Ridiculous prices and pushy staffs. Warn you first, do not come alone or you must have the confidence to walk away from ridiculous request. A lady from one of the stalls in the front was trying to sell a “jade”bracelet to my friend for $800, but as we want to walk away, she lowered the price to $200?????? I bet this is still way higher than cost price. My advice if u ever want to even come here is, do not ever settle for the first price they give you. Bargain till at least 1/10 of the price. Or, go to the shops at the back, you might find more honest owners and prices.

My 2 cents advice to tourists like myself , pay with cash, pick something you like and won’t regret buying, pay no more than 25% offered price. Tell them that is all the cash you have, be firm and walk away. Don’t pay with any other form of payment. I bought a jade bracelet for $800 and happy with it, but still think I over paid when as initial price offer was $1800 HKD, second time around I would pay up to $450 (25%). Be firm on budget and walk away.

A good tourist destination for those interested in seeing jewellery, accessories and statues made out of jade, for pearls and other natural stones. Vendors can be very pushy and most items are overpriced. Be prepared to bargain down if you plan to purchase. It’s a short walk from Yau Ma Tei MTR station, near Tin Hou temple. The best time to visit is later on the afternoon, we found some stalls opened after 2pm.

Nice place for souvenirs and buying crystals at wholesale price. You do have to know where to go though to avoid aggressive sellers and cosmic prices. My favourite is Sandra’s stand 152 - you can also ask her for a custom made piece as she does all the jewellery by hand on spot and has a variety of pearls and crystals

Vendors are quite pushy, some will say they arent but they are. Major turn off form the way they approach you and the price they give is never an honest one, only until you walk away they start throwing you much lower prices. Why not be honest in the first place? If they cant be honest with prices what makes you think they are honest sellers? The jades are probably fake. Was looking at a tiger eye bracelet. 1 vendor said 250khd then when walking away asking me how much i would pay, then lowered to 150 then to 50! Like wow! They are really trying to beat tourist in the head from the start! They ruin their own reputation from being pushy and dishonest…. If you want real jade go to a real jade seller like the ones in the jewelry store. If you want souvenirs sure come here but make sure you dont buy the price they offer you initially!

It is a unique tourist spot and there are lots of Jade stores here. It is nice and interesting place to visit but please do not ask for prices unless you are seriously interested as the store owners are pretty aggressive to get you to buy things and they will likely follow you and keep pestering you. If you are interested, do walk around and check out the prices, as the goods tend to be overly priced and is difficult to find the true bottom price. You need to be gutsy and cut the price sharply to find out the true bottom price. Not the kind of game many tourists would like to encounter. Also, you cannot tell if the Jade is true or fake. Best is just walk around and enjoy the place.

The Jade Market has lost some its lustre from years past but remains a fun place for tourists to visit in Ya Ma Tei district just a couple minutes walk from the Tin Hau Temple. Stalls are open from around 10am to 5 or 6pm daily. Here you will find a couple hundred stalls selling all manner of jade and jade related items - beads, jewellery and trinkets. Prices range from very cheap to the ridiculous so best to know jade and how to judge the quality of the product before considering more expensive purchases. There is a lot of junk and fake stones mixed with authentic jade here. As such, have fun browsing and buying cheap items but unless you are an expert, you'd better stick with high street licensed dealers for expensive jade purchases. After or before your visit to the Jade Market, its worth also seeing the nearby Tin Hau Temple. If you visiting near evening, have dinner at one of the many cheap eat places around Ya Ma Tai and Jordan before cruising through the nearby Temple Street Night Market, another fun place for tourists to visit i the area.

I really enjoyed this place but you will get harassed by store owners trying to lure you towards their products. I was quite happy to ignore them and find some nice bits. Be prepared to barter as you can knock off 50% off the price quite easily, especially if you go later in the day towards closing time.

Thank you, Sandra, from stall 152 for helping me find some Burmese Jade 925 silver earrings as a gift for my grandma! I would highly recommend visiting Sandra when coming to this market. She's highly knowledgeable, very sweet, and honest. Her prices are super fair, and she's a pleasure to talk to. I'd definitely visit her again.

Great spot for all your gifts and presents, we have always gone to Sandra at stall 447, 375. Very helpful, never pushy with a sale and always remembers. Surprisingly affordable.

A small market with pushy sellers trying to sell a range of trinkets, jewellery and plenty of jade items. Make sure you bargain as they start super high and you can bargain them down very easily

This is a small but very jewelry and crafts market. If you are looking for a gift or something unique for yourself, check this place out. It’s surrounded by a nice park and busy food shops so it’s also a fun place to walk to on the weekends.

Was a sweet surprise. I was happy I met Sandra, stall 152, she was very helpful and sweet personality, not pushy at all and will give you good prices! You'll feel overwhelmed by many people there but it is a market after all 😊! It's also close to a lovely temple which is a plus! -JC

Indoor stalls, with numerous jade products. Majority of the sellers are pushy sellers with similar wares. Sandra (stall no. 152) has both unique items and is not pushy at all. Worthwhile to visit

All the stands sold the same thing but everyone would approach you relentlessly. They’d start with a really high price and end up at a fraction of it, still a bit higher than others. Nice to see as an attraction but not great if you actually want to buy something.

It is a great market if you are looking for simple jewellery or decorative items for your house. Beware of the hawkers. They are very pushy with foreigners, and quote exorbitant prices. You need to bargain hard in order to get a fair deal.
