My girlfriend and I went for our 5 years anniversary. This was probably one of our best trip ever. - location: the House is part of the elegant hotels chain which you have access to. You re almost walking distance from Tamarind, Crystal cove, Waves so you can wonder around. It s on the west coast area which is more relaxing and luxurious, 30” away from core downtown. The beach is awesome! I have seen reviews saying it s rocky but actually it s only the first 5/10 ft. Once you cross (very easily), you get to a beautiful 20/40ft of sand! Crystal clear water! Bring your snorkeling gear, there are corals on the left hand side of the resort. What I liked about the House is how near the beach is! You hear and see the waves from you room, it was very relaxing - Food: Part of the deal is you get to enjoy all the restaurants of Elegant hotels so it was nice to try different places for dinner. However the House (adult only) and Waves (family) are the high end ones. The house by far was my favorite. - Environment: the House is an adult only so no kids yelling around (thankfully). Very romantic vibes, luxurious, not for single people unless you need to relax and turn your brain off/enjoy the peace. - Staff: that was probably the highlight of the trip. The house’s super team is great, they care about you, and they re hard working individuals putting in 12+ hours shift, 6 days per week in +30 deg temperature with a smile and positive attitude from the first hour till the last hour! I always tip around and I recommend that too, they will remember you of course. The team think outside the box and made any request happen even when we wanted help/suggestion for where to go outside the resort! They helped book us taxis (even when the team member was home/I got few numbers and communicated via WhatsApp), helped booked our dining reservation and more. Always tip! It helps! My girlfriend straightener broke mid way, and one of the staff was nice enough to LEND it to her (10” after we brought the issue to a manager) for the rest of our stay! If I had to ask for a rocket, I bet they would have found a way to get me one lol! Don’t hesitate to ask but also don’t be cheap and don’t tip! Special thanks to: Cherry Ann - coordinator and person talking to us via email Sarah - receptionist who take care of us check in, checkout and planning our activities. Andrew and Ricoh (managers), Denis and shane (bar and outdoor area personnel), Marsha (housekeeping) and many others who were always positive, helpful, caring and organized. Cons: (and these are constructive criticism) 1- we re in Barbados. Morning old school English music was a bit lame but then we gave the remark daily to the managers who agreed with us and put some local music. So that note is for upper management: we re in Barbados, make us feel there. Again props to the team on site, they made us feel in Barbados. 2- the nice upper chairs on the deck were booked all day along. Some people would go at 5:30am and put their towels all day. However, I find my way around very fast and tipped …. to save me my favorite two chairs ha ha ha! You can ado for anything … but tip. 3- the dining experience was great but the tapas or appetizers hours (6/7pm) was short and simple. Some people liked that but I personally was hoping for a bit more. 4- taxis are not cheap. A 5” drive was 20usd! Drive to st Laurence gap (20”, downtown area), was 40usd each way, so be careful it ll rack up fast. Drive to the airport is around 80usd each way. Thankfully the island is small

Room and pool was great, tea time with snacks and tea every afternoon was amazing! Beach was a definitely rocky once inside the water...had to search for a patch of sand to stand on that wasn't rocky every time you got in. Can go for nice walks for a long way on the beach itself though. Perfect spot for sunsets, glad they had beach chairs and umbrellas for guests. Free parking and included a good breakfast. Pricey, but nice hotel!

It's not a bad base for exploring the Barbados island, buffet food is very samey, the al carte is excellent, don't understand the big gulf between the 2 menus, staff are very attentive and polite. Half the activities that's stated on the website are not working, gym, yoga etc- it stated that there was an Italian which wasn't open until the Sunday after we arrived and there is only 1 restaurant, you would expect more choice for the cost of the holiday. We had a trip to another elements owned hotel- turtle beach, there was a lot more facilities and foodaries. We just feel that this hotel is very tired and needs alit of work doing to it. The one advantage of coming to Barbados is that we found other hotels and rental properties that worked out cheaper than using a hotel service. I'm not a negative person and the staff are great but if you paying a lot of money for this type of holiday you need to have better quality. This was a treat for my partner that has a bad year after being diagnosed with cancer and having to major operations and after treatment to remove further cancer, which we felt a bit let down, well done staff👏👏 I almost forgot, towels on the sunbeds, a bit of an issue??

Beautiful boutique hotel right on the beach, with waves crashing almost right up to the terrace. What makes it special is the location, the staff and the guests who stay there. It’s so small you get to know those around you and make it all the more interesting. Yes it’s been taken over by the marriot, yes the service isn’t perfect and yes it’s a little warn in places, but this is Barbados guys. If you want the gourmet food and 5 star service go and pay 5 times the price up the road at Sandy Lane. Ultimately you get what you pay for and given it’s all inclusive you get a hell of a lot. The food isn’t gourmet but it’s still very nice, breakfast are great, the staff on the whole are good and some are great. There’s the odd grumpy sod but it won’t ruin my holiday. Cocktails at any hour, as much food as you can realistically eat, a great compliment bar just off the beach and a nice open breezy restaurant with a beautician ocean view. Sun loungers looking out across the Caribbean, Christ take me back. The whole place has an incredibly relaxing rather magical feel. I suspect it was quite something before Marriot took over and a lot of it is still clearly there. Perhaps not quite as sharp. I’ve heard a refurbishment is in pipeline next year. The rooms probably need it. It wouldn’t take much to make this place incredible. The staff all work incredibly hard to make your stay special. I really appreciated that.

Amazing find. All inclusive boutique beachfront hotel that is part of the Marriott group. Staff are excellent. Food and drink are great too.

My husband and I chose this hotel/resort to celebrate our one year anniversary along with his birthday. After our experience, we wish we had chosen somewhere else for our 10 day trip. Pros: - the weather is beautiful - the beach is clear blue water & the view is gorgeous - the waiting staff/ambassadors are already ready to help Cons: - the beach is filled with rocks and the only spot with soft sand and no rocks is where the watersports are docked - be ready to be judged by two male bartenders. my husband and I skipped breakfast every morning and would come down around 1PM to have lunch and then head to the beach. one day, at around 4PM, a bartender told my husband he was cut off (because he thought we were drinking all morning and afternoon) and had the audacity to call him drunk in front of other guests. another day, another bartender told me i'm an alcoholic, again in front of other guests. i did not come on vacation and spend all this money to be humiliated in front of people. the audacity of these guys was absolutely disgusting. i have been to many all inclusive resorts and have never ever been treated this way. For the money we paid for this all inclusive 10 day trip, we expected a much better experience. I would not recommend this resort/hotel.

Excellent hotel, made special by the staff, in particular Teddy at the bar. Second visit here, very enjoyable, but I preferred the hotel when it was not an all-inclusive hotel. Inevitably some changes were made when the hotel changed to all-inclusive and these are not for the better, in my opinion. Therefore a 4 star, rather than 5 star rating.

Part time job just to check in, masks aren't going to save you they do more harm than good. Suffocate at your own will.

We came in early September, so it was a bit slow as far as tourists (which I enjoyed), the staff is very friendly and helpful. The beach (going into the water) is helpful to have aqua socks for, because just off shore is a reef. The upside is that has a large number of fish that can be seen with a snorkel and mask. Sitting watching the sunset with a rum punch or a Banks is a lovely way to kill the evening.

Just arrived and explored. Great suite. Nice and compacted without being to small.. However main meal Al a carte was dismal from a service prospective, 45.in wait was normal for first course.

the hotel's location is perfect right on the seafront and very well laid out. Everything in the hotel is fine . Yes the rooms are a little dated BUT you have a beautiful view of the Caribbean sea , everything works, the bathrooms are very spacious and you have a huge king bed and a quiet air conditioning unit. The staff are very friendly and do their best. The food is very nice and the restaurants are very pleasant. The reason you find some negative reviews is that this is really a 4-star hotel and Marriot are raising unrealistic expectations by still trying to position this great boutique hotel as a 5 Star establishment.

The staff was great and very professional seemed like family almost. Wade, Andrew, Teddy, Shane, Ebony, Joan and Donna were all A+ and seemed very genuine. Location is literally on the beach and there are plenty of complimentary water sports to do. The rooms stayed clean and they kept you informed on anything you needed to know

First time to Barbados for an anniversary. The beach is rocky. Service here is hit and miss. They do attend to cleaning the rooms timely. Dining times are scheduled but they are rarely followed. You can sit for hours before you receive your food. Had a scheduled spa time, but they did not keep it, which seems to be the mantra here. Being a Marriott property I expected better.

Beautiful, small resort. Great for people who don't like crowds (like me). It's on the beach, has a pool right there as well, a pool bar, several dining choices, and a very attentive staff who clearly want you to enjoy your stay! Lovely room (I heard they're going to remodel or update in a couple months)... and it's in Barbados! What more could you want??😊😊

A massive thank you to Riah King at The Spa for outstanding customer service and amazing massages. Riah went above & beyond for us today. My husband and I had lovely relaxing massages and felt truly pampered. Riah does an amazing job. Thank you Riah 💕

Just come back from 10 nights here and had the most wonderful time. The staff are all a credit to the resort and are all super friendly and can't do enough for you. If they can't sort it, they'll find someone who can. The food and drink selection was 5 star with buffet and a la carte options on different days. The beach and pool were great for relaxing but waters ports are on offer for those feeling a bit more adventurous. Myself and my wife went out on tubes behind a boat and had a brilliant time. If your looking at going to Barbados and stuck about where to stay, look no further.

Had a fantastic stay, amazing staff, few names to mention, Shane, Teddy, Andrew, Kwesi and Wade. I'm terrible when it comes to names, so apologies to the remaining staff. You are all a lovely group. Nothing was a hassle. Our only slight issue was the wine, not our favourite brand, but that's us being picky. What a fantastic location, leaving the room doors open at night was the best sound track from thoses amazing waves. The food was exceptional good, all in we had a lovely memorable time.

This was our second time to Barbados at the House. They’ve always been very accommodating. Shane, one of the employees is the best and has made our experience top notch both times we’ve been here. He is very attentive and goes above and beyond to make your experience here at the House enjoyable as possible. All the employees should mimic his service. The hotel needs some updates (e.g. their beach chair cushions) however staff said they are aware and are waiting for shipments to come in. The beach front is beautiful.

Every single staff member is accommodating, friendly, hospitable. They make you feel welcomed especially Andrew ( what an awesome guy). Even panda ( the cat) does a great job of keeping the birds at bay. I will definitely come again and recommend this hotel to others.

This review is for the Customer Service of The House / Marriott.. as I was informed by The House staff that my reservation would have to be "relocated" due to renovations going on at the resort. I had my honeymoon trip booked for a couple months already when I received an e-mail informing me that the hotel will be under renovations during my stay. The problem came in when they told me, I would be relocated to a sister resort, which is not adults-only, is in a completely different location on the island, and is not all-inclusive. But they could put me in a comparable room. I was told that since the sister resort is not All-inclusive, they would have an "All inclusive concept" with a "Fixed Menu, but Supplemental Charges" for other food and drink items. Obviously this is very different than what I had originally paid for.. so I had questions on what we would and wouldn't be charged for. I replied immediately and explained that I booked a honeymoon vacation that was adults-only, and all-inclusive.. so I requested more details on how this sister-resort would compare to The House, and if we would be reimbursed for any amenities that we would not be receiving. I also explained that we already had our flights booked, as well as numerous reservations for activities on the island such as Fishing and a Rum tour.. so getting the hotel/accommodations figured out is critical for us at this point. To make a long story short, well over a full week went by and I did not hear from anyone at The House or Marriott. I e-mailed 3 to 4 separate times - including CC'ing the 4 other Marriott employees that were on the original e-mail chain. I called the hotel, as well as Marriott corporate. Not a single person has gotten back to me - still, to this day. They essentially relocated my honeymoon vacation, and then disappeared when I wanted some simple questions answered. Since I needed answers regarding a place to stay during our trip and not a single person would reply to me, I cancelled our stay here altogether via the Marriott app and booked a stay at a different nearby resort that picked up the phone. I am very disappointed as I have been a Marriott customer for years and have spent tens of thousands of dollars on business and personal trips with them. I could not get a single person to answer my questions, my e-mails or my calls. Customer service has literally been non-existent. I am sorry to say that I will look elsewhere when booking travel accommodations in the future. I'm sure the hotel will be lovely after the renovations! Maybe others will have better luck with customer service..
