Beautiful historic site conveniently located between Famous Nathan Road and harbor city. It has very high end brand stores but I think 99% of people hanging around and taking pictures. Love the design and year round activity they have, we were lucky to be there for Chinese new year.

Nice place to visit especially during the evening where the whole area lights up. Lots of shopping in the area as well (if you can afford it).

A good place for an educational visit to know about navigation and time matters, in particular the children.

If you don't have interest on this, no need to go inside firsthand. Once you enter here, you will take a picture inside. :)

    1. Nice and detailed introduction tags gave an great introduction to this historical building. 2. The combination of a modern mall does not conflict with its authentic substance, which is brilliant and surprising. 3. This tower is no doubt the most significant historical legacy of Hong Kong----it is how Hong Kong made its ground in Asia.

Time Ball Tower, 1881 Heritage Located in the heart of Tsim Sha Tsui, the Former Marine Police Headquarters have been rejuvenated and re-integrated into the urban fabric of the surrounding area. The 130 year-old historical development has been revitalized and transformed into a cultural and shopping landmark in Hong Kong - "1881 Heritage". Following extensive renovation and conservation works by CK Asset Holdings Limited, "1881 Heritage" now features luxury shops, fine dining establishments and hip bars, a heritage hotel, and a Heritage Hall which allows visitors to discover the history of the site. With the prime location on Canton Road, "1881 Heritage" is at the centre of the Tsim Sha Tsui cultural and shopping hub. It is only steps away from Hong Kong Cultural Centre, Hong Kong Space Museum, Hong Kong Museum of Art, and Kowloon Park. "1881 Heritage" can be conveniently reached by various modes of public transport, including by MTR, ferry and bus. #hongkong #hkig #singapore #taiwan #china #malaysia #photography #discoverhongkong #japan #travel #indonesia #usa #dubai #london #fashion #australia #love #art #hkiger #thailand #hongkonger #korea #newyork #hkgirl #streetphotography #photooftheday #paris #instagood #TimeBallTower1881Heritage #akhunzadazubairkhan

The Time Ball Tower is located on the grounds of the 1881 Heritage Shopping arcade - the former Marine Police HQ in TST. This declared monument is free to visit. It is a nicely preserved heritage attraction to see if you plan to visit the 1881 Heritage grounds during your visit to HK. The Time Ball Tower was erected in 1884 and was used by ships to recalibrate their chronometers prior to departing Victoria Harbour on their voyages around the world. During these early years, a ball was mounted on a pole and raised every morning, it was then dropped precisely at 1pm each day. Given its position and vantage point at the time, it would have been in full view of ships in the harbour. In the end, a neat little bit of Hong Kong's maritime and colonial era history rests in the Time Ball Tower. Give it a look-see if you plan to be in the TST area and have an interest in HK's history. Note: From the Time Ball Tower, there are nice views of 1881 Heritage grounds, particularly during the Xmas season when the area has its seasonal decorations on display.
