Better known as the Yuen Po Bird Garden, we found this place fascinating! This is actually a small lane, with the traditional Moon Gate at the start of this pedestrian alley. The Chinese have traditionally kept birds as pets. Here you see the old men with their cages taking their birds for "walks", much like you would walk your dog. They then hang the cages from the tree branches and, together with their fellow bird-owners, play card games or just simply have a chat. Stalls sell all merchandise for birds, including live crickets and grasshoppers. Sometimes you see owners feeding these to their birds with chopsticks. There is also an adjacent Flower Market and Goldfish Market but, for us, this market was the highlight!

This was a charming, quaint location on a second floor park with outdoor bathrooms. There are indeed a lot of birds for sale but conditions were sad with significant cage overcrowding and depressed exotic parrots with clipped wings and chains. Many vendors are eager to sell the birds. If you are a bird owner, there are a lot of bird supplies for sale.

A great place for bird lovers and owners to gather round and chat. With some people selling, although some birds you are able to pet owners nicely tell you to be careful in case they bite.

Market selling birds and bird-related stuff (cages, insects etc). Colourful and beautiful birds for sale, you can hear the chirps as you walk along the market. It can be a bit cramped and noisy at times. Definitely an interesting sight to see in case you're around the area. A few sitting benches around the park too. If you like animals it may be a bit disturbing because the birds are sometimes cramped in the cage. Near the Flower Market so you can visit both places at the same time.

(Translated by Google) The bird street under the epidemic seems to be a must-see for tourists. It is relatively deserted. The gray parrot I raised was also bought here. Now I am 18 years old. There used to be many shops selling parrots. Yes, there are only a few that can be sold now. This is indeed a convenient place for those who raise birds to buy bird food.

Went to buy seeds for my parrots. Shop keepers are friendly and a fair number of visitors. It's a aged trade.

A pet bird wholesale market though quite small where one can find rich varieties of tropical birds & bird feeds, Chinese bamboo bird cages. Worth a visit to experience the Chinese culture on pet birds.

Next to the flower market, there's this bird market with a smaller scale compared to the flower market. Situated at the higher ground of the flower market road, it's currently undergoing refurbishment in stages. We stopped by to pass the time and check out the unique atmosphere.

A market where they sell birds and everything related to these animals. It's also near the flower market, so you can visit both places at the same time.

If you are in Hong Kong 🇭🇰 you must see this place specially its very close to the flower market. Several kind of birds what ever you imagine you can find there also the birds food dried, seeds and even live insects and worm's you can find there. It's also good place to take some pic with the birds specially with parrots 🦜🦜

Very interesting birds 🐦 . If you are interested in seeing beautiful birds that you could purchase as pets, then come here to see what the owners have to offer. I must say the owners have lots of love and patience in caring for their birds even though they run it as a business.

It's not that big now not many shops open Price for birds has increased considerably I brought a budgie from the first store grandpa last year to replace my old budgie that passed away was $280 HKD , yesterday I had to go buy another as my second old budgie passed away this time price was $580hkd wow big increase ,refused to bargain saying everything go up due to pandemic, I found another shop had some budgies most shops only have Finches, parrots and love birds.Lady owner quoted me $500 HKD for a budgie I told her I came from a long way and would love to buy one to keep my lonely budgie company, In the end I paid $450 plus a free bag of bird seeds . Hopefully when things get better, more shops re open and prices can drop down to a more realistic price . I had no choice I didn't want my bird to be lonely.

i got a bird two weeks ago happy that i found a little companion only for him to pass away yesterday.. now i know that this place is cruel and the cages are awfully small for birds. they’re sick and distressed. i hope some animal rescue centre rescues them. 💔

(Translated by Google) I bought a parrot and the owner said it was only one month old. I went to the veterinarian for an examination today. The parrot is more than a year old. It’s hard to teach him to talk again. I don’t want to be honest. The place is dirty and sloppy. This place is full of scammers. They sell sick birds to people and then blame the weather when the birds die. There are many reputable bird sellers in Hong Kong on Facebook groups, but stay away from here. Nearly all their birds die within a month. Mine died after only a week 😭

Taking a caged bird on a stroll is one of the local elderly’s favourite pastime. You should visit this market if you want to know more about local culture, or just to see colourful, talking parrots. However, note that a lot of the beautiful birds are kept in really small, crowded cages, which is sad to see. :( Alert if you’re an animal activist.

Personally, I’m not a huge fan of putting these little creatures in cages, so it was a bit of a pain to walk through the bird market. They have dozens of different varieties of small birds and parrots, some places in extremely small and crowded cages. We also saw a pair of beautiful Macaws chilling on a bird stand. For reference, they were priced at 26,000 HKD in Sep, 2021. Most stores don’t allow you to take pictures, so in case you’re planning to go there to grab some Insta-worthy shots of the beautiful birds, don’t even bother.

Must see in Hong Kong! So close to the flower market. Although I was sad to see some of the smaller birds in cages and so many grasshoppers etc..in bags and cages... being an animal lover💕 It was nice to see that some of the bigger birdies were in good condition and overall happy. A nice man with his amazon was there to greet us and his bird was quite talented, if I had more time I would have took a pictures with him on my shoulder.

As an animal/bird lover this place is great to walk around & look or even take pictures of the birds(some owners don't let you take pictures & it is better for you to respect them). There are many different species of birds in here for sale. Not only that, they do sell anything & everything that's bird related; cages, perches, toys, bird food and such at reasonable prices. On the downside, however, as a bird lover, it just seems so cruel to me that a lot of the birds being sold are kept in cramped & overstocked cages. It's sad, really. Some of the budgies & cockatiels are sick but still kept in the same cage amongst the healthy looking ones. I wouldn't recommend purchasing, unless you take your bird right away to the vet & get it checked. However, the street is still nice to walk around in, with all the screeching, talking, chirping etc. I usually go here to get supplies for my birds. P.s. Do take a look at the flower market nearby as well, highly recommended!

It's interesting to see a bit of Hong Kong history in this small market. The wooden birdcages are beautiful to see and there was even an old lady cutting up grasshoppers to sell. However, it was sad to see birds locked up into tiny cages and very stressed because of it.
