This is the one of the best places and a must to visit if you ate in Hong Kong. The Hong Kong UNESCO Global Geopark is also known as High Island East Dam Reservoir, so don't get confused. I have visited this place, but there is too less information regarding this place or how to reach here. But i will tell you in detail on how to reach here. 1. You have to reach Sai Kung 1st. You can reach here by taking an mtr or a bus. You can check on google maps on the route to reaching sai kung. 2. There is a direct bus to Sai Kung ( bus no. 92) from Diamond Hill mtr exit C2. 3. There is a minibus (no. 1A) from Choi Hung mtr station exit C2. 4. 101M minibus from Hung Hou mtr station exit B1. This is how you cam reach to Sai Kung. Now i will tell you how to go to the geopark from Sai Kung bus station. There are 3 ways: 1. You can take taxi from from the Sai Kung bus station. There are red and green taxis. The red ones are a bit costlier than the green ones. It will cost around 80HKD. The taxi stops at one end of the dam. There you will also find taxis waiting for you to take you back to Sai Kung, but on some occasions you may have to wait for a taxi from the dam. 2. You can take bus 96R to Pak Tam Chung from Sai Kung bus station. From here, you can hike for about 9km. 3. At the Sai Kung bus ststion, you will find a Volcano Discovery Centre. You can visit this centre. This centre provides information about how these rocks are formed. They also arrange bus and boat tours. The bus tours cost 110HKD for 3hrs. They drop and pick you at the geopark. The 3 sets of timings are 9:30-12:30 , 11:30-15:30 , 14:30-17:30. This is very convinent and reasonable also. The boat tour does not take you to the dam but it takes you around various islands, where you can see the different rock formations throughout the trip. They also make a 20 min stop at a Tin Hau temple on one of the island. The entire trio is of 3hrs and the price is 290HKD. But the real fun is visiting the East Dam Reservoir.

Quite an interesting and enjoyable ride up and down to and from the Peak, especially the part where the gradient is steep and it looks like the entire horizon and buildings are tilted at a crazy angle. There are also models of previous train models on display along the track and up at the Peak. Would suggest purchasing your tickets online through apps like Klook etc, so that you can just show the QR code to enter, rather than joining the queue to buy tickets.

I recently had the pleasure of riding the Peak Tram during my visit to Hong Kong, and I must say it was an incredible experience. From start to finish, the Peak Tram provided a seamless and enjoyable journey up to Victoria Peak. The ride itself was absolutely breathtaking. As we ascended, we were treated to stunning panoramic views of Hong Kong's skyline and the surrounding mountains. The tram's large windows provided excellent visibility, allowing us to fully appreciate the beauty of the city from a unique vantage point. The journey was smooth and comfortable, and we felt safe throughout the entire ride. Upon reaching the top, we were greeted with even more spectacular views. The observation deck at Victoria Peak offered a 360-degree view of Hong Kong, and it was truly a sight to behold. We spent hours taking in the breathtaking scenery, capturing memorable photos, and enjoying the various amenities available at the Peak Tower. I was also impressed by the overall cleanliness and maintenance of the Peak Tram. The tram itself was spotless, and the facilities at the Peak Tower were well-maintained. It was evident that the management takes great pride in ensuring a pleasant experience for all visitors. Overall, I highly recommend the Peak Tram to anyone visiting Hong Kong. It is a must-do attraction that offers a unique and unforgettable experience. The stunning views, efficient service, and overall professionalism of the staff make it a top-notch tourist destination. I cannot wait to ride the Peak Tram again on my next visit to Hong Kong.

The government should strictly forbid that taxis enter this area. When we hiked there on 1. May 2019 there was taxi traffic like in central HK. Thousands "would like to be hikers" travelling within taxis to the park. The taxi drivers don't recognize the speed limit signs. This is not relaxing and is spoiling the fun for hiking there because the pedestrians have to take care everytime if one of the crazy taxi is coming. By the way this is Unesco geopark area. I don't know why there is a gate and a guard if taxis from the local area and even red HK downtown area taxis are allowed to enter the park area. The Unesco title should be removed for this area in my honest opinion. The signs at the entrance point out that even bikes are forbidden but the oldschool 1960 Toyota taxis which pollute the air are allowed to go. No acceptance from my side and only one star review.

This place is really great, so many interesting things to see but I suggest instead of walking, you can take the taxi all the way there so you can save time and you can go home walking for it is so far & not really good when it is so hot. The views are awesome.

It's a short but spectacular ride. The tram climbs at a pretty steep gradient and the buildings on the side appear so inclined that it seems to defy gravity. You also get to see awesome views of Hong Kong Island and Kowloon. I visited on a clear, sunny day and the view was fantastic. I visited on Sunday morning around 9.45am and the queue was very short. I bought round trip tickets at the counter.

Amazing...It is one of the best places in HK...nature at its best...Book the tickets from the volcano museum. There are different tours. Each have their own beauties. Would highly recommend the boat tour. It departs at 2pm and returns at 5... You can sail through the nice geo park..enjoy unending nature and serenity. The guides were very friendly and well informed. Even the elderly can take the tour.

There are several ways you can get on the Victoria Peak, I decided to reach it by tram. The tram was nice, also the view from it, too. However you need to arrange your time well, as it is usually get very crowdy there. I thought after living in Shanghai for 5 years I've already got used to queues, but after visiting Peak Tram, I found out that all that time I was wrong. The queue organisation is ok, but still.. it's go nearby the road, need to be careful there. Still the view on the top is worth waiting for, but just keep in mind the queues. Cheers!

Came to try the new tram on Monday thinking it would be less crowded but I was wrong. The new tram was gorgeous and people lined up to get on it. If you have octopus card, you can just tap and take the tram as if taking mtr. You also get the same discount for the ride back. Will try again early morning and see if there are less people.

Great experience to head up a really steep hill. Views would be absolutely amazing if the weather is clear. We chose just the tram ride and not the viewing gallery due to the fog, but there are a few areas that you can still get a pretty reasonable view.

A lot of education value. Perfect location for geography field trips, nature tours, hikes, etc. Views of the dam and the coastal erosion features are fascinating. The east dam is reachable by taxi or green minibus 9A(only available on Sunday and public holiday afternoons). Otherwise, the walk in from Pak Tam Chung takes about 2 hours (10km). Crowded on weekends and on public holidays.

Victoria Peak is a mountain in the western half of Hongkong Island. It is also known locally as The Peak Tram. An adventurous experience riding in the tram to reached the Victoria Peak. The Tram railways was in a vertical/sliding way, its getting up bit in a bit that made our trip breathtaking and chill just to reached the Peak Mountain. At the top of the mountain you can view the amazing landscape of HONG KONG City. A stunning look out point to see the wonderful City with the high rise buildings. The weather was cold and foggy too, Great season. One great experienced in my life visited Hong Kong.

The newly renovated Peak Tram Station and the new series of the 6th generation Peak Tram really opened my eyes. The station has been upgraded to a fully automatic system, no need to line up for tickets. Taking this over 130 years of history tramway, the experience is great . The whole atmosphere at the Peak today ( New Year day , 1 Jan 2023 ) is great !

The Peak Tram is a popular tourist attraction in Hong Kong that takes passengers to the Peak Tower, which offers stunning views of the city skyline. The tram has been in operation for over a century and is considered a historical landmark in Hong Kong. The tram ride itself is a unique experience, as it is one of the steepest funicular railways in the world, with a maximum gradient of 48%. The tram journey takes about 8 minutes and covers a distance of 1.4 kilometers. The tram's interior is comfortable and air-conditioned, with large windows that provide panoramic views of the city. The views from the top of the Peak Tower are breathtaking, with stunning vistas of the city skyline and Victoria Harbour. Visitors can also enjoy a range of attractions at the Peak Tower, including restaurants, shops, and observation decks. Overall, the Peak Tram is a must-visit attraction for anyone traveling to Hong Kong. It offers a unique experience and stunning views of the city that are not to be missed.

The Peak Tram in Hong Kong is an absolute must-do! Conveniently located and easily accessible, it offers a smooth boarding process. The tram ride itself is breathtaking, with stunning panoramic views of the city and mountains. The engineering marvel of the steep ascent adds excitement to the journey. At the summit, the Sky Terrace 428 provides a mesmerizing 360-degree view. Friendly staff, cleanliness, and a range of activities make it a complete experience. Don't miss out on this iconic attraction when in Hong Kong!

This is a must stop when you are in HK , the views are breathtaking , and you can easily spend half a day between dining and wondering around the peak! I'd suggest you come a couple of hours before sunset , that way by the time the sun sets you will be at the peak , and if you time your dinner you can enjoy the night view which is as magical

The line queuing fir tickets to the Peak Tram is very long when we arrived around 4PM on Saturday; it took more than an hour on the waiting line until we got the ticket and another 20 minutes waiting for the Tram to arrive. The sixth generations of Tram was in service in 2022 and the design is wonderful even with glass windows at top of cabin allowing passengers to view through the sky and buildings along the way up to the top of mountain. The ride is truly spectacular and enjoyable, even though the waiting time is long and boring. Purchase round trip ticket has good discounts compared with single ticket.

We had a great experience taking the tram up to the peak. There are numerous options to go up, but the tram has the most historical value. The latest trams have been upgraded to be fully enclosed to protect from the weather. They are also larger and therefore has reduced the wait time. The while trip takes about 5 minutes, but there are 2 trams on the tracks. There are also 2 tram stops between the base of the mountain and the peak, but don't expect anyone to get off on those spots.

It’s really nice ride, everyone can see everything from the tram since it’s 360 view. But when it’s arrived in the top, there’s nothing really to be seen, just the scenery of Hong Kong island and small Madame Tussauds, and mall. If you come here on the weekend it will be lot of people, better to go in early morning

  • 5/5 Julian L. 2 months ago on Google • 26 reviews New
A great way to really see all of Hong Kong (from above). A must do for any visitor on a clear day. The tram runs every 10mins or so, so although it looks busy, the passengers clear quickly. Hot tip - sit on the right hand side going up, and the left going down. You can also wait in the queue next to the tram to get the front carriage (the end facing downhill) for a more unique experience. There are walks at the top that are worth doing as well (around the peak loop is 3.2km), but it offers different views.

Amazing view from on top. If you're in Hong Kong, definitely take the Peak Tram . The tram's existence accelerated the residential development of Victoria Peak and the Mid Levels. Operated since 1888, it was the first funicular railway in Asia.

The views are great from the tram, and the journey is quite smooth going up and down the mountain. The stations are good quality as are the trains. The only downside is that at busy times the queues are really bad and create such a long wait. If these were managed better the service would be perfect. The other gripe I have with this an other services in Hong Kong is that at the exit you are put into a retail space, which is quite crass. This could also be done a lot better.

(Translated by Google) The location shown on the map is actually the "Biaojianjiao Observation Deck". It takes about 30 minutes to go up from the Dongba Pavilion. The observation deck has a beautiful scenery and overlooks the entire Langchi Beach, Pengpeng Kok Tsui, Fanzeng Chau and Pobian Chau , Very suitable for a relaxing outing for a large family.

A stunning end to a long walk. Waaay to many taxis up and down the road are annoying, but the walk is worth it. Go all the way to the east dam, and down to Pak Lap village

Steep tram with excellent view at the top where you can see entire Hongkong.

  • 4/5 Andy W. 2 years ago on Google
Must try if you are not hongkonger. Around 100 HKD for a round trip. The trip is around 10 minutes to take you up to the peak tower. It may have a long queue if you are going up. Just walk there from the Central MTR station J2 exit. It takes around 15 minutes.

Lines are quite long but with a little patience this is a lovely little train ride with good views at the top if the weather permits it. The mall at the top is a very touristy destination and we found the nicest part was leaving the building and exploring the surroundings. By doing it this way we found it a lovely experience.

Fast and easy way up to the Peak when you don't have a car. We went on a weekday and there was only a small line. It is a much steeper ride than we were expecting as first-timers, and there were several, as everyone's personal effects went sliding all over the floor.

Such a unique experience of riding an almost vertical tram track and reaching the highest point of HK Island within 7-8 minutes! There was not much of a wait cause I visited on a weekday afternoon and the staff was really helpful.

The brand new V6 Peak Tram! Better view from the tram compare with the previous one, more comfortable seats and more windows. And the most important thing, better waiting area!

The 6th generation Tram has been in operation for few days, with new interior design, sunroof and comfortable seats. It’s definitely one of the best ways to reach the Peak.

  • 5/5 Sum L. 1 year ago on Google
First time travelling on the 6th generation tram! Big windows allowing good ventilation and wide views along the way makes the journey very enjoyable. They also parked the old trams next to the track and slowed down the tram so everyone can appreciate how far Hong Kong has come!

The tram is even better now that it has been remodelled! The glass ceiling gives great views of the tall buildings.

I think this is my 30th times riding on the tram and it has never let me down. The beauty from the Victory Peak's night view while the ride is getting steeper and exciting. Amazing experience!

  • 5/5 Wendy C. 1 year ago on Google
Magnificent view of Hong Kong. It was a fine day so we could clearly see the victoria harbour as well as all the skyrise buildings. Definitely a must visit spot for tourist. If you have time, you can walk along the path or take the tram back down. A lot of varieties of dining up there as well.

  • 4/5 Fouad A. 1 year ago on Google
The tram journey itself is not astonishing, however it is still a fun experience with a great view and some time to sit and relax. The view from the peak and the garden are definitely amazing tho.

It has a lot of renovations and upgrades at the station and the peak, great place to see skylines and brilliant night view of HK and Victoria Bay. The stores are closed fairly early though due to the pandemic impact, it should be a lot better by now after HK eased restrictions.

Recommend to climb on your own but if with children or can’t for whatever reason then it’s a nice ride. Great view at the top. Great family activity and for solo travelers too.

  • 4/5 Anusha J. 10 months ago on Google
Its a one of a kind experience travelling up and down in the peak tram. The slope inside the train is significant and you can see the slanting buildings hovering above you through the glasses on the roof of the train. The journey also gives a magnificent view of the Hong Kong sky scrapers.

  • 4/5 MC 10 months ago on Google
The new tram is much bigger and hold more people. At the top, you can get a good view of HK, especially beautiful at night. Very busy place with many tourist around.

Exhilarating ride. Incline travelling is about 45 degrees. When going up the hill, do get the seats at the right side for best view towards the city and sea coast. Glass ceiling view.

  • 5/5 Wendy P. 4 months ago on Google
I really enjoyed this tram ride, but found walking on the eneven floor very difficult. The views from the peak were really quite something.. went early on a Monday morning so it wasn't very busy at all. When I read about it I thought it was a Victorian Tram, but the team carriage is very modern. Certainly worth a visit. 170 Hong Kong Dollars is a very easonable price too.

The Peak Tram ride was so smooth and enjoyable up to Victoria Peak. Bought return tickets on Klook and skipped the queue lines! You will just need to scan your tickets through your phone. Although the tram was riding on a steep slope, the short ride was comfortable. Clean, huge glass windows allowed us to have a clear view of the scenery. P.S. Sit on the right side of the tram for a better view. When you alight, you will be inside the Peak Tower. Madame Tussauds, some restaurants and souvenir shops are within the Peak Tower. To visit Sky Terrace 428, just take the escalator all the way upwards and scan your ticket. Ticket counter is at level 3 if I remember correctly. You will pass by the ticket counter while going upwards. Tip: Consider coming first thing of your itinerary for lesser crowds. I visited Sky Terrace 428 at a weekday morning 10am. Although some shops were not open yet, the crowd was significantly lesser and the sun was not scorching hot yet. Best to plan your visit on a day with clear sky for the best view.

Actually this is the only way to get ob top of The Peak conveniently without having to walk all the way up. The tramp is fast, convenient and very easily accessible at enter as well as exit. Fast ticket shop. Very nice service. In addition its not only a transportation but also a great experience Everyone I Hong Kong for tourism should visit the peak via that tramp.
