A must place to visit! The pool is a great pass time. While we were at the pool we got surrounded by animals - it was interesting and scary at the same time.

Great experience...saw many elephants, giraffes, antelopes, gazelles, impalas, elands, a crocodile and many more. No lions or leopards or any carnivore other than eagles and vultures. It is more expensive than National Parks because you pay $70 for non residents and 1k for a Kenyan.

This is a great and barely explored place to go for a weekend getaway. The place has some of the rarest animals that cannot be found on the northern hemisphere like the gravy Zebra, gerenuk, reticulated giraffe, stripped hyena and Somali ostrich. The landscape is breathtaking. There is a natural spring where one can enjoy a break from the scorching sun. Definitely worth visiting.

I think I based my review on my stay at Sarova Shaba Lodge and not on individual places I visited. Buffalo Springs Reserve is one of the lush sides of the 3 reserves in Samburu and has more animals to offer as well. An early morning game drive here offered a scenic view of Mt. Kenya all the way in Nanyuki, a picturesque sunrise photos, more wild including reticulated giraffe, gerenuk, somali ostrich, and 2 more that make the Samburu Special 5 which we were able to spot. (I need to reference my IG post on the Special 5) Quite large heards of gazelles and antelopes, a few elephants and the mighty Buffalo Springs natural swimming pool that was as a result of the Italians bombing the British for the quest of colonies in East Africa. As a result, it left the swimming pool which we had no prior knowledge of but otherwise carry a swimming costume for an early morning dip. 😉

Buffalo springs national reserve is one of the warm parks in Kenya situated in Isiolo county. This park is a good holiday destination for those who would like to enjoy the solar warmth. It is a home to many wildlife animals being elephants, giraffes, various antelopes, hippopotamus, crocodiles, lions and other cats. Birds such as ostriches, Voulturine and guenea fowl , weaver birds among many others. Recently this park hit NES worldwide due to an elephant that gave birth to twin calves (see photos). The buffalo springs national reserve is also home to several hotels and lodges among them is my favourite Ashnil camp that has unique tents (guest rooms) and situation along the ewasonyiro river. There are several springs that originate from this park and are tributaries to the great ewasonyiro river. The park has a well maintained airstrip for those who would like to fly to this superior tourist destination. Enjoy your visit and stay in buffalo springs national reserve.

Beautiful landscapes dotted with even more beautiful animals and vegetation. Buffalo Springs National Reserve is one of the best places if you want to see most animals without having to drive too much around a park searching for them.

Great Game Reserve for wildlife watching. In June 22 it‘s really dry that makes it easier to spot wildlife.

Thrice I've visited Buffalo Springs and thrice I've had a very satisfying experience. This last time was great, as I decided to spend two nights in the park just enjoying being one with nature. Several of the Big 5 are present, as are other animals and birds unique to the region. There is a natural swimming pool in the eponymous springs with healing properties. The guides and rangers at the park are friendly, helpful and knowledgeable. One also gains access to nearby Shaba National Reserve where there are animals, birds and other numerous sites such as waterfalls, the Joy Adamson monument and spots where hollywood movies were shot and series such as Survivor Africa. There is also lots of history there for those interested. The landscape is spectacular.

One of the better national reserves in terms of specialty animals and natural beauty, but should revert to KWS management as it is poorly managed by the county government and I doubt that much of the entrance fees charged ever sees the light of day

(Translated by Google) Also a beautiful national park but should not be compared to the Masai Mara or Amboseli. The animal wealth is not that big. One visits this national park because of the Giraffe gazelles and the oryx antelope. It is usually used for booked safaris offered with the Samburu and / or Shaba National Park. However, caution is advised here if the two / three parks are offered in two days with arrival and departure. The trips are very long and you drive a lot in the car outside the parks. It is better to travel via Meru or Mount Kenya National Park with an overnight stay, then to Samburu, Buffalo Springs, Shaba National Park with one overnight stay and finally the southern Rift Valey area such as to visit Lake Nakuru / Naivasha or the Masai Mara. As a precaution, I do not recommend this tour for beginners. - So a beautiful national park, but should not be compared with the Masai Mara or Amboseli. The animal wealth is not so big. Located in the heart of Samburu National park is the Buffalo springs. It's a natural spring, as beautiful as it appears in the photo. The magic is in swimming in it's waters. Pebbles in the springs for those who wish to make a collection.

  • 4/5 MURIIRA M. 4 years ago on Google
First I will start by mentioning the swimming pool. This is the greatest amenity this place has,you will enjoy the cool waters under the scorching sun of Samburu land. Then let now get to the wild life, from elephants, lions, zebras and many more. This place is also best for camping, its secure and very comfortable.
