Really nice famous sight in the Netherlands which is worth seeing! However, keep in mind that transportation is a bit of a challenge as you should make a few changes if you come by public transport. Also, the ticket is around 16 euros and includes boat, windmill entrance and museum buildings. There isn't a separate ticket just for the windmills or just for the boat. If you want to save some money bring your own food as there aren't any shops close to the sights and just one cafe. Overall, it is a really nice sight. Keep in mind the strong wind!

We visited during winter of 2023 on boxing day. This is a unesco site with 19 fully functioning windmills and it’s a perfect place for families and friends to experience the cultural heritage of the netherlands. Opens at 10:30 so you can take the 10:00 water bus from rotherdam. This is an outdoor area which can get very windy so makesure to wear enough clothing. The site includes 2 windmill musuems, one boat musuem, a boat tour and a musuem about the history with a short 11 minute film. Very worth your time and money as we came here specifically from a cruise ship. Learned quite a lot of the ingenuity of the ditch and how they make the windmills work. There’s a cafe and souvenir shop at the ticket office near the entrance but i recommend you bring some pack lunch.

A really beautiful place to visit. It was interesting learning about how the windmills function and what their purpose is. We had a wonderful tour guide who knew a lot about how to maintain and operate the windmills. If you get the opportunity to go inside the one windmill open to the public, take it! So interesting seeing the inside. There is a restaurant here and a very nice gift shop. Lots of opportunities for beautiful pictures.

Nice place to visit, even it deserves to come from Amsterdam as a day trip plan. You can go through the site without ticket but if you want to visit inside of the mills and have chance to take a ferry you should buy ticket. Price of ticket is about 18 euro. It has cafe, souvenir shop, toilet and parking lots. Enjoy nature, beauty, creativity and engineering there. Don't forget to ask leaders to tell you the function of the mills.

Wind mills from 1740s being maintained in very mint condition - A world heritage center. Parking at the place is bit tricky so plan it in advance. Tickets are pricey (includes visit to the mills along with the boat ride) or can go on a walk free of cost and buy tickets for mills separately as well. If you want to see the water management system of the 18th century then this is a unique place to visit! Almost all the engineering parts inside the mill is made of wood itself and the wood logs are so huge. On a windy day it could get noisy but it is amazing to see that the almost 400 years old mills still working like charm!

What a lovely place to be! I thoroughly enjoyed my trip with my family. The boat sail was incredible and the windmills were illuminated (they do it once a week a year in September, if I am not wrong). Overall, had some good time!

I was there on a Friday afternoon, there were no people at all, only cyclists rarely passed by. This is a great place to just get high, you can see the oldest mill in the Netherlands, as well as walk along the beautiful streets near the canal. There are 19 windmills in total, which are considered a UNESCO heritage. Very unusual, I recommend.

This was an unusual experience, you can experience nice scenery, you can choose to walk or ride a bike around. Sometimes bikes are not available for unknown reasons (or at least not understandable for me) and that would be the only remark. Other than that, definitely worth of visiting and experiencing. Entrance fee is a bit on the high side.

A must visit place. Think has biggest set of wind mills. You get to see them in action. The whole thing is well organized. Need to park a bit away and reach using shuttle bus. Can use the hop on hop off boat to visit the three mills. Or you can walk to couple of them.

We bought the all inclusive tickets and parked at the designated area 15’ away - very pricey BUT the ticket also covers the fee for a bike rental which makes the whole experience complete! Cycling along the water channels is really awesome! The visit of the 2 windmills from inside is well worth the visit! We took the panorama boat but the view was really beautiful!

This was a great locale! Highly recommend! We stopped here as part of a Viking River Cruise from Amsterdam to Basel. Our guide was from the local area and was very knowledgeable about the site. For example, we learned all about how windmills worked, how old the windmills were (just know, they are OLD!), how the windmills are currently maintained and that Kinderdijk was the first place in the Netherlands to have electricity. Great place to visit!

It's a peaceful and unique place. You can buy tickets to visit the mills and do an audio tour OR go in for free and walk around the area. Just pack your bags with enough food & drinks and relax. The shuttle bus is a bit of a pain. Your patience will be tested :)

A unique collection of old Dutch windmills. Free to walk around the surrounding area and explore. Information can be found on the paths about the various windmills, the river and the entire area. Great place to visit and there’s also the opportunity to go into some of the windmills and see how the inside works (for a price).

This is our first time to this part of Europe and we were very pleased that 75 years ago the Queen decided to maintain the cultural heritage of the area and find the government funds to maintain and not tear down the old windmills. More interesting was the fact that families of up to 15 would live inside each of the mills! Fun fact: when going at full speed the sales of the mill are going at about 90 mi an hour. Worth the stop and the people were fabulous. Make certain that you bring a credit card as no cash is accepted.

Really beautiful place but need to walk for long way or else you can rent a bike or bicycle to see those views. Each windmill gives different experience and each place gives different vibes. Overall great place . We can take sooo many good photos and place gives different angle and different size of windmill so we can enjoy the whole few without fail. But there they had few food court and very few food items so better take so good and drink with you so you can eat and walk for that long without getting tired. Boat service also available. We can go inside some windmill houses and they can see some rare things and items they used a long time ago like wooden shoe and thread mill and mechanism of wind mill and current production . Had a good and new experience . Luckily had so many wallpaper pics than expected 😹😹

**Kinderdijk, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, is a must-see for any visitor to the Netherlands. The 19 windmills, built in the 18th century, are a testament to the Dutch ingenuity and determination to control the water.** [Image of Kinderdijk, UNESCO World Heritage Site] The windmills are located in the Alblasserwaard region of the Netherlands, a low-lying area that is prone to flooding. The windmills were built to pump water out of the land, draining it and making it suitable for farming. The windmills are still in use today, and they are a popular tourist destination. Visitors can take boat tours of the area, or they can hike or bike along the canals. Kinderdijk is a beautiful and fascinating place to learn about the Dutch history and culture. It is a truly unforgettable experience. Here are some of the things that make Kinderdijk a special place: * The windmills are in excellent condition, and they are a testament to the craftsmanship of the Dutch people. * The windmills are located in a beautiful natural setting, surrounded by canals, fields, and forests. * Kinderdijk is a popular tourist destination, but it is still a relatively peaceful and serene place to visit. If you are looking for a unique and memorable experience, I highly recommend visiting Kinderdijk.

The windmills are well preserved history. Really cool to see them in person still in working condition. Interesting to learn how they were used to pump water out of the below sea level reclaimed land.

Lovely spot but rather disappointing that they're not setup to handle visitors later in the day. We arrived about an hour before closing and the staff in the office unapologetically informed us that they could not sell us a ticket for anything because they only offered a complete deal and we wouldn't have time to do everything. Luckily we were able to come to an arrangement with the men running the boat tour otherwise it would have been a wasted trip.

Beautiful place, even though I can imagine that on weekends and during peak season it can get very crowded. Probably best experienced by bike, so you can do the complete loop. Access to the area is free, ticket (16/18€ depending on the day of the week) is necessary for access two the two windmills open to public and the pumping station

We took the bike from Rotterdam, which was really nice. The place is definitely worth a visit. We were glad we had the bikes as in summer there is no real shade and to see all the wind mills there is quite a distance between the first and last windmill. We visited in summer 2020, so it was not too full. But I can imagine that in normal times this spot gets quite busy. We took the ferry back to Rotterdam as we're were a bit tired and it was really hot, which was really quick and affordable.

Interesting historical place but outrageous how much the tickets are to visit the _TWO_ windmills. Good luck reading any of the descriptions if you can’t read Dutch or English. Better just take the free walk and see everything from the outside.

Best visited in summer, a really nice walk around the Windmills, you get to see how it was inside an old windmill and wear wooden shoes! One could take a tour for 16 euros but not needed. One of the nicest places to chillax when the weather allows it.

A must visit place in Netherlands. It shows the landscape, culture and technological skills of the Dutch. There is a paid parking at the entrance. Be prepared to walk , sometimes it can be windy and may also rain. You can also take a boat ride and visit the museum. There are some small eateries and souvenir shop.

Excellent place to visit for all ages. A must-do when in Amsterdam! Recommended to take the scenic route via water bus from Rotterdam harbour. You can definitely cycle around the fields, the terrain is flat and they have plenty of rental bikes for rent at avout 25 euros for half a day. Best to wear a beanie or headband as it gets very gusty. An absolute picturesque town!

Always one of the places you are told you must visit in the Netherlands but the local Dutch call it "too touristy". Really cool to see the history of the windmils as well as life how it used to be in the past. The only downside is it was around 19 euros to go to 2 museum and value wise it totally was not worth it. I understand the money is used to keep up the sites, preserve the history, etc but when it comes to straight value, it should have been priced at 8-10 euros. Overall nice bike path and walking paths as well.

A lovely place to visit. There are some windmills which have been renovated into a museum and you can look around or you can simply walk the path for free. Different tickets are available (ticket includes all museums, the boat trip and short video). There are toilets available but they are limited. Limited parking is available but you need to buy a ticket in advance for it. This track can get very busy with cyclists and tourists so try to come at off-peak times.

This little village is my favorite! It’s beautiful in all the seasons. I have been here for more than 100 times. Kinderdijk is the unique, one and only wind mills village in the world . It’s so scenic with typical Dutch landscape surrounding the wind mills. After the reconstruction, the view at the entrance is even more amazing. The newly constructed rooftop above the new ticket office provides a wonderful bird view of all the wind mills. Due to the Covid-19, all the indoor facilities are closed till the 1st of June.

Worth the trip - definitely allow 2+ hours (staff recommended 4!) to include the boat ride, walking time, etc. We made the mistake of arriving 45min before closing and only able to cover a small portion of the site.

A must visit place to enjoy the typical Dutch wind mill views. *Be aware of the crazy wind here and prepare some warm clothes + hat🤣

If you're passing through Netherlands don't forget to visit it. Picturesque landscape with old windmills. The Dutch landscape that every visitor expects to see.

Wonderful Windmill Park with two great insights into the living sphere of old times and how to live in a windmill. Most of them are still working with people living inside of them. Parking 10 Minutes outside and Shuttlebus Transfer is included in the Parking fees

Really enjoyed this place. As an outsider the wind mills, particularly the number that were there gave a good feeling for how much effort it took to keep the water at bay. Loved the way the mills had been restored. Loved being able to walk about for free.

It's quite more than what we have expected. A great view of some 1700s windmills and the life of millers in the 1900s. The free App actually comes very handy for the audio tour which was a great addition. Buy the separate parking ticket and park at the offsite lot then take a 10 minute shuffle is probably better way than trying to find a spot in the vicinity.

Heritage windmills park, depicting the how windmills played a big role in developing the nation. Nice settings, you can tour the inside of a working windmill, taking a boat ride, walk or ride a bike around the park. Good park to walk around, enjoying nature and learn a bit about the windmills. A must see when you are in the Netherlands.

Obviously, a nice place to see but the parking fee is near from robbery (nearly 10 €). They charge a lot for the visit of a mill, too. There is a nice couple making tiny pancakes just in front this mill museum : tasty and affordable ! This country is full of mills, all worth the visit, I guess. This place is famous so it's rather overcrowded but it could be worse !

The traditional view when you think of the Netherlands and there's some lovely countryside nearby. You can go in some of the windmills and get a boat ride. However we just went for a walk to see them and went onto the roof of the shop for a view. It was a lovely day when we went at around 3/4pm and it was very busy near the first few windmills and the car park was full. However we drove on further down and managed to find a parking lot in a housing estate nearby. It was quieter there and some of the further windmills were also quieter. You need to keep an eye out for cyclists also

One of the most beautiful nature walks around Rotterdam. The atmosphere is calm, peaceful and dreamy, especially if it's cloudy. There are many windmills, the most I've ever seen in one place, and I think the most concentrated in the world.

It was a great experience to actually visit the oldest collection of 18th century's traditional windmills. The place is calm and serene. You can walk or bike while passing through every windmill. This is a must in your bucket list when visiting the Netherlands.

Got to visit with some of my Dutch relatives! Definitely best enjoyed on a bike. Loved seeing all the scenery and even got to watch someone manage their windmill. The shop was cute and got to buy some fresh strawberries from a nice man selling them there. Also, the cafe was a nice cozy spot to chill and savour the moment.

Great UNESCO site. The wind mills are beautiful and the museum is nice. The app to listen to the explanations doesn't work properly, but it helps. You can rent a bike at the entrance near the waterbus stop, but be prepared they're probably the worst bike you'll ever ride.

Unfortunately, the staff we met were not at all visitor-friendly but downright unpleasant when we arrived with a mobile home. It doesn't get better that they placed the mobile home parking 1.5 km from the entrance while they had lots of car parking right next to the entrance. Quite simply, they don't want visitors from mobile homes. A shame as it is a world heritage site to see

Really enjoyed my time here. We drove into the area and there was parking available at EUR9.50. The parking is located next to a souvenir shop which provided bicycles for rent. From there it was a direct access to the windmills. Stunning sight and definitely worth the time to get there. Certainly do drop by on a nice day.

Kinderdijk is a fabulous way to get a better idea of Dutch ingenuity and how much of The Netherlands was created. There are 19 windmills; 2 are open to the public and the remainder are private residences. There’s a great entry/visitor’s centre which also has a gift shop, café, rooftop viewing area, and washrooms (paid, or included with ticket or purchase). With your ticket and a download of the free app, you get two versions of a guided tour, access to a multimedia film explaining the name and other factors, the historical pump house with interesting hands-on displays and a little shop, a bird exhibit, a boat tour which leaves/returns by the pump house, a hop on/off boat to the two windmills, and entry to the two windmills. It was fascinating and informative, a great way to spend several hours. Easy to get here from Rotterdam on the #21 WaterBus. Note that you can walk or cycle past the windmills without cost, but you can’t enter, use washrooms, see displays, go on boat, etc.
