Well, location is nice,it's homely I got the feeling that I went back in time when I stepped into the temple,I really enjoyed my time here it was beautiful, cozy, environmental friendly, although my sole purpose was to see big Buddha I was utterly disappointed to see it under construction it really killed the motive of been there but I didn't let it stop me from enjoying the view and take a dive into the Chinese culture and history All overall I loved it

I came here through the cable car and was blown away for the scale, beauty, and energy of this fantastic place. This place was one of my top place during my HK visit. You will see the magnificent buddha statue, a nice touristic town and temples. To come here, I took the cable car (long lines!) to the village and walk up to the buddha.

Visited this beautiful place a few times with my family many years ago. Amazing that it is so well maintained. You don't have to be a Buddhist to enjoy the serenity of this mountainous area. I am not. It was a weekday that we visited. So the queue for the cable car was not very long. Please buy tickets online as it is much cheaper than buying on location. The cafe desserts were delightful. I particularly liked the soya beancurd. They accept only cash payments. Don't forget to take a stroll to the Wisdom Path.

Also known as the Big Buddha this is located on Lantau Island and is the tallest outdoor seated Buddha statue in the world, measuring 34 metres (112 feet) in height and weighing over 250 tonnes. It is made made of 202 bronze pieces and was cast using the lost wax method. It overlooks the Po Lin Monastery and the South China Sea. We loved the cable car down from the mountain.

Breathtaking! It's enormity can be seen from afar - wether you hike, drive, or take the gondola up. Sadly closed for maintenance when I went so I couldn't get closer. But it also meant hardly any other visitors.

This place is so wonderful it takes your breath away! The walk to the Big Buddha and its majestic steps are a true journey. The surrounding areas are astonishingly beautiful as well. I definitely recommend visiting this marvelous place, full of history and incredible monuments. The cable car ride is fun and it is an experience you will never forget. This has definitely been a memorable experience - my pictures can tell a better story! Love this place.

The Tian Tan Buddha is one of the greatest tourist attractions to visit. Even for the tourists who comes in China for the first time, i really recommended to give it a try. There is a village nearby where you can buy souvenirs from the shops. The Tian Tan Buddha is surrounded by mountains, landscapes and nearby statues, with stairs leading up to the Buddha. The architecture is great and interesting. Strongly recommended!

Are you ready for the challenge just to view this Big Buddha? Such a treat once you reach the top and see it up close! Fresh air and cool breeze, weather was perfect! The view. UGH. Priceless! We took pictures, breathed in and out. When we got down, we bought some giant incense sticks and candles to light, and we prayed. Roam around a little more and saw some cute souvenir shops, took a family photo, and bought something to eat. One of the cleanest restrooms I’ve encountered in Hongkong.

One of the largest budha statues in the world. If you find the long stair climb difficult, do not worry. You can go to the statue by any vehicle. And the view from above is stunning.

A magnificent statue that can be seen from afar. It was officially "enlightened" just a few years before the handover in 1997. It's currently under renovation and is off limit to visitors.

Beautiful place to visit, if you have the time, you can walk all the way up to the Buddha, we took the cablecart Buy a mealplan on the right side of the stairs to the Buddha and you can eat very nicely in the Po Ling Monastery instead of in the touristic eateries in Ngong Ping

Very enjoyable experience visiting the Tian Tan Big Buddha! However, the Ngong Ping village leading up to the Buddha is a bit touristy. Po Lin Monastery is nearby as well so worth a visit. There are 268 steps leading up the statue but it is worth the climb. You get to explore the building at the base of the statue which has beautiful paintings depicting the life of Buddha and it does house a relic which is part of the cremated remains of Buddha.

The Statue of the 112 feet tall Big Buddha, constructed from 202 bronze pieces and 34 metres tall is a must visit when you visit Ngong Ping. It is visited through the year by a large number of tourists. Very peaceful and worth spending some time. The Buddha statue denotes the harmonious relationship between people and faith, set amidst the lap of nature. A total of 268 steps lead to Buddha. However, there is also a small road for vehicles etc. so that any one with a physical disability is also able to visit. Beneath the statue are three halls and there is a relic of Buddha inside which can be seen only by visitors who purchase an offering for the Buddha. Worth a visit totally!

Tian Tan Buddha is a large bronze statue of Buddha Amoghasiddhi, completed in 1993, and located at Ngong Ping, Lantau Island, in Hong Kong. The statue is sited near Po Lin Monastery and symbolises the harmonious relationship between man and nature, people and faith. It is a major centre of Buddhism in Hong Kong, and is also a tourist attraction. Po Lin Monastery and the Buddha are open to the public between 10:00 and 17:30. Access to the outside of the Buddha is free of charge, but there is an admission fee to go inside the Buddha.

One of the most visited statue in Hong Kong, very interesting city and lot's of things to see here. Great sea food restaurants and jewellery shops all around Hong Kong. As a suggestion, go to Lantau Island where the world's largest bronze statue of the Sitting Buddha (about 34 meters). To get to the top you have to go through 268 steps. The statue is located on the Ngong Ping Plateau, in the village of the same name, which can be reached by the breathtaking Ngong Ping 360 cable car. Not far from the statue of the Big Buddha is the Po Lin Monastery, the road to which leads through a beautiful stone passageway. The main attractions of the monastery are the Hall of the Great Hero and the Hall of the Heavenly King. Another tip is to buy ticket to the cable car with transparent floor, trust me, it worth it!

A popular tourist spot that lives up to the "hype," this is worth the effort to visit. Impressive views of the surrounding country are the reward for climbing all the steps. Don't worry though as there are a few spots to stop and rest. Plenty of toilets are to be found both at the bottom and at the top! Can get rather busy. If you are able, it seems that first thing in the morning is the ideal time to visit.

The weather forecast said rain but when we arrived, the sun decided to break out. It served a great opportunity to show the beauty of the Buddha. Once you climb the steps up, you can get an even more breathtaking view! Be sure to take some breaks on the way up; there’s many people of different walking levels that partake so do be patient if others are slower than you. (We even saw some in high heels who were eager to make it up)

This is amazing, beautiful, a must see. Plan your trip ahead of time as it might take away one whole day as it is a very popular destination. Cable car ride is nice with stunning views. Up at top the mountain the is this small town with lots of places to see, little shops and nice places to eat. Lots of walking and lots of stairs. It is so worth going there.

The Buddha itself is the main attraction and is a easy climb for young and old people providing you can make it downstairs because the older you get the knees start to give in. The views from the top are quite impressive but a little windy so be prepared. You can enter the inside of the Buddha too and see famous names inside it.

The biggest sitting Buddha! It's definitely worth making the trip to come over and walked up the 268 steps. Beautiful views of the mountains and the Po Lin Monastery once we got up to the top of the stairs. Could get up close to the Big Buddha through the inner staircase.

Definitely one of the must places to visit while in HK. After you arrive with the cable cart the place is very commercial, with some places to eat and small shops(quite overpriced). Better to buy tickets for the cable cart beforehand, so you just go through. You can do so on Klook app and even get some promotions.

A beautiful, majestic and peaceful place. There are temples nearby and be sure to visit the wisdom path as well. I only wished I could hike the Lantau Peak as well to get the full experience of this place. Overall I think it was worth the visit if you like to visit temples and nature. Take the bus if you think the cable’s car too expensive, though the wait could be quite long.

The Tian Tan Buddha, also known as the Big Buddha, is a majestic and iconic landmark situated on Lantau Island in Hong Kong. Standing at 34 meters tall, this bronze statue is a symbol of Buddhism's rich cultural heritage and spiritual significance. The Buddha's serene expression and imposing presence create a profound sense of tranquility for visitors. The journey to reach the statue involves climbing a significant number of steps, but the panoramic views of the surrounding landscape make the ascent worthwhile. Surrounded by lush greenery, the site offers a peaceful escape from the bustling city life. The Po Lin Monastery nearby adds to the cultural richness, with its intricate architecture and serene atmosphere. Visitors can also explore the Wisdom Path, featuring ancient wooden columns inscribed with the Heart Sutra, adding an extra layer of spiritual depth to the experience. The Ngong Ping 360 cable car, providing stunning aerial views of the landscape, is often used to access the site. Overall, the Tian Tan Buddha is not just a religious symbol but a testament to Hong Kong's cultural diversity and the harmonious blend of spirituality and natural beauty. A visit to this awe-inspiring monument is a memorable and enriching experience for travelers seeking both serenity and cultural exploration.

Another wonderful destination!!!! Following a exciting cable car ride, you will be arriving at this island to witness the big magnificent Buddha. The place is pleasant and calm. Better not to travel on hot days but still you got considerable number of shops & restaurants to take breaks.. Very much worth to spend 4-6 hours in this island if your time permits. The place is very much clean & well maintained and it got it's own rules to follow as it's a spiritual place, but it's cool & easy to follow. Overall a good place.

On our long journey, we couldn't not go there In my work and in the book that will be published, this beauty could not be missing The Big Buddha was constructed beginning in 1990, and was finished on 29 December 1993, which the Chinese reckon as the day of the Buddha's enlightenment. When the statue was completed, monks from around the world were invited to the opening ceremony. Distinguished visitors from mainland China, Hong Kong, Taiwan, India, Japan, Korea, Thailand, Malaysia, Singapore, Sri Lanka, and the United States all took part in the proceedings. On 18 October 1999, the Hong Kong Post Office issued a definitive issue of landmark stamps, of which the HK$2.50 value depicts The Big Buddha. On 22 May 2012, it was also featured on the HK$3 value of the Five Festival set, this one celebrating the birth of Sakyamuni Buddha. The statue is 34 metres (112 ft) tall, weighs over 250 metric tons (280 short tons), and was constructed from 202 bronze pieces. In addition to the exterior components, there is a strong steel framework inside to support the heavy load. Reputedly the figure can be seen across the bay from as far away as Macau on a clear day.Visitors have to climb 268 steps to reach the Buddha, though the site also features a small winding road for vehicles to accommodate the handicapped. The Buddha's right hand is raised, representing the removal of affliction, while the left rests open on his lap in a gesture of generosity. He faces north, which is unique among the great Buddha statues, as all others face south

One of the amazing experience to climb the ladder to get there. Take a short walk from Nong Ping village to get to Tian Tan Buddha on a good weather day made it more refreshing too! Before the Covid, it used to be so packed that i would gave up every time i came here. After all these years, I finally get to be there with so little people made it one of the best experience in this trip.

Great Great Great Big Big Big Buddha is the famous. We walk through around the Buddha and also the inside out of the Buddha. The atmosphere around is just so nice. We enjoyed a vegetarian lunch at Po Lin Monastery. The Po Lin is just too stunning. Spring rolls, lemon chicken, mixed vegetables, sharp fin soup Chinese mushrooms with lettuce….and lots more. What a nice place to spend your holiday

Great Big Buddha on top of a hill. The view on top is breathtaking! You'll be amazed at how great the structure is! There are around 250+ steps to make it on top of the stairs. Here are some tips to enjoy your visit: 1. Make sure this is one of the first places you visit on the village. The stairs to the Buddha is quite steep. Elderly people may not be able to climb the stairs that high. 2. Bring water and sunblock. 3. If you want to enter the insides and the higher platform, you may need to avail an entrance ticket.

2023 August 4.5★ This huge Buddha is certainly a trek to get to. Admission is free and offering are graciously accepted. They do offer a vegetarian meal purchased at the entrance which takes you inside the body of the Buddha. Expect about 200 steps. Hot sunny days, bring a hat or an umbrella and water. Vendors on to the way to the Buddha do sell food and drinks if in need.

An absolute stunning and impressive landmark in Hongkong! This big buddha landmark is surrounded by nature, mountain, and also souvenir shops, food and temple. The place has no entry fee but to get here you might need to book something since it's on the top of the mountain sorta place. It's quite far from the city but not inconvenient to get here, got here by the cable car so you can enjoy the view on the up high, seeing the city view, sea, mountain water fall and the buddha itself from far away. I really love this place and I would definitely pay a visit one more time if I got a chance so I can fully enjoy and explore the area more in my chilling pace.

It is one of the five great Buddha statues in China. The statue is seated on a lotus-shaped throne on a three-platform altar. It is surrounded by six smaller bronze statues known as "The Offering of the Six Devas" that offer flowers, incense, lamps, ointments, fruits, and music to the Great Buddha. These offerings symbolise charity, morality, patience, zeal, meditation and wisdom, all of which are necessary to enter nirvana. Po Lin Monastery and the Buddha are open to the public 10:00-17:45. Access to the outside of the Buddha is free, but there is an admission fee to go inside. Visitors can also see the monastery which serves as an international Buddhist retreat, and is one of the largest and best known in China.

Very disappointed as the Buddha is under renovation. Maybe my fault for not checking it out. The Cable car ticketing booth at least should have the courtesy to tell us about the ongoing renovation instead of us getting a huge surprise. Anyway, the 25 minutes ride on the crystal floor cable car make up for the renovation. Amazing view throughout the journey. Wisdom Paths is a short walk away and feel good to be there. With the Buddha, it will be perfect.

Tian Tan Buddha is a large bronze statue of Buddha Shakyamuni, completed in 1993, and located at Ngong Ping, Lantau Island, in Hong Kong. The statue is sited near Po Lin Monastery and symbolises the harmonious relationship between man and nature, people and faith. It is a major centre of Buddhism in Hong Kong, and is also a tourist attraction.

(Translated by Google) The Buddha is under renovation, and I can’t see it. Most of the projects are free. There are too many people. The cable car has to wait more than an hour and the bus takes more than 40 minutes. Going up there is nothing fun except Shangxiang and Buddha Nine, the point: 4 bowls of tofu flowers, only 100, go up and bring your own food (Original) 大佛在整修,看不到,大部分项目都是免费的,人流太多,缆车要等1个多小时,巴士也要40多分钟。上去了除了上香和佛像九没什么好玩的了,重点:4碗豆腐花,只要100,上去自备食物

The way up is amazing. The place is nice and clean and feels like a tourist site. The stairs to the Budha statue was closed. Nice to see.

BIG BIGGER maybe the biggest . While approaching the Cable car , we can see peeping thru the clouds , the Big Buddha . When you get near , you feel the peaceful monastery and the monk making visit worthwhile . The Buddha has a panoramic view of the Lantau Island and is pretty during the sunset .

Quite interesting and you can clearly see the money that flows into the temple's bank account. Funny to see the monks having smartphones and smartwatches. It's very clean and has a nice atmosphere. All in all it's an interesting experience but nothing special.

This place is the home of the "Tian Tan Buddha". Placed on top of a big hill, you can either walk or take a cable car. The cable car trip to the top is an experience in itself with a spectacular view of the area. Arriving at the top you can start your adventure around the area. Temples, small shops lay scttered for you to investigate. When arriving at the Buddha you must walk up a lot of stairs, but you will be rewarded for your effort. This trip is highly recommended if you are looking for something else than the buzz of Hong Kong.

Beautiful place, temple, environment and scenic beauty. You wait for approximately 70min to get trolley ride back to Hongkong. Or get priority tickets for extra price. Very good vegetarian food also.

Sacred, serene, solemn. Despite the hoards (and I do suggest you go earlier in the day to minimize them), there is just an aura of tranquility in this place. The hike up a steep staircase to get to the Big Buddha gets your heart rate rising. But once you get to the top and stand at the base with the gentle breeze in your face and the glorious blues and green all around that frame the Buddha gold, the heartbeat slows down into peace.

Never miss visiting Big Buddha whenever I land in Lantau Island, Hong Kong. I was lucky and blessed to enjoy the full view of Big Buddha as the weather was sunny & clear with occasional foggy in the morning. Awesome weather cooling temperature and fresh air has definitely brighten up the mood of the visitors. I had a good walk throughout the trip and happy to share some of the pictures I took along the way. I must commend that the management has maintained the facility well and the environment was clean. The entire walk at Wisdom Path was insightful and enjoyable. I had also tried the vegetarian meal at the Vegetarian Hall and met up with some friendly police officers. Overall, it was truly a pleasant visit.

Rating based on how enjoyable the giant Buddha was. The day trip and activities accompanying the Buddha make it redeemable activity. The village before the Buddha has interesting wares and places to have a bite. The monastery is beautiful and also has authentic places to eat. The cable car ride and the mountain hikes are both great experiences. We coupled our Buddha visit with Tai-O the fishers village.

A serene sanctuary amidst the bustling cityscape. The weather was quite hot. Best to bring an umbrella. I waited for at least 30 mins to buy the tickets for the cable car ride. There are many eateries near the entrance.

The view is incredible. Make sure to go early morning or late evening during summers. Try to get the tickets from Klook beforehand. There’s usually a long queue and it’s the same price. And definitely take the cable car, it’s a beautiful experience.

It was under construction when I went there which took away greatly from the viewing experience as it blocked all of the front of the buddah. The location is definitely worth a visit. I went by glass bottom cable car which was both terrifying and interesting. The town client by is perfectly set up for tourists and the cows wandering around calmy are a great addition to a great day out.

This tourist attraction is highly sought after and definitely worth seeing. This destination is on Lantau Island in Hong Kong and can be easily accessed via MRT and bus services. Thanks to the clear and sunny weather, I was lucky to see an awe-inspiring sight of the Big Buddha. Inside the temple, you can learn about the history of Buddhism, monks, and their monasteries. You'll find serene Buddhist monasteries and picturesque spots near the temple, perfect for capturing memories with selfies and group photos. The cable car ride provides breathtaking views and is truly enjoyable. You may have to wait at least 30 minutes to purchase tickets for the cable car ride. There are separate rows designated for tourists, individuals with special vouchers, and local residents. Fortunately, there are several dining options available near the entrance. The cost of a cable car ride is a bit high. Two types of cabins are available - the regular cabin and the premium "Crystal Cabin." The Crystal Cabin is unique as it features a transparent glass bottom. You have the option to choose either of them to minimize your cost. Having at least one journey with the crystal cabin is highly recommended to experience the spectacular view and the journey itself.

The 34m Buddha was built in 1993 on top of a hill, bringing faith, man and nature together in one spectacular experience. The Buddha sits on a stone paved ring you walk around gaining superb views of the surrounding countryside. Also on the paved walkway are six Devas that give offerings to the Buddha. The Buddha is accessible by a stone stair case that in Hong Kong heat is a bit of a climb but affords spectacular views at every point. Below the statue are some exhibition halls, in one of which are some of the cremated remains of Buddha himself. There are lots of ancillary shrines, places to eat and shops for visitors and lots of facilities but these are in the valley below the Buddha maintaining a really rather serene experience at the statue itself. The site itself is tricky to get to but it is accessible directly by bus. A must do Hong Kong experience.

Magnificent. I was awed with the nuance of this place. Although I'm not Buddhist, I can feel the sacredness of the place. Located on highland, with many stairs to climb up with, but it worths the effort. Breeze winds and vast viewings from the top of the stairs. Made me calm and grateful. I suggest you go as early as you can (they open at 9 on weekends), as they get more crowded at noon. If you can, take cable cars since it is the shortest path and take least time compared to bus.

I visited Tian Tan Buddha in Hong Kong in February and it was an exceptional experience. The iconic statue instantly captivated me with its grandeur and beauty. The breathtaking journey to reach the Buddha, through the lush mountains and serene surroundings, added to the overall charm of the visit. Climbing the 268 steps to reach the top rewarded me with panoramic views of the city and its mesmerizing skyline. The aura of tranquility and spirituality at the site was truly unique and made me appreciate the cultural significance of this landmark. Overall, a must-visit attraction in Hong Kong, especially during the peaceful month of February.
