added depth to the experience, sharing interesting facts and answering questions with enthusiasm. The overall atmosphere of ZooAmerica was welcoming and family-friendly. The exhibits were well-maintained, and the cleanliness of the facilities added to the positive experience. It's evident that the staff is dedicated to the well-being of the animals and the satisfaction of visitors. Our trip to ZooAmerica was not only entertaining but also educational. The combination of wildlife observation and informative displays created a well-rounded experience. I highly recommend ZooAmerica in Hershey, PA, for anyone seeking a delightful blend of fun and learning in a beautiful setting.

Maybe it was time if day but most animals were not visible or sleeping. The Zoo is old. I want to say fun down but the old gives it something I cant quite explain .I entered from the amusement park so my fee was included in the park price I paid for Hersey park. Not sure if the entrance fee to Zoo alone would be worth the price or trip. That's not my call

First time I've been back to Zoo America in a couple decades. Seemed a lot fewer animals than I remember. But maybe that's me. Same old layout. Not particularly attractive or well laid out for the animals. Old-school type of zoo. Needs a renovation for the animals.

  • 3/5 brandi E. 3 years ago on Google
Would have been a 5 star if we would have been able to see more animals. I personally think that 13 dollars is kinda nuts to get into a zoo where you only get to see a few animals. While I do understand why the indoor exhibits are closed. It is not worth it for the few animals you do get to see.outside in my opinion.

  • 4/5 Joshua T. 3 years ago on Google

The animals are in very small enclosures. It is an ok zoo, don't go before the park opens, then they get you for another $5 each to enter from the zoo America entrance rather than go through the park to get there for free.

What a perfect way to spend a few hours with the kids! The animals were so entertaining. The wolf's were out playing and wrestling with each other. We saw 2 of the bears stand up on there hind legs and give each other "high 5s." We walked around and saw each exhibit 2 or 3 times. All the staff were so nice and friendly. I would definitely suggest this to anyone needing to get out of the house and get some fresh air. Doesn't cost much and the kids loved it!!

I walk by this place all the time... Why do we need to put animals in places like this? And what's with all the buzzer hawks? Just feel if we HAVE to save animals because they can't survive in the Wild....do we have to display them? It's not Hershey <insert corporate name subsidiary> can't upgrade the living conditions of these poor creatures and build...idk...something else to get those tourist $$$.

My little one definitely enjoyed it. Plenty to see with nice selection of animals. Took us about an hour and a half to browse through the park at normal pace.

Although not the main attraction, definitely not an afterthought. All the animals were interesting and was a great stop over!

Had a wonderful time. Enjoyed seeing the different animals. They have over 20 animals that are native to the area that roam freely.

Full of wonderful animals from N America. Isn't so big you get lost, takes about 2 hours from beginning to end depending how fast your kids run ahead

Absolutely beautiful, spacious, and the employee gave a lot of advice of the timing of feeding to see the animals when they're out. Atmosphere was quiet, large, amazing scenery. I would highly, recommend for a quiet peaceful exhibit of the unique animals!

The zoo is very small compared to others but I also felt that I was able to be closer to the animals than at others. Our favorites were the owls, bobcats, roadrunners, otters, deer and the bears! The prairie dogs and roadrunners were very playful and active. Clean restrooms in the gift shop building. Gift shop was tiny.

It's a nice clean place, but average for a zoo. Some of animals pretty far away. Snack bar ok but pricey and limited selections. Eat before you get there. There is a creek running through the zoo. You can feed the ducks and fish from the bridge. If you've never been there it's worth a look.

Tucked inside of Hershey Park, Zoo America is a great place to visit. It will surely enhance your park experience and make the day even more memorable. Admission is included with a park ticket, so there are no additional costs. It's not super big and doesn't take too long to walk through. I think its the perfect size. Any bigger, and I could see it being difficult to keep young children from getting cranky about not being in the main park riding the rides. It is home to bears, wolves, mountain lions, elk, porcupines, bald eagles, prairie dogs, as well as various snakes and reptiles. There is also a nocturnal exhibit. In my opinion, this is where you'll find the most impressive animal in the zoo, the Ocelot. It's breathtakingly beautiful. So, if you ever find yourself spending a day at Hershey Park, be sure to check out Zoo America. You'll be glad you did.

Nice variety of animals to see. You won't be disappointed. You can visit ZooAmerica without having to go to the park.

Definitely a smaller Zoo, but is very kid-friendly! They have restrooms at convenient locations, and the fences to view the animals through have good visibility for toddlers without you having to hold them up every time!!! It is a fun experience!

Zoo America was amazing! To see all of the animals they have there. I didn't take pictures of every single animal. But the eggs are the barn owl eggs. The 2nd picture has two cats in it. Laying on top of each other. If you can go find the 2nd one. I definitely recommend visiting Zoo America.

I been to Hershey park alot of times with my oldest child and he always wants to just ride the rides and play the games. This was the first time I took my youngest and she really wanted to visit ZooAmerica so I was excited. It was such a great experience. I have really missed out every time I have visited the park. It is included in the price when you pay for a hershey ticket which is so nice. The animals that they had there for so different which was fun to see and how they have it set up was neat as well. I will definitely encourage my oldest when we go back to check it out.

Loved it! - We went mid October so temps were cooler and most of the animals were out and about being seen. - Nice to stroll around and just enjoy

A small zoo featuring animals from all across North America. Ticket prices aren’t bad and they offer military discounts! This place is well kept and the facilities are clean. Would definitely recommend taking your kids here to see the animals!

It was a cool little zoo. I liked the fact that they focused on refuge animals found in North America. The bridge walkover from Hershey Park is nice. I had never seen a pronghorn before, so that was very cool!

This is a very small, fun zoo with only North American exhibits. It takes less than an hour to go through, shorter if the creatures are hiding. The price is reasonable and there's lots of shade and comfortable stopping points. The best exhibit is the bears if they're active. They have a pool to play and wrestle in.

My children and I love ZooAmerica. It's a great place to see many of the animals native to North America. Each of the exhibits is respectful to the animal, many of whom can't survive in the wild on their own. Going to ZooAmerica at different times of day allows you to see the animals in the kind of periods of time in which they are active. The staff are friendly and knowledgeable and there are many special events and summer activities for children to participate in. For us ZooAmerica is one of the reasons Hershey is the sweetest place on Earth.

Was cute, wish there were more interactive things for kiddos. River had a good time though. It wasn't too crowded. Animals do what they want, so I'm not bummed some of the cool ones were hidden asleep. We got to see mostly all the animals.

This is a nice place to visit with small either with a Hershey park ticket or on its own. Don’t expect a full zoo quality experience, you can do this in half a day. It can get pretty hot, make sure to bring water. There are also plenty of penny presses of you like to collect them

Had a great time at ZooAmerica. I like how easy it is to follow the suggested path and see everything, without feeling like you may have missed something. It’s on the short side, but the exhibits are interesting enough that I felt completely fulfilled by the time it was over.

The zoo is worth it for the price you pay, under $100 for a family of 5. Or free if you come from Hersheypark. Lots of exhibits, indoor and outdoor, but no bears... Most of the animals were not very active at 1 in the afternoon. The most active were the Prairie Dogs and Turtles. Routes around the zoo are easy to follow and very accessible with a stroller. Very small gift shop and free parking. If you're in the Hershey area, it's worth the visit.

We had a wonderful time on the 8am private tour-- it was well worth the cost. We were the only people in the park aside for staff, and all the animals were out and active since it was quiet. Our guide (Ash) was a lovely person and very knowledgeable. Lots of special memories made.
