Normal buffet you would expect at a 5 star hotel. The variety was definitely lacking given the limited space. Cold seafood was fresh but quite salty and flavorless. Hot dishes were limited to around 5-6; but most of them were generally well seasoned and cooked. Would not recommend the lamb and duck breast ( very chewy and overcooked). Prime rib was definitely the highlight of the buffet--well cooked to a medium-rare and not tough and chewy like other buffets. Would also recommend the slow cooked pork as it was also done to perfection. Other hot dishes like fried rice and noodles and soup were sub par. Finally...desserts are what the Mandarin Oriental are known for. I tried all the 20+ different desserts (including cakes, mousses, tarts, homemade chocolates, ice creams etc.). Food quality and taste was not exceptional so would not personally revisit. Price was acceptable around 800 + 10% like most other high end buffets in HK. Overall, I would recommend the buffet if you're not fussed about the variety of food (or you're particularly fond of desserts, especially cheesecakes!)

Just a tad disappointed because one naturally holds high expectations for a place like Mandarin Oriental. I sensed a hint of reluctance in the waiter when we asked for things like water. While the cake selection was delightful and very good, the egg tarts and pandan cakes were somewhat mediocre to be featured in a high tea there. The savoury sandwiches were average. Their signature scones were indeed good however, and the highlight of the tea set I think is the rose jam. The ambiance really is very good, and you can feel the civility of other patrons so the overall experience does meet the high standard of the mandarin oriental.

(Translated by Google) Flavorful afternoon tea Since they cannot travel abroad, all Hong Kong people are willing to spend money to enjoy it in high-end hotels, including me. I have tried the accommodation and lunch buffet experience at Karry Hotel last time, now I will taste the Oriental Mandarin afternoon tea which is not as well-known as to enjoy. On the Internet, many Chinese and foreign travelers or locals have always touted the afternoon tea at this hotel because of its signature muffins and rose jam. And my sister and I are willing to contribute to the revitalization of Hong Kong's economy (in fact, all for food>.<). First of all, as a five-star hotel, the environment, location and service are first-class. The interior decoration of the hotel has a strong oriental luxurious and elegant style, so it is very comfortable just to sit in the lobby. There are only two restaurants offering afternoon tea: Chlipper Lounge & Cafe Causettle. And we chose to stay at Chlipper Lounge because we can start earlier, from 2:30 to 6:00. In fact, neither restaurant has any window views, and the focus is on food. There will be regular desserts for this afternoon tea: 1963 Mandarin cheesecake, traditional muffin, raisin muffin, rose jam, butter cream and various sandwiches. There are many choices of tea. I chose Oriental Mandarin Tea. Later I regretted it because the flavor was too strong. I felt that I was drinking essence water. My younger sister chose hot chocolate milk. The taste was lighter, but it was acceptable. We guessed that the chocolate and cake were really greasy, so the hotel deliberately weakened the chocolate milk. The waiter first presented a three-tier cake stand. The first layer was 1963 Mandarin Cheesecake and Longming Grass Mango Passion Fruit Macaron. The second layer is red bean mochi, matcha red mulberry madeleine cake and yuzu white chocolate cream cake. The third layer is savoury, featuring various sandwiches: egg salad, crabmeat grapefruit flying fish roe crackers, smoked salmon cream cheese rye bread and roast beef teriyaki broccoli salad. Frankly speaking, the only three-layer desserts are cheesecake, cream cake and egg salad sandwiches, which are delicious. As for the others, they are just fine and satisfactory, but the smoked salmon cream cheese rye bread is unpalatable because the bread is very It is firm and tastes like eating brownie cake, while the smell of salmon seems to be there or not. I really don’t know what I am eating without looking at the menu. In addition, there is a plate of Japanese exquisite caramel pudding with black sesame chocolate, and the sweetness of the caramel pudding is just right. The sweetness of the caramel pudding is just right, and the sweetness of the caramel pudding is similar to that of macarons. The same "explosive light", unbearable! After eating the above three layers of food, my sister and I were actually full and had no appetite to cope with the next muffins. We had no choice but to eat our belly. So I think the order of serving dishes should be changed, after eating some muffins that are fuller, then dessert? ! When the rose jam came up, the color was a little strange, and there were microbubbles. It was different from the crimson red I saw on the Internet before, and it was indescribable! But jam is indeed full of very strong rose fragrance, and every bite feels like eating rose essence. The muffins are slightly hot, the taste is firmer than KFC's butter muffins, and the butter taste is lighter. Maybe because I'm full, I don't feel particularly delicious! To sum up, no matter which grade hotel's afternoon tea, it seems that appearance is better than connotation.

We had an exceptional dinner buffet experience at Clipper Lounge. The food was exquisite and delicious (lobster, Hainan Chicken rice, Mandarin Cheese Cake….). Also the Clipper Lounge team are remarkably attentive. Looking forward to come back again soon.

Went there for their dinner buffet. Only the vibe here worth the price. Very few choices of food as a buffet & food didn't even taste good.

We paid HK$1,253 for the Legendary Afternoon Tea at Mandarin Oriental for two people. That's about US$ 170. It fell completely short of expectations and was less than impressive. Only coffee or tea was offered as beverages. No crystal glass of chilled champagne or anything. The cappuccino was hot and had a deep aroma of fine coffee. The latte art was a failed attempt: what was supposed to be a heart shaped design looked more like the buttocks of a person with edema on one side (please see the photo). For the price we paid, I expected a far more professional display. It's really not that hard. The finger sandwiches were of minimally acceptable fillings (both in taste and quality) placed in low quality sandwich breads. No fresh cheese, no fresh tomatoes, no fresh fruit, no clotted cream and no freshly roasted nuts were provided. The pastries did not reach acceptable quality at all. Most bakeries in Hong Kong's MTR stations honestly beat the quality of the pastries we were served. The scones (traditional and raisin) were too dry and didn't appear freshly baked. Usually one finds at least two choices of jams and spreads. Here we got only one spread and whipped butter. The pastries that were supposed to have slightly crunchy granola toppings, had soggy granola. They didn't appear or taste fresh. We left more than half of the pastries at our table. The service was less than attentive. In fact, was it not for a young man from Turkey (Onur), I would have rated the service one out of five. Why? We were welcomed, seated and then promptly forgotten. It took several efforts and several minutes to get someone's attention to request a cup of hot water. Again, although Onur was not our waiter, he kindly brought hot water for us. The four people, seated next to our table, also had trouble getting their bill. The atmosphere was not fantastic at all. We were seated immediately adjacent to a concrete column. There were high windows a couple feet behind me and a couple feet behind my partner. Therefore we couldn't see the outside. Furniture is aged. All in all, a great disappointment.

The Clippers Lounge used to be my go-to for a proper afternoon tea for special occasions, but the service quality drop makes it not worthwhile any more. Sunday afternoon tea hours, busy, but not an excuse. 1. I went and was seated, a waitress came minutes later to bring me a glass of water. I then requested for warm water and she rolled her eyes and put a long face, AND my glass of water never came until I asked a second waiter. 2. Not sure if it's a seasonal menu or not but there's very few items with fresh fruits on. 3. The champagne pour was HALF glass. Not to mention we asked for Non vintage and they gave a vintage 2016 moet, didn't really pay attention when taking the order. The charms of this place are gone sadly. I had a wonderful birthday celebration with a big group there before covid and that was my best afternoon tea I've ever had in HK. The staff do not really serve, they look busy but not really delivering service up to the MO standard.

Disappointing buffet breakfast. The choice was ok from Chinese to western. Presentation was good. However the quality need to be improved. The skin of the dumplings was too thick and the fried dough was too oily. As a recommendation do cut the fried dough into smaller pieces as the dough is bigger than the bowl of congee. The service is good and very tentative. However the plates at times are not clean with spot of residuals left on the plate or little bowls where we put our sauces. The way how they serve the cheese is also interesting. There are no serving knives on the platter but there are plenty of knives on the jar which is strategically place near the cheese platter. I presume the hotel expects you to take the knife with you. Unfortunately, the first knife I picked up from the jar, it was used. I think next time I stick to Cafe Casuette for my breakfast! As a 5 star hotel, this is indeed surprising.

The dinner buffet is overpriced, the food is generally okay but far from good. Only a few selection of food. The sashimi is not fresh and smell bad. Lobsters are second graded. Only 3 to 4 hot food served and taste so so. Service and dessert are good though.

Superlative: the best scones in Hong Kong (perhaps beyond). Not those trendy dainty one but proper traditional scones as it should be. Fluffy, light and buttery. I know this is better than anywhere else, because it is. Served with Mandarin Oriental signature rose petal jam and real clotted cream from Cornwall. Smoky Lapsang Souchong is my choice of tea to wash it all down. I would be easily happy to tea alone with this combination at Clipperslounge, though I wasn't.

Went for afternoon tea. Food was good especially the scones! Service was subpar. Waitress asked what tea would I like without giving me the menu... Then I asked oh what can I choose from then she slowly walked away and brought me the menu... Waitress was annoyed when I asked to refill water. I said thank you and her replied was uh huh

When it comes to afternoon tea, my absolute favorite is The Mandarin Oriental. Perhaps it's because I have a preference for scones and savory treats over cakes, and The Mandarin Oriental excels in both their sandwiches and scones! The desserts paired with the tea set this time were perfect for the summer season, predominantly featuring fruity flavors that were pleasantly tangy and sweet, without being overly saccharine. The portions of their desserts are generous, not bite-sized miniatures, so they are meant for sharing rather than each person having their own portion. In the case of an odd number of guests, such as my party of three, the third person can only choose three out of the five desserts included in the tea set. An additional highlight was the dessert trolley, where each person could select an extra sweet treat. We opted for the dried fruit white chocolate, truffle chocolate, and red bean mochi, and all three were delightful. We also ordered a chocolate as a birthday cake, and it was incredibly rich. After indulging in it, a cup of tea was necessary before continuing with the other delights from the tea set. Regarding the beverages, the iced chocolate was mildly flavored, not as prominent compared to the tea and sweets. The service at the Clipper Lounge was impeccable, and the staff made us feel warm and welcomed. Although the ambiance had a slightly dated charm, especially when compared to more modern establishments, I still consider it my preferred destination for afternoon tea among the many options available.

Lunch buffet at Clipper Lounge is a treat - food is very good, I especially enjoyed the selection of sea food, sushi and sashimi which goes beyond of what you find at other lunch buffets. I also enjoyed the selection for cheese and bread. The highlight was the desert with the signature cheesecake, other cakes and pies were amazing as well, including the very nice pecan pie. The venue was nice but nothing outstanding. Will go there again for the food for sure.

Wonderful buffet breakfast. Superb Chinese selections, yummy dimsum, congee and soup noodles aside from hot viands. Crusty beef croquettes, melt in your mouth pork puffs, Really crispy American bacon, juicy Canadian bacon, honey glazed ham from the carving table, cooked to order ORGANIC eggs, plethora of fruits, still and sparkling water, soy and other milk choices. If only my stomach had more space😬

Clipper Lounge has a timelessly elegant feel. Clipper Lounge is best known for afternoon tea. Elegantly presented, the spread includes delicacies such as finger sandwiches, sweets, scones and our signature homemade rose-petal jam. We also offer extremely popular seasonal themed teas.

After much research, we decided to choose Mandarin Oriental's Clipper Lounge dinner buffet to celebrate a family members birthday. This is a good option if you mainly like seafood. There is an oyster platter per table and at the buffet there are unlimited crab legs, lobster, abalone, prawns and clams. There is not much variety of other foods compared to other luxury 5 star hotels. I have had better variety at Cordis and Icon's lunch buffet. Dessert variety is decent and there was a good festive selection as Christmas was just around the corner. Althought the restaurant is small with less buffet counters than other hotels, the restaurant does manage the number of people, flow and availability of food relatively well. Disappointed that no soft drinks were available in the price of the buffet. Only one tea/coffee per person included. Service was below par and was noticeably below expectations for the price we paid for a prestigious hotel. Waiters showed lack of emotion and enthusiasm. Delivered the incorrect drinks order, did not make an effort with the birthday cake celebration, did not find an appropriate solution to incorrect menu online stating hairy crab per table, charged the wrong price for buffet on payment as the website displayed the incorrect price. Please be aware of the website menu as Mandarin Oriental do not update their menu and the contents and price is not reflective of what is being sold which I found very poor of a brand such as Mandarin Oriental. Overall, seafood and dessert variety is good however, aspects such as variety of food, service and accuracy of online information is below the expected standard. There are definitely better hotel dinner buffets in HK at the other luxury hotels.

Great service, large selection of great desserts, and fresh/high quality seafood/sashimi for the brunch, but the rest was a tiny bit disappointing. Maybe I was expecting too much? The salad bar/roast beef/cheese/bread selection were a bit of a letdown and the buffet overall felt much smaller than expected. At this price level I was expecting something a bit more exciting. Sashimi were great but sushis were less attractive. But in general it was a great experience and the staff is very attentive, which is why I leave 5 stars. Go there if you are a seafood/dessert lover!

Good service, but food not so many to choose, the salad bar~ no Parma Ham, a little bit disappointed, the bread not attractive, the Oyster very small, the ice cream was very very yummy, specially the passion fruit taste good and very fresh. The crab congee pretty good, better than drink those others soup, have two curly crad for everyone, that is a good privilege. Thank you for my birthday day offer.

Brunch - hkd 748 per person. Overall not worth the price and many better choices out there at this price. Very small buffet area and limited choice of food. Does not really convey the type of relaxing and chill atmosphere for Sunday brunch and you will keep bumping into people. No drink except for a tea/ coffee included and a make your own bloody Mary. Oyster take to the table at 2 per person at a time and you are not allowed to get more in one go. Oyster and cold seafood below average. Not many choices of hot food. The hainanese chicken was good. A number of small dessert to try and they are decent. The green tea ice cream was good.

A decent lunch place around central for a official meeting. It's a bit on the higher end considering MO. The food was quite good thanks to the bento menu. But MO needs to upgrade it's restaurant and lounge as they give a bit oldish feel. Limited vegetarian options in the traditional menu. Thanks to their bento menu I could devour good veg food.

Their signature rose petal jam with scone is a must try! It is the highlight of the whole afternoon tea. Generally speaking the afternoon tea set was palatable. The savoury ones (ie. tea sandwiches) were fine and ordinary, but the sweet ones were quite a disappointment for a 5-star hotel. Among all sweet items, I would only give their signature cheesecake a second bite.

  • 2/5 Irene L. 3 years ago on Google
I love the signature scone which comes with rose petal jam - only if it’s served hot and fresh. I had bad experience recently. Firstly, the napkin was dirty which is totally unacceptable. Secondly, the scone was a bit warm and hard. That means it had been either being warmed for long time or reheated a couple of times. I did complain about that. The waiter had changed another set of scone which was totally different - hot, soft and fluffy. It’s totally unacceptable that a five star hotel restaurant will serve such kind of quality scone while they product cost is minimal. And the dirty napkin was disgusting. That is unbelievable!

We came for afternoon tea. The scones with the rose jam were fabulous and the fresh mango in the coronation chicken sandwich was a great touch. The roast beef sandwich could have used a little more horse- radish and the mixed berry tart wasn't really a tart and I found it a little dense. The staff service was excellent. They were very attentive. One suggestion I would have for them is to serve the blooming tea in a glass pot so the full effect can be seen. Overall a really great tea with good atmosphere and friendly staff!

They have the best scone in Hong Kong, so buttery and fluffy! And I loved their jam and butter cream served with the scone too! We've ordered the forest inspired afternoon tea set for two and all the items were very nice. They didn't only focus on the dessert items, the savoury ones were super nice too. I have to say I loved the chocolate plant most especially the crunchy chocolate eggs on it! Not to mention that their customer service was perfect, all the staffs were well trained and very helpful.

The steamed lobsters with only meat left (or its the norm now?). Not much attracting hot food choice. Ummm but i would still give 3stars for birthday dinner as the roasted beef and dessert bar were good.

***Out of the world SERVICE; Top class SEAFOOD*** Previously when I enjoyed the buffets at places such as Cafe TOO, JW Cafe, Cafe 103, etc., I found the Staff/Service to be the BEST possible. But the STAFF AT CLIPPER LOUNGE TAKE IT TO A WHOLE NEW LEVEL which is beyond the BEST ❤️ ....so, we may have to coin a new word to describe them ⭐️ 👍🏻. The staff always kept us engaged but not so much that would seem invasive....just enough to feel pampered.😊 Whenever I turned my head to ask a question, it seemed like they were standing there waiting for me .... I LOVE THAT!😍 But, you can’t judge a book by its cover so we need to see what’s inside .....i.e. THE FOOD of course 😋 WHAT AWESOME OYSTERS!!😋 There were Oysters from three different regions and among them the best ones were the Brittany (French) and Scottish Rock. I think I ate A DOZEN of them by myself .... NOT KIDDING 😁. In general, all of their SEAFOOD was A grade.... I also ate the PRAWNS, SHRIMP and the LOBSTER👍🏻. Didn’t have any capacity left for the CRABS.... maybe next time! The staff also informed us of a special dish being prepared in the Kitchen - Australian BEEF cooked a perfect MEDIUM!! It was not in the buffet and they brought it straight from the kitchen.... it was nicely chewy and the sauce was very tasty! I’m thankful that I was informed about it.😊 In addition, I also tried (and LOVED), the BEEF NOODLES, FRIED RICE, PAN FRIED SALMON, STIR-FRIED PRAWNS. After eating so much food, I had no room for dessert..... BUT the dessert section looked so yummy... that I just went for it anyway 🤣🤣!! It’s definitely not a cheap dinner buffet.... but judging by the attentive staff, the awesome seafood, it’s clearly worth every cent!!⭐️

Sunday Brunch Buffet, around 100USD. Staff are very polite and helpful. But food was just soso. Seafood were tasteless despite the many choices, like being rinsed with water until all favours are gone. Other hot dishes are not attractive, either. Dessert is the only silver lining. But overall CP is low.

(Translated by Google) The place is small, so small, like the environment of a coffee shop, not really beautiful, the service can be polite, you can serve oysters as soon as you sit down, the food style is small, and the dessert style is more. In terms of seafood, long-legged crab It's finer, but the taste is considered umami. The lobster is really bad. It has deteriorated the taste of white chicken, it is frozen and hard, and has zero taste. 🥲🥲🤧🤧, the price is enough to go once, even after the trial (Original)
