This is a really great hotel, which I booked in order to be able to visit the Magic Castle next door. The staff were super warm and helpful throughout my stay. When I arrived at 9:30am from an awful overnight flight, they offered me breakfast, stored my luggage (and later delivered it to my room), and let me check in more than 3 hours early. I'm pretty sure they also upgraded my room - I booked a queen room, and I was given a massive one bedroom apartment. The apartment was quiet and had a leafy outlook. They did my washing with a super quick turnaround, even though I was only staying one night. They also let me have a late check out. I haven't even mentioned all the snacks - my favourite was the soft serve machine, with surprisingly delicious chocolate ice cream. My room had everything I needed for a very comfortable stay, and was very clean. The hotel itself has the vibe of a 50s motel. I'd say the only cons for me were that the bed was pretty soft, and that there's a few stairs (and no lift, that I could see) to access reception/the rooms/different parts of the hotel (which only bothered me because of a knee injury). LA is a fairly expensive city to stay in, so I'd say that although I found this hotel to be quite expensive, it represents great value. I thought it was going to be geared more towards kids, but I mainly only saw adults! Thanks for such a great stay.

Really amazing hotel. Staff are super friendly and they have so many free things!!! Soda, popsicles, ice cream, any candy imaginable. 24/7 pool as well. I am quite shocked about how great the customer service is actually; it's beyond anything I've ever experienced at other hotels. We wanted to go to the Magic Castle, so we booked a room here less than a week prior and emailed the front desk about how we reserve the magic castle. The staff quickly responded telling us about the dress code and let us know they would try to book us a spot for that night. A few hours later we received the info and booking confirmation. Super easy :) Also a great hotel to stay at if wanting to see Hollywood and traveling with kids - right next to everything. Safe, underground parking for cars.

This place is lovely. The building is old so don't expect any modern decor, mid century charm abounds. It has the feel of a 1940's writers retreat. Bukowski or Hemingway probably frequented this type of place. Great location, walking distance from all the central Hollywood tourist traps. The room is actually a former one room apartment, very spacious! We had an excellent stay. There is a secure parking garage below the building. Free snacks and ice cream machine! The pool is very well maintained (I'm picky about this) and warm. The mattress is nothing to write home about but it didn't hurt my old body, so that's a plus. Stay here, seriously. Worth every penny!

Fantastic place to stay, especially for families! Service is excellent, rooms are very clean and spacious, the beds are very comfortable. We had a minivan and the parking was possible but a little tricky with tight spaces. If you have a vehicle larger than a minivan, don't plan on parking in the hotel garage. Otherwise, this place is totally perfect. Free laundry service- yes please! Definitely take advantage of being able to visit the magic castle if time allows. It's a wonderful experience.

We chose this hotel based solely on the Popsicle Hotline advertisement! The staff was FANTASTIC! Extremely friendly team, continental breakfast, housekeeping daily and all of the extras (all you can eat full size snacks, a soft serve ice cream machine to enjoy whenever you wanted and a freestyle soda machine) were what made this stay worth it. Pool was heated and good size. Parking was a bit clunky to access but worked. The rooms were spacious but in desperate need of repair/updating. We had a suite with two double beds in the bedroom and a pull-out couch. The beds were comfortable, but the surfaces were all dated and worn. The floors were visually fine but lots of soggy spots in the floor in many areas. One of the AC units didn't have knobs and was hard to use. The room also had a very musty smell throughout. Some of the other units looked like they may have been in better shape.

I cannot recommend the Magic Castle Hotel highly enough. The staff and amenities completely won me over after my initial disappointed reaction. To me, the decor seemed a bit dated, there were no convenient electrical outlets for a CPAP, and the floors and bathroom for the suite left a lot to be desired. The reason that I give the Magic Castle Hotel five stars, though, is for all the things that matter. We were greeted with sparkling white wine, smiles, and an easy check-in. The suite was enormous, with a door allowing the bathroom/bedroom area to be sectioned off. The beds were insanely comfortable and did not squeak when someone turned over. I heard very little noise from outside and none from other units. We loved the free candy, soda fountain, and coffee machine, and the breakfast buffet was abundant. We thoroughly enjoyed performances by Alfonso on both Saturday and Sunday. The location was excellent, with easy access to the Hollywood Walk of Fame and the Metro. And, as I mentioned, every single person on staff was fantastic. They all made me feel like I was the single most important guest they'd ever had; I've never felt so pampered.

This hotel is OLD. You can tell driving by and walking in. That being said, the rooms are still nice and clean, the unlimited free snacks and drinks are fantastic, and room fees are reasonable. Not to mention, a room can get you free admission to the Magic Castle next door, which is such an amazing experience in itself. We tried booking to get the free 200$ dining credit, but you have to book a special room in order to get it. We booked and called over the phone to make sure if we did it correctly, and we were told that we were fine and had nothing to worry about. Sadly, when we arrived, we were told we couldn't get the credit, but at least they comped our parking. Definitely needs to be a bit clearer and have better confirmation on their part for this promotion, but it was still a pleasant experience

They’ll charge to an additional $50 for incidentals and claim you get this back within the week.. no dice! They’ll then say they “looked into it” and it’s the banks issue. The statement received from the hotel billed the additional $50 above the booking fee so unsure how they can’t compute the fact they took the money…? Over priced for dated, smelly accommodation with narrow stairs to rooms (not typically an issue) however no lifts, so pack light! You’ll risk putting your back out carting your suitcases up and down solo. The associates were perhaps high.. had no idea what was going on. Seems like a place where people go to die but hey this may be the best holiday spot for you?!

We had a fantastic stay at the Magic Castle Hotel last month. Our kids loved the free popsicles, soda, ice-cream and breakfast. They say its their favourite hotel (we stayed at 6 hotels on our trip to the USA). We loved the location (close to Hollywood and metro) and the spacious apartments and great value. The service was superb. My son celebrated his 6th birthday when we were in LA and the staff made him feel so special. Certainly a very memorable stay and we would recommend.

Love the amenities! If you have kids under 10, they will have a blast. Pool is nice and warm. Staff are friendly and professional. The rooms are, to be honest, a bit dated. But the location is so fantastic that you can overlook that. So much fun stuff within walking distance.

Although the hotel is old and could do with an update... the staff and management make up for it. We found the hotel to be clean and comfortable. Never have I experienced the level of service we received from any other hotel. The staff were extremely friendly, polite, informative, helpful, and attentive. Nothing was too much bother for them. The novelty of the icypole hotline and 24-hour snacks were certainly a hit with the kids. I particularly loved the idea of the laundry service (free) as well as the soda fountain and soft serve ice cream machine!! The coffee machine in lobby was a god send!! It was great to have a kitchenette to help off set the costs of eating out! Great location. I can fully appreciate why this hotel gets booked out!! Book in early! If we ever find ourselves back in Hollywood, we would certainly be staying here again!

This is a wonderful, old-fashioned, quirky hotel in the heart of Hollywood, with the most amazingly friendly and efficient staff. The full suites come with kitchens (albeit old style), large bedroom(s) with comfy beds, and everything is very clean, the snacks are free, the pool is heated, there's a light breakfast included, and the staff is just delightful and helpful. During our stay, we had some problems with check-in and with the kitchen sink, but Regan and the manager made sure everything got fixed quickly, so all was good. Bottom line - this place has charm and character, plus, it's the only way to get into the Magic Castle without being a member or knowing someone who is, and the Magic Castle is great. The hotel could probably use a few updates, and be sure to call in advance if you need accessibility services, because there are no elevators. But if the hotel changes hands, I hope the new owner does not tear it down and replace it with some cookie-cutter modern building - it really should be preserved.

The best place I have ever stayed! We felt so welcome and so taken care of from the moment we walked through the door! This place understands that they are in the hospitality biz and treat you like family! Gorgeous heated salt water pool, cozy beds, complimentary everything! So so so wonderful! Made my families trip, we never wanted to leave! Super close to everything! Alonzo the magician was amazing.

All the reviews are true, this place is really great for families. It is actually a really interesting concept - the hotel building itself is not super modern and could probably do with a renovation. But the rooms are big, the location is great, and most noticeably the service is spectacular. Free breakfast, snacks, ice cream, soft drinks and laundry probably do not cost the management that much, but they engender so much goodwill. Once you visit, you will be mystified why other hotels don't adopt the same approach.

Great place. We were there for a birthday brunch. It was super delicious. Best omletes ever. The desert bar was wonderful. Loved the bottomless mimosas. The Magic shows were great. Such an amazing day.

Great location, outstanding service and very family friendly. Rooms are dated but the location and service really make this place stand out. Appreciated the champagne on arrival, unlimited free snacks and free in-room laundry. Easy walk to lots of Hollywood attractions, while we were there the traffic in/out of the area could be very slow at night so keep that in mind when travelling to events.

Very Highly recommend this place if visiting LA with kids; They will love it here. Location is perfect for all the classic Hollywood things. Darren at the front desk made the stay even better. Free snacks for kids and movie nights in the pool ! Laundry Service as well.

Thank goodness for the Magic Castle hotel! They saved us from a truly terrible stay at the Hollywood Hills Hotel just above their property! They got us in last minute and were so helpful and kind - carrying our luggage, making sure we were comfortable, and doing it all last minute! I have stayed here many times and it's such a lovely place that truly cares about their guests. I cannot recommend it more!

I only got to spend a few minutes inside, but was impressed that that was the month all the time that I needed to be able to experience the lure and friendliness of the staff. The academy of magical arts is here, and to get in, you need to either be staying at the adjacent magic castle hotel, or buy a ticket for $40 per person, in addition to having dinner reservations with entrees. SPECIAL NOTE: when you're in the first lobby, you'll see a bookshelf to your left with a golden owl sitting on it. Walk up to the owl and say open sesame, and the wall will slide open giving you a different entrance into the inner parts of the castle.

Still amazing, the first US hotel I have stayed at post covid (out of 4) that is still as wonderful as it was. Still offering breakfast, clothes washing, snacks (all free). Staff are wonderful. Rooms are ageing, but still comfortable. Love it here.

Fantastic! This is a family paradise. Treats are free, seriously free. Candy, popcorn, crackerjax, the list is too long. They even have a soft serve machine, also for free. A waiter brought a silver tray of Popsicles to serve the kids. Oh yes, the rooms were huge, with a living room and kitchen, besides an impressive king-size bed in the bedroom. Great location in Hollywood.

Great experience! It’s very good located. Services are amazing… I mean, free snacks!you can’t beat that!!! And on top, the team was very helpful, they even helped us to change the tire, when we had a flat tire. Thanks! So recommended!

We have absolutely loved our time here, impeccable, and kind service, it's been the best part of our trip to LA. Will 100% recommend this place to anyone traveling to Los Angeles, home away from home with lavender on the included laundry service and endless snacks. It's a oasis of loveliness in the heart of things. thank you Magic Castle Hotel, authentic and one of a kind ❤️ we had the best Halloween here, minutes to the year round Tim Burton's Beetle house and fun afterwards in our floating inflatable coffin in the 24 hour pool. The non judgemental endless snacks and soft serve ice cream will make every other hotel seem less than after this. As a parent of teens I can 100% confirm this is the place to go!

This place is iconic. If you have kids of swimming by themselves age , you must be a great parent and stay here. If you a DINKS such as we are , you must stay here ! If you stay the night it also gains you access to The Magic Castle! Epic time all around.

We stayed at this hotel purely because it allowed us access to the Magic Castle Club. Our room was large, clean in need of a bit of TLC but reasonably priced. Free breakfast and snacks are a plus. Close to attractions. The Magic Castle club food was excellent and the multiple shows were amazing, magical.

Found this hotel on a FB group for Universal. Was so excited when I found out of the great things included. Sorry for the long review, but this is our experience. Customer Service is A+! Our visit was from 12/3-12/5. Stayed in 214 single Queen. Bed was comfortable. ( Not my purple, but didn’t wake up with backaches either) This isn’t your modern Hilton, but the Room was clean and that is all the matters to me! The shower was large and very nice. (Tip to open the window if you like hot showers like me so the mirror don’t fog) Weird to me, but there was a heat lamp in the bathroom. ( I wish we had these back home where it’s cold and snows) Room was very clean, there was mini shampoo/ conditioner/ face wipes/ lotion/ soap. I forgot my lotion and it was very nice! There was a mini fridge in the room we didn’t use it, but there a lock on it for a mini bar, front desk said we could use it if we wanted too. But we didn’t need too. Hotel is a converted apartment building. There are a lot of stairs. No elevator, this was not an issue for us, but for someone with mobility issues, this might be an issue. The parking is underneath the hotel, can be entered with your key card. There is a staircase in the back right hand side leading up to the hotel. This is gated and felt very secure. Breakfast is included, cold cereals, oatmeal breads and muffins, fruits, yogurt and juices and coffee. Free Icecream! Who doesn’t love this? Coke freestyle machine. ( Sorry no Dr. Pepper) but open 24/7 snacks they have a list on their site. So many it’s hard to choose! They also have some family games. We just didn’t have enough time to use them. We walked to the Hollywood Stars, about (8-10) walk. There is a Target near and other restaurants. We visited Universal Studios and it was about a 10-15 min drive. We didn’t have time for the Magic Castle, but heard it’s amazing! Our visit was for my son’s 10th birthday ( just me and him) They gave him a special birthday card and gift. Thank You!!

Booked a room to guarantee a pass to the Magic Castle Club. The rooms are a bit on the minimalist side. It's family friendly with a pool and snack socials. Continental breakfast is included. Parking underground is convenient. Doesn't seem to accommodate ADA as there are so many stairs and I didn't see an elevator. The staff are very friendly and helpful. Full size snacks unlimited at anytime. Bottled filtered water is also complimentary.

Perfect location for us, easy parking (fee), quirky but wonderful throw back to the essence of Hollywood and LA. We enjoyed the spacious room, welcoming staff, continental breakfast. Loved the Popsicle Hotline, the soft ice cream service, the coffee/tea, being able to eat outside around the pool. If you reserve ahead, and upon your request the Magic Castle will help get you into the Magic Castle - we saw a performer around the pool showing his magic tricks when we were there. While it is not a new/modern hotel, it is very comfortable, clean, charming, hospitable, and well situated. Outstanding beds. Great value. Truly one of a kind experience.

The magic shows were great. World class magicians we're performing awe inspiring tricks. The only issue was food and beverage was pricey but very good. The wait staff was outstanding!!! Although pricey, save your money and attend (if you know someone who can get you in), truly a great experience.

The staff was wonderful and made sure to put a group of adult girls far away from the families as there are adjacent apartments with permanent residence and the 2 bedroom family style studios that they have available. It's a beautiful little green corner tucked into Hollywood with a giant had to be 50 year old avocado tree shape rolled avocado tree shading the entire area it was quiet it was quiet it was quaint it was exquisite and even though I don't have children yet I would absolutely love to come again to act like a child myself.

My family really enjoyed this place. From the popsicle phone with white gloved delivery, to the constant and free ice cream. You really couldn't find a better place for your kids. Look... if you want the nines, this isn't it. But if you just wanna relax on the balcony over coffee and breakfast. This place is really welcoming. They had a great staff that noticeably paid attention to detail. The private underground parking is really nice in the downtown Hollywood area. đź‘Ś

Shows are great. Magicians and performers are a lot of fun. Food is decent. However, they gouge prices on service items. Charged $53 for ONE drink 2 minutes before I would be "cut off" from entering the theater for a show with my friends. Very scummy. Sad, but very real business practice.

We picked this hotel last minute and booked it same day as we needed a hotel close to universal studios and affordable enough for five of us. I called to make my booking, and the girl at the front desk who answered the phone was very nice! This hotel has awesome perks if you have kids!! They give you free snacks at the front desk and provide a self-serve soft-serve ice cream and soda machine available 24 hours! The kids were in heaven! Although we did not use the pool, it is heated to 88° year-round! The rooms were nice and large and we had two full size beds in the bedroom and one sofa pull-out bed in the living room. It was so nice to have the extra space because one of the kids was coughing all night and we sent him out to the sofa bed so we could get some sleep in the bedroom!! Although the sofa pull out bed was not comfortable, he was able to just sleep on the sofa without pulling out the bed. The beds in the bedroom, on the other hand, were VERY comfortable, they provided tons of pillows, and it was quiet and dark enough! I would stay there again for sure!! One of my kids even asked if he could go back there for his birthday!

A fantastic stay! My husband and I booked a few nights here because we wanted to experience the Magic Castle and the rates were very competitive for the area. The hotel staff easily helped us arrange our reservation at the Magic Castle. As a whole, they are super friendly and helpful. The Magic Castle was truly a night to remember. We stayed from 7pm-closing, we were having such a good time and just couldn’t leave until we had to. Then we just moseyed to the hotel a few feet over at 2am… it was glorious!! During our stay we enjoyed the free snacks and the pool. We walked to Runyon Canyon and a couple restaurants. The rooms are outdated but immaculately maintained and comfortable. You will feel taken care of. I seriously recommend going to the castle, staying here and eating the free sour cream and onion chips if you want to live your best life. Can’t wait to come back.

As with many people, we stayed at the Magic Castle Hotel to guarantee entry to the Magic Castle. Book well ahead of time to get the number of entries you need, especially on a busy weekend night! The hotel itself was such a slice of magic in itself though. Feels truly like a bit of classic American motel, but with charming extras. Very family friendly. Definitely feels a bit bare bones, lots of furniture and such need a bit of updating, but isn't that how motels are? And especially at the price they charge, its entirely fair! The one issue we did actually have was the sound. There is basically no sound isolation at all. You can hear people coming and going through the pool area. You can hear people through the walls and the doors. Given that the hotel is adjacent to the Magic Castle, many of the guests are coming back from the Magic Castle fairly late, often having had quite a few drinks, and you'll hear every bit of it. Even people just talking at a normal volume next door you can hear crystal clear. We understand that this how the place was built, but surprised there was no warning about the sound, nor any earplugs provided in anticipation of it.

We chose this location so we could walk to the Magic Castle Club but we’re not disappointed. We were given a handicap room so there was a lot of space although sparsely furnished. Comfortable, kitchen, good shower, hot water, clean comfortable beds. The other amenities were a surprise. Free “treats” - soda machine, candy, soft serve ice cream, and at the 85 degree heated pool the “Popsicle Phone” like the Bat Phone you call they come with a variety of popsicles. Great place for travel with kids. EASY WALK to Gramens Chinese Theatre, El Capitan Theatre, other famous tourist spots. Lots of destination dining places including Yamashiro. Prices reasonable.

We stayed here many years ago with our two young girls, absolutely amazing. Had to stop them having all the freebies as they’d have been bouncing but they had more than enough. The pool was great and my memories are lovely. My now grown up daughters and two friends are going to LA and I’m begging them to stay there, it still has its old charm from pics and reviews.

Visited from Australia and right from the get go the staff were friendly and introduced themselves and made us feel right at home. The week we stayed there was very memorable and when we eventually return to the States, we look forward to staying here again. Close to a metro train station, Hollywood walk of fame, massive rooms, complimentary breakfast (which had Vegemite so extra points), unlimited snacks and just overall a fantastic start to our holiday. Thanks again.

As a family of 5 we stayed at the Magic Castle Hotel for 4 nights in January 2023. Darren the proprietor and his team could not have done any more to make our experience a memorable and enjoyable one. The complimentary laundry service and snacks were amazing, and the included breakfast a perfect start to each day. The hotel is located an easy walk from Hollywood Blvd and Sunset Blvd, with east access to LA trains, and a good walk to the Hollywood sign. For any families looking for a fun location that will be a memorable one for the kids, this is well worth the stay! Thanks again Darren and team!

We stayed here to get the dinner reservation for Magic Castle, but we'll be back because it's legit an amazing place to stay. 24 hour hour pool, popsicle hot line, apartment style rooms for big groups (we had 6 people), bloody Mary bar, crazy list of endless snacks, the most patient, thoughtful and kind staff!! We almost booked a second night just to lounge at the pool more. I'd much rather stay at this charming locale than a bougie one with a rooftop any day. Can't say enough about this hidden gem.

Our experience at the Magic Castle Hotel was second to none! From the warm welcome upon check-in, to the farewells at check-out, we couldn't fault it! The rooms were spacious, the location was perfect and the service! It felt like a second home to us. Highly recommend this property to anyone, especially families who are wanting to experience Hollywood for all that it is. We cannot wait to visit again.

This was our favorite hotel while on a one-month road trip across America. Its more kid friendly than Disney World, the free snacks were awesome, and there was a generally friendly vibe amongst the guests. We wouldn't hesitate to stay here again.

Amazing hotel for families. If you have kids and need a place to stay in Hollywood, look no further! Spent 5 days here in April 2023. The rooms themselves were a little dated/basic but clean and comfortable. The rest of the hotel amenities and the location more than made it up for it. So much free stuff! And so rare in the USA Free... soda machine, soft serve ice cream, snacks/chocolate/sweets, hot drinks, breakfast, laundry (in the cutest brown paper parcels) and of course the popsicle hotline! And free booze with the $20 free credit too. Thank you so much for a memorable stay.
