We met many people who go back to this resort year after year and I can't figure out why. Even the staff refer to the standard rooms as "the dungeons" or, when being candid, "s**t holes." The food was atrocious. By the end of the week we, and many of the other guests we met, were fantasizing about food and what we were going to eat when we got home. Also, be very, very careful if you have food allergies - cross contamination is rampant. No vegetarian or vegan options. And there seems to be zero hygiene standards. Beach was lovely. Weather was good when we were there. Cockroaches and rats in the rooms.

A guest turned in my wallet to the bartender and the bartender denied having it. He knew what was in it but said someone else took it from behind the bar. Also they had no rum vodka or gin until day 4 only “whisky” but it was the worst whisky I’ve ever had and it tasted much closer to rubbing alcohol

If you don't care about the room or the food, and love a beautiful beach, this is an awesome destination. The grounds are pretty. The AC in our room worked well. But that's where the positives stop. The food is bland and unattractive (even for a buffet). The beds are uncomfortable and old. The staff are helpful when they are in a good mood.

We travelled Jan 24th- Jan 31st, 2023 from Toronto, Canada and paid $685 each. The check in was smooth as it was only ourselves and one other couple checking in. The desk clerks were pleasant and efficient. We were offered a nice welcoming drink. We stayed in room 8211. We booked a Garden-view room but we were upgraded for FREE into a Villa with an Oceanview!! The room had 2 beds, desk, luggage rack,TV,  3 chairs, small table and 2 end tables. The bed linen was clean and there were no bed bugs. It had a safe but it was broken. It also had a fridge but it was never stocked with anything The bathroom always had hot water. There was complimentary shampoo, lotion and bar soap. The bathroom had a hair blow dryer too. The door lock is controlled by a key card that scans over the door light but ours wasn’t working properly. There are 2 snack bars, 1 bar, 1 buffet, 2 a La carte restaurants and a coffee cafe open on this resort. One snack bar  is open 24 hrs and the other is only open until 1045. The snack bars have NO menu and there is minimal choices It’s either a ham and cheese sandwich, pizza, French fries & banana chips. Much of the staff speak very limited English, they speak Spanish so basic communication is very challenging on this resort. There was one restaurant called Benny More but it was ONLY for the Sunwing elite guests. On our last day we did discover that a BBQ pig roast was going on. The buffet has 90% the SAME food for every single meal. The buffet food is OK and you won’t go hungry. The coffee cafe called “Ashley Coffee Bar Cafe” has awesome coffee/espresso/ice coffee. The one and only bar has a large drink list but they have barely any of the ingredients so when you ask for any of the drinks on the list, they look around the bar and don’t have the proper ingredients to make any of the drinks so your choice is only beer, rum & coke or lemonade/ juice. That was really disappointing. There was an entertainment schedule located on a wall near the front desk. The entertainment was terrible. It ranged from a Cuban woman singing in Spanish to a “disco”which was guests dancing on their own. It was the worst entertainment I’ve experienced in Cuba 0/5. Others things to do was darts, a ping pong, volleyball and Pool billiards. There was also a gym (open:0700-1500). The tennis court and mini golf areas were over grown with weeds and I never saw anyone playing. You could also rent a bicycle for free. Staff/clientele: as stated above, many of the staff only spoke Spanish. Communication was difficult as we only speak English. Most of the guests appeared to not speak English and were Spanish, French or Polish speaking. The guests were MANY seniors. The beach at this resort is apparently public so there were locals there. Beach: there are 3 areas of beach on this resort. They are all quite small beach areas. The very first day we were on the beach in a beach chair, it was 1630 and we were unaware that the guy closes the beach for the day. Literally at 1630, the worker guy walks up to us and says “TIME’S UP, TIME TO GO” and took the beach chair from under us?! WE LITERALLY HAD TO STAND UP FROM OUR BEACH CHAIR AS HE DRAGGED IT AWAY FROM US” ?! This indeed did happen again the next day with a different worker, we were told the chair service is “over at 4 pm” and the guy literally had us stand up from our beach chair and he dragged it away from us! Overall, this is a 2.5 star resort and it feels like a 2.5 star. There were some good things about it but many negative things. Unless you have very low standards and don’t care about repetitive, boring food, no drink list to choose from and no decent entertainment- then this is a place for you. We would never stay here again and DO NOT RECOMMEND.

Situated on Guardalavaca Beach , Club Amigo Atlantico is an older resort that is in need of rejuvenation. Two of its four sections were closed for repairs . The staff is wonderful and hard working. They keep the grounds beautiful and clean. The food very repetitive and not very much meat and fruits. That being said, the location is amazing. The beach is beautiful with white sand and clear turquoise water. The rooms are basic but comfortable and kept clean. We can't complain for the price we paid. This was our third time at this resort and we will return.

My wife and I spent our honey moon there, and it was fantastic. People were extremely nice and service was great, even in the middle of this coronavirus outbreak. Excellent conditions considering it is a 3 stars hotel!

Worst run hotel we've seen in Cuba. Yes the hotel is old but that's not the problem. The management is terrible: every process, every decision of management is strange, irrational and causing guests to suffer. For example: the breakfast is from 7 to 09:30, but they don't let you in to food hall just like that, you have to queue up around 9 and wait for the staff to clean the tables - which doesn't happen fast enough because one or two of them is just holding the door closed :) The same issue for the lunch: queuing up in front of the door, not because there are too many people taking food, not because there is not enough food, not because there are no free tables!! Only because staff is busy holding the door instead of cleaning the tables. Why not to let people in and sit at dirty tables, while they are taking food you would be cleaning the tables anyways. Food is not great in any hotel in Cuba in general but they give shrimps and good chicken, so no complaints.

This resort has much to offer. I was here back in 2015. A good all-inclusive buffet for mornings and evenings, three restaurants that you have to pay for and all-inclusive fast food joint for late night. The Cuban people are extremely nice, there are always activities going on and there's much to do like tennis, mini-golf, ping-pong and things of the sort. There's some other stuff like massotheraphy and games all around, there was a fully functional giant chess board by the check-in! Overall no complaints at all and the view is extremely pleasant.

Since the moment we got there , we could enjoyed how beautiful is the hotel , the people at the door is so friendly, also the people in the front desk is so professional, who gave us an upgrade room with beach and pool view , all the facilities are so clean . The buffet is not the best but we can’t complain when we have free drink and free food all the time . The rooms are clean and the Housekeepers are very helpful, the people at the bars are always ready to give you the best drinks and good coffees. Note do not drink the coffee at the buffet because is very bad , the beach is so beautiful and clean and the water are so fun and the beach attendants are very nice . Btw do not forget to go to the street party which takes place every Saturday night from 9 pm till 2 am . I would come back

Beautiful location for a hotel. Tropical section was nice, rooms a little rundown but the view was amazing and right near the pool and beach. Buffets were mostly edible at best. Service from some staff was amazing. Front desk staff are rude and unhelpful.

Awful place and service on a beautiful beach; it looks and feels old and musty which is a typical scene for most hotels in Cuba (but for this specific hotel it's even worst). avoid this like the plague and you will thank me later

Sehr schönes Hotel und sehr freundliches Personal. Bier immer vorhanden.
