Castellum Hoge Woerd is a castellum build on the real Roman castellum that was here more then 2000 years ago. The real castellum is still safe under the ground. Their showpiece is an original Roman boat. This is a perfect day out with children. There are lots of activities, a playground, space to run around, animals to cuddle and lots and lots to see and learn. We had a great day.

Great exhibit, free entrance. Cafe has an awesome beer selection! Lunch or dinner is great here. Very reasonable prices. Bring your kids in the summer with outdoor seating while you keep an eye on them through the big glass windows. Service can be slow, not very attentive. Open kitchen with a big gas furnace for fresh pizzas. Dogs welcome too, and nice. Recommended!

We sat for approx.1 hour in the restaurant. No service and there have been just 2 other guests. Staff didn't manage to take an order or anything. I wonder for what they are paid. . Unfortunately it's not possible to give zero stars. Before covid good place, now worthless.

Great free museum, interactive information, although seems only in Dutch. Nice to walk on the roof. Free petting zoo.

An excellent museum and cafe. We also went during a festival for kids so lots of music and activities too.

Really nice museum, what an impressive way to present the roman ship on the glass surface, it lookslike is on the water surface again. Just 20 min by bicycle from the center of Utrecht.

An exceptionally well designed museum and exhibit. Artifacts are beautifully presented. All absolutely fascinating for the adult and child history/archeology fan.

Relaxed green area, interestingly entertaining also for our kids. The little cafe putside was a little standard foodwise, and a bit understaffed during lunchtime.

A very nice place to visit. The museum is friendly and present well the presence of the Romans in northern Europe. The garden in the back is a great place to go with your young once to see some farming and farm animals.

Although it is realtive small, it is a very nice museum especially for people living in the neighborhood. It tells the long history of the neighborhood in a very interactive way. The entrance is free and you have a good lunch or dinner in their cafe/restaurant

Great place, combining a museum, a restaurant, a childrens' farm, and a theater. The museum is centered around a Roman transport ship, 25 m long, that was found nearby. Very impressive to see almost 2000 year old equipment come to life!

It's a small, but very nice place. The Castellum contains a little museum, a little farm, a theater, a cafe and some fields and gardens. The museum gives an interesting view of the area's history from prehistoric times until now, with a focus on Roman times. You can enter for free and the staff can offer extra information. The cafe offers a good selection of great food with good service. The staff is friendly and service is quick. We didn't check the theater. The farm consists of some small and some big farm animals. The bigger ones weren't there at our visit. As for the smaller ones, they have several animals including rabbits and guinea pigs that you can pet. All in all a good place for an afternoon. And it's a great place to bring little kids.

We stopped here for a bite to eat and to visit this museum that was specifically built for the Roman boat and artefacts that were found in Leidsche Rijn. I really enjoyed the museum and also the lunchroom. The food was very good and the staff were friendly

👍👍 What an amazing venue! We came to watch My Morning Jacket from the UK after watching them in Manchester, a few days earlier. While I do love a bit of the O2 Ritz Manchester, this venue blew it away completely... Great smoking area too! Cheap bar prices and the sound was incredible in the Grote Zaal...

👍👍 Such a unique place. Very beautiful and cozy. You can see how old the place is. I think it was an old church before , you can notice the statues. The staff are so nice.
