This is the kind of restaurant you'll rarely find even in Japan. I first heard about it last July or August, through a recommendation from Shelly. At that time, I had no idea how to go about making a reservation, but I was finally able to secure a date as soon as I got some tips from Valerie about the process, which is pretty much a well-kept secret. But the reservation will generally be about 3-4 weeks ahead. This restaurant specializes in Japanese sake. Their main selling point is not their food, but rather their sake menu, and their dishes are prepared with seasonal ingredients to complement the sake. I personally prefer wine over sake, and never really found sake to be all that appealing. But who would've thought that my encounter with this restaurant, in Hong Kong nontheless, to completely change my opinion about sake! Rare sake, bottled directly in Japan, was so delicious, and served at the perfect temperature, and the burst of flavor in my mouth almost felt like flowers blooming with each sip (my personal expression). Some types were served cold, and others served hot, but all were just perfect. It wasn't just the sake or the food that really impressed me though. Their plateware is quite maniac. I had some interesting conversations during my meal, but the owner of the restaurant, Mr. Kojima, is quite the enthusiast of valuable items. Some of the plates used to serve their food is over 100 years old, and I would hate to imagine the kind of trouble you would be in if you were to break, or damage one of them! Mr. Kojima closed his former restaurant in Tokyo and moved to Hong Kong, with the wish to spread his love for Japanese sake. I was really impressed with his story, and truly felt like I wanted to continue supporting his restaurant. It's really great to know that there are restaurants like this with so much dedication and soul, and I hope to keep coming back here.

Nice dining experience with sake pair. A special Japanese restaurant to try if you are getting bored with sushi and sashimi. The dishes are made from seasonal ingredients which are perfectly matched with the selected sake. Really like their menu which show where the ingredients came with map and pictures. A must try restaurant if you are a sake lover.

It's definitely one of the beat restaurant in town! It's a hidden gem that not everyone knows. It doesn't come with fancy interior and luxury decoration. Yet, all the dishes are filled with inspiration and ideas. Highly recommend for all food lovers.

Absolutely loved this place. There is only limited place. A room that can sit 4 to 8 people. There are a few seats in the counter, and a table for 2. Decorations are simple but brilliant. The sake pairing with food is amazing. There is a lot of thoughts put into the menu. The presentation is brilliant. The price is on the expensive side but worth every penny.

This hidden gem is one of the best Japanese restaurant experiences I’ve had in HK. Felt like I was in Japan. The restaurant is tucked away in a small alley just off of Kau Yu Fong. The entrance is rustic and minimal, yet contemporary and quintessentially modern Japanese. The sake pairing was superb and the dishes were innovative and beautifully plated. My favorite dishes were the abalone, the anko fish liver, and the sweet potato/beet/thousand year old egg creme brûlée. Owner and sake master Goshima Shinya was super nice. One thing worth mentioning is all the beautiful pottery they serve with. They were absolutely beautiful. Will certainly come back for more.

A very nice dining experience with a wide range of Sake pairing. The chef Mr Shinya is a Saké master. He explains every pairing in details with heart and innovation. The botanchi soup, shirako (soft cod roe) and the anoimo creme brulee were the highlights. Thanks Mr Shinya and the team for such a memorable night!

It was one of the most unique dining experience we've had in a while. Everything was great. Especially appreciate the sake pairing. Extremely difficult to get a booking but well worth it.

Great sake and food pairing experience. Different from typical omakase as it focused on different way of cooking and not raw fish and rice. Service is very on point. One star off is it closes sharply at around 10 and not much of communication with chef. Spending around HKD 2,500 pp.

Seasonal menu and every dish is delicious and perfectly paired with different glasses of sake. The chef is very attentive and clearly explain every dish. Really love the abalone risotto, grilled and fried Ayu, and uni congee.
