SADLY, while SFWC was unable to save a very sick duck I brought in, they were kind and compassionate. As a native South Flor who is EXTREMELY passionate about our wildlife, I feel incredibly fortunate that we have a wonderful place like this in our community which focuses on helping all of our animals. Please know if you do bring in a non-native animal, you will need to tell them that you will take the animal back if it can be saved, or else the animal will be humanely euthanized. Thank you all for the great work you do on behalf of those who have no voice🙏❤️

I am so grateful for South Florida Wildlife Center! I found an injured juvenile squirrel on a Sunday morning and was not able to find any other wildlife rehabbers/sanctuaries who were open for admissions on the weekend. South Florida was not only open but the staff member I interacted with was professional, friendly, and knowledgeable. I had such a good experience, I decided to apply to be a volunteer!

I need to come on here to make a public review. I know this place is here to help the community and animals however please don’t take any animals here. I brought the sweetest, most friendly, baby possum that I found abandoned in my backyard. Once I brought him they gave me a card with an id number to call back to see how he is doing in a few days. When I called back they said that he had made it to the nursery with the other possums but he was having a lot of seizures that couldn’t be stopped? He was in perfect condition when I brought him! They told me they had to euthanize him. I am very upset about this. If he was seizing aren’t there seizure medication that you can give him or even make him more comfortable. Who knows what kind of environment he was in back in the nursery. I had a bad feeling when I was bringing him to this place, something told me not to bring him but I still did. This is hard for me to take.

brought in an injured bird that flew into my back sliding door. they took the bird and identified it, gave me an identification number so I can keep track of the progress and even be there when the bird is released back by my home. great place. confident they will take good care of him

This place is awful and this needs to stop. The people here act like they care when they don’t. I had this baby pigeon for 2 days and bringing them here was the worst decision I made. I was around the area and it wasn’t long when, I had left this baby pigeon with them. I called not long after leaving them there. I did speak to a supervisor who told me, I could come and get them and have them taken to a vet. It’s disgusting that when, I get there, I get told it was euthanized like that was quick and they knew, I was coming back to get them. What makes you have the right to end a life. For all the animals that were brought here to be taken care for but got euthanized, I hope these people pay for what they done to many other animals. I had a bad feeling about this place at first and the worst happened. This isn’t going to stay like this for much longer. This place needs to be closed down. Disgusting people working at this place. DO ME A FAVOR AND DON’T BRING ANY ANIMAL HERE THESE PEOPLE ARE CRUEL AND VERY EVIL.

I am giving a one star for this particular experience. I had a previous experience that was good over 17 years ago and that is why I decided to chose them as a rescue this time around. I called them about a pigeon that I found in my backyard in the storm who seemed injured and was trying to seek refuge. I went outside and noticed he was banded with numbers on what appears to be both legs. He was large, but unable to fly. I thought he would be better in this rescue and the person I talked to said they would try to locate the owner on the band. I brought him there and made a donation. 48 hours later I call and the girl casually tells me his leg was amputated and he was “emaciated” and the doctors try to stabilize him and nothing could be done. I would believe this and have closure if it wasn’t for her telling me there were “no notes about any bands on the bird” when I asked her if at least an owner was located. She then told me that they keep pictures of lost and found animals for owners to claim. I’m sorry, but this sounds like such b.s and how wreckless to not actually have recorded the band numbers and try to find the organization or person this pigeon belonged to! Emaciated? What does that even mean? As you can see from the pictures he was quite large! I am so hurt and disappointed with no closure now and uncertainty that he was even properly handled and not just neglected or euthanized cause he didn’t matter. He mattered to me if even for the hour I had him!

I wish I could give ZERO stars. I also wish I took the time to review the negative reviews as they are VERY accurate. You would think that a non-profit wildlife rescue center would identify other options to assist injured animals aside from euthanizing them. Their volunteer was wonderful in transporting an injured bird I found in my backyard so I thought the center would also be compassionate. I felt a sense of relief thinking this bird was in caring hands. I was told I can call for updates in 48 hours. I call to receive updates at the 48 hour mark and the center tells me they euthanized the bird then proceeded with telling me to have a great day. I wish they gave the option for me to seek another opinion to see if there were any ways to help this poor bird. I’m seriously disgusted.

My name is actually Hillary. I brought a baby pigeon in this morning (4/5/22) and they couldn’t have been nicer!! I had no idea what to do with it after it’s sibling died in the nest and the mother never came back… They were sooo wonderful and made me feel so much better about my decision to bring the baby in! They do amazing work! I am making a donation right now! I also see they match it!!!!!!

I just had to drop off an injured bird. The young lady working there hopped right up to help. She was so sweet and caring. The whole process took about three minutes. This facility is wonderful. Hopefully I will not have to drop off another animal but if I do, knowing how wonderful, easy and fast the process is I will not hesitate

I notice an injured egret that just could not move. I called over 15 places with no help at all. I reached SFWC they where eager to help and was able to send someone right away. They are a great team that makes a difference. Thank you guys for everything, keep up the great work!!! Alan

The facility and staff are top notch. Carolina is an expert and shared her knowledge with us. They do amazing work with little funding and I am grateful for the time and care they take to help the local wildlife. We met Brussel Sprout the ambassador and he is in really healthy shape and thriving in their care. Thank you for the tour and work you do.

A good wild bird rescue center. I brought them a baby bird and they examined it and took him :) I think he’s in good hands now

I had an awful experience, along with many others, it seems. I'm not sure if they pick and choose which animals to care about, but it sure does seem like that sometimes. Echoing the concern of many others, I brought a wild animal here that was doing well in my care; called later and found out coldly that it was euthanized.

Very nice and easy visit! My partner and I found an injured baby mockingbird last night so we called in the morning and they took it right in. They even give you an ID card to check on the animal if you want! Everyone there was very sweet and helpful!

They removed my review, but to summarize, they euthanized the pigeon I brought in to fix its leg. It seemed like they couldn't offer any help, even though I did my research and it said otherwise. It's worth being cautious when considering their services.

I brought there the baby bird, turned out it’s not a native one so they redirected me to other place. But the stuff is friendly and helpful, the place are big and they saved a lot of creatures. One can see a big pelican sanctuary right by entrance 🤗

Love them here- they’re available to take animals during business hours, after hours they have cages that you can put wildlife in. They’re great to volunteer with and can always use donations. They do great work with the community and I am so thankful they are here to help.

Great facility. Very impressed. If you have an injured native animal they will take care of it. I brought an injured bird to there facility. I was so happy there was a place to get this injured animal some help I left a donation....and I am cheap so you know the place must have been good

I've dropped off animals here for years. Staff always fine. And although I 100% understand that they only heal/help natives, it stinks they can't help exotics and give to a place that can keep them.

A truly great place to bring injured wildlife. A nice young lady answered my call and I told her I had a dove that may have flown into a window and was injured. She told me that the main gate might be closed by the time I arrived (pouring rain during rush hour) but said I could leave the dove in one of the cages they have set up outside the main gate. I didn't get there until after 5:30pm, but I was easily able to put the bird in their cage, and as I was leaving the lady came out to the locked gate and took the bird in. She thanked me and I was on my way, happy that the bird was in good hands. Thank you!

For over half a century, the wonderful people that run this facility have been taken care of rescuing, rehabilitating and releasing native south Florida wildlife. They get no outside funding and rely on donations from the public and companies to do what they do so well.

Love this place and happy to support them, I’ve taken a squirrel that was hit by a car and an opossum with a broken jaw. They are very kind when you call to follow up. I was happy that both of these animals were laid to rest in peace and didn’t have to suffer on the side of a road.

This is one of a kind! Treats wildlife injured by civilization and Ford an amazing job. I am a monthly contributor and take all the injured wildlife I find there. The place is clean, the front office very efficient and the animals which I go in and visit, are perfectly cared for. I can't begin to describe my admiration for the volunteers and urge people to donate and volunteer to help.

Awesome place, friendly people. I took an injured Pigeon that we found on our community and they accepted the bird to start an examination. had a good feeling about their operation which is non profit and they survive from donations, which I donated right away

My overall experience was okay, to say the least. Im a 15 year old who saw a baby squirrel at the bottom of a tree in my front yard and i just had to tell my parents. We were all so concerned, and got a blanket and found out that there was something wrong with his leg(i named him peanut). When we were abt to leave i saw another baby squirrel(caramel) and our concern doubled. I saw that this was the nearest wildlife center to us so i called them and drove these poor babies there. Why im giving 1 star is because of the customer service. As my parents showed them these baby squrrels, i see that the staff didnt really give me the reassurance that they were going to be okay, let alone they were handled kinda roughly and were just put in a box and were taken somewhere idk. They didnt really mention what was going to happen to them and if they were in good hands. it almost seemed like they were just trying to get it over with by quickly telling us to fill out some papers instead of adressing our concern for these poor animals. i honestly regret bringing them to this place, so i recommend finding a good vet that actually would give u info on helping an injured animal. i hope peanut and caramel would be okay.

I found a baby dove and called in to ask if they could take him in-- the lady kindly provided a number and asked me to send a pic of him. As I did it, the person identified the bird but then never wrote me back. I called 4x (and texted 4x too) between 11h and 16h30, and no one got back... I think this baby has a parasite and it will not make it :(

This wonderful facility provides much needed veterinary care for our South Florida wild animal residents who unfortunately have lost habitat due to no fault of their own. The staff and volunteers who work at SFWCC are truy compassionate and caring individuals who work tirelessly to rescue, rehabilitate and release wildlife back to their natural habitat. This place is truly amazing and so very much needed within our ever growing area.

They took in a sick Muscovy duck and brought her back to health. She was treated for botulism. They nursed her for 10 days and then I picked her up to bring her back to the location I found her at originally. They were very kind and I'm grateful that we have such a great wildlife center in Broward. They need more support and we need more organizations like this in SFLA. Thank you to the awesome staff for your care and dedication in helping the wildlife in our community.

If I could give 500 stars, I would. I recently brought an orphaned mourning dove and know it is receiving quality care by the numerous dedicated staff members at the center. My family and I have brought countless wild animals to this facility over the years and can always count on the animal's best interest and comfort to be put first. Thank you all for what you do!!!
