Hanna is a great host, welcoming and very accommodating from the moment we came in. We needed to do some work and she immediately gave us wifi without asking, and even offered to put the heating up (as its a cold winter day!) The derek tibs was great, which is what we ordered, along with the Ethiopian salad. I enjoyed the music selection, which was from all the different tribes of Ethiopia. There is also a very large TV, I'm sure upon request will accommodate you. We also ordered from the bar, great service. Definitely coming again with!

Dive deep into the Ethiopian culture and life style which means even eating with your hands, a reminder of how lucky we can be and how unlucky others can be. Taste all the amazing spices and flavors of a culture. The Chef Anna cooked everything with love and smile! Also roasted for us fresh coffee beans and made traditional ritual to serve the fresh coffee with popcorns. Typical music on tv, the food and the service crated a magical atmosphere. Definitely recommend to go and try. Embrace the culture!

This place is a little hidden gem. Food is 10/10, the owner very welcoming and attentive. We had the vegetarian platter, plenty of food for 2, and I recommend you get the Ethiopian coffee :) ps yes there is a big tv playing as mentioned in a review before. But I enjoyed watching the videos of Ethiopian bands!

Had a wonderful time at Agelgil with a group of friends - we ordered the special and it was full of such incredible flavours and we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves :) coffee was great too!!!!

The food is amazing, this is my first time trying Ethiopian food and I’m blown away by the variety of tastes, feeling my whole senses open up The portion is big, we took away the leftover because don’t want waste such wonderful food The music is good as well, I discovered an Ethiopian singer by Shazam The waitress is very chill, I don’t feel rushed to finish or pay bill but rather feel like dining at a family place Will definitely come back, cannot wait to try other dishes and the coffee

First time trying Ethiopian food, and a fantastic introduction. Staff are friendly and welcoming, and the food is delicious and great value for money. Many vegetarian/vegan options, and injera is gluten free so I could eat happily here! The dishes are rich in flavour and perfect on a wet miserable day. It is a bit of a wait for the food, but definitely worth it.

Held a private function in this venue and they were amazing. Food was delicious and they were so accommodating, made us feel at home, they couldn’t do enough. Everyone thoroughly enjoyed the christening and will definitely be coming back for the yummy food.

Cute little Ethiopian spot in Barnsbury! Made a res for 4 and there were a few others in the restaurant and I can see why! The waitress was so cute and friendly, and the food was absolutely incredible. For anyone who hasn’t had Ethiopian this is the place to try. Huge portions and such a good price!

Absolutely incredible food and even more incredible service. We shared a delectable vegetarian platter which was enormous leading to some insane value. We asked about our favourite dish and the staff came over and gave us extra as we had said how much we liked it. Wish I could give 10 stars, simply sensational!

First time trying Ethiopian cuisine, went here clearly because of the reviews. Small place and area doesn’t look very welcoming but let that not fool you as authentic feel, family atmosphere and definitely home made food which was delicious and very friendly staff are 10/10. Very recommended, don’t forget to order spiced tea after food Thank you, will be back one day.

Very welcoming and authentic family-vibes restaurant. We got a mix of everything and loved how it was served in this huge basket on sourdough. You eat with your hands and the food is spicy and flavourful. Plenty of it too. The service was also really lovely and warm. The ambiance felt welcoming. Would recommend for an exotic date or an experience with friends or family.
