My 10 year old son is getting open water certified. With severe dyslexia and dysgraphia, we knew there would need to be some accommodations for him to be successful, but also confident that he would be able to do it. A-1 made the necessary accommodations so that reading/writing difficulties weren’t a barrier to this incredible sport. Additionally, Serene and Todd, his instructors, were two of the best educators I’ve ever encountered. Separately, they are absolutely incredible. Together, they are exceptional. Their knowledge, skill, and demeanor with a new diver (a nervous kiddo to boot) was phenomenal. As an educator myself, watching them teach was inspiring. Their patience, celebration of success, and methodology of circling back to a skill until mastered was fantastic. Thank you so much for this experience!

I only found this shop after i had researched and booked and bought a bunch of stuff and THEN signed up for a certification class here. Honestly, i wish i started here. Everyone I’ve interacted with at both the retail shop upstairs and the instructors are top notch. Everyone is incredibly knowledgeable, friendly, and overall super welcoming. As far as the dive pool goes, they’ve also got fun pool toys, great equipment well taken care of and a current simulator that sets them apart from other shops in the Denver area. Cannot recommend this place enough! A-1 is A+ 🎉

Great dive shop. This is where I went to get my open water certification. All of my instructors were nice, knowledgeable and patient. Everything from the on site pool to the retail area is great, staff is great and mostly it was the coolest experience diving at the aquarium. Totally worth it. I will continue my education and training through A1 and plan to look into they're dive trips. Highly recommend!

Austin was very knowledgeable and helpful when buying our first BCD and regulator. He even said it comes with a pool visit, so we make sure it's the right fit. We never felt rushed or dumb by asking novice questions. We felt like we were buying from a friend's dive shop. Highly recommended.

Cannot thank Jeff and Rita enough for giving the best scuba diving lessons! Also, I want to thank Jerry for a fun aquarium dive! Also, wanted to thank Thomas for the chatfield open water dive! I took a scuba class this weekend at A1 Scuba. The whole experience was amazing. The instructors, Tom and Kevin, where great and made the class really exciting. I highly recommend A1 Scuba to anyone thinking about getting into diving.

Shane helped me out with a faulty tank I had got online. He did an awesome job and was super friendly the whole time. Dom has super helpful too along with the guys in the storefront who answered some key questions for me. Awesome place!

Absolutely 5-star experience getting scuba certified with Justin and Jason at A1 this past weekend. They were so knowledgeable, helpful, and professional throughout the 3-day course that we feel so prepared to do our open water dives to get fully open water certified in a couple of weeks abroad. Highly recommend using A1 for any of your certifications, courses, and even scuba trips which we just learned about. Thank you Justin and Jason for making our weekend so great! You guys rock!

We just got certified for open water in Hawaii, but got our lessons here at A1. I actually took lessons almost 7 years ago at Denver Divers because i wanted to learn scuba, but the experience there left me with a bit of a salty taste (instructors were kind of douchey even with beginners) and i never went to get my open water cert as a result. When the opportunity came along this time, i decided to enroll at A1 with my partner (and relearn everything) so that we’d learn together. Right off the bat, Chris and Jeff were some of the nicest and most patient instructors I’ve ever met. They took the time to go over didactics and then spent even more time with students in the indoor pool. The pool wasn’t as big as the one in Denver Divers but the experience far surpassed my previous one. It was all very laid-back and encouraging. Even though my partner was super nervous as she wasn’t the strongest swimmer and had trouble clearing her mask, they took extra time to practice with her. Chris was a very patient teacher, while Jeff cracked jokes teasing us from time to time all in good fun. Jeff was very encouraging and gave both my partner and i pep talks on what to expect and how to improve. He also said to mention in this review that he was the rockstar and not Chris. :). Give these guys a try, just be open-minded and don’t get discouraged. Scuba is actually pretty technical and easily overwhelming with skills in a 3 -half days course, but the team made it happen for us. Not to mention the shop upstairs had great gear for us to purchase. Thanks again to A1 for helping us check off our bucket list!

Serene, Todd, Ryan, and Kevin were my instructors over the course of the program. All of which were extremely helpful and encouraging throughout the weekend. I cannot wait to come back to do my open waters with A1!

Willing to change this as I’ve had great experiences but wow the phone call today was not pleasant. I was trying to help them out by clarifying some misdirected and incorrect emails and I was dealt with extremely curtly as if it was my fault. Not cool….update: Got a call from the owner after lots of effort tracking me down. Was very sincere and helpful. All good now.

I finished my pool and classroom training for my open water certification with A-1, and I couldn't have asked for a better experience! Such a fun and enthusiastic group of folks - both on the educational and retail side. Myka and Nicole made me excited to come to class each night, and I felt so confident going into my open dives after learning with these two. Highly recommend and I can't wait to take more classes with this center!

Did my open water certification with A1. I did the weekend plus, which was the pool/classroom plus open water dives 1&2 at the aquarium, then did open water 3&4 with them at Chatfield. Very professional and friendly staff. Felt extremely prepared for my first “real” dive after certifying with them. Would recommend them to anyone interested in getting their certifications. Absolutely going to use them when I go for my specialty courses!

Just had a kids birthday there today and was super impressed. The instructor was incredibly patient, managed a bunch of younger kids (9 year olds) and did so with grace and fun. My child was the kid struggling, and he made it fun for even her. You don’t see this kind of person often. Thanks.

Brett assisted me in the purchase of mask, fins, and snorkel set and various other needs for a trip I am about to go on. He was very friendly, knowledgeable and never tried to over sell me. He also informed me of all the various dive classes and guided trips they offer. Very nice experience.

A-1 Scuba is a top notch shop!! I have taken one other course years ago from A-1 but most recently I completed the DAN BASIC LIF SUPPORT: CPR, FIRST AID, and OXYGEN PROVIDER COURSE. The instructors Leila & Myka were wonderful! I was lucky enough to be partnered with an A-1 assistant instructor Eric who was taking the course for recert who was extremly knowledable and kept us all laughing throughout the interactive exercises. I had not realized the amount of time the reading would take and the instructor, Leila continued to follow up with all of us to ensure we were ready and prepared for the course later that week which in my opinion was above an beyond as an instructor - so sincerely appreciated as two of us would not have been ready! I also took the DIVER STRESS AND RESCUE COURSE in which the instructor Mackenzie was fun yet very focused and dedicated to ensuring each of us in the course became competent and knowledeable before moving on - no hesitation to provide additional instruction and request the individual redemonstrate with corrections to ensure competency was demonstrated. It was a long day but added so much skill that I will be recommending this course moving forward - no fluff in this course! If you are at all hesitating taking a course through this shop - don't - register and enjoy a very fun experience where you feel competent and knowledable upon completion! Thank you A-1 Scuba for being in a land locked state where you add so much to the diving community!!

A1 went above and beyond for my BCD service. I have an aqualung axiom i3. After having previous issues with others on the rear dump valve, mine was the tipping point. They decided to reach out to aqualung for answers. After getting the ok they sent it off for service. All in was about 3 weeks but service didn't stop there. They held it for another week, testing and rechecking everything to make sure it was 100% ready. To help understand what was happening and how to fix or prevent this going forward theybactually cut apart one of their own BCDs to diagnose the issue from the inside. Keep in mind A1 is in Colorado, I live in central Minnesota. They've relayed through my brother to get information and for pick up and drop off as well as to go over what they find and why. Anyplace else may have just sent me out the door or charged a ton for all the additional service, they didn't. They used my issue to help learn and give a confident and knowledgeable summary of service to me. It may be over 650 miles away, but if I can get my gear there, I'll keep coming back.

The staff at A 1 was very helpful. They went above and beyond. I have made the trip from Colorado Springs several times. I continue to drive up there for services or equipment that I need.

I choose to use this for shark diving at the aquarium and money well spent!!! My sister, friend, and myself had an absolute blast in and out of the cage. The staff was very friendly, enthusiastic, and comforting when I did have an issue (my very first experience anything scuba or snorkeling related). I will recommend this to everyone I chat with for the next few months! Thank you so very much!

We got certified at the aquarium and we're guided by MacKenzie and Rafal. They were the coolest and best instructors I could've asked for. We already signed up for our ecological diver specialties (hopefully with Rafal) lol

This store was absolutely inflexible regarding a cancelled class. They were unwilling to reschedule, or provide a credit for one seat in a group course that we did not attend. They were not willing to work with us in any way to refund, provide a credit, or even reschedule for a class at a later date. They were unwilling to even discuss options. I do NOT recommend this company.

I needed a prescription mask for diving and snorkeling. I was expecting a 3-4 week wait for the lens to be sent out and returned. A-1 Scuba has a line of masks that are drop in lens compatible. Austin Murphy helped me. He looked at my recent prescription. He had one lens that was exact and one that was really close. I picked the color mask I wanted. Austin went in the back and changed the lenses. The whole process took less than 10 minutes. My vision with the mask is the same as with my glasses. The price was very reasonable. I even got a discount for having taken a refresher class with them. I am really looking forward to my next dive trip. Austin and A-1 Scuba rate 5 stars all the way. I will not hesitate to go back to them.
