Friends came up with the brilliant idea to come to a German pub on an Irish holiday. We had a great St. Patrick’s dinner! The restaurant wasn’t busy but was still very festive. Wait staff was attentive and friendly. We got some kegs dyed to make a fun green beer. The food was fantastic. Everything was a hit. Pretzel and curry made great starters. The potato pancakes with marscapone and applesauce were nice light bites but the rest of the food leaned very strong and flavorful. Really liked the chimichurri schnitzel, and the cheesecake was delicious! Highly recommend and would definitely come back again.

Plenty of outdoor patio seating, great German beer selection and an abundance of amazing food options. The Jaeger Schnitzel was outstanding with the wild mushroom gravy stealing the show. Loved the potato salad and sour kraut too. Not to be ignored, the Kaiser Schnitzel with the sun dried tomato cream sauce is a great option too. I would be remiss if I didn't sing the praises of the exotic meat sausage sampler plate...AMAZING!!!

Wirsthaus serves the Best German vegan sausage in LA. Their Vegan ‘Wurst Cali ‘ is my favorite- it comes with two sides. Their pretzels are also delicious- I ask for vegan mustard sauce (no honey added). The Impossible Burger is ok but this place is better known for their German food. The vegan schnitzel is interesting to try. Their beer selection’s always impressive! It’s fun to go there for Octoberfest- there’s German music every weekend in October!

So good! I’ve lived in Germany and this is probably the best place I’ve been to here in LA. Ordered my usual - Jager Schnitzel, Cucumber salad, spätzle… It did not disappoint. Everyone I was with enjoyed their food as well. Large portions. Decent prices. The bread pudding was absolutely delicious (my favorite) and the Apfelstrudel and Nutella pudding were just as yummy. Service was good. Will definitely be back.

cozy, friendly spot for some spot-on German sausages both traditional and non-traditional. Kind of easy to miss the storefront as you look for street parking. Small indoor bar dining area and a cute outdoor patio area with more room. Décor reminiscent of a Bavarian soccer fan pub-jersey’s, scarves, logo steins, Bundesliga on tv, etc. Lots of beer choices, almost all of which I was totally unfamiliar with both by bottle and on draft. If you like a hard cider, the Polish Perry Milosawski Pear Cider was delicious. The menu includes a couple of sandwiches, goulash, schnitzels, and of course sausage links. About 7 or 8 varieties including a couple of vegan options. Also a link of the day. Link plate with 2 sides will run you about $17 plus/minus. You can add a link to a plate for an extra $3. Sides run towards traditional Bavarian fare such as spaetzle, sauerkraut, German potato salad among others. We chose to start with a Bavarian Pretzel from the appetizer menu. This arrived warm with sweet mustard and another dipping sauce called obatzda. This is a traditional biergarten item to serve with pretzels made with cheese and butter. Not sure of the ingredients here but it was delicious with the very good pretzel. My DW loves to see any entrée made with Wild Boar on a menu so she jumped on the boar sausage (Wildschwein Wurst) with roasted garlic and wine, adding German potato salad and kraut for her sides. The Kasekrainer sounded great to me. This link was made with pork and Emmentaler cheese. The special sausage of the day was duck bacon. Really should have asked if it was duck and bacon or bacon made from duck. Didn’t come to mind until too late. Either way it was the star of the night IMO. Outstanding flavor. If you like duck at all and it’s on the menu try it. My sides choices were spaetzle and garlic green beans. Of the four sides, the beans and the kraut were very good and quite flavorful but the potato salad and the spaetzle we considered quite bland. The boar link and the pork with Emmentaler were totally delicious. It appears, from our meal and others in phots I’ve seen, that the links are cooked over some type of coals/open flame grill that really ads to the flavor profile if they had been cooked using a different method. Kudos for that. Wish I had chosen to ask but our server was quite new and knowing that I skipped the questions. No time this visit to try desserts such as apple strudel ala mode but hope to next time. If Bavarian food and drink are your desire, absolutely give Wirsthaus a visit.

What's the wurst that can happen? An amazing German restaurant with great imported beer, delicious food, and excellent service. We had a slight hiccup with our food, but George made it right, and it was his incredible service that made us want to go back. Great restaurant!

Being German, I can say that this place has good food. The beer and people are great too. And we will definitely come back. The problem are the portions: Any Schnitzel I ordered was tiny! In Germany these Schnitzel sizes would be a kinder portion. The portions need to size up a bit to get more stars.

Based on the reviews, I was already very confident that this place was going to be great. After ordering some samplers on their beer and sausages, I was absolutely satisfied! The sausages were just perfect! Crispy skin with juicy and tender meat inside. The beer flight was worth of trying with 5 pours. Highlight would be the apple strudel— the best one I’ve had in my life! It was warm, fresh and well balanced. Not overly sweet and the ice cream and whipped cream were just enough. I will come back for this 💯 The only little flaw is the 🎶… It was on and off with all kinds of music genres, which sounded poorly organized and chaotic. It can also get a bit loud as our table was very close to the speaker. Overall, good price and nice quality food! Will come back for sure 😋 *street meter parking nearby was fairly easy. 2 hour limit before 8pm 🕗

If you’ve been to Germany, you know this is an imitation of true German food vs a literal “real German experience.” But if you only come to drink for a sports event or on a weekend, it won’t really matter. The German beer they have on tap is satisfactory for a good time and the food will go down well when you’re a little buzzed. But it’s not the kind of place you can enjoy sober at the same level as you would a true beer garden in Germany. It’s fine! For sure. It’s just not GREAT. It’s not five stars. It’s not real German food in Los Angeles. Is there a better place? Not that we have found, yet. But I also know this isn’t it if you’re looking for full authenticity. Also it’s expensive for what it is. For two of us it was $80 before a tip.

If you want to taste authentic German cuisine without taking the plane then this is the place. Food was fresh. Pretzel was a bit dry but the sweet mustard was amazing. They do offer vegan/vegetarian options in the each categories. This is a wonderful thought for accommodating everyone and being able to enjoy German food. Quantity of main dish is ok but I would suggest to take an appetizer to share. Oh and don’t forget to visit the toilet (must).

Ice cold beer and fantastic food! The Bavarian pretzel was warm and chewy, a great starter with the cold beer. The schnitzel was best I’ve ever had, so tender and thin with a crispy breading, served with delicious spätzel and garlic green beans. Apple strudel for dessert, an absolute must! So darn good, we’re still talking about it.

Stopped by for some dinner a couple weeks ago and man does this hit the spot if you need some Bavarian food in your life. We ordered the sausage sampler, the cheesy spaetzle, two types of schnitzel, and the apple streudel. The sausages were awesome but the spicy one knocked it out of the park. The cheesy spaetzle was such a delicious little near Mac and cheese but better- and I don’t say that lightly. Each schnitzel was so delicious I sort of blacked out eating all of it and came to very, very full. We managed to each take a bite of the apple dessert and even after all that food it still tasted great. 10/10 try it out.

We were out of town and needed a restaurant for New Year's Eve and didn't want to party hard because we were going to the Rose Bowl parade in the morning. After looking at OpenTable and Google reviews, we stumbled upon this restaurant that we thought would suit all of us. We called Uber for the first time ever and got a ride through all kinds of LA neighborhoods to get to the restaurant. Shout out to LA Uber drivers because they are more safe and more assertive than any I've experienced. My husband and I both wanted the schnitzel with wild mushroom and our son decided to try something entirely new, pretzel encrusted schnitzel with beer cheese and pickles. Each of these entrees came with two sides and we could choose from a large selection. My college student chose french fries and schnitzel. Double carbs for the win! Hubby got Brussels sprouts and schnitzel. I got green beans and sauerkraut. Both the Brussels sprouts and the green beans were luscious: loads of butter and garlic. I also got a delicious grapefruit beer with just 2.5%ABV. It was delightful. The restaurant was moderately busy and the service fell off toward the end and I had to ask for the check but the service was friendly throughout.

They have a delicious German beer selection, a really friendly team, and a terrific, welcoming atmosphere. I was recommended to visit Wirtshaus for their awesome meals and German beers. I had the Hofbräu Original and a Bavarian Pretzel, which were both fantastic, and I highly recommend them both! This is an excellent restaurant to enjoy delicious food and drinks, and a perfect companion to an evening at the New Beverly Cinema (a block away).

Great spot for your “fix” of German food or beer! They have a great selection of beers on tap and in bottles, including some regional selections that you generally won’t get here in the US. The food is great as well, as I can recommend the Schnitzel or any of the Bratwurst options.

Incredible German beer selection! I love that they had different sized pours available and special glasses for different beers. Although the brussel sprouts were too sour, the rest of the food that we ordered was very tasty. Our server was also very sweet. We can't wait to go back.

Great beer, great brats. While it may get a bit busy, it’s worth the wait. Indoor and outdoor seating is comfortably spaced. Wait staff is friendly and knowledgeable. Great place for some yummy German fair.

My husband and I came here for date night recently. The restaurant we intended to go to was closed, but we are so grateful that led us here. The wait staff were all kind, personable, and prompt with service. We shared the cordon bleu schnitzel, with the cucumber dill salad, and the spicy chicken schnitzel sandwhich. Both meals were absolutely delicious. The fry on both schnitzel was light and well seasoned. We also shared the bread pudding a la mode for dessert - I will be craving this endlessly from now on. Absolute best bread pudding I have ever had. We can't wait to come back here.

This was my first time eating here and the atmosphere was great. It was laid back. It was nice but not overly fancy. The food was incredibly delicious. Normally, restaurants offer meals where one or two items are good and the rest is average. Literally every dish and side dish at Wirthaus is OUTSTANDING!! I had the Jäger Schnitzel (veal) covered in mushroom gravy, with red cabbage and roasted potatoes with bacon. My wife had the Wildschwein Wurst (Wild Boar Sausage) with garlic green beans and garlic brussel sprouts. I can't speak highly enough about the mushroom gravy. If you love mushroom flavor like I do, you will be amazed at how flavorful it is. The sausage was savory and cooked to perfection. It came with some great mustard. My wife ordered an additional sausage so we could share everything. The red cabbage was an excellent and healthy side and the potatoes, green beans, and brussel sprouts were top shelf. The potatoes were like home fries with bacon. I asked for some curry ketchup and they obliged. The green beans weren't overcooked like most places and the brussel sprouts weren't dry and overcooked like most places. The chef and cooks are gifted here. The serving staff are excellent. Our server was kind and helpful and very professional. It was cold and raining outside and this hearty comfort food was exactly what we needed. They have a great assortment of beers too. I wish I had saved room for the apple strudel, but now I have an excuse to return! I will absolutely make it a point to do that soon and bring my daughter.

Having lived for over two decades in Austria, I’m a bit picky when it comes to “German” restaurants in the US. But Wirtshaus is for real. Their schnitzels are echt (authentic) as are their beer options (I recommend the Hefeweizen). I got the Jägerschnitzel (with mushroom sauce). I would happily get it again. The only difference from the Jägerschnitzel I had in Austria is that the Wirtshaus has the same crust as their wiener schnitzel whereas in Austria it would have no crust. Still, it was superb. I got it with their brussels prouts and Spätzle. The sprouts could have been cooked a bit longer. The Spätzle was cooked to perfection. Portions are generous, so we didn’t have room for the Apfelstrudel we were dreaming about before we ordered. Wirtshaus has plenty of vegan and vegetarian options. We sat at their wooden outdoor tables. They have indoor seating as well. The staff was professional and friendly. They have a lot but there is also parking on the street (closer options are metered). It’s a delightful venue that I highly recommend.

A small corner restaurant with sitting both inside and Outside. This place is by far the most authentic German restaurant i have been to in Los Angeles. When friends suggested to try this place I was expecting move of a German-American place with some fancy expensive beer, some food that tasted like the other places but then things changed as soon as we walked in ! Even their staff is from Germany For the first time, German food tasted like Germany, and it was delicious. We ordered the Käsekrainer , lamb burger, their signature burger, and the schnitzel and all were perfect specially with their own special sides such as hot cabbage, garlic brussel sprouts, german noodles and etc. Beer was perfect ! Every time in different glasses tho lol which was cool . Then came the desert , that Nutella thing ! BOMB ... We went there on a Sunday night and found parking , I am not sure if they have a parking or not but parking can be an issue in that part of city. Service was a little behind , but they were really cool people that I will give them Five star And did I mention their restroom , make sure you visit ! Try it, Try it, Try it ... and Thank You for making it such a good experience. We will be Back

We ordered two appetizers and two beers. The curry is delicious! We’ll definitely come back and try more foods. Free parking is behind their building. You have to drive through the alley and go down the basement.

Great people and vibes during Oktoberfest. Food was good and beer was great! When the live music is playing during Oktoberfest festivities, you have to order a minimum of 1 liter for any of the draft beers. We even participated in a stein holding contest. We had lots of fun and would come again.

We come here for Barça games. Love hanging out with our friends watching soccer. Super friendly staff, good German food and awesome selections of beer!

I'll start with the good (or in this case, great): the beer menu and serving size options. Serving beer from the oldest brewery in the world. That's pretty cool. We each got two steins. Now, onto the bad: the food isn't great. We started with the Weisswurst, a boiled bavarian white sausage and pretzel. The pretzel was a bit overcooked on the outside and not overly chewy on the inside. The boiled sausage was a bit mushy with an awkward skin on the outside, but that's to be expected. I also ordered the Rinder Gulasch and my partner ordered the Kasepatzle. We weren't a fan of either. We also got a Chicken Schnitzel to go to have as leftovers for the next day. It's overpriced for a ridiculously thin single piece of fried chicken ($18.50) - I can make a better version at home. All to say, if it wasn't for the beer menu, I don't think I'd need to come back here.

I was really excited to order this for first time and I attempted to order on their app but they lost my order and some dude was harassing me from the street, which was non related, but still annoying. They were kind enough to offer to make my order, but after all the stress and the out of the way drive, I just had it canceled. Looks good though, maybe one day.

What a great place. Incredible food - my personal recommendation is the traditional brats with Spätzle and potato salad - delicious!! Amazing staff, amazing venue, fantastic beer. I simply love Wirtshaus. As long as they're around I'll keep coming back. As long as they let me of course!

Perfect place to celebrate Octoberfest with friends. Great beer selection and very knowledgeable staff. They really know their beer selection. Every pour they recommended was exactly as they described. The food options are always delicious here and we always order almost all the appetizers and sides. Big menu selection and a surprising wide selection for vegetarians. Went for an early dinner on a Tuesday and there was only one other table occupied. Food came out quickly and hot from the kitchen. Great German food and beverages. We have NEVER been disappointed in this place.

Always fantastic. Given that this is a German place, it’s all about the meats, BUT the side dishes and salads are fkin fantastic. The Käsekrainer and the Jäger Schnitzel are top tier. That gravy - woof; the cucumber dill salad is so fresh and simple; the sauerkraut is quite tasty; the Spätzle is great but I think better with some sauce (or gravy 👀); and that German potato salad is outta this Welt. The only boring thing would be their water and mashed potatoes. Everything else is sehr schön. (Sit at the bar if you can - the cheeky German bartenders complete the experience.) Also, ALL THE GOOD BEER.

We drove from Marina Del Rey during rush hour to this restaurant. It was our first visit to Wirtshaus and we were very pleased with our dish. We had the pork Wirtshaus schnitzel with Brussels sprouts and their wonderful fried potatoes with bacon bits. For desert we shared their home made apple strudel with ice cream and raspberry topping it was very fresh and tasty. They also have a get selection of German beers topped off with a soft pretzel. We left full and satisfied. We.will definitely return.

Went for dinner . Got seated after about 10 minutes of being the first one in line. That's just how long it took for someone to talk to me . Server took out appetizer order and then didn't come back for an hour. At that point , i was really hungry and annoyed so I just asked for the check .the server stated they got really busy , how is that my fault? Maybe they shouldn't seat more people than they can serve . Just a thought. A discount on the food we actually got would've been appreciated but this complete lack of responsibility means I'll never go back

This restaurant is top in it's class and overall one of the best in the city! It is truly unique. Quality & service is always above expectations. I met the owner the first week they opened 11 years ago when I discovered it open. Since then I have enjoyed hundreds of visits and hosted countless corporate events there with great success. It is the local German car dealers favorite hang out. The Octobetfest is authentic from specialty foods & beers to traditional clothing worn by the staff. Guests are encouraged to dress in the spirit for this seasonal event. The accordion player has been there since the beginning & she makes you feel welcome as does the staff. There is a club for locals if you wish to hang your stein there. The Wirtshaus is good value for money and time spent. Enjoy!
