Visiting the area for the weekend and visited everyday over the weekend for a quick drink, although I thought I'd try for Sunday lunch as the reviews were really good and i could bring my 2 cockapoos. I work in the trade and have maybe 2 Sundays off a year so was really looking forward to a fresh roast!. Firstly the options are very limited. Beef or nut roast....the food looked great when I received it. Halfway through I queried that I only got 2 florets or brocoli as the veg? I was told it should've come with a separate side of veggies....these eventually arrived after I'd finished the rest of the meal. I got 1 nice slice of medium beef, melted in my mouth, amazing, but the 2nd half slice slither was 70% rind from the top of the joint.my dogs enjoyed that bit. The menu, and reviews all state about unlimited Yorkshire puddings....not today....1 each and thats its due to their bookings they had coming in. I was a 12pm booking, and they knew how many bookings they had, so why not just make more at the start of the day? To summarise, what i received was OK, but would not dine here again due to massively falling shortnof expectations.

We popped in for an impromptued pint on the way home from a walk in the park and saw the offer and well that was dinner sorted! What a fantastic piece of steak (Saturday night is Steak night) was perfectly cooked and rested. Will definitely be back! Highly recommend

This has to be awarded the worst food pub in Dorset. They seriously need to.find a chef that can actually cook. Food ordered 5.30pm. Eventually came 6.20pm. Was the worst fish and chips you can imagine. Burnt beyond belief. Child fish was the same. Now this so called chef should work.in a crematorium. Do not spend your hard earned cash here. Ive given 1 star because i cant give a minus score.

Had dinner here with my family as I was recommended this place by a friend. We waited 20 minutes for someone to take our food and drink order then waited a further hour for our food to arrive. The food was decent but the long wait and service was awful. The waitress was apologetic and very nice but for me the evening was already ruined. Definitely wouldn't recommend 1*

We were told about this pub prior to coming on holiday. We decided to try it for Sunday lunch. We had an absolutely fabulous meal. The staff were very friendly and attentive. My husband tried and really liked the local lager. The food was hot, really well cooked and there was plenty of it. I was glad to see social distancing still in place as it made me feel less anxious in light of the rising COVID rates. I would definitely recommend this pub. Well done.

We ate here as we stayed in Poole overnight to catch the morning ferry to France. The staff were helpful, cheerful, and professional. The setting is comfortable, and the tables are nicely set far enough apart to not feel overcrowded. The menu needs to have a few things that help it stand out from the crowd. I understand the need to have a condensed menu, it helps manage costs in these very difficult times for both customers and proprietors, but with no specials board, the menu did feel a little restrictive. The food was OK, it was hot, it was nicely presented, and it was served quickly. It just felt ordinary. I am absolutely certain that with a little effort and imagination, you could turn a mediocre menu into an outstanding one very easily.

This is a really nice pub. Traditional looking pub on the inside with large beer garden outdoors. Staff are always friendly & helpful. Good local beers and high quality food. Hot drinks available. Car park available. Dog friendly. A good local pub which although popular doesn't get too noisy so good for catching up on conversation with friends & family.

Lovely pub with huge outdoor space and a playground for kids. Amazing chicken and cauliflower wings and a good steak cook to order. Good selection of beers according to my other half and I cannot complain about wines :) Lovely decor inside and atmosphere.

We had a fantastic time here. The welcome was very warm and the atmosphere was very nice. The food portions were very good and after two courses we were stuffed!!! We would certainly recommend this pub anytime. It's a shame we don't live closer because I think we would visit this place a lot more often!!!. If we could give ten stars we would.

Came for lunch 3 people, very happy, lovely young polish lady made our day. Polite friendly and very helpful. Didn't get the young ladies name but would like to thank her for the professional service.

I've been going to this pub since my childhood and it still gives me the same nostalgia as I enter even though it has been revamped etc Great food. Lovely staff. Great garden with park for the kids and you're also allowed your fur babies there!! I had my 17th birthday here and go back at least once a year just for the memories.

Nice enough place. Plant burger not available so had to go for the other option (chickpea curry). Daughter had Mac N Cheese but found it too salty to eat. Was offered a refund or dessert - which was good of them to do. Nice selection of beers. Live music on the night we were there.

Front of house staff were great. Sharing starter is massively over priced and small (camembert and wings). Mains took almost an hour to arrive including one roast dinner (on menu as pink however was brown and chewy) an over cooked thick gravy, way too peppery red cabbage and I had to ask for veg which was just peas and half a carrot. Chicken dish was a tiny breast and fish and chips was small and burnt. Overall, food was awful and way too expensive (26 pounds per person). Beer was 5 pound a pint and a good selection however menu does not include prices. Won't come again for food.

Have used the yachtsman a few time but last visit a week ago was not good at all. The meal portion has reduced dramatically. Had a starter which was very disappointing. Very small starter then had a main and this was more like a children's meal portion. For the prices charged this really was not good. Also had to order at the counter (not a problem) but in the past a waiter/waitress came over to take your order. For the amount spent I had to get something else to eat once home as was still hungry. I am not a big eater either. Overall experience has gone down hill massively. Will not be returning in the future.

Went here for lunch and had the smothered chicken. Food was really good and fries were nice and crispy. It arrived to the table in good time. Family friendly venue with a small play area, needs a lick of wood stain just to freshen it up. The team that were working were very friendly.

The young staff were amazing but the chain should be ashamed for leaving two young staff to run the place. Food was very below average. Mostly microwaved. Used to be a lovely pub to visit.

I came for the beer but also enjoyed the food. The service was really good, if at times a little slower than expected. Dana was extremely helpful to a family asking more than usual. My flat iron steak was cooked exactly as requested and one unusual request for yogurt to go with an unexpectedly spicy chilli con carne for our 12 year old was dealt with wonderfully. Very happy customers, disappointed by the lack of pie night this week though. Definitely worth a visit for a pint or a meal!

Went to a wedding doo yesterday and the hot buffet was amazing and the best I have ever had. Lovely young man checking all was OK and and the chefs worked very hard including the team bringing out the food. Very impressed.

Good ale, food and wine, 2 staff serving gave good friendly service. Lovely pub, toilets sparkling a bonus.

Nice Sunday roast, service was really slow and we appeared to be forgotten about in the corner booth!

Lovely meal at this dog friendly pub. Ordering at the table via an app is great. We had a fish n chips and a bacon cheeseburger, both were cook well and hot. Then both of us had the sticky toffee pudding which is always a winner at a Hall and Woodhouse pub. Thank you Olly

What a gem! Fantastic food, had the Flat Iron steak and the best garlic bread ever! Staff very friendly as well.

What can I say... Had the fish and chips followed by vomiting and diarrhoea a few hours later. It didn't taste right at the time, couldn't put my finger on it, until later that is, good job I didn't eat it all or go for a pudding! Update: In reply to the response received, yes this is a very serious matter, and I do feel this was/is the case, you questioning this I find disappointing and upsetting. I visited The Yachtman pub, Sunday 6th February, afternoon lunch with my mother who had the Nut Roast and is fine. Fyi, two days off working, still feeling under the weather today (Wednesday 9th February). I haven't eaten in three days now as I can't stomach food. Thank you for the crash diet.

Great food and terrific service. Sunday roast was delicious. The size of the Yorkshire pudding, wow!! We visited 3times over the weekend, every time the welcome was warm and friendly and the good great. Wish we lived nearer.

We have been a couple of times recently after a long break. The food was poor in years gone by but it is great now and the staff are so friendly. Brilliant with kids and the kids menu is lovely. Really well done to the new managers, they have turned this place around.

First visit whilst staying in the area. Easily accommodated 8 of us including dogs as pre booked. Good service and helpful friendly staff. Food was good quality however portions could have been slightly larger. The chain bridge in children's play area was taped off as broken which I would expect a pub chain to have contractor repair immediately especially as school summer holidays. Overall good experience and well worth a visit.
