But, why is it Michelin 1-star? 🤔 Overhyped w/ 1-star service. First try and may not return.. Though their yakitori made with various body parts of a chicken may be rare in the local dining scene, the taste did not wow us, and I believe that there are many more kushiyakis in HK with similar or even better offerings. We were instead taken aback by their poor service. We were the first on the waiting list only to know that another party behind us had been arranged seats before we were. It was because not all of our party was present, which was understand, but which we had not been informed of; staff didn't even ask when our companions would arrive. Not a great start of a night, but service throughout the meal was just as uncool. Staff picked up our plates one second they were emptied - efficient as you may call it, but we found it stressful and too much in a hurry. Food was alright, we liked the [ chicken meatballs ] and [ clams yaki soba ] in particular. However, not recommended for people who dislike cracking your voice amid loud music, and people who value service at a restaurant. 〔 Follow me on instagram @sikbaobaola ! ^^ 〕

Hard to book and only allow 1.5 hr seating! Apparently if you do not book the first round many food will sold out by the second round seating. Well worth the price, good vibe, everything is tasty, service great. Must try (based on the limited items we have tasted) is the meal ball and sweetcorn ball. 1.5 hours is more than enough for us, as service is quick and we tried everything we wanted to already within that time.

Delicious but overpriced skewers. The ones with tare are really salty, as well as the brussel sprouts with black garlic sauce (had to as the server to get a replacement order with much reduced sauces). Agree with most other comments, that this place is great for drinks and chatting, but the food is definitely over priced for what you get, feel like the quality could be improved, especially on the saltiness control- really wondered if the chefs had tasted all the good they produced.

(Translated by Google) Japanese cuisine restaurant, chicken specialties, cooked with different types of cooking and proposed in every possible part. We tasted a dozen dishes with an unexpected satisfaction: all really very good! Fast service, considering that all dishes are freshly made, kindness. The only small drawback is the noise that accompanies dinner, not suitable for a romantic or business meeting, but the substance invites you to return (Original) Trattoria di cucina giapponese, specialità pollo, cucinato con diverse cotture e proposto in ogni parte possibile.

When my husband asked what I wanted my first dinner in HK to be when I got out of my QO, I immediately had yard bird on my mind. However, we weren’t lucky enough to find a good timing in terms of reservation, and only made it to the second one at 10pm, so most of the stuff we wanted to try was sold out- like the Inner thigh and oysters Yakitori and the chicken sando. ☹️ The interior was spacious, with ample space between each tables, even though it was crowded it felt comfortable. We were greeted with a loud atmosphere and had to readjust ourselves for awhile, after being settled for abit, the loud atmosphere turn into background noise and wasn’t much of a problem. We started off with the corn tempura, the batter was light and crispy, seasoned with sea salt and pepper. It was followed by the Yakitoris - Which we ordered meatball yakitori & thigh yakitori. The meatball yakitori is served with dipping sauce of tare and egg yolk - this was hands down the best thing so far. The meat was soft and tender, nothing you expect out of a typical meatball. The exterior of the meatball was painted with light grill marks that was met with a nice crispy charred taste. We then had thigh Yakitori (no pictures), that was seasoned and dribbled with Tokyo negi and tare. We had fried chicken as a finisher, which was served with a side of garlic kewpie mayo and lemon. Yummy sauce and the fried chicken was bite sized, it was a little too much fried food for us but the sauce made it so addictive. Overall, really good experience for quality food and would come back again especially to try the things that were sold out.

A fully chicken orientated eatery, wonderful to go with the wine & spirits; beer of course. Watch out for the anticipated sold out hot items, do order early.

The aroma of each skewer make its so mouthwatering when dishes are served. But you also really taste the flavors from cooking over charcoal. My personal favorite is the corn tempura and KFC, unique twist which i’ve only seen at this restaurant. For skewers they have a variety of unique chicken cuts worth trying especially ventricle and neck skin. For less adventurous eater the meatball is a must. More on the pricier side ($5xx-8xx/pp) but worth trying. However drinks/cocktail wise would skip on it.

Always my fav Friday night place, good vibes good food good people. My MUST order here is fruit tomato salad, the fresh yuba is just so yum, shiso was on point! Don’t miss the liver mousse too, so good! Yakitori chicken oyster, meatball and gizzard are my fav. Tried their specials that night, Lo Mai Gai gang (糯米雞) wow pretty good!! I usually order the sweet corn tempura, clams soba and chicken and egg rice too, but prob too much for two pax, next time!

Yardbird is popular and hot. It has innovative menu and drinks, and it is buzzing with people. I got a reservation for Friday night and it is packed, all the tables are close together and it is very loud music in there. You can barely hold a conversation, and shoulder to shoulder with strangers. I enjoyed the skewers, they’re pricey but well seasoned and juicy. A few cool dishes. I was taken surprise by the “KFC” (fried Cauliflower) and enjoyed the meatball. Order anything you want early as more and more items get sold out as the night draws on. Some servers are nice but they remind you a few times that my table time ends by X time. We had plenty of time but I did not enjoy the reminders. They’d also whisk the plates from you as soon as they’re emptied. Overall, it’s cool experience where the kitchen is in view, roaring behind you, and the vibe is very young and hip. It’s not the authentic Japanese experience though, it is a bit fusion, “white”.

The corn tempura is a must have! Chicken liver mousse is great with the toasted brioche. Chicken oysters are juicy and tender. I really enjoyed the clam noodles, the clams were cooked to perfection. The issue I have with Yardbird is that the restaurant is that everything is a bit too loud so it’s hard to have a conversation.

The yakitori was great, service was excellent (was served by a short lady, she explained the menu well for us, gave us free shichimi sachet as gift as well). Recommend the ume and inner thigh, oyster and meatball. As for sides, the tomato salad and fried cauliflower is lovely. Nice place to hangout with friends. Downside is the exorbitant price… but overall great experience

Totally worth the hype. Best yakitori in town I've tried. Amazingly, many "unusual" parts of the chicken are served.

Excellent for anything and such kind of Michelin restaurants is out of my cognitive about how a star restaurant should be. And they can offer hibiki 21&17. It was a surprise for me.

Food, drinks, service and ambiance are all on point! Fillet, Breast and Thigh are extremely juicy and charred to perfection. Ate so much... still can't wait to be back! Get a whiskey lemonade.. refresh and turn up at the same time.

What a great meal! We went to a bar in central to kill 90 minutes while we waited for a call to be seated, but it was worth it. Yakitori was great, especially the meatball and thigh meats. Next time, I’ll skip the breast to save room for the more flavorful stuff. If you’ve never tried liver, this is a good place to try it! Also highly recommend the scotch egg and corn tempura.

Love the bird. Great concept and atmosphere! The chicken sausage and corn tempura are signature menu items. Must try. Don’t be shy to try all different parts of the chicken though. Not to mention the fantastic selection of highballs and attentive customer service!

  • 5/5 2 years ago on Google
Busy Japanese skewer restaurant, better make reservation. It is a cosy place. Kick start with highball. It is a limited version with shake Shack is 50-50 instead of soda. Very nice but overpriced. For skewers, my picks are: Must have : Neck skin (ran out in 30 minutes), meat ball, Umi thigh, oyster, thyroid ( also ran out in 30 minutes) and wing tip(it is like skin) Overall highly recommended. Enjoy!

  • 5/5 Lisa L. 3 years ago on Google
Great Yakitori. My favorite is the corn and chicken skin. the best grilled chicken skin i have ever had. the meat ball is a bit too salty so the egg dip does not need the sauce with it. still good though. Great service received here. food comes out quick.

  • 5/5 Mandy C. 2 years ago on Google
Must try the oyster, tender and very juicy! Ask try the neck and thyroid, sounds weird but they sold out early. I love the sweetcorn ball and Korean bbq style cauliflower, doesn’t taste like veggie at all! 😋

  • 5/5 Kath 2 years ago on Google
Loved the vibe and food here. Surprisingly lots of good options for vegetarians. Tempura corn and KFC (Korean fried cauliflower) in particular were amazing - a must order. Sweet potato gyoza was also very interesting. Great selection of wine, cocktails, sake and beers too. Though it’s challenging to get a booking and on the expensive side, it’s well worth it. Will definitely be back!

  • 5/5 Jean L. 2 years ago on Google
A bit pricy but worth every penny. Must try - oyster, wings and meatballs yakitori. But the sando & KFC for me was the best ! You can probably skip the fish.

Japanese skewer is very much in fashion now and skewer restaurants are ubiquitous. This restaurant is renowned after being ranked as Michelin one-star. For your first-time visit, please note that its main entrance locates at Wing Lok Street. The barbecued chicken in Japanese style is not made of frozen meat, but fresh ones. You will not taste the taste of frozen food but the unique amour of barbecued food. The tender of inner meat can be maintained when its juicy texture has been locked by its crispy layer. Its spice is on good balance. The sweet corn tempura can be served in half-set (HKD60 for 2 pieces) but not shown on the menu, better ask the waiters. Its signature dishes include the meatball served with fresh egg yolk and thyroid. The latter one is rare in other restaurant of same kind but always flies off the shelves. Japanese high-ball is the perfect match for its food.

Get ready for the yakitori hype train, featuring the quirkiest cuts of 🐓 – flipped through the book, and now we're livin' the grill life! Weekends here? Forget about it – the queues are practically the eighth wonder of the world! What's on my plate, you ask? Thyroid Chicken oyster Achilles Ventricle Clams miso soba And let's not forget the Fernet Hunter Highball – it's a taste bud fiesta! Thanks for keeping the good times rollin'

Consistently faultless - I have a list of favourite dishes and have never gone wrong, on top of cheerful, helpful and personality-filled service. The meatball (shown), bicep, oyster and liver are favourites from the yakitori menu; and the chicken skin rice, and fried cauliflower is a must order. They do get busy so recommend booking but I’ve also walked in (early) and been seated. If you’re eating as a pair, some of their more popular menu items come available in a half-serving size so that you can try more things!

  • 4/5 Giovanni D. 2 years ago on Google
Quite a nice experience, the food is undoubtedly very good. The meatball skewers were very tasty as was the frid rice. That spicy seasoning is awesome! I stole all the packets i found in the bill! Overall very nice, a bit pricey.

  • 5/5 Aysa C. 1 year ago on Google
Cool vibe. Succulent skewers served. Love the varieties. Flavourful seasonings and fresh meats used. Tho would prefer to be seated at the front hall, with taller tables and bar. The one at the back with open kitchen was quite smokey. Got a small sachet each of their spices when we checked out. Will definitely come back for dishes that I didn’t get to try this time!

Yakitori at it’s best. Flavor, presentation, ambience, service, all top notch. There is no doubt why this resto is Michelin 1 star recommended. Chicken wings and meat balls, seemingly simple dishes, will wow and surprise you with exquisite flavor and texture. Excellent attentive but unobtrusive service makes it perfect catching up with friends or business meetings. Highly recommended.

For this price and environment I expect better food. Have tried many yakitori places in HK and Japan. The food here is lacking personality. Good meat quality but plain. Didn’t bring out the flavor. However, the ice cream sandwich is really good. The balance of the salty caramel and sweet soft ice cream is so perfect.

  • 5/5 Julien G. 3 years ago on Google
Don’t torture yourself about whether to go: it’s a must try! Everything was delicious, the yakitori but all the sides alike. The cooking and flavors were memorable - such as the service, big up to Mike.

Yardbird is known for its yakitori cuisine. The dishes are small and the place is kind of expensive (500hkd per person) but I always find the experience to be phenomenal. Order the meatballs, the fried cauliflower and the corn 🌽 dish. Those are all very popular and different from what you will ever taste anywhere else. This place is perfect for occasions as it has a great vibe. First date /anniversary/ Sophisticated night out with friends.

  • 5/5 Ajay P. 3 years ago on Google
Absolute triumph, I went with a big Happy Valley group, I was expecting very little for vegetarians. Turns out I was wrong. The sake was perfect for our food, the Korean fried cauliflower was my favourite sticky, crispy coated soft but spicy inner cauliflower, next favourite is the Brussel sprouts, followed by the mushroom rice, lots of pickles, all finished with a great popcorn ice-cream. My HV friends loved the place. A must visit. Great service by Kenneth, Sum and Radhika. Expect to pay good money, it is an expensive night out. Cannot understand why the restaurant would not celebrate, promote and even develop its veggie dishes as they are fantastic and deserve more menu space.

It's a 'modern' type yakitori place. The skewers are really good, nicely seasoned and grilled. The flavors are punchy and strong. The table service is also actually pretty good. The staff are attentive, fast & efficient. Only 4 stars because the place is actually rather pricey for yakitori, however worth a visit.

  • 4/5 Suchetana 3 years ago on Google
Great yakitori options, good for a casual night-out. Loved the neck, skin and meatball skewers in particular. The sweet corn tempura was nice too - sweet, crunchy, though a tad crumbly. They also have a good selection of Japanese beers. They don't take reservations though, and when I reached at 6pm (when the restaurant opens), there was already a bit of a queue.

Great food! Highly recommend esp. the oyster and Achilles! I heard that a chicken only has two pieces of the oyster... Very tender and juicy! Clean (ventilation was so good that I left without smelling like smoke) and comfortable (very spacious seating). The waitress was very sweet and definitely knew how to recommend items catered to our taste! If you're confused about the skewers definitely ask them for help!
