This place was highly over rated in my opinion. The ambience was grand, however to pay over AU$260 per head for the chefs menu was not worth it. Perhaps the ala cart would have been a better choice? The portions were small, the wait in between dishes was long, the service was horrible - none of the servers made eye contact or came to check on us. Our dessert was forgotten and we waited for 40 minutes thinking it was going to come. We had to remind the waiter and he apologised and dessert came shortly after but it was nothing special. When it came to paying, the host didn’t even asked how our experience was so we left a feedback card with the hotel instead. We left hungry and really disappointed as we thought this was a highlight of our trip to Hong Kong. Not a great experience and I do not recommend this place.

after long while now that travel between hong kong and shenzen is open decided to try my old favorite dim sum place Shang Palace at Shangri La. It was rather disappointing , place half empty none of the waiter spoke any english at all anymore ; the food take awful long to come out, half the order came late the rest later. as an experience it lost its appeal and the food is somehow not up to the taste and standard it used to be. Most annoying at 2 pm they turn the aircon off it’s getting too hot to stay and their buffet dim sum closes at 14:30 pm that’s absolutely mean!I think need to look for an alternative for my next shenzen visit

Having tried Summer Palace and Hung Tang (Red Sugar), both highend Chinese restaurants from the Shangri-la chain, we decided to try Shang Palace. Decor was along the classic lines of Summer Palace but smaller and less interestingly shapped windowless rectangle. Service was courteous and attentive. Food was on par with other two, tasty, good quality and nicely presented, but led down badly by one dish, the pan fried dumplings. Filling was dry and tasteless, dough skin thick and chewy. It would not be acceptable in lesser restaurants let alone a Michelin starred one. The Yinyang pudding was tasty and interestingly presented. Price was nearly eye watering commensurate with its Michelin status rather than with the food.

Shang Palace was my last meal in HK before heading home. The decor is dated and frozen in time. It is typically Chinese design and even the lightings evinced an old HK charm. It sure can do be with a makeover. But the customer service is truly par excellent. The staffs made an extra effort to please and are attentive to our needs. Every dish is a delight. We had dim sum. The usual rice roll with char siew. Every bite is a savory delight. The appetizer is the peppery roasted cashew nuts. It is awesome. We also had the carrot cake fried in XO sauce. The Char Siew Chan Bao, Fried Pork Dumpling and for dessert, I had the red bean paste infused with orange peel. The food quality is amazing. The carrot cake is fried just right. There is a house specialty whereby there is an edible fried leaf. Overall it is an enjoyable experience. I will definitely make a return visit.

Definitely need to try the famous fried rice; will not be disappointed. However please do not mind the service standard here at the time when there is an outbreak with less attentive altitude. The walnut sweet desert would be better if it was not watery.

The food is quite a let-down. Nice presentation but the flavor is just not there. The shiitake-shaped egg custard buns are served cold. Rate 4 stars only for the nice decor and great service.

This is by far, the worst Chinese restaurant I have ever been to. Disgrace to Chinese cuisine, the staff still have the cheek to ask if the food is nice. Maybe you should try your own food. How they even managed to clinch a Michelin star or even 2 is beyond my understanding. Food was either cold, too salty and just gross.

Excellent Cantonese cuisine. Love their BBQ pork and drunken pigeon. The fried crab shell is also very good. All dishes are great.

(Translated by Google) 2019.11.09 Lunch dim sum for two. Well, I've been to Michelin dim sum all over the place. Not only the buildings but also the guests come, like the Apgujeong modern department store, it feels old but luxurious. The restaurant is also delicious without bubbles in the price. There's no nice view because there's no window, but I love everything except that. I do not recommend it to tourists, but I would recommend it to locals.

A great restaurant with great decor, great service and most of all, good food! Ordered a few veggie dishes, and they tasted exceptionally good! The one that looked like sweet-and-sour pork was actually Sweet and Sour Gluten! Fulfilled 色 + 香 + 味! My friends did order other popular dishes... I heard they say: good, good and good.

Best honey sauce barbecued pork I’ve ever had! Crispy pork belly is also very well cooked, and the seafood rice in lobster broth is amazingly delicious! The only downside is the crispy beef brisket is too dry and kinda lack of flavor, but the other 3 dishes we ordered were beyond wonderful so I would still give it 5 stars. Plus, the service is very attentive.

This a very expensive restaurant. However it did live up to its price tag. The service was excellent and staff paid extra attention to detail. The ambient was luxurious and clean. The food was delicious. The snow bbq pork buns are much better here than at Tim Wan Ho.

Went here ages ago when executive Sous Chefs Elvis Chen from Taipei and Max Wang from Tainan were guest chefs to showcase their signature Taiwanese delicacies available on both the à la carte and set menus. All the dishes were beautifully executed and delicious.

(Translated by Google) To be honest, as a restaurant that won the Michelin two-star restaurant, the dishes of the Shang Palace are a bit exaggerated. The eight-course dishes all night, can not tell any surprises, the most delicious thing for friends is the walnut pre-dinner. The suckling pig is fragile, but it is not necessarily suitable for the truffles, but it is a bit greasy. The crabs are full of glutinous rice, but the crab meat that is full of diarrhea does not have the savory taste. The shrimp ball is cool, but the hot sauce on it is like the bean paste of the general estate restaurant, just a salty and spicy taste. The goose liver comet spot is even more difficult. The rich foie gras is served with the oyster sauce and the mushroom, which also grabs the umami taste of the star spot. The decoration of Shang Palace is magnificent, but it lacks the elegance that a noble restaurant should have. It only feels that the whole restaurant is infiltrated with the traditional big family, but it does not feel the ingenuity.

It's used to be my favourite restaurant serving good quality peking duck and stuffed sea whelk. Having returned from overseas living in a lapse of few years, we re-visited this restaurant again for family re-union. The staff were friendly and attentive provided excellent service as they did previously. The food standard was however a bit on the down side. The peking duck was a little dry. The sea whelk was stuffed with too much sauce. The dim sum dishes in general were delicious. However, the beef balls were hard and bouncy. Texture liked fish balls that I would not consider as good. The lau sha buns were not runny. They were just ordinary custard Buns. Not impressive. We were disappointed. With the price paid, we would consider exploring some other options.

I re-visited this restaurant again for lunch after a few years. The lady staff was friendly & attentive provided excellent service as they did previously. The food standard was however a bit on the down side. Steamed pork dumplings was tasteless. Baked abalone puff was fine but nothing special. Pan-fried bean curd sheet roll with shrimps, the bean curd sheet was not crispy but chewy. Deep-fried garoupa fillets with salted egg yolk & Sautéed chicken fillets with peppercorn were both tasty & yummy, per hotel standard. Soup noodles with shrimp dumplings, the dumplings were tasteless & noodles were too soft. I don’t like the mangoes inside the mango pudding dessert, it was very very sour & the pudding itself was a bit hard. This place is highly over rated in my opinion.
