Beautiful cathedral church near to Hong Kong Central Park. Original architecture, quiet place for contemplation or meditation. Looks a little bit mystical. Especially in the evening I think. Like this review if it was helpful :)

St. John's Cathedral is the oldest Anglican church in the Far East and one of the most important historic buildings in Hong Kong. Located on Garden Road, this is where the very first Sunday Service was held in Hong Kong in 1849. The cathedral was constructed in Gothic Revival style, is of soft yellow coloured and features a single tower. In the distant past, the tower would have dominated the landscape of a mostly bare Hong Kong Island. Now it is lost in a sea of towering skyscrapers, holding onto its place in the past. The interior of St. John's is subtle in its decor with a column lined nave, modest altar, pews and glass-stained windows. Its a peaceful place, a nice spot to have a seat and a rest on hot summer days. Given its proximity to popular sightseeing in the Central District, visitors can conveniently include a visitor to St. John's Cathedral before/after Hong Kong Park, The Peak Tram and Zoological and Botanical Garden amongst others. Note: St. John's is an active cathedral. Refer to their website for information regarding service times and schedule.

Although on the small side for a city of Hong Kong's size as it's ballooned since the cathedral's construction, this is a beautiful construction which is reminiscent of the British cathedral tradition. The acoustics are not as well designed as many cathedrals, but the stained glass windows show beautiful scenes from the Bible with Asian influences present. I particularly enjoy the choral mattins service, the second Sunday of every month. The choir is large enough and with a variety of voices and the incense and surrounds, it gives you that fix of 'high church' tradition if you're looking for it. The little gift shop next to the church entrance is also worth a visit.

Early gothic style architectural gem which was built in 1849, surrounded by park and skyscrapers, creating a perfect blew of old and new. Come for concert, mass or some silence and calm in the middle of cities hustle and bustle.

Wonderful gothic style cathedral in central Hong Kong. The oldest Anglican cathedral in Asia and built in the Gothic revival style which is really obvious when you look to the pointed windows and pointed decoration. Built in 1849 it has a long history of religious use but during the war suffered damage, for example the stained glass was removed, when it was occupied by the Japanese who turned it into a club. There are many interesting things to note. The use of cast iron window frames for example. However for me it is especially interesting to see stained glass that reflects the different parishioners, such as the fishers, found in Hong Kong. It's easy to access the cathedral from Hong Kong park and indeed admiralty MTR through the park. There is also a bookshop in a building adjacent to the Cathedral.

The cathedral is located on a hillside. You have to climb several stairs or.walk on a sloping road. There are choir members singing inside the cathedral.

Nice English online services here too. High Anglican(-Catholic), combined with contemporary evangelical hymns (the soothing type). Good for couples with slightly different denominational backgrounds.

Quiet and peaceful environment. St John’s Cathedral is the parish church with very long history in Hong Kong. You are welcomed to visit, pray and do meditation quietly. It's also great to take pictures outside.

The oldest church in HK celebrating its 170th anniversary, there are events being held like the Crib Service (for kids to understand the nativity scene and sing songs) and Christingle during Christmas time. The church welcomes all so feel free to have a roam around the lovely garden with a meditation circle, the small chapel to light a candle and make a wish or even snatch a nap in the daytime. Take particular note of the mosaics on the wall and on the ground which have Chinese elements incorporated in it and the small side chapel with a book commemorating those British peiple fallen during defence of Hong Kong in the colonial times. Good read on their life in the old days.

The church complex comprising the Cathedral, Li Hall ancillary with a book store and Church Office/Function Room. The Cathedral has a clock tower which bell toll every 15 minutes. The Church is abutting to Garden Road on one side and Battery Path that lead to CBD.

One.of the most beautiful churches in Hong Kong for worship and music concerts, the acoustic is amazing. This place has a lot of history too, an ideal place for some peace and quiet in the middle of a busy city.

👍 Lovely location in the clouds overlooking Victoria Harbour. Lovely service that really spoke to me. But not particularly friendly - the sort of place where the church meeting is fantastic but would take a bit of time and effort to really make friends.
