Despite what the name implies, this is not a gay bar. It's a hard metal rock bar. Inside there is a dimmed light atmosphere with lots of old memorabilia. There are dinning tables along with a bar. Outside, there is another bar on the patio where smoking is allowed. They do have decent happy hour specials with discounts off food and drinks. The food is pretty good (and better than what I expected). I would classify this bar as more of a divey bar that sticks out in what otherwise is the posh Beverly hills and west Hollywood area. I did not feel that this was a family friendly establishment. Note that the bathrooms are up a flight of stairs. I did not see any elevator. Service was quite inattentive and I felt the bartender prioritized regulars over other patrons.

On my bucket list was to visit the famous rainbow bar and grill which I've now done. Amazing place steeped in years of rock n roll history. Great atmosphere and the chicken burger and fries were delicious

This place definitely holds a special place in my heart. Unfortunately, time has passed this place by. We have visited a few times over the last few years, and the service has just not been good on any of those visits. On the last visit, we were seated inside and after 20 minutes of sitting at our table watching our server ring up t-shirts for tourists since she had no other help we left. It's sad to see all the decor that makes this place so special sitting dimly lit and nobody getting to see it. It just seems like they want everyone to sit outside at the bar tops. If you are planning a visit to WeHo, stop by and get a t-shirt while you can. Rest in peace Mario 🙏

Avery is fantastic. Ask for her for a great experience. The chicken soup was really good. The clam chowder was good and the pizza was off the hook. Really nice vibe. I went at 2 pm so there was no one there. Had the place all to myself. Apparently there is a lot going on at night. If u want a lot of action and a live band go in the PM.

A true piece of rock and roll history! The food was amazing. The staff had cool stories and the walls speak for themselves. A definitely must see if visiting the area. You won't be disappointed you did so!!

To be honest, I am not a fan for rock music, so I am just sharing my experience based on food and restaurant only. Food - Really good food! They serve fried chicken 🍗. Large portion but expensive. No variety of draft beer selection. Restaurant - Rock band classic. Nice people. No free parking.

What is there to say about the Rainbow Bar & Grill that you haven't already heard of! The food is great, love their pizza and fried mozzarella! Great service, great drinks, great food! Parking sucks, but that's West Hollywood for ya. It's iconic for a reason, stop by for drinks and stay for the stories.

Take a walk through your memories.. There is a little hidden parking area to the right of the restaurant (shares with a club). Dine inside or outside on the patio! Temperatures were checked when I went and masks were worn to tables/restrooms. There is so much cool $h!t to look at you hardly realize how long you have to wait for food and drinks to be delivered or to buy memorabilia at the register. The staff was very friendly and definitely made the stay fun. The front register seemed very chaotic, between all the waitress/waiters coming to run payment, people waiting to check in, or those waiting to buy merchandise. The front register was probably the worst place...great photos and awesome fishtank to see while you wait. Worth a visit, you never know who you'll run into. 😉🤘

Great place to share! Rock music selection is good, the decoration is just amazing. Is almost a landmark in this city. All the waitresses are very kind and fun. We had a great time! We ate peperoni pizza (is big) and cheese burger with spicy fries! The best Beer (angel city) 👍🏻

Went here by request. The place is actually not bad. Lots of history in the building from the Rock & Roll era. Guitar collections were on the display & other music instruments including photos in memory of all the artists. I don’t know much about the history of the music but I love the atmosphere. It makes you feel like you’re in another world. Servers were very friendly & helpful. Their homestyle chips is the Best! We only came for snacks & drinks so we can’t say much about the foods. If you’re a fan of Lemmy, he has his own lounge just outside at the entrance. His statue & his remains apparently are there for all of his fan who come visit.

Simply and amazing experience! It’s not just a “place”. It’s an experience you need to have if you are into local culture, music, and just like to have fun! The staff is friendly, the food is great, and the entertainment is epic! We attended the 51st anniversary event and we will definitely go every year. It’s a must do when visiting Hollywood or exploring Sunset BLVD.

Legend! Every Metalhead has to go there it‘s so amazing and full of Rock ‚N‘ Roll history! They even got a Lemmy Corner. You find a lot of pictures and everything. And the food portion is huge. If you hungry you get a lot!! The stuff is very friendly as well! I totally love it! Will go back for sure!

If you love everything 80s rock and roll... the sunset is a bucket list destination in of itself. The food is expensive for what it is-but I really enjoyed the atmosphere. After dining we went to the whiskey to see tantric and it was the full 80s experience!

Very cool restaurant/bar. Plenty of seating both inside and outside on their patio. The patio has fireplaces and lanterns to keep warm. I went on a Thursday night and there was a live band playing upstairs. I only got drinks but the food that was coming out looked good and their food menu is extensive. They also have Keno!

Here is my assessment of this establishment. The ambiance of this location is quite impressive, and its rich history, having hosted numerous renowned musicians, adds to its allure. The cleanliness of the establishment is commendable, and the comfortable booths and friendly staff contribute to a pleasant dining experience. However, the parking situation is rather cramped and the parking fee of $20 seems excessive, making it more practical to park elsewhere. Regarding the food, I must admit that I had modest expectations, but I was pleasantly surprised by the quality and taste of the dishes. We sampled a variety of items, and each one exceeded our expectations. However, it must be noted that the prices are quite high, with the lasagna costing over $30 for a small portion, albeit accompanied by a side of clam chowder or house salad. The burgers are also priced above $20, but they are indeed delicious. In conclusion, I would recommend this establishment to my associates for a memorable dining experience steeped in history. However, it is essential to be prepared for the relatively high prices.

The nachos turned out to be a bit oily and the salsa lacked flavor. However, the rest of our order - a large half cheese, half rainbow style pizza, and two Ballast Point beers - satisfied our party of three. This place really shines with its atmosphere; just look around and you'll feel immersed in the legendary memories that surround you.

I'm a big rock and heavy metal fan and instantly fell in love with this place. The music, the pics of some of my favorite artists, Lemmy's Lounge. I definitely recommend their pizzas 🍕 and The Hollywood Sunset 🥃 I'll definitely be back one day. 🍻🤟🏽🎸

I came here and it was one of the best days of my life; I'm a big fan of Led Zeppelin and all classic rock in general, so it was really fun! I really liked the waitress because she was very kind and fun; she even had me sit where Led Zeppelin used to sit and told me about the times when they'd come to the Rainbow. I felt like a kid in a candy store! I had a chocolate milkshake with burgers and fries and they were all delicious. I bought some Rainbow merchandise at the end of my visit, and the waitress even played Led Zeppelin on the speakers! It was so fun; that was my first time I went to LA, and now I know that every time I come back to Los Angeles I'm coming here!

I had no idea what to expect so I just went along and asked the staff what it was all about. They explained that it was a "living museum" and encouraged me to walk around and check it all out. They have a lot of memorabilia in the front restaurant plus a Lemmy from Motorhead bar which even had a statue of him! There was a "vampire bar" which had a DJ playing Latino music. That bar was pretty dead and a bit trashy. The staff were friendly, but drinks were expensive!

One of the worst bars we’ve been too. We decided to go there after Halloween night and it was terrible… There’s too much of everything but in negative sense. Don’t wait to have good drinks - you’ll get Jack Daniel’s with mostly coke and ice, we barely could feel any alcohol. Bloody Mary was too salty. Looks like they just took it from fries because they didn’t have salt at all. Food is horrible there, really oily and plain. They don’t provide any sauce. Burger with dry meat and no sauce as well. Service was slow Can recommend only avoiding this place, it’s overrated

Love love love the atmosphere like nowhere else!! I ordered fried calamari (was the best). Im from the 80’s all legends, bands, musicians, actors, and actress from that time and earlier been here. For the latest generation must need to see it’s like a little music historic place with food and drink Menu simple, very good, and price is also great.

This is only my 3rd time here since moving to CA, but it already feels like home. The atmosphere is relaxed and inviting. The barstaff are attentive and quick. We had the calamari appetizer brought to our little table right by Lemmy's statue. It's cozy and the crowd is generally really nice. When I was paying attention, they played Slayer, Maiden and Ozzy. If you're into NWOBHM and thrash, you'll feel right at home.

So if you're going to this place for the value of going to a place where a rockstar hung out. This is definitely top notch. It's old but it's very cool. The outside bar is where you can sit exactly where Lemmy from Motorhead sat. That's cool enough.

Its The Rainbow. If you like rock music then it's an absolute must visit. Iconic joint, first visit was 1990, three decades later it's still home. Oh yeah, we are lunch. Chili was great and I had bacon cheeseburger that was great, too. Great selection of beer, just a must go to place.

The best and arguably the most infamous bar in Hollywood. Takes me back to my youth and late nights after seeing my favorite bands. Anyway, great spot to hang a have a few drinks. Staff is great, drinks more than fair and food can be pretty good, but didn’t eat this time around.

Probably the most iconic rock and roll bar in the world. You'll love the atmosphere and if it's not crowded you need to walk around and look at the memorabilia all over the place. Definitely a history of rock music all over the walls and ceiling

It was awesome to finally be able to see the rainbow and enjoy a few drinks. Our Utes didn’t win the rose bowl over those pesky Buckeyes, but it was a great time overall.

Given the history of the place it was must for my visit. "Lemmy's Lounge" was a cool spot to hang out and the bartenders were friendly. Drinks were a bit expensive but it's California 🤷‍♀️ I was really disappointed with the small basic salad I got when I ordered a Greek salad. It was $11 and literally a side salad. Fortunately my friend ordered wings and French fries which were both great so I got some more food. I dug the vibe and the history...just avoid ordering the salad thinking it's a meal.

Good food and staff. Rock and Roll history! Even saw a Blackboard Jungle (band) poster which was unexpected, and brought back great memories.

Best pizza I ever had!! You know that cheese pizza on Home Alone? It's exactly like that! Also, the server escorted me to a safe spot after being followed by a stranger after a show at the Whisky. They make sure you are taken care of. The security and servers were on top of the situation. Drinks and food were perfect! This place is legendary as it is but their staff lives up to their reputation as being bad a**!

The Rainbow became a hangout for rock musicians and their groupies during the 1970s. Notable regulars during this period include Alice Cooper, Keith Moon, Micky Dolenz, Ringo Star, John Lennon, and Harry Nillson. We have so much fun visiting this place, the vibes, the music, the people, the drinks, the food… everything was amazing

  • 4/5 Joseph F. 1 year ago on Google
A blunt way to put it , this is a way more authentic version of a hard rock restaurant. Not only offering a lot more history within the actual walls of the bar and grill , they house a ton of merchandise, photos , and memorabilia of all the celebrities whom they have had the pleasure of serving . The service was fantastic, along with the food ! The drinks were strong and not too pricey. The atmosphere of the establishment was great , you have classic rock tunes playing with the proper lighting and full immersion in the local history of the areas celebrities and culture .

I'm pretty sure I might be the only one to lead with this - but the grilled cheese w/ bacon and fries is above average. Considering the number of late nights (and painful next morning's) I've had at Rainbow - there's no better people watching / relaxed vibe than an afternoon cocktail and lunch on the patio. Sometimes you're just watching the world go by, and bam - Ben Stein comes in to pick-up a pizza, or back in the day - Lemmy would walk by you on the way to the washroom when taking a break from the video lottery terminal. A day or night here is necessary for any fan of rock and roll. But seriously... that grilled cheese, though.
