The Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception, found on Caine Road, near the southwest entry into the Hong Kong Zoological and Botanical Garden is a rare example of Gothic architecture found in the city. This is one of the earliest cathedral buildings in Hong Kong, having been constructed in 1883. There is a decent history concerning the cathedral posted outside the main entry and there are a few interesting sights to be found inside, photography is allowed as well, including a nice asymmetric cross in the center of the nave which has three separate small chapels near the head of the cathedral. Traditional stained glass windows and rib-arch ceiling vaults can be found as well within the cathedral. In the end, the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception is a minor attraction for HK visitors but it is a rather attractive church visit to make for those interested. There is weekly mass in Cantonese and English held each Sunday as well. Services during the week seem to be in Cantonese only.

Very nice church..for the first time i am attending sunday mass..lots of wow moments..the choir is superb..the preaching is very loud and clear..the ushers are very nice and kind..the other best part is the view along the way from my hotel in ice house street..

Absolutely beautiful Cathedral with relics from the great saints like Padre Pio! Attached pictures in the review are the mass timings taken recently. It’s located on top of a hill, when you’re walking from Central MTR, you’ll walk past Lan Kwai Fong, reach the short tunnel and walk up the steps to the beautiful church. Hidden gem in the city.

A historical Catholic church in Central District where many senior government officers and middle class or even tycoons used to go. Periodical maintenance was carried out so that the outlook and the interior were still very shiny. A great place for wedding ceremony. Parking lots were only for registered users.

Beautiful gothic church with various altars to pray at. The church atmosphere is solemn yet vibrant. High mass was beautifully celebrated. The Sunday English mass is at 9.30am and the choir was very good.

beautiful Church. It is big and you can pray with total freedom. If you are a tourist, please do not take photos, it is not pleasant for residents and pilgrims.
