All of the hotels in Chungking Mansions offer a similar room setup: small rooms with ensuites that are good for short stays. But the rooms here at Maple Leaf are very clean and the manager is nice and communicative. There was an issue with our room when we first arrived - something electrical with the ac - and she was fast to get it fixed and in making check in easy and painless. Definitely a good budget choice place for a short stay.

I learned the building is known as the "ghetto" place before the trip, but decided to give a shot as an adventure. It turned out to be a great experience indeed, was a bit overwhelmed by the many shops and little restaurants on the main floor owned by the minorities, everything start to make sense once I figured out how they all work together. Perfect for backpackers willing to explore, it is totally exotic IMO, but I wouldn't recommend families with kids to this building. The hostel itself is nice and clean, Lisa, I assume is the owner, keeps everything running effectively and is very helpful. Our room is tiny (maybe 60SqFt at most) with two single beds and a bathroom, my travel buddy is 5'11" and I'm 5'10", we just laughed over and dealt with it. Come for fun backpackers, and get yourself mentally prepared too, lol!

Too small and uncomfortable. The building where is located is really ugly and people harass you as you walk in, did not make me feel safe at all. The only good thing is that it was cheap and close to the metro.

Rooms are tiny, but space is at a premium in Hong Kong. If you're just after a bed for the night and a private bathroom, this is perfect

A reasonably price budget hotel which is located in Tsim Sha Tsui. Its close to the MTR and there are many eateries nearby.

I know Chungking Mansions is supposed to be a backpacker's place, not a luxury hotel like the Sheraton, but I was still shocked that the room was so small, only big enough for one person to stand except for the nightstand and bed. I guess you could call it cozy. Indeed, you get what you pay for. But certainly I didn't pay to see two cockroaches. I killed one in the bathroom and the other hid behind the nightstand. The floor was also dirty and you could see all the dirt and gunk on the edge between the floor and the wall. It seems that for them cleaning a room consists of just a light sweep with a broom. The service was also very slow. We specified two guests in advance when booking, but there was only one set of toiletries and one pillow in the room. We had to wait an hour for staff to bring a pillow. Unbelievable. Additionally, I would like to report their dishonest business practices. We arrived at 10:30pm which I guess was pretty late so we were assigned a room in another hotel next door. I guess they were overbooked and sold our reservation to another hotel on the same floor. I've skipped a lot of Chungking Mansions hotels with bad reviews because I was hoping to get a cleaner room. Therefore, I would recommend anyone arriving late at night to completely avoid all Chungking Mansions hotels.
