Really amazing, it's always excites me whenever I recall my visit. Their interior, sequence, prototypes and models are really impressive. This was the only time I got disappointed by my weight that I doesn't qualify for free fall because ideal weight limit is 82kg. Covering charged are nominal and there are many educational toys in souvenir shop which are very good for kids to learn the concept ar early age.

2023 August 3★ A smaller space museum than expected. With the first floor being exhibits and half of the second also exhibits. There other half of the second floor is a movie theater. It's OK. You'll find most people crowded on b the first floor near the end where most of the interactive exhibits are. Though nothing special, there's still a line up during the usual busy days. Get a family pass for $100 HKD and visit a few museums for free including this one.

It's inherently difficult to do a space museum well (for example, there are few objects) but even allowing for that this museum is very poorly conceived and not worth going to even when it's free. The explanation and illustration of space made little coherent sense, lacked any narrative or sense that they were building viewers knowledge in a logical way.

Exhibition gallery re-opened. But many exhibits damaged, closed. Need more staff supervision of kids to play properly.一

Good museum focusing on exploring the Universe with exhibition floor on manned space flight on the upper level. Many children friendly exhibits with enough to keep inquisitive adults happy too. Lots of hands on experiment exhibits. Cost is only 10 HKD (approx £1) per adult. Children and students are free.

Like a children playground more than a museum, with crowds everywhere, kids dashing around uncontrolled and noise level that could potentially cause noise induced hearing loss

The Hong Kong Space Museum stands tall as a city landmark, distinguished by its unique dome-shaped building that catches the eye. Though the museum may be on the smaller side, it compensates with a plethora of engaging and interactive activities tailored especially for children. The emphasis on hands-on experiences ensures that young minds can explore and learn about space in an exciting and educational manner. One of the standout features is the space theatre, boasting a captivating hemispherical screen. This design choice adds an extra layer of intrigue, particularly during the screening of documentary movies. The immersive quality of the hemispherical screen enhances the overall museum experience, making it a highlight for visitors of all ages. From captivating visuals to educational content, the space theatre elevates the museum visit, leaving a lasting impression on those who delve into the mysteries of the cosmos within the confines of this remarkable dome-shaped structure.

تقييم lamore lavita خبير الترحال في 35 دولة حول العالم hong kong space museum The Hong Kong Space Museum is an astronomy and space science museum located in Tsim Sha Tsui, Hong Kong. Opening in 1980, it is managed by the Leisure and Cultural Services Department of the Hong Kong Government.[1] The building is notable for its hemispherical shape, which contains a planetarium, the only one in Hong Kong. The main facilities of the museum are located in a building next to the planetarium, showcasing information about the Solar System, cosmology, and spaceflight. Accessible from Salisbury Road, it is adjacent to the Hong Kong Cultural Centre, the Hong Kong Museum of Art, and the Tsim Sha Tsui Clock Tower. The Hong Kong Science Museum and the Hong Kong Museum of History are also located in Tsim Sha Tsui. The Space Museum regularly holds various types of astronomical exhibitions and lectures. It is also open to schools, groups and the public. It has been nicknamed the "pineapple bun" (菠蘿包) due to its shape.

We just paid a short visit, but it was very impressive and if we had more time, we absolutely would have paid for the entrance. I gave only four points because the service was not as friendly as it used to be in Asia and a few papers were just in Chinese (no English). It is really worth a visit, but you need time.

We spent just over an hour here with our three year old. We didn't watch a show as 3yo does not love the dark. Plenty of hands on exhibits and displays to take in even for a 3yo. However, considering it is a government museum, some translations to English are poor. This is surprising.

Love the dome shaped theatre, and definitely a good place to watch a 3D scientific documentary. It’s dome is amongst one of the largest ones in the world with a diameter of 23m! They’re closed on Tuesdays though, so make sure to go on the right day!

Whenever I make use of the visit here to escape from the extreme heat, the video of the Big Bang still impresses me, restating the vulnerability of human being. It also reminds me of the days of the Earth is numbered due to the extreme climate and somewhere inside the Universe may become the last shelter of the next generations. The museum should showcase some of the space advancement in human history, instead of placing various games with which the young kids play.

A very interesting interactive museum, not only children but also adults will be curious. Most kids just twist knobs and mindlessly press all the buttons they see, but you can introduce your child to the physics and chemistry of space if you are not lazy to read and understand each exhibit. This place can inspire doing science.

This is a nice museum in Hong Kong. Firstly, the museum provides a lot of information about space travel, machinery and other historical events about space. There is also a dome shaped movie theatre room that visitors can visit. The museum can change their exhibition a bit, as the museum’s exhibit has not really changed in any he past years. Overall 4 stars, nice.

The science museum is right at the opposite side of Peninsula Hotel. Visitors can go there via buses or MTR within a few minutes of walking. Spaceships, rockets, space station models, solar systems etc. are displayed in the exhibition halls where I spent about 1.5 hours. No admission fee is required. After the visit, don't forget to go to the seafront promenade to enjoy the Victoria Harbour view and the light show at 8pm.

When attending the Space Theatre for any shows, please do reserve seats from the last rows! (Row J, K, L, M, N). The last rows are the best seats. If you reserve the front seats, you will struggle to see half the screen and will develop a neck pain. The Space Museum Exhibits are very interesting, most of them are interactive. Tickets to the exhibits are usually HK$10, but they offer free entry for everyone on Wednesdays.

We're in Hong Kong visiting and decided to come here to visit the Hong Kong Space museum. For $10 HKD admission fee it was definitely worth a visit. My boys had a great time exploring and so much to see and do. It's nice and cool inside on this humid hot summer day here. You get to learn so much about the space well, hence the name space museum. I highly recommend this place for the amount of money and education. My kids had a great time!

Hong Kong is one of the most vibrant and heavily populated urban places in southeastern China – as a result, it has one of the skyscraper-studded skylines, great buildings, major shopping destinations, and must-visit museums.

A great museum to bring your kids. Fun & interactive way to learn many things about space. They can experience with their body, feel with their hands, and see with their eyes. Very busy during any sorts of school holidays, admission fee is fairly low. Very easy to get tickets at the door.

The best experience ever! You can get ticket near the front entrance which is in low cost. However, local students and even international students can enter for free! All you need is bring along your student ID card. They have a few exhibitions which each needs a ticket but I am sure you will learn a lot from all. Every detailed information is displayed everywhere around, friendly staff is always nearby if you need any assistance. We got a ticket to enjoy a movie in the Space Theatre which is located inside the hemisphere. No photos is allowed inside but it is spectacular as the whole inner wall is a display. Overall, I recommend going to enjoy the theatre and exhibition with just yourself or love ones.

The Space Theatre was an amazing experience - I watched "Sky Tour: Window on the Universe" and "Touch the Stars 3D" ($32 for a standard ticket). The headphones are located in the armrest, where there is also a console for you to select a language and control the headphone volume. The box office is located outside, next to the main entrance. The two permanent interactive exhibitions "Hall of the Cosmos" on the ground floor and "Hall of Space Exploration" on the first floor are both free on Wednesdays. Otherwise, $10 for a standard ticket (free for accompanied children under 4). Plan to spend approximately 1-2 hours for the Cosmos exhibition (I spent a bit longer as I was having a bit of a laugh about Uranus - I had no idea Uranus was a gas giant...) and 0.5-1 hour for the Exploration exhibition. The staff were friendly and voluntarily told me that the exhibitions were free on Wednesdays (I had bought a theatre ticket at the box office and didn't know about the exhibitions until I went into the building on Sunday. So being a cheapskate, I went back for the exhibitions on Wednesday...).

If you grew up in Hong Kong, I am sure you must have come to this place at least 5 times because of those field trips organized by schools. Yes, I am talking about the weird-looking architecture in Tsim Sha Tsui. It comprises two wings. The east one has an egg-shaped dome structure which is commonly known as the "cha shiu bao" as the appearance resembles the pork buns we have in a Chinese restaurant. Beneath the dome are the Space Theatre, workshops and offices. You may also find the lecture hall, gift shops and offices in the west wing. This museum is so much fun as it provides educational and entertaining exhibitions to promote community interest in astronomy and space science. Kids love this place because of all the fun activities in it. For example, the moon-walk stimulator allows you walk in a zero-gravity setting as an astronaut. The best part of this is definitely the movie in planetarium, which is a large dome-shaped projection screen onto which stars and planets move realistically. It will blow your mind if it is your first time. Notice that Wednesday is free admission day but the queues and crowds might be a bit huge.

A dome shaped iconic buikding near the Victoria Bay in Tsim Sha Tsui HK which featured Man's Landing on the Moon when i visited this Aug 2019. Entrance fee to the exhibition hall is 10 HKD but you can watch the presentation too. There are stores and shops in the area, for dining and souvenirs, as well as other stuff. It is conveniently located right across the Peninsula HK, just beside the HK Cultural Center, and just behind it is the Avenue of the Stars and the harbor where a multimedia light show is featured every 8pm. Last Aug 7, it was the venue of the peaceful Laser Protest among HK people who played laser lights on the dome to stand against the arrest of a university student who bought a laser pen.

Interesting museum to bring your kids and explore the solar system, quite a number of hands on experiments as well. There was a Pioneer 11 exhibition going on when I visited and was very informative. I also visited the SkyTour show - that one was a disappointment as it focused on beautiful photos from the Arizona desert and all sorts of different places on Earth rather than on planets, stars, galaxies. Whenever they showed some star pictures, it was for "wow" effect rather than explain what that is. No mention of the Big Bang.

More for kids than adults, this is a very small venue. Other shows that is not part of their regular features are not included in the admission price. Even though admission is only 10 dollars, I think it should have more to offer. Kid's seems to enjoy it, with some interaction displays that they could get their hands on. If you happen to be near by then go have a look, not something worth taking time off to visit.

  • 5/5 Paul C. 1 year ago on Google
Mainly child oriented, but with several very clever hands on displays that demonstrated quite complex issues in an easy to understand way. I liked the demonstration of symmetry breaking; it showed a real but very simple example! My only grouse was that some displays were too low-geared, so they took longer to operate than necessary; possibly longer than a child's patience! I (a geologist) also noticed minor omissions in some of the displays, but nothing very important.

Pleasantly surprised to find out admission to the Museum is free on Wednesdays when we get there for our 3D show. Many interactive displays. A fun place for both kids and adults.

Amazing and educational place! Bonus is that we got here for free! I'm not sure though but I think the admission is free every Wednesday. Pictures aren't allowed inside but it was interactive and fun

Just passed by but didn't enter the museum. From the outside it looks huge and nice. At night the lighting is very nice.

Perfect place for space geek and kids to learn more about space. They have cool show about Mars, Voyager, and so on. You can also enjoy 2 floors of cool exhibition to play with your kids or spouse. I recommend you to buy the ticket in advance for the shows.

An educational place to take your kids for a visit. They have a large exhibition area for visitors to try out games and learn knowledge via simple hands-on experience. You can also watch the science-related movies via curvy on-the-ceiling screen. A must-visit museum in Hong Kong!
