I really don’t get how this place has the rating it has 😅 we made a reservation for 20:45 but was told to sit at the bar while our table we booked was still in use by other people. What’s the point in making a reservation? they then say they charge if your 15 minutes late in the fine print when booking… yet we were told to sit at the bar for 20-25 minutes while we wait for the table we booked… All we kept hearing was sorry this sorry that with no actual action being taken…when we finally seated for the food the wait for the food was long and the service overall was pretty shocking I’ve had better service at a casual restaurant then here. I thought the food might save it but nope overpriced and it wasn’t even that tasty. Would definitely give it a miss and go somewhere else in Hong Kong especially for the fine dining experience and food! I think a lot of foreigners/westerners maybe hyped up the restaurant for what it is… which is pretty mediocre. I’m British and my girlfriend is Chinese and she informed me the dishes are not authentic at all it’s western modernized… if you want the Hong Kong experience then avoid this place!

The space is great, service is amazing and food is really tasty and innovative. Goose was real perfection, with plum sauce and mushroom dumplings were delicious too. Nice cocktails and home made drinks, that complement that atmosphere. Would definitely recommend and would come back again.

Delicious drinks and dessert. Food itself was a bit too pricey for what it was. I personally thought everything lacked something, either flavor or how tender meat can be. We also had a later dinner so many things ran out plus there were dishes where we needed to pre-order. A bit unfortunately we couldn’t try certain dishes. Service was a bit slow, they definitely should consider hiring more people because we were a table of 8 and there was just one waitress dealing with us plus other tables. It was hard with all the demands and orders we had. Atmosphere is fun and entertaining. With a big group this is an awesome place

We loved the ambiance and the quality of the food was good. Our favourite was the razor clams glass noodles which reminded us of Filipino-style sotanghon. If it’s someone’s birthday, they give the cute mahjong style small cakes for free, which is a fun freebie.

Waited a while to go to Ho Lee Fook and was not disappointed. Atmosphere is really quite different to a standard Chinese restaurant. It's dark with mood lighting. The walls have really cool illuminated prints on them depicting HK street life. Service. Wonderful. Really knew their stuff and were happy the whole night. Food. Really enjoyed it and ordered off the set menu. Will definitely go back.

Ho Lee Fook is a trendy Asian fusion restaurant located in the heart of Hong Kong's Central district. The restaurant's name is a playful play on words, which translates to "Good Fortune for Your Mouth" in Cantonese, and the food here definitely lives up to that promise. The menu at Ho Lee Fook is a delightful mix of traditional and modern dishes, with a focus on Cantonese cuisine. The standout dishes include the char siu pork belly, which is cooked to perfection and melts in your mouth, and the crispy eggplant with Szechuan honey, which is a perfect balance of sweet and spicy. The atmosphere at Ho Lee Fook is vibrant and energetic, with a modern and stylish decor that perfectly complements the food. The staff is attentive and knowledgeable, and the service is excellent. Overall, I highly recommend Ho Lee Fook for anyone looking for a unique and delicious dining experience in Hong Kong. Whether you're a local or a tourist, you won't be disappointed by the innovative dishes and lively atmosphere at this fantastic restaurant.

The ratings of this company should only be for the marketing team and that's it. The marketing team has done a fantastic job with the name of the restaurant, decor, wifi password and such. However, the food is average like any restaurants in London Chinatown. Staff speaks English but service was again average. Music was so loud, it was like eating in a pub. Price was high for average food. Would not recommend.

The place has a nice ambience, very relaxing and classy. The goose was fantastic, juicy and very aromatic. The dumplings were very good as well. The Wok-Fried Cheong Fun was a bit simpler for my palate as well as the birthday dessert. The birthday dessert intends to be a” let’s think out of the box dessert” but for me is a failure in trying to elevate a cereal, it can be seen as fun, but is not gastronomical enjoyable. The waitress Ashley made our night, she was kind, funny and attentive.

Ordered takeaway as I was in quarantine. The food arrived hot and fresh. Dan Dan Noodles are a unique twist. For the noodles would suggest another packaging, the paper absorbs the water and broth, so the noodles ended up being dry compared to the normal moist ones.

A modern take on Chinese food with refined techniques and a touch of SE Asian flavors. The portions are good for sharing. A plate can be eaten between 3-4 people at best. There were 8 of us and we ordered 10 plates, with a few veg items, rice and noodle, fish, chicken (which was awesome, tender meat with crispy skin), and their signature short rib. All of the dishes were seasoned well, flavor was on point. The cauliflower and Brussels sprouts dish was my least favorite. Beef tartare was the winner for sure, with the short rib coming in at a close second. The chicken salad was also superb. Lighting is dim, very dim. Not good for photos. Bonus points for blasting 80s music loud and proud.

We ordered rice, seasonal vegetables, spicy chicken wings, dumplings and the big wagyu. They were of good taste and quality but nothing particularly mind blowing. The wagyu however was quite good and had enough to share between 6 people. Service was good. Servers were attentive and polite. The atmosphere was definitely interesting. Gives off underground-luxury-traditional vibes.

Once thing that can be annoying about dining in HK is the number of place that you pay good money for so so, or even, poor food. Ho Lee Fook is not one of those places. Don't get me wrong, it ain't cheap but the food is very good. I like the place even better now with the redecoration. I'm getting old enough now to have to complain about not being able to read menus because it is so dark. Not a problem anymore since the refurb. I have a Chinese friend who says that he agrees that the food is excellent but that is Chinese food for westerners. I have to disagree. When I last visited, the majority of tables appeared to be occupied solely by local clientele except for two tables. Some of the menu items might take some creative approaches to a traditional dish but certainly doesn't make them any less tasty or unsuitable to Asian palates. If you're a traditionalist looking for a 'ye olde' Chinese restaurant experience then you might pass on Ho Lee Fook, but you'd be missing out. If you someone who doesn't mind spending a little extra, then you'll be getting great food with fun friendly service.

As you would expect from a Black Sheep restaurant, the food at Ho Lee Fook was amazing. The decor of this revamped version of the restaurant is more elegant and chic, and yet very cozy and comfortable. Rebecca and her team were the epitome of first class service - friendly, efficient, helpful. She gave us great suggestions about what and how much to order. Everyone at the table was eager to bring others to HLF to enjoy the food and service. It was a lovely experience overall.

This restaurant is awesome! Whether it be a celebratory occasion or a mid-week dinner after work, this is a fun place to take your friends out for a solid meal and a fun night out. The amazing people at HLF always go the extra length to ensure their guests have a great experience. Chef ArChan and her crew serve up consistently delicious & creative takes on Cantonese classics (definitely order the wings, prawn toast [best in HK!], short rib & dessert). The hospitality is seriously next level. General Manager Rebecca and her team (s/o Brian, Jules, Johann, Axel) are super friendly and always go overboard to ensure their guests are having a memorable experience. While food is flying out of the kitchen and being delivered to tables, they are hustling all over the restaurant ensuring drinks are refilled and guests are happy, all with a warm smile. I would unreservedly recommend HLF on the back of their service alone. To those complaining below, I'm sorry about your first world problems. Please spare a thought for the crew who are tirelessly working their butts off through the weekends and holidays to serve a full dining room of demanding guests, while you sit and complain about your waiting time or "not-so-authentic" food. I would definitely recommend HLF as a nice restaurant to check out for some delicious food and a fun experience.

By @theprivatemenu Good food, good vibe, good environment! It’s a really nice Chinese restaurant for a friend’s gathering. Every dish the staff recommended was delicious! These are the dishes recommended by them: ❤️Salt & Pepper Squid 🦑 (Love, love the curry sauce. We saved it and it went well with the prawn toast and other wok-fried dishes!) ❤️Steamed Live Razor Clams Recommended to mix well with soy sauce and glass noodles with the rice 🤌🏻 ❤️‍🔥Fried Chinese Zucchini, King Oyster Mushroom, Eggplant, “Three-Cups-sauce” 💯 #重口味人士必試 It’s my top pick from that night! ❤️Prawn toast 🍤 Preferably more crispy, but it’s a nice toast! ❤️Tofu Sorbet dessert 🍨 For those with a sweet tooth and an affinity for tofu, this dish is an absolute must-try; you won't be disappointed! The Char Siu and roasted goose were so-so; we would skip them on our next visit. #chinesefood #chinesecuisine #hk #hkfood #hongkong

Very busy place in a very busy district;) It feels party vibe here, more than dining but it’s Soho, babe ;)) Despite all the above the food is very tasty, and the design of the restaurant is so kitschy but catchy =) Probably the best spot to start the night in Soho.

One of my go to places whenever I visit HK. Love dining at Ho Lee Fook. Atmosphere and ambiance was great with amazing music and tasteful decoration. Food-wise, I highly recommend trying the char siew and razor clams. Both were great. Staff are so friendly at sharing the menu items and even gave my wife and myself mahjong tile dessert as we were celebrating a special occasion. Price was a little on the high side but justifiable for special occasions. I would definitely recommend trying this place.

Ho Lee Fook in Hong Kong offers a pleasant dining experience with delicious food, though it may not stand out among other fine dining Chinese restaurants in the city. What sets it apart is the captivating ambience and the attentive, knowledgeable servers, including the enjoyable interaction with Mr. Jules. While the price warrants saving it for special occasions, it would be even more enticing with a more extensive cocktail list. Overall, it's a trendy and sophisticated spot that delivers a memorable experience for those seeking upscale dining with excellent service.

A really funky vibe! The decor is amazing from the wall of lucky cats to the dining area downstairs. We celebrated our wedding anniversary here and the waiter was so friendly, providing us with complimentary mahjong tile dessert and even did a shot at the bar with us when leaving. Food is on the pricey side but the atmosphere is great for a special event.

HO Lee fook is my go to when ever friends ask me for places to eat and been coming for years. You get the full experience from food and drinks to a very vibey night. So happy they are back open for dinner! All those drinks and amazing food we had last night gave me flashbacks of when times were normal. Screw you covid. Must try the dumplings, prawn toast, wing bean salad, short rib and the Cheung fun. Oh and we had the special lobster dishh too 🤤

I visited with a couple of friends. We were greeted and seated immediately. We were given great wine recommendations even without knowing what we were going to order to eat. Our group had some food restrictions and our server was able to make recommendations to work around them. What we ended up getting were some of the most delicious small plates I've ever had. Word to the wise: bring a tiny flashlight if you have any issues seeing in low lighting. You won't regret it.

They don't take reservations for groups smaller than 5, they open at 6 pm and that's probably what has increased the popularity of this place located in SoHo... well that, and the fact that their Cocktails and Food is actually really delicious! The 4 of us tried to get in on a Tuesday night at 7:30 pm, and were told that there's an hour long wait to get in. We were starving a bit too much to even consider that. So we tried again on Wednesday, and I requested the team if they could get a table within 30 mins since it was my last evening in HK. There was still a 30 min wait, but we managed to get our table within 20 mins. Until then, we hung out at their small bar downstairs and ordered a few cocktails which included Sichuan Spiced Sour ($148) and Kowloon City ($128). Both were really amazing and whiskey lovers will love Sichuan Spice sour. My favorite was Kowloon City though - drink-wise! When we were seated we ordered a bottle of red and ordered a couple of things which included Chongqing-style chicken wings ($138), Roast Goose (half - $398), Black Angus beef tenderloin ($208), Grilled te mana Fatty Lamb Ribs ($298), and Roast Wagyu Short Rib ($558). Short ribs and the chicken wings were extremely flavour-full and I'd highly recommend both! Service was spot on, although noise levels were extremely high, thanks to the 2 extremely loud tables around us. A little too much wine, a little too much of annoying laughter and a little too loud music as the night started getting busy... but, we've all been there! Our total bill was just shy of $3700, but overall, we had a great experience!

Food was amazing, especially the curry beef clay pot! yummy 🤤 Staff are friendly and professional! The only thing I didn’t like is the loud music, I had to really concentrate to hear what the staff or even my friends were saying!

Great location, good decor super friendly staff. The snacks we had were fantastic( fried tofu and dumplings) and so was the char siu. Loved my desert which was another breakfast. It is pricy but come here for the theme and treat it as a novalty. I I think the rice was good but a little big for us. Was going to give this 4 stars, but the vibe and even has tipped this into a place just to try. best to book, great fun experience

The food is a '4' at best but this place gets an overall '5' because it fills a very specific niche - basically, one of the top three places in town to take a visitor who wants to have local cuisine but in an expat setting. Great vibe, location (with plenty of places for drinks before & after), and enough F&B variety to keep you satisfied. If you're nitpicking the roast meats used to be better, but still worth ordering. A place I come to regularly with out-of-towners but never with locals. Skip the wagyu chinese leeks.

  • 4/5 RH 1 year ago on Google
4.5 Atmosphere, kitsch, music, overall vibes is terrific. The food is good, it's just not a 5. The Wagyu stir fry, steamed garlic greens and salt and chili tofu were very good. Overall, worth a visit.

Good inventive Cantonese cuisine for a date night. For food, we ordered prawn toast, razor clams, and curry beef claypot. Prawn toast was literal perfection - must have. Razor clams was great, but difficult to eat - too big/expensive to chuck the whole thing in the mouth, but also not easy to slice when everything is set on the shell. Clams tasted from tasteless to squid. Garnish and sauce was bomb. The curry was decent as well. Portion of beef cheeks were insane. But youtiao (chinese donut/croissant) was too greasy and did not need to be double deepfried imo. Could have done with some eggplant or chinese veggies in the curry instead of potato wedges. But beef cheek was splendid and curry was a good spicy. Signature wagyu ribs were too expensive for us $1000+, and the portion of cha siu at another table looked wanting so we decided to get the beef cheeks. Drinks, a lucky buck (it came in a fortune cat cup!) and a mahjong marg. Drinks were $138HKD and cheaper than a $200HKD glass of bollinger. They weren't very memorable either, I would take some notes from other bars around town which although are proper bars, do have quite a solid, fixed cocktail menu. We would have just skipped drinks altogether if it weren't for the occassion. Complimentary mahjong tile cakes with a candle for partner's birthday. Shoutout to our server, a Chinese female, spoke great English and was very personable). Well, to add to that everyone else was just as super nice and helpful. Also, one comment on the acoustics and music choice. Space was quite crammed, so we could overhear other conversations throughout. Music was a little of 70s/80s, and in our opinion, did not lend much ambience. Decor was sickening good though.

The food reminds me of US chef Roy Choi's style (of Kogi fame)-- fusion with lots of intense flavors. It's very good, but dim and loud inside, and the price isn't cheap. Not that it's overly expensive, but be forewarned what you're getting into. And while most of the dishes were pretty good, a few were, well, not quite significant misses, but definitely underwhelming.

I'm torn. The food was different. I know it supposed to be different and Michelin *. I'm a Texan...so the noodle shop up the street for $12HKD did it for me. And the wait was almost 3hrs. Went for the name. Stayed for the food. High end food and deliciously cooked. Prawn toast and the crispy chicken were highlights. Dishes I'll remember for a long time. Desert was made with cornflakes and ice cream and fruit and was one of the best I've ever had.

Overall the salad and service is the only best thing about the meal. Very disappointed with the snapper. They over seasoned the fish that on it's own can taste amazing!

The place has a great atmosphere and the service is great, however the red snapper fish which is a particularly flavourful fish on it's own was way over seasoned and was a shame. House beer was quite nice.

Fantastic, the wagyu short rib is the real standout dish, Lamb dandan noodles are brilliant, and the Breakfast 2.0 is one of the only desserts I found in HK that I really loved. The service is always excellent, friendly, attentive and personal. I personally love the loud 80s music played through the night but this isn’t somewhere you want to go for a quiet dinner!
