This is a short, approximately 1 km trail that forms part of the greater circular trail around Shing Mun Reservoir. It starts at the old Pineapple Dam, which predates the creation of the reservoir and was put to use by local Hakka villagers who grew pineapples in this area in the past. The trail runs north past a butterfly garden stop and beside the shore where you have nice views of the reservoir. It then ends at a road intersection and merges into the greater reservoir walk. There are a couple of picnic spots you will pass by and very good odds that you will encounter macaques that live in the area so have your food properly packed away while hiking along this Nature Trail.

Fantastic hiking trail that is easily accessible by mini bus. The hike itself winds around the reservoir and is manageable for hikers of all skills levels. Even kids will enjoy the casual walk around the blue water. There are numerous monkeys along the path, so do be careful not to scare or taunt them, as they can be aggressive. If you don't startle them, they will generally leave you alone. The hike lasts for a good 3-4 hours, so plan accordingly. There is very little food or drink available for purchase along the way. At the beginning of the trail you can sometimes buy snacks and drinks.

Cape D'Aguilar, or Hok Tsui, is a cape in the south of Shek O and D'Aguilar Peak on southeastern Hong Kong Island, Hong Kong. The peninsula, where the cape is on its southeastern side, is also known as Cape D'Aguilar. It is named after Major-General George Charles D'Aguilar.

Want an outdoor picnic? A leisure walk ? Or an immediate getaway from the buzzing city life? This is your choice of place. You will fell inlove with nature. The placid lake which is the reservoir is stunning, plus the towering paperback trees that lined in the riverbanks. Lush greens everywhere that gives fresh air. Paved road so its okey to bring the kids and pets. Just be careful when having a bbq onsite coz monkeys are everywhere in the area, they will take your foods haha.. cows can be seen also. Its good to go..

My two friends took me a walk in Pineapple Dam (Shing Mun Reservoir, 3rd Feb 2023). It was so beautiful. We went around afternoon time that somehow we ended up at Kowloon Reservoir Dam at night because we got lost hahaha. We were at the top of the mountain and didn't know where we were and we just followed the city lights as map direction. It was a funny and wonderful memory so my advice is don't go alone because you never know where you will end up if you are visiting for the first time. Please go for a walk with friends or relatives. The scenery are wonderful so I do suggest for a visit if you are in Hong Kong and love hiking or walking around. Also, do carry water bottle and small lunch like sandwich or drinks in back pack. Also for Pineapple Dam (Shing Mun,Reservoir), I didn't plan for it but it was worth a visit when my friends took me for a walk as they know I like to walk around in the nature. [By the way you will also see Monkeys and wild Boar so please do be careful. Also, don't carry your phones or items in a plastic bags as my friends warned that Monkey will come to snatch for it].
